Mexican Coast

The elder man took the mango, and smiled. Whatever these creatures were, they seemed friendly. He made a gesture to one of the men behind him, and several strings of jade beads were quickly fetched and handed over as a return for the fruit, and a gesture of friendship. All this was done without a single word.

The Roads of Mexico

The natives were unsure of what the Chinese men were doing, although they seemed to understand, if vaguely, the idea of tea. Many of them drank from their own strange beverage of a similar sort, the drink in question being the predecessor to modern hot chocolate. They sipped this brown drink, slightly sweet it was, and they put in powder of vanilla or chili to add flavor even further. The roads went on, and at last the Chinese men would be greeted by a native man wearing a headdress of many colorful feathers, He wore many necklaces made of beads distinctly recognizable as jade, although the jade here was much greener than that of Asia. He also wore arm rings of both jade and gold, and anklets decorated by feathers.

This man tried to explain himself in his native tongue, telling the foreigners that he had been told to wait here so that he may meet them and guide them to the palace. He had little success conveying this, as he did not know their language, and they did not fully know his own. Even still, he tried to explain himself, and in a very brief matter of time, simply motioned to follow. A few more steps lay ahead as the party crests over a hill, revealing below the great island city, the capital of the empire. "Ximopanōltih..." he said, welcoming them, "Tenōchtitlan!"

With this word, he made a sweeping gesture towards the city.

The Kingdom of England had become one of the key powers of the new Europe. Or so its monarchy wanted to believe. Contrasted with the rapid growth of industrial empires in the Mediterranean and the Italian peninsula, the Kingdom has been slow to advance. The government was still more ad hoc than formal, with barons and the nobility still wielding a lot of power and the state being decentralised. Nevertheless, industries began to flourish in Liverpool, Manchester and Northumberland; England also managed to acquire colonies in the Bengal, Java, Nigeria, Newfoundland and the Gambia.

The current possessor of the English Crown, King John Edward II, had evoked high hopes from many groups on his accession in 1664. The nobility saw in him a strong monarch who held the respect of the European powers; the urban proletariat and middle classes saw in him a saviour from economic restrictions and the king who will bring about the transition in England's political configuration; and finally, the peasantry, who formed the largest demographic group in the Kingdom, hoped that he would be the saviour of English agriculture from cheaper foreign imports as well as the one who fully emancipates the peasants, who remained almost as prosperous as they were as serfs.

One thing that all groups could agree on was that King John Edward II possessed an ingenious mind when it came to foreign policy. In the ten years of his reign so far, he had convinced all the European powers of his trustworthiness, and all powers were supportive to English continental and colonial efforts. Key to this remained good relations with all powers and a distinct reluctance on the King's part to ever contemplate war as a means of achieving something. Even the House of Lords, which had generally come to the realisation that the King was a strong and effective administrator, did not set up any obstructions when it came to the King's foreign policy.

Windsor Castle, July 1672

The messenger slowly dismounted the horse, gazing up at the castle's towers in the sunset. As the main door was opened for him, he contemplated on what he was to tell the King. It had been a long journey from the Tyne; he had crossed Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and East Anglia to reach the King in Windsor. Could the report from the Duke be that important?

The King was sitting on a formal looking chair; he did not look comfortable and his bored look belied the importance of this message. The messenger bowed as was royal custom, and presented the important papers in a flourish. The King grinned.

"I trust the good Duke of Northumberland has graced upon yourself what is deserving for the important mission that you have accomplished?"

"Your Majesty, I don't want to be seen as an ungrateful bore,"

"No problem. I have arranged for your accommodation here nonetheless. You will receive your pay tomorrow. Meanwhile, you must need some sleep."

The messenger smiled satisfyingly and departed the room.

To Sir Rudolf Deubel of the Hanseatic League,

I delight in receiving the message from your diplomats regarding an alliance with England. My government admires the achievement of great prosperity in the great Hanseatic cities without the rise of anarchist power. It is in both of our interests to strike an alliance.

Firstly, I have been informed by my loyal Duke of Northumberland that Hanseatic shipping has been frequenting the great English city of the north, Newcastle upon Tyne. While I value such trade, it also appears that Hanseatic tradesmen have often abused the law of the city and have undermined English trade and shipping enterprises there. As a prerequisite to any alliance, we must come to an agreement over trade and the respect of our respective sovereignties. In particular, agricultural products imported by Hanseatic shipping from colonies will be taxed more heavily, due to cheap imports undermining the agriculture of England.

Secondly, as two great naval powers of the North Sea, it is in our interests to form an alliance. Therefore I propose: any war declared by a third power on the Hanseatic League or the Kingdom of England that is one of aggression and involves naval warfare, shall be met by help and a declaration of war against the aggressor from the second power of this agreement. I trust that this agreement shall serve as a powerful deterrent to any aggressor in the North Sea. Furthermore, both our states shall commit to not entering any agreement with a third power that undermines this agreement.

May our two states be blessed by G-d Himself in our efforts for peace,

King John Edward II, King of England

The Most Holy Byzantine Empire of Gothia

Ιερά Βυζάντιο

Image

July 3rd, 1672
Imperial Palace of Byzantium, Doros, Crimea
Emperor Constantine II's Chambers

It is another sunny summer day in Crimea. Palms and cypress trees blow in the subtropical air, below the blazing sun. As usual for the time of year, the Emperor sits on his porch, enjoying the weather. He has just woken up, and is enjoying his breakfast in the cool morning breeze, alongside his dog, a proud looking Siberian husky. Little does he know the Bear of Novgorod is about to come to blows officially with the Eagle of Byzantine Gothia.

He eats a delicious buttered pastry, and is about to consume another when Ioannis Ithi, his Grand Marshall enters, bowing curtly as usual and taking a seat. However this time he is not alone, he brings the Emperor's chief Foreign Minister, who bears a declaration of war from Novgorod. The Emperor quickly scans it, before slamming it on the large wooden table with a large 'thump' as his meaty hand smacks it. He looks at the Foreign Minister, who nods knowingly. Somewhat redundantly, the Emperor booms, "Declare war on those Slavic bastards...IMMEDIATELY!"

"Yes my liege," the Foreign Minister says timidly, before hurrying off of the terrace. A declaration of war is wired to Novgorod's Prince, reciprocating their actions. Additionally, a notification is wired to the Patriarch of Constantinople, requesting the prayers of the Church, despite the fact that the war is against another Greek Orthodox power.

