We're going to have to reject this one Shark. While the app isn't bad, its cut from a very similar mold as a lot of the faction apps. They all somehow have Xanthian tech, are studying and trying to improve it, are secretive etc. These factions are having trouble finding their place in the rp and so far have not been very successful. So we'd rather you and others move in other directions with characters and apps. Can't wait to see what else you can come up with though

Even without the Xanthian tech, it feels like it serves the same purpose and role as the others. And me and the other Co-ops and Star are struggling to figure out what role these groups can play in the rp. So we don't want to accept anymore at this time.

Personality: Samael is an arrogant and highly self-centered person, to the point where one might think he is a megalomania. When others were praised for their false achievement and rewarded handsomely, Samael were punished for sins he didn't commit. In his anger, Samael refused to follow what his parents had expected of him. He mockingly refused to study what his parents told him to, instead surrounded himself with 'faux' arcane knowledge and magic 'tricks'. He became a pariah in his own family, a failure everyone wished to go away.
And he did. Just one day, when the servants of Keter Manor knocked upon his door to awoken him from his slumber, they found that his wardrobe and bed are now empty, much to his family amusement. Almost nothing changes in the Manor, and the family never bothered to search their outcasted kin. But to Samael, everything had changed. His first destination was the home of a friendly war veteran that is his friend's grandfather. They both shared interest in the art of magic, and through him Samael found various other with the same dream as him. Soon he found himself drown in the pure seas of magic and revived the forgotten skill of Keter Family; The Dark Arts.
When he first met a cult that claimed to hold one of the most powerful book on magical world, Samael was sceptical. He found soon however, despite the cult's relentless attempt to master the book, only those that have the dark magic itself within their blood can properly master it, and so Samael uncovered the secrets of Codex Damnatio. He titled himself as the Cabalist, Champion of Dark Artistry, and served himself as the watchful guardian of the night. He vowed to protect anyone with the same fate with him, and tried his best to reach his full potential.
Powers/Abilities:
- Dark Artistry Lifelong training in the Dark Arts has granted him a great power against all his adversaries. With simple runes and incantations, Samael can conjure creatures from the deepest abyss, summon a tornado of darkness, and burn his enemy with the same fire that burn through hell for ages. His spells are detailed below.
- Corruptus Fragare: A simple ancient hex, Samael manipulate the innate arcane power in every sapient being, and twisted it into a deadly fire that burn his adversaries and everything it touches.
- Nykta Volverdus: Samael carefully absorbed the shadow and darkness around him, captured it with a rune, and send a whirlwind of shadow forward to destroy anything on its path.
- Nykta Elecktror: Using an ancient rune to trap the darkness around him, Samael let go the dark energy in a surge of magical blast, electrocuting his enemies while hampering their own innate ability.
- Sanguis Invocere: Samael cast a rune using his own blood. The invocation conjure a spirit that consume his own blood from the rune that obey him and has the same endurance level with him. He can only sustain maximum two spirits using his own blood, although a longer version of the ritual can enable him to bind his enemy into the spirit, hence allow him to have more than two spirits.
- Corruptus Kinein: The corrupted essence within every being can be manipulate for various purpose, and one is to affect the movement of physical world. The spell is useful to control the fire produced by Corruptus Fragare and telekinetically move small objects.
- Sanguis Anguistae Tineshtai: Samael marked his opponent by his own blood, and punish them by their own blood. The spell slowly consumed the blood of anyone that is marked by the caster's blood (including Samael) and inflict them with the greatest pain they have ever felt.
- Corruptus Suus Aequalis: The rune tattooed into Samael's arm depleted his own arcane energy to heal himself or his allies. Can be cast regardless of distance as long as Samael has visual contact on his target. Prolonged use may put Samael into coma or corrupted the target's sanity.
- Sanguis Impendere Ruptus: Samael sacrifices his blood in the middle of the rune, which is consumed to power a large explosion within the rune's range. The explosion is delayed for a few second to give Samael a chance to retreat.
- Nykta Movere Vocivus, Peisma Perpetuus: The runes of Nyktum absorbs the darkness around it and circle an area ahead of it, ceasing all movement inside the circle. Samael needs constant concentration to maintain the spell. He can only speak and cast some of runeless spells (e.g. Corruptus Fragare and Corruptus Kinein) without breaking the spell.
- And the list go on...: His magics grow along with his knowledge. The list of spells might grow with the progession of the RP
Weaknesses
- Perfection Needs Patience: Just with any art, careful measure and great patience is needed to make a spectacular artwork. Samael needs to write the runes accurately and must speaks the incantations, which may need a long time that can be used by his enemy to attack him.
- The Cost of Magic: Most of his spells need to 'consume' a few things to work. While they don't necessarily consume blood, they will not work if they have something to consume. Ie. Nyktum spells need to consume darkness, Corruptus spells need to consume life-force or arcane energy and so on.
- Limited Memory: While he is of great intellect and power, perfect spells need perfect invocation. Thus he always keeps the Codex Damnatio that details the pattern of the rune, list of incantations, and how to read them properly
Equipment: Codex Damnatio, pre-written rune for emergency, the ominously black coloured robe with an indigo sephiroth drawn on it, dark violet armlet that together with his robe helps focusing his power, and basic mortal human needs.Likes: Magic, bragging his own abilities, slowcore music, Twilight Zone (the TV Series), cloudy days, and Capestagram