"Now that it's official," the Grand Marshal begins, "Shall we began making plans for war?"

Immediately the Emperor becomes professional. He wants to teach the Novgorodians a lesson, but secretly he is ashamed his fear tactics failed at scaring off the large neighbor to the north. In his mind the war is not so much about securing the arctic wastes as it is about securing Gothia's rightful place as the premier land power of Asia. He knows his weak naval force out of Yamalos will not be enough to stop the mighty maritime power from seizing parts of, if not all of, the Arctic coast of Gothia. However, he also realizes that it is useless land anyway.

"What are our chances of achieving a victory on land, Ioannis?" He states bluntly, after much pondering.

"Well, truth be told, I think we can do very well. We have superior numbers, and perhaps superior landships. I think there is a decent chance we could seize much of their steppe land, and we will definitely be able to repel any invasion."

The Emperor is relieved, having feared the worst.

"Well, I want the First, Second, and Third Infantry and Armored Divisions of the Army of Crimea and the Army of the Volga that was mobilized a few weeks ago to be deployed by armor train and via marching to..."

The Grand Marshal interrupts, "Our intelligence tells us they are deploying to siege either Tura or Kaslikos(OOC: Qasliq, in Crimean Gothic)."

Angry at being interrupted, the Emperor thunders, "Then I want the troops to be deployed there. And on the coast...I want the defense forces to assist in evacuating any non-Turkic settlers, then I want to deploy the contingent that raided 'New Malmo' to raze our settlements on the coast."

"Sir, our own settlements?"

"Yes, our own. But before that, I want as many of our Arctic Fleet as possible to be evacuated. If possible, I want the ships removed from the sea, and to be transported by rail back inland. And after that is done, everything must be burned, or destroyed within a 100 mile perimeter of the sea. Crops, infrastructure, and settlements. Then I want the 50,000 irregulars from the Army of the Orient to establish a defensive line at that 100 mile perimeter."

The Grand Marshal looks confused at this act of self destruction, as it seems rash. "Sir- why would we destroy our own land?"

"Ioannis, you and I both know we cannot win in the sea. We are not a maritime power. We need to minimize losses at sea, and prevent the dirty Slavs from launching an amphibious invasion. There needs to be nothing for them to take, and no way to get far inland."

"Yes sir."

The Grand Marshal exits. He walks down to his office, where he prepares orders. The First, Second, and Third Infantry and Armored Divisions of the Army of Crimea and the Army of the Volga are ordered to travel by rail to 50 miles East of Tura, and rendezvous. The total force numbers near 80,000, with thousands fighting with the motor cavalry made up of landships. They are accompanied by around 250 artillery pieces. Additionally, he signs the orders for the levying of 50,000 Nogays from the Army of the Orient to establish a defensive line 100 miles South of the Arctic Ocean coast. The troops used against New Malmo are ordered to travel to the coast for infrastructure destroyment.

The troops are expected to arrive at their respective locations by the 13th of July, by which time many of the ships from the Arctic Fleet will be transported elsewhere, mostly to inland dry ports, and the entire colony will be all but destroyed.

Tawantinsuyu

The Four Quarters

”Qhapah Kamay, Wapu Awqaq”

That was the new saying among the Administration. It meant “Enrich the Government, Strengthen the Military”. That was the motto of every policy that Sapa Inka Rimaq Yupanki implemented. Everything was working toward the eventual goal of Tawantinsuyu having the technological and industrial capacity to complete her conquest of the world. First was the reformation of the Cult of Inti to include parts ensuring the efficiency and efficacy of both the laborers and the government and to have the people obey the command of the Sapa Inka without hesitation. Then was the renovation of the Mitma System, where families would be forcefully resettled around the empire depending on where they were needed the most, ensuring stability and a healthy mix of assimilated ethnicities around the Four Quarters. Next was the Mit’a System being revamped, where men from across the nation would be drafted into government labor service for a certain part of the year, in order to quickly complete projects in need of unskilled labor, such as the construction of rails, roads, factories, terraces, farms, or just to be worked in the factories for some time. Then the bureaucracy was reformed. This new Cult of Inti promoted efficiency, and Rimaq, knowing full well that this was all part of his plan, took complete advantage of this and used it to persecute any inefficient bureaucrats. The khipu, too, were transcribed into paper and pen. While the khipu are beautiful and amazing, they are also unwieldy and, to be frank, inefficient, so instead they have been all but replaced in the government. The latin alphabet has replaced the knots and colors, but a khipu copy of official documents is always made, just in case.

These reforms would take some years to fully change the nation, even with such efficiency in the government, but eventually Tawantinsuyu would be turned into the industrial giant of the continent.

One of the most ambitious infrastructural projects in the history of Tawantinsuyu was about to commence. As they say, “All Roads Lead the Qosqo”, well soon that will be true for the wood and steel railroads about to be built. Tens of thousands of miles of track would be laid, allowing for the greatest connections between suyu and capital. Every active duty soldier has been drafted into the labor forces, as have almost five hundred thousand mit’a laborers. The rails should be complete within the next five years, and from there the industry of the nation will only grow. Imagine it. A hundred thousand pickaxes, a hundred thousand shovels, hundreds of thousands singing and chanting men. Steam-powered machines to bore through rock, machines to pave roads, machines to lay wooden beams… Beautiful. At the same time, in order to push for further productivity, every person between the ages of six and twenty-five, when they become working adults, is to be forced to take literacy classes. It is the job of the people to ensure they are competent and able to complete their work and further our nation. The million minor projects we have all are part of a plan, an immense plan, one that will rock the world.

Captain Zhu

"Such color" Zhu was the first to say, struck by awe of the head dress the man wore. He was wearing jade, the color of which he had never seen, he didn't even it could be that green. By his appearance alone the men knew he must have been of immense importance in this land. Zhu was the first to bow followed by his men. He had thought of taking out his notes and writing of the man's appearance, but that could be accomplished at a later date.

They followed the man over the city looking many looking in awe at the awesome sight of what looked on. It seemed almost like an island surrounded by a sea of its own, connected to the outside world only by the many roads that stretched from its borders. Zhu stayed still for almost an hour taking in every detail of the city ahead of him before motioning towards the feathered man that he would like to enter the marvel.

Tenochtitlan

The feathered man smiled and led the Chinese explorers into the immense city. The party would trek down the hill and follow the road into the city, crossing a drawbridge as they entered. A great parade was occurring in the streets of the capital in honor of the gracious foreigners visiting the land from some far off and well unknown empire. All around the city, it could be seen. Men dressed in the pelts of jaguars and others covered in the feathers of eagles did elaborate dances with their weapons made of wood and obsidian. There were women dancing as well, wearing colorful skirts, their bodies heavily painted, and their limbs decorated lightly. They called out all praises to the Sun for the visiting Chinese men, the friendly strangers. The feathered man led them down the street as all this occurred, loud music blaring all across the city. Drums, flutes, and whistles would fill their ears. A curiosity, the whistles would be shaped as various animals, and mimicked the noises of the animals they resembled.

The men would be led to the Grand Temple in the heart of the city, the sacred district. It was a structure of gleaming white stone, with red and vibrant blue paint applied near-perfectly along the base. Eternally burning fires were at the top, releasing long trails of smoke into the sky. It stood nearly 60 meters tall, 100X80 meters in base area. The rail along the staircase was made to resemble a winding dragon, with the head carved at the bottom. A heavily decorated priest wearing paint as black as the night, with a skull pattern in white painted on his face, stood above the crowd. He shouted rhetoric to which the crowds all cheered loudly. This priest of death seemed to be angrier and angrier with each passing moment, telling stories of victory and glory. The music accompanied him, getting louder and angrier as he did so. Four priests would drag a man up the steps of the temple, the steps themselves stained with red streams. Soon came performers doing dances and men with whistles in the shape of a skull. The man was taken to the top and laid across an altar, his gut facing to the sky. Members of the crowd began to prick themselves so that they may commit bloodletting, adding to the sacrifice. The death-priest raised his obsidian dagger into the air, The people holding the skull whistles starting to blow on them. The dagger was dug into his abdomen, and he began to panic. The priest dug his hand into the body and, in 30 seconds flat, pulled out the severed and beating heart of the man. He looked at it in terror before blacking out in mere seconds. The heart was held to the sky in all of the cardinal directions before being placed in an altar and burned, while the head of the victim was lopped off by one of the priests. The head was rolled down the stairs, where dancers with a net caught it, and the body soon followed, but it was instead allowed to hit the ground. The ceremony was, for the moment, over.

The feathered man sucked on his pricked finger for a moment before leading the group to the palace, a structured and tiered building which stood out from the rest. They were brought into the palace where the empress stood and acknowledged them. She began to speak, reciting a long-winded speech about lordship and returning. It was a polite speech that, if misinterpreted, might lead one to believe she had thought they were gods. In truth, it was a gesture of dominance and power. After all, a country as powerful as the Aztecs had every ability to show politeness. It was part of Nahua culture to be polite not only for its own sake, but to exaggerate it to show dominance and power. Thus, she finished her speech and greeted them, with a scholar nearby drawing every detail of the Chinese men's appearance.

Vienna, the Imperial Capital of the Holy Roman Empire, the Hofburg Imperial Palace
In the morning before the start of the military parade in Vienna, the Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand Maria of Wittelsbach, Duke of Bavaria, having just arrived in the capital, went directly to the Hofburg Palace to meet with Leopold I, the Emperor. The two spent the entire morning discussing matters of state in a secret meeting.

The position of the Holy Roman Empire in today's Europe was of course, pretty... tense. While the HRE was a continental power, a good industrial state, and it had a great army, the Italian states, its southern neighbors, were always better and stronger. The Empire's position in the center of Europe was as much of a disadvantage as it was an advantage. The problem of being landlocked was of course also present... and the Empire was looking with envious eyes at the coastline of the Hanseatic League, which was no secret. In order to survive, the HRE needed to expand its diplomatic relations. And for that, the Chancellor send a couple of messages to other nations of Europe, the first batch of a series of diplomatic messages that were going to be sent soon.

To His Highness, Rurik IV, Grand Prince of Novgorod,

I am writing your Highness today in the name of my Lord, Emperor Leopold I, to express the Holy Roman Empire's most sincere desire to have more friendly relations with the Republic of Novgorod. We think that both our countries can profit from a mutual agreement, and that in the situation of the world today, our two nations would better work together against a common foe.. as they say, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

The Holy Roman Empire would like to send an ambassador to Novgorod, and we will send John Charles of Wittelsbach, Count Palatine of Birkenfeld at Gelnhausen, my younger brother. He will be invested with all the necessary powers to discuss the necessary agreements with Novgorod, and a Novgorodian ambassador would be more than welcome at the Imperial Court of Vienna. We hope that this will lead to good relations between the Holy Roman Empire and the Republic of Novgorod.

Signed,
Ferdinand Maria of Wittelsbach, Duke of Bavaria, Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, in the name of,

His Imperial Highness, Leopold I, by the grace of God chosen Holy Roman Emperor, forever August, King of Germany, King of Bohemia, Croatia, Slavonia, Rama,Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Brabant, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, Margrave of Moravia, Duke of Luxemburg, of the Higher and Lower Silesia, of Württemberg and Teck, Prince of Swabia, Count of Habsburg, Tyrol, Kyburg and Goritia, Landgrave of Alsace, Marquess of the Holy Roman Empire, Burgovia, the Enns, the Higher and Lower Lusace, Lord of the Marquisate of Slavonia, etc. etc.

To His Highness, Duke Giovanni Sforza VII of Milano

Your Highness, I am writing this message today in the name of my Lord, Emperor Leopold I. I would like to express the full desire of the Holy Roman Empire to have more friendly relations with the Duchy of Milan. As you know, the times when the Holy Roman Empire was attempting to establish its dominance over Italy are long gone, and this is all in the past. I think that both of our nations would benefit for mutual agreements, especially since Venice is a threatening presence for both of our nations.

The Holy Roman Empire would like to send Joseph Clemens of Bavaria as our envoy and ambassador to Milan, in order to serve as the Emperor's representative at any discussions that might be held. The Holy Roman Empire would like to propose a trade agreement, and at least a non-agression pact, although that will have to be discussed. We hope that this will lead to better relations between the Grand Duchy of Milan and Genoa and the Holy Roman Empire.

Signed,
Ferdinand Maria of Wittelsbach, Duke of Bavaria, Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, in the name of,

His Imperial Highness, Leopold I, by the grace of God chosen Holy Roman Emperor, forever August, King of Germany, King of Bohemia, Croatia, Slavonia, Rama, Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Brabant, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, Margrave of Moravia, Duke of Luxemburg, of the Higher and Lower Silesia, of Württemberg and Teck, Prince of Swabia, Count of Habsburg, Tyrol, Kyburg and Goritia, Landgrave of Alsace, Marquess of the Holy Roman Empire, Burgovia, the Enns, the Higher and Lower Lusace, Lord of the Marquisate of Slavonia, etc. etc.