- Animation: Animaster can give life to inanimate objects. These objects morph and mutate into deadly forms strength vary based on their size but some can be quite dangerous. He can raise an army of huminoid weed wackers flamethrowers and God help the people of earth if their pyramids or airplanes start coming to life around them...
- Life force absorption: When a living being dies around him, the Animaster is able to absorb their life force. This can be put towards animation, but also to to increase his own strength and size to massive proportions. The more people who die, the stronger the Animaster becomes.
- Creation: Animaster can use absorbed life force to create his own inanimate objects of his own twisted design.
- Mental State: Fredrick is insane on many levels, and it often hinders his plans. His egomaniac tendencies and obsessive disorders make him his own worst enemy at times.
- Requirement of life energy: The size of the object that Fredrick is able to animate is very dependent on the amount of life energy is able to absorb. Whole buildings or an airplane would take a massive amount of stored energy.

- Absolute darkness: Within a one-mile radius, August projects a field of darkness that turns day into night. Even in broad daylight it seems as if the skies are overcast with a thick carpet of clouds, but when looking up at the skies the sun is still there, but eclipsed by darkness. The closer one gets to August, the darker it becomes. Within several feet one finds themselves in pitch-black darkness. At night this ability is obviously less pronounced, and only becomes noticeable in his immediate presence.
- Night Vision: Without it he wouldn't be able to see much through the darkness surrounding him.
- Energy Erasure: August can actively drain (or rather 'extinguish' as he absorb any of this energy) all kinds of energy in his presence. He does this, essentially, by creating a localized energy void. Fires, electrical appliances, moving objects (kinetic energy), etc.
While his ability is limited at a range, August can accomplish more by directly touching whatever object's energy he's erasing. Doing so requires no focus on his part.- Superpower Erasure: By focusing on a specific meta-human, August can temporarily erase the superpowers of a particular metahuman (An extension of Energy Erasure)
- Passive ability: August can not actively control the field of Absolute Darkness he projects, making his presence fairly easy to predict beforehand (the gradual onset of darkness) and having made it difficult to interact with other people throughout most of his life. August has found a means to suppress this field, which unfortunately also suppresses all his other abilities.
- Eye Contact: In order to erase energy, August needs to be able to see what he erases. He creates an area of null energy around the object, which he can then maintain without having to constantly look at it. This applies to static objects. Moving objects he will need to constantly keep his eye on.
- Constant focus: When erasing certain kinds of energy, especially from multiple sources, August must maintain a fair deal of focus to maintain each "null field". Fires can be extinguished, but things like electrical circuits can not as the source lies somewhere else entirely. Once he loses that focus or stops using this ability, power goes back on as usual. Erasing a superpower requires a great deal of focus and prevents him from using his power on other objects.
- Hand of Midas: August unwillingly erases the energy of objects he touches and induced some interference even when not touching them. As a result, certain kinds of technology are impractical to use for August when his powers are active, even when wearing gloves.

Ok, the real news. The ban on supervillains, villainous corporations, antiheroes and edginess has ended. I feel like the ratio of heroes:villains is closer to 1:1 now than it was before. That said, I will be holding very, and I mean very high standards for apps of these chars. "Woe is me," one-dimensional characters will not fare well under my gaze, fair warning. So, if you made a villain app that was rejected or pended due to the ban, it's your responsibility to repost those apps so that they can be looked at again. As for corporations, however, no more of them will be accepted if they're simply tech companies trying to do things with Xantheian tech or superhumans. There have been plenty of those already, and I don't see the majority of them doing much anyway. If you want to make a corporation, shy away from tech companies, or Xantheian tech at all really.
All this said, I do not want to see an overwhelming tidal wave of supervillains and not!Batmans. What I would love to see would be some more player created nations on Earth...hint hint, wink wink.
Regarding apps in general, I'll also start looking, for those who already have chars, how consistently you're posting with those characters before allowing you to create a new one. If you're not active with the 5 chars you've made and yet hope to app for two more, your dreams are going to be crushed. Either scrap those characters or start RPing consistently with those characters.