To His Highness, King John Edward II of Lancaster, King of England

Your Highness, I am writing this message today in the name of my Lord, Emperor Leopold I of the Holy Roman Empire, in order to express the Holy Roman Empire's desire to improve its relations with the Kingdom of England. I believe that it would be highly beneficial to both our countries if we would mutual agreements in multiple fields. The Holy Roman Empire wishes to send Maximilian Philipp Hieronymus, Duke of Bavaria-Leuchtenberg to London as the Holy Roman ambassador and envoy to England. He will be invested with full powers to discuss in the name of the Emperor any necessary agreements and any necessary English dynastic claims in the Holy Roman Empire.

Signed,

His Imperial Highness, Leopold I, by the grace of God chosen Holy Roman Emperor, forever August, King of Germany, King of Bohemia, Croatia, Slavonia, Rama, Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Brabant, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, Margrave of Moravia, Duke of Luxemburg, of the Higher and Lower Silesia, of Württemberg and Teck, Prince of Swabia, Count of Habsburg, Tyrol, Kyburg and Goritia, Landgrave of Alsace, Marquess of the Holy Roman Empire, Burgovia, the Enns, the Higher and Lower Lusace, Lord of the Marquisate of Slavonia, etc. etc.

The Admiral took the beads.

"Ahh! A good gift for my wife or perhaps daughter. Still, beautiful."

He then bend down patting away the sand into a path. He lined it with pebbles and made mounds. He got up and pointed at it hoping that the natives understood he was looking for a city. By now supplies had been unloaded as a small port was going to built.

It certainly took the natives a while to understand that the everything was supposed to represent a city. They talked among themselves as the foreigner played with the sand, and only after a few minutes and the finished formation of the fake city did they seem to grasp the idea. The elder simply said the word "Altepetl" in a raspy voice before making a moat around the sand city, connecting it to the ocean to let water flow into the moat. He points to this and states "Tenochtitlan", in hopes that they understand what he is trying to say.

"It appears that their city is this Tenoshitla. Or how ever you pronounce that."

"Makes sense. Surrounded by water though it seems."

"No matter though Admiral."

"Well let's follow them!"

He turned to the natives and pointed to the path the natives had come from and then pointed to the sand map. He knew they would understand he wanted to go to the city.

Northwest of Qashliq,
July 11th

Over a week of travel had gone by, and the Novgorodian army had reached their siege destination. The infantry had arrived on the 7th, while the artillery taking a different route had arrived on the 9th. Not long later and they had joined forces outside the city they were to capture. Supply lines from Abinsk were set up and secured, some men staying behind to guard them. Provisions had been delivered to the city, with more coming everyday. As long as nothing attacked them, the army would have enough supplies to wage war for months. Adrian Verenich sat atop of a horse circling their army, giving out commands and explaining their strategy. Under his orders fortifications to their southern flank were to be built, mostly using concrete, with a few of their larger guns sticking out. Artillery was readied, with adequate charcoal and ammunition to blast Qashliq to rubble. All was going well, when the scouts returned. Verenich dug his spurs in, and galloped up to meet them.

"Good to see you're unhurt, what news have you?" he asked. The scouts smiled at each other, and began.

"The city's barely garrisoned, not more than a few hundred badly equipped guards. If we attack soon, we can most likely take the city by the time their army reinforces." It was Verenich's turn to smile then. He dismissed the scouts, and hurried back to camp shouting out orders.

"Load up the artillery! Start shovelling that coal! We're commencing our attack within the hour!" Men scrambled to do as they were told, setting up for the siege. Of the 400 artillery pieces, a good 150 were armed and ready within 10 minutes of the order going out, and Verenich was not a patient man.

"Ready!" The hulking engine started churning the fuel inside, sending smoke bellowing out the top while pressure built up. "Aim!" Most barrels were already calibrated to hit the city walls, but a final few adjustments happened, for a select few to hit the inner city itself. "Fire!" The projectiles were propelled forward in a great blast of steam, heating up the entire camp for a brief while. They crashed into the walls and city of Qashliq, and Verenich ordered them to be loaded again.

The Arctic Novgorodian Ocean
Luka Ogiyevich now commanded the navy, and the admiral was intent on making a bold first impression. The collection of fishing boats and dinghies the Mongols claimed to be a navy was weak, and if they stood to fight they'd be sunk. He had ordered a pair of Icebreakers to scout ahead, staying deep in the ice where they were practically untouchable. Scouting was important, even on the open ocean. Reports they'd been getting were that the Mongol navy was non-existent. Either a mutiny, they sailed away, or some giant sea kraken had risen up from the ocean floor to fight for Novgorod. As long as this stayed the norm, Luka had ordered for their major port cities to be sacked and taken, with marines arriving in a week's time to secure the northern coast, with no push inland till the battle on land was firmly won.

Novgorod
"They declared war did they? Honestly the nerve of those barbarians surprises even me!" Rurik was raging in his palace at the declaration of war from their enemy, despite themselves dealing the first blow. Some less important members of the military were in the room with him, as well as Fedot Uvarov, head of the experimental research branch. All men in the room were passing glances, unsure whether to say anything.

"They want a goddamned war, I'll give them a goddamned war! Fedot!" The researcher cocked his head up. "I want to you to send word to your department, send out the two or three working airships we have, fully loaded with bombs and ammunition. And get those landships on the railway east, I want our most advanced forces going up against these warmongers." Fedot bowed timidly and left, but now before pulling out a letter.

"My Prince, this arrived yesterday from the Germans, an offer of alliance."

"The Germans? The bastards who contest our rightful sea? Why should we ally them."

"The other Germans, those claiming to be Roman."

"Should've said so, I'll respond at once, via telegram." Rurik left and did just that.

To: Ferdinand Maria of Wittelsbach, Duke of Bavaria, Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, in the name of,

His Imperial Highness, Leopold I, by the grace of God chosen Holy Roman Emperor, forever August, King of Germany, King of Bohemia, Croatia, Slavonia, Rama,Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Brabant, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, Margrave of Moravia, Duke of Luxemburg, of the Higher and Lower Silesia, of Württemberg and Teck, Prince of Swabia, Count of Habsburg, Tyrol, Kyburg and Goritia, Landgrave of Alsace, Marquess of the Holy Roman Empire, Burgovia, the Enns, the Higher and Lower Lusace, Lord of the Marquisate of Slavonia, etc. etc.

I, Grand Prince Rurik IV of the Novgorod Republic, reply to you today to say I believe your offer is great one, one which cannot be passed up! There is a mighty and evil menace that exists in Europe, one which won't remain peaceful for long, and we ally against them if we are to come out of this the victors. Your ambassador will be welcomed with open arms here in Novgorod, and when I find a spare moment in the war I wage I will organize for an ambassador to take up residence in Vienna. Perhaps my brother, or another respected member of our elite.

Yours sincerely,

Rurik IV, Grand Prince of the Novgorod Republic, blessed and adored by God, chosen leader of the Novgorodian people, champion and defender of the Novgorodian church, King of Sweden and the Swedes, Grand Duke of Finland, Lord of the Baltic, Commander of the Novgorodian Army and Naval Forces

And they did understand indeed. The group talked amongst each other once more, and selected a young man to guide them. The elder pointed to them, and to the young man. They referred to him as "Cuali", and once he had been appointed, the others left. After a few gestures asking them all to follow, he set out on the roads. His pace was fairly quick, although he never went too fast as to leave the foreigners behind. He followed a wide road to the capital of the land, making few stops along the way except at the designated rest stops built along the highway.

Westminster, London

A special committee was convening in Westminster Abbey this morning. The purpose of the committee was to finalise the King's request for a Lancastrian succession in the Duchy of Lorraine.

The Duchy of Lorraine, located on the western peripheries of the Holy Roman Empire, had been ruled by the appropriately named House of Lorraine ever since 1473. Now, the last Duke of Lorraine, Duke Nicholas II (or Nicholas Francis), had died without any male issue, leaving no clear heir. However, his daughter Marie Anne of Lorraine had been married to King Edward VII of England, and thus was the mother of the incumbent English King, John Edward II. The royal family had proposed an English Succession, by which the late Duke's grandson John Edward II of Lancaster, would succeed him as Duke of Lorraine.

The legal basis for the succession was both solid and questionable. The most important legal document of the House of Lorraine was the Testament of the dynasty's founder, Duke René II (1451 - 1508); it had stated that the duchy could not bypass the male lineage. While this seemed to repudiate any English Succession, as the King was related to the deceased Duke through the Duke's daughter, his mother.

However, to complicate the matter, Duke Henry II was succeeded in 1624 by his daughter Nicole. The House of Lorraine and the States-General accepted Nicole's succession, and the Testament had appeared to be bypassed. However, Nicole's husband Charles of Lorraine (who was also her cousin), who was known to not get along well with his wife, successfully petitioned to the States-General to terminate the reign of Nicole - based on the Testament - and to give him the Duchy, reasoning that he could succeed Henry II through being his son-in-law and of being from the House of Lorraine. He was successful in this, ousting his justifiably angry wife and becoming Duke. Charles IV eventually abdicated in favour of his brother Nicholas Francis, due to French pressure.

It was this Nicholas Francis, or Nicholas II, who had married off his daughter to the future King of England, John Edward II. Now, the royal family and House of Lancaster believed it had a good backing to its proposed English Succession. It would mean the first English monarch to possess a territory in the Holy Roman Empire, and the first English monarch in the Reichsrat of the Empire. It would also no doubt help improve ties with the power that was still so central to English understanding of the continent.

At the conclusion of the meeting, virtually all supported the English Succession and a message to Vienna was composed. In addition, the heraldry of the King and his Kingdom were to be changed to incorporate the arms of Lorraine.

To His Imperial Majesty Emperor Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor of the German Nation
and to His Imperial Chancellor, His Highness Duke Ferdinand Maria of Wittelsbach,

I look upon the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, and the Habsburg Emperor's place in it, as central to Europe and her prosperity. The Kingdom of England shall continue to support the Empire throughout our affairs, as befits the central monarchy of Christendom upon which all other monarchies rest.

It is with this state of mind that I wish to implore yourself and the Imperial Court of Vienna regarding a justice to be done to myself and my monarchy. The late Duke of Lorraine, Nicholas Francis, has left behind no male issue to succeed him in the normal fashion. As has been established in the Testament of Duke René II in the 15th century, only through male lineage could the true Dukes of Lorraine succeed. However, it is also true that Duke Charles IV succeeded through his wife Nicole from his father-in-law, Duke Henry II. Likewise, the late Nicholas Francis' daughter Marie Anne was married to the King of England, Edward VII, my father.

I have thus been led to rightfully believe that the Duchy of Lorraine shall now be passed to me, and my House of Lancaster, to succeed Duke Nicholas Francis. I trust in the integrity and understanding of yourself and your monarchy to ensure that this succession is allowed and carried out to the full. I shall be sending a delegation to Vienna consisting of the Ducal representation, who shall proceed to govern the Duchy of Lorraine in my name through the established States-General; they will first proceed to Vienna to represent myself to your Imperial Majesty and to receive the Imperial blessing for their mission.

Westminster has received the German ambassador, Duke Maximilian Philipp Hieronymus of Bavaria-Leuchtenberg, with great warmth and gratitude. We shall reciprocate by sending an English ambassadorial team to Vienna, headed by the trustworthy Baron Edmund David of Wirral, to represent the Kingdom before your great Imperial Majesty. In addition, the Earl George William of Devonshire (who is of Franconian origins) shall come to Vienna to represent the Duchy of Lorraine in the Reichsrat.

May the relationship between the Empire and the Kingdom of England remain strong and supportive for the whole of Christendom!

King John Edward II of Lancaster, King of England, Duke of Lorraine

Feś
La Serenissima Republicca di Marocco

Image
Roberto sat on the main terrace of the Palazzo Ducale gazing over the hills of Feś below him. Once his grandfather had inhabited this very palace and once again it was the home of the Gallos, one of the most powerful families in Marocco, and to which Roberto belonged. He himself did not consider family matters a priority, a striking difference between him and his ancestors. He viewed that the various trivial familial disputes plagued Marocco's government and that it hampered its efficiency. He had always valued efficiency, it had been hammered into him during his years in the army. You learned to be effective and efficient with the supplies and men you had on hand. Part of him longed for the days when he was a colonel in the desert. They were simpler days. With less stress, and paper work. He sat and began sipping on his tea. He had become distracted and now the tea was barely warm. He was about to send for a new batch but he had more pressing issues to worry about.
It seemed that a war had broken out in the East on the steppes. This would not directly affect Marocco, but it could have future implications with trade in that region. He was concerned with more long term issues however. To the south the protectorate of Songhai had sent a letter of protest, claiming that it was concerned for its security claiming encroachment on its borders by the English and Iberians. Marocco had stood by when the English took The Gambia, viewing it as a useless strip of swamp. Besides, Marocco didn't trade using the river but using roads and growing rail system across the Sahara. The expansion of the Iberian colonies had troubled Marocco though as they encroached on traditional grazing land of the Fulani, who were particularly influential in Songhai. He knew that he must do something to ensure that the Europeans did not go further inland. Roberto summoned his chief Field Marshal Nouri Belkacem, a aging Berber general.
"Sir, what have you summoned me for?"
"I want to deploy a permanent force to the southern border of Songhai as well as along The Gambia. I will leave the specific details to you but I suggest a force of 2,000 deployed to the border region around The Gambia and 5,000 to the southern border of Songhai. In both locations the Songhai government will construct forts for the accommodation of the soldiers."
"Sir, I would also like to bring to your attention the situation in Berberistan. There are rumors that they may be forming an alliance with Venice. I suggest we strike now to discourage Venice from pursuing the alliance."
"What exactly do you suggest. Even a large frontal assault would take massive casualties and be hampered by their line of defenses"
"We should hire a force of Tuaregs, arm them with revolvers and repeating rifles, and send them as a distraction. Say a force of 6,000 Tuareg horsemen. We send these troops, without any flags or emblems of Marocco, on a raid to the more lightly defended regions of their nation, near lake Chad. This will distract them and they will think it is just another nomadic raid. They will move their troops south to deal with the threat. While their troops are occupied in the south our troops will quickly mass in the north and make an assault along the coast, taking the most populated regions first. Our navy will similarly mass and move quickly, isolating Sardinia and attacking their fleets in their harbor. We will then wait them out, starving their units in the desert until they surrender while harassing them with continued dragoon and light Calvary assaults. After this they will be forced to capitulate."
"What should be done about their overseas holdings?"
"Our allies in Japan may be willing to assist us in that regard. We have armed them in the past with steam powered ships and they could be used to take Bicol."
"Good. I will prepare a telegram and send it at once. Our navies combined will easily destroy whatever fleet they have mustered in the region. I will also seek the assistance of the Iberians and Milanese, perhaps they could be useful."
Nouri nodded and got up from the seat he had taken on the terrace.
"I will begin to make the proper arrangements regarding the Tuaregs. I'll wait for your order to muster the troops in the north. We must act fast, or else the Venetians may come to their assistance, and we wouldn't want that."
Roberto continued to sip on his tea as Nouri exited the terrace. He himself had become worried of Venice's increasing reach. They now had complete control of the Red Sea and they were ever expanding in India. It used to be that Maroccan merchants could travel the world and trade with anyone. Now the Europeans were conquering large swathes of land and dictating who could trade there. The Venetians must be stopped he thought, and Marocco must adopt the same strategies of the Europeans if they wished to stay competitive. He finished his tea and left to prepare several telegraphs.

The government of Marocco would like to extend its hand in friendship and comradery towards your proud nation. I understand that both of our nations share two powerful rivals in the region. Them being Venice and Berberistan. They are a threat to both of our nations security and it is time that that threat is dealt with. I hereby propose an alliance in the name of defeating Berberistan and reclaiming your rightful territory and the formation of a coalition in order to challenge the influence of Venice. If you are interested in such a proposal then you are invited to discuss the details with the diplomat personally sent to deliver this message.

July 5th, 1672
Western Mexican Coast

A day has passed since the Admiral and his men left the campsite. The man leading them, this Kuali, has led them through many small towns. The people had looked strange at them but they did not care a bit. They gave out candies and more mangoes as they went but kept some for themselves and whoever ruled this land. It was a rather good path but not much else was expected from what seemed a powerful civilization.

The Roads of Mexico

The Japanese were lead with great haste to the capital. Such curious creatures must surely be seen and known for all the empire. Past various rest stops they went, and past multiple cities which grew in size increasingly as they moved further inland. How much time had passed? Days? A week? It was hard to keep track as Cuali led them eagerly forth to the largest city in the known world, the Imperial Capital of Tenochtitlan. This was a city of grandeur that, Cuali expected, would bring a sense of sheer awe and wonder to the Japanese men as it would for any Mesoamerican. It held nearly 1/5 of the entire empire's population, and it should be forever known as the greatest city to ever see the face of the earth.

Along the way, the Japanese men would see many exotic creatures. They'd go through jungles, deserts, hills, grasslands, and see the various flora and fauna residing in each. Cuali also demonstrated quite the warrior spirit, at one time even scaring off a jaguar. Interactions with locals were minimal in the haste he had bestowed upon the foreigners, but there was one occasion whereby a medicine man was encountered travelling parallel to the group. He was not putting up a terrifying display of skulls and death like the priests, but instead offered a warm and comforting aura. He dressed humbly, wearing a kilt, a few necklaces of jade beads, and a headdress of eagle feathers. Cuali and this stranger enjoyed a nice talk, and he blessed them as they left. They were almost at the capital.

Tenochtitlan

And there it was. The grand imperial city. A sight to be seen, for sure. Gleaming white stone covered the city, massive in relation to everything seen so far. Canals and busy streets could be seen, artificial islands growing crops just beyond the borders. Many bridges leading into the city, all retractable, were seen. The freshwater lake sparkled in the sun, a tropical turquoise glow emanating from the whole body. Even from the hill, the crowds could be seen massing at the temple placed in the exact center, very close to being in-line with the sun and positioned that it would be perfectly in-line during the equinox. Cuali led them inside.

The people had all stared at them as they went through the city. Cuali was stopped eventually and informed that men looking very similar had entered the city not too long ago. He tried to explain the situation to his new friends, but sighed and led them into the city, past the temple where doomed chattel were lined up and awaiting their fate. He hurried to the palace to find that the empress was already in audience, although the guards mumbled to one another about the strangers. Cuali took the opportunity to relax and cool off in the shade, enjoying the decorated stone halls of the palace. It was not often he would get the opportunity, and his new friends had just granted him access with no questions. Multiple golden ornaments hung upon the walls, and a few painted stones as well.

After a few minutes, the guards called Cuali over. They explained to him that, since the newcomers and the other visitors appeared to be of the same kind, they should grant him access that they may meet up with the remainder of their party. The guards stepped aside, and Cuali gestured for his friends to follow him as he entered into the queen's reception area. A potentially unfortunate reunion might follow from the Chinese and Japanese, but the Nahua present thought to watch how they interacted.

Tenochtitlan

"A wonderful city! Just beautiful."

"I know Admiral, almost as beautiful as this jaguar skin! Though it appears we are going to that center building. The ruler perhaps?"

"Yes, I am a bit tired but brave faces men!"

They climbed the steps still gaping at the city when they entered. They saw guards positioned at every gate with a woman sitting on a throne. Their empress perhaps? But as they surveyed the room, they say the most horrific site! A CHINAMAN!

Zhu listened in patience as the empress spoke. He listened to she spoke and took the speech to be one of respect, it left him to wonder honestly. He didn't know what she said or even how to make out her words, but the tone in her words were calm polite, he took it to mean as though she was speaking up to him. Maybe she was accepting his unexpected breech into her land as one of friendship, maybe he was to be a god to these people, he saw no emperor here was it a position he was to fill? He kept quiet only listening to how she spoke only occasionally turning his head over to see how the others were responding, he spotted her people drawing him and his men and only directed his attention back to her. He was going to speak, he didn't know what he was going to say, but he deemed a response to her was necessary. That would be until he saw familiar faces.

The Japanese, how did they get here? How did they know of this land? Did the damn Indonesians tell them of this land as well? Yes, that must have been the case. He simply looked at them as they entered the room, he wouldn't be the first to initiate conversation though the surprised look on his face was followed by a stern and stoic expression.

Tenochtitlan

The Admiral gasped and looked at the empress. He made a sign across his neck as if killing someone, pointed at the Chinamen, and then pointed at the empress. His men grapsed their weapons ready to fire if need be.

"How did you get here! Did you get stuck here? Your junks turned into actual junk?"

Tenochtitlan

The empress watched with confusion as the two parties seemed to start bickering. She noticed the newcomers making a very clearly hostile gesture, purposefully informing her of their rivalry. She couldn't help but smirk at the strange happenings going on, but she sat back in her throne and allowed this all to go down. She spoke to her guards, informing them that should things turn explicitly violent, they were to intervene. Otherwise, they would sit back and watch the magic happen.

China
The blockade of the Yellow River by the Japanese was already proving a burden on Chinese trade, but the emperor stood in his resolve that his nation would not be bullied by the likes of the Japanese. This left only the Yangtze as the only main trade to the rest of Asia. As this issue faced the Shi the Imperial Court was called. The meeting was to be hosted in the capital city of Nanjing.

Imperial Court
(OOC: Just giving a brief outline of the meeting because of laziness)

The Imperial Court met and began discussing for three weeks. The chief principle of the court was decision proposed by the Minister of Relations, Shin Wei. He proposed fully moving away from China's policy of isolationism and adopting a policy of controlled contact. This proposal gained support from many of the court including Emperor Shi, the reasoning was that if China continued its policy of effectively excluding trade to Asia the Japanese would easily block all sea routes from Chinese trade, and thus weaken China. This spurred the fear of many in the room who feared Chinese influenced being replaced by Japanese hegemony. As the court concluded the emperor would speak privately with the Minster of Relations and Minister of War. As they spoke in his office his words were clear though his idea caused to the wonder and even worry. With the rest of Manchuria firmly under Chinese control, he gave the minister orders to begin moving troops along the border with Tibet. The emperor would personally draft a letter calling for their acceptance of Chinese hegemony over the country, this was to be done with the emperors greater purpose: reestablish the Silk Road. The Silk Road had previously been forgotten to the sands of time and left to decay. Though the opportunity of seeking trade in the west was still present between two great empires: Shi and Goth.

The emperor wanted the Minister of Relations to ready envoy of twenty delegates to travel into the lands of the Goth to their capital in Crimea.

Goth Envoy
The head of the envoy Heiping Li would be given a series of documents written, signed, and approved by the Minister of Relations. The documents called for five principle points that the Chinese hoped the Goths would approve of. They were to be titled as the "Nanjing Proposal":

1. Recognition of the current border between the Goths and Han.

2. Establishment of a trade route between the Shi and the Goths.

3. A promise and commitment of new of no hostile aggression or action to be taken by the Goth against the Shi or the Shi against the Goth.

4. Goth recognition of Han influence over Manchuria and Tibet

5. Shi recognition of Goth influence over Mongolia

The first three points of the proposal were to hopefully sponsor good relations and trade between China and the Goths while the last two were made with the plan of establishing a greater border between the two should Emperor Shi's plan come to light. As the papers were given to the head of the convey they set off immediately to the west to give these papers to the Goths.

Imperial Palace
The emperor looked over the maps of his land and shook his head. He knew what must be done, he had no idea how long the Japanese would sit in his harbor until they came looking for his countries submission. He and his people would hold unflinching in their resolve, they would not back down. He spent three hours drafting his letter to the Tibetans, he had hoped his words were not too harsh, but should war come it would come quick it needed to come quick. The empire was already under threat by the Japanese, the same would not be true for the Tibetans. He called over a servant and had a courier ride the message to the to Dalai Lama.

The Emperor's Letter:

[i]To His Holiness,
I know this letter comes to you in great inconvenience, but nonetheless it is of the utmost importance and I expect it to be treated as such. We are two kingdoms who have lived in tranquil peace for generation and beyond. I only wish to see this continue. The Tibetans have proved great allies to China in both times of war and peace, but know that now as a new dawn arises over the horizon this peace threatens to break. I must ask that you let Chinese troops and officials into your nation for the protection of both our securities. Should you accept peace shall be maintained, your way of life protected, and your culture kept prosperous. Should you decline and you will find your denial the greatest detriment to any lasting peace between our two kingdoms. I implore you to think and choose wisely.

-Emperor Shi Chen

As the letter was rode to the Dalai Lama, the Chinese forces numbering 39,000 began moving west along the border with Tibet.

A look of disgust and hatred came across Zhu's face. He turned to face the admiral seemingly unfazed by the gunfire. Inside however he counted just how many men their were before he began speaking. He didn't expect these soldiers to know his language despite how close their nations were and opted to speak in their tongue. "I don't expect you to speak the language of the Shi, so I will speak in your tongue, though again it is easy speaking the tongue of dog." He started, looking directly into the eyes of the admiral,"Is the way of the Japanese now? Win fights with numbers and guns, are your people so eager to be like the Europeans you opt to fight as cowardly as them? The matter of how we came here is none of your concern and I would wager one of our most beaten junks could sail miles around your steamboat if it were possible for us to touch against this land." He said with a smirk, finding pride having beaten the Japanese to this land.

The Four Quarters

While the progress of heavy industry is exciting, and its effects more obvious, light industry is equally important to the success of the industrial revolution in our state. While the massive steel mills churn out thousands of tons of metal to be used in our machines and weapons, and while the factories in the Southern Plains assemble great mechanical beasts to help till the soil and plant the seeds, while the canals and rails are being built, the hundreds of smaller factories are just as useful. Expertly made Runa Simi textiles, already the best in the world, are only being made better through the use of modern technology. A million little tools, from hammers to sickles to axes to pots and pans. A million shows and sandals. A million chairs and a million tables. These little industries not only gave the working masses invaluable experience for when the heavy-duty stuff came along, but they allowed for a flourishing trade market with the neighboring Europeans and tribes. Tribes that began to like the Sapa Inka. Tribes that began to grow accustomed to the Inka goods. Tribes that happened to lay atop valuable resources. Tribes that would happily submit to the Sapa Inka. So the Sapa Inka capitalized on this willingness to submit and recognition of superiority. Two great armies, the most modern that the Sapa Inka had, were marched into the territories. Great numbers of men armed with rifles, in colorful uniforms, feathered helmets, everything, marched into the occupied lands. In the South the plains were taken over, and three thousand families of horse and cattle breeders were brought along. In the North the jungle mountains were occupied, and the miners and woodcutters followed soon after. Rimaq planned, within the next two decades, to have these regions thoroughly Runa Simified, and from there to completely exploit their resources for the growing Runa Simi industrial machine. All their coal, all their ores, all their farmlands… Anything and everything that could possibly feed our industry.

Apumayta Yupanki, third younger brother of the Sapa Inka, had finally arrived in Venice, and while the smokestacks and palaces were beautiful, he immediately noticed the smell. He asked his guide, in Italian, “Why does it smell like this?”. His guide responded, in Venetian (although mutually intelligible), “Because of all the animals in the streets, and because of the smoke.” This made Apumayta a bit uneasy, he knew Qosqo would never be this smelly, but he could only pray it would stay just as pretty. “Where is the University?” Apumayta asked. “Away from the Lagoon, inland. Where it doesn’t smell.” This made Apumayta smile.

Pawaq was excited to see his brother again. It had been months since the two were together, having left Qosqo at different times, and soon they would study together! Pawaq would teach Apumayta all he had learned. He’d teach him about the bridges they made from steel, about the machines that forced the steam into so small a space that it came out faster than a bullet, about every mechanical wonder that existed in this city! How great it would be, to have a partner for once! Then, once his other brothers arrived, he’d study with them! And then with his cousins in Milan and Genoa, and his uncles in Rome, in a few years they would all go back to Qosqo and be the most respected of the family!

After Rimaq, of course.

Today, having met together in the Imperial Court of Vienna, having properly discussed the problem that was brought before them, the Imperial Diet and the Imperial Council of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, in the name of His Imperial Highness, Leopold I, by the grace of God chosen Holy Roman Emperor, forever August, King of Germany, King of Bohemia, Croatia, Slavonia, Rama,Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Brabant, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, Margrave of Moravia, Duke of Luxemburg, of the Higher and Lower Silesia, of Württemberg and Teck, Prince of Swabia, Count of Habsburg, Tyrol, Kyburg and Goritia, Landgrave of Alsace, Marquess of the Holy Roman Empire, Burgovia, the Enns, the Higher and Lower Lusace, Lord of the Marquisate of Slavonia, etc. etc., hereby officially proclaim:

The Imperial Diet and the Imperial Council of the Holy Roman Empire, in the name of Emperor Leopold I, officially recognize the claim of His Highness, John Edward II of House Lancaster, King of England on the ducal throne of the Duchy of Lorraine. Having examined the problem in question, the Imperial Diet and the Imperial Council have decided to overrule the dispositions of the testament of Duke Rene II of Lorraine. Since there are no direct male heirs of the last Duke of Lorraine, Nicholas Francis I, to succeed him in normal fashion, the Ducal title shall pass to John Edward II of House Lancaster.

The Imperial Diet and the Imperial Council of the Holy Roman Empire, in the name of Emperor Leopold I, have decided that in the name of friendship and trust, upon this new succession, the Duchy of Lorraine shall be elevated to the rank of a Principality of the Holy Roman Empire, and the Duke of Lorraine shall be elevated to the title of Prince of Lorraine.

Hereby, John Edward II of House Lancaster, King of England, shall be officially recognized as Prince of Lorraine, and Prince of the Holy Roman Empire, as long as he, from his position as Prince of Lorraine and Prince of the Holy Roman Empire, will ratify and accept the Imperial Constitution, based upon the Reichsreform of 1540, with all the rights and obligations that come with it, and from the same positions, will acknowledge his Imperial Highness, Leopold I, as by the grace of God chosen Holy Roman Emperor, forever August, King of Germany, King of Bohemia, Croatia, Slavonia, Rama, Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, Brabant, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola, Margrave of Moravia, Duke of Luxemburg, of the Higher and Lower Silesia, of Württemberg and Teck, Prince of Swabia, Count of Habsburg, Tyrol, Kyburg and Goritia, Landgrave of Alsace, Marquess of the Holy Roman Empire, Burgovia, the Enns, the Higher and Lower Lusace and Lord of the Marquisate of Slavonia.

A delegation of the Principality of Lorraine are expected to arrive in Vienna in front of His Imperial Majesty to receive the Imperial blessing in the name of John Edward II of House Lancaster, Prince of Lorraine and Prince of the Holy Roman Empire.

This is our decision, in the name of the glorious Emperor, and so it shall remain.

Long live the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, God bless Emperor Leopold!

Tenochtitlan

"Oh yes, only the Chinese could ride a broken ship. Then again, that is what they always steer. Compare our language of a dog? The Chinese are weak. Just look at the facts. Japan controls part of China. Where is the part of Japan China controls? Fight like Europeans?"

He took out a long katana and looked at the Captain.

"Let's fight you coward!"
