Maris knew this was useless because of the Byakugan, but it was simply a distraction for Maris's next move.

"Hey, supporting cast!" Maris shouted to Kurou and Zankuro. "Stay away from the smoke, in fact, start backing up. I don't know if this will work but it's worth a shot. Secret Gray Techinque: Fear the Reaper." After Shinigami finished putting out the smokescreen, it switch canisters to start emitting a brownish-orange gas. This was a special gas Maris created for any interrogations he had to do. It worked by affecting the nerve centers of a person's brain and made them realize their worst fear. Maris had yet to see anyone immune to the effects of the gas but he wouldn't put it past Revan to either not have a fear or esapse somehow.

Zankuro Masoka
The Forest of Death, The Land of Fire

Revan was fast; fast and strong. Zankuro didn't see Revan's ability to use his own attack against his comrades. Revan Uzumaki moves so quickly that it looked like he knew what Zankuro was going to do before he even did. This kind of power was insane. As Revan lunged at him, Zankuro barely had enough time to remove the Kinzotora trident from his back and block the strike. Now with some sort of water shield surrounding his skin, Zankuro had little chance of out preforming Revan at this close range; he needed to move further away.

"Hey, supporting cast! Stay away from the smoke, in fact, start backing up. I don't know if this will work but it's worth a shot. Secret Gray Techinque: Fear the Reaper." Maris shouted more orders. Zankuro liked the man less and less. Clearly, Revan was faster than he, and yet Maris released poisonous smoke, telling Zankuro to dodge it. If he was capable of dodging this smoke, he highly doubted it would restrict Revan's movement so much. Regardless, the rising smoke meant Zankuro had to move. He dashed to the side, closer to Kurou. He figured if anyone could give him some effective cover, it would be Kurou.

As he landed on the ground, he spun around to face the missing ninja. Zankuro thought for a moment of using the Kinzotora's jutsu, but dismissed the notion; the Kinzotora's jutsu worked much better against slower enemies, and in areas without so many darting actors. It wouldn't be able to catch Revan, and might trip up Maris or Kurou in the process. Without a good move, Zankuro stood by Kurou's side, his trident in his hands, protecting the man who knew Revan's capabilities.

It was odd, Revan's worst fear that is, it wasn't something anyone would expect given that they all thought he butchered two of the closest people to him. His greatest fear was having his family killed by Kurou. So when he jumped free of the smoke he didn't see Kurou and Zankuro, at least not the way they were. Instead he saw Zankuro, with Shinobu's head impaled on the end of his trident, and Kurou, with Kei's flame wreathed corpse at his feet.

Revan didn't burst into tears, or go into shock... He had grown far past such reactions. Instead he got rip-shit fucking pissed. In a moment, he went from a normal looking person (for a ninja) to a screaming lunatic wreathed in a red chakra, and letting loose enough killing intent that Kurou couldn't breath, he couldn't even move.

The red "chakra" was a side effect of Revan's redline array. It wasn't actually chakra, but it was much like the eight gate in the sense that it was evaporating blood. You see, all the chakra Revan was absorbing had to find a way in, that way in was Revan's pores. They were currently under an abnormal amount of stress, and as such they started to bleed. This blood was boiled with the nature chakra that didn't quite find a way into Revan but was still mingling around him.

One moment Revan was right outside the cloud, the next his fist was flying towards Kurou's head with a mach cone, what Kurou's thought would be his last were spent wondering whether Revan has the Kyubi's container now, or if he'd turned on the eight inner gates. Revan's fist reduced Kurou's head into pulp, which subsequently spattered against the tree behind him.

Kurou's heard a pop, and he inhaled a ragged breath. Everything was fine, he was alive... Revan was gone... it was a Clone the whole time. Such feats by a clone... Kurou sighed in worry, he hadn't felt those kinds of effcte by killing intent since he was still an academy student.

He turned his head towards Zankuro, "What just happened is now and A-Ranked secret until further notice... Holy fuck."

The Steel Maiden of the Rock
Okazaki Shinko

"Right," she replied, tossing a tiny scroll into the air, a small little chakra-powered device popping out, beginning to fly ahead of them at a higher speed, "That should give us some help in tracking them." She watched as it flew out of site, and a beeping noise started to report into her ear, a code of which she could understand if a target was found or not. A faint beeping told her that they were indeed close, but there was yet to be a clear sighting.

Shinko was half-worried, and half-amused when Haruka tripped but then happily said that the trap reminded him of where he was. "I remember when I was disabling traps back then and setting them up at different locations," she recalled, "Was kind of funny seeing the other teams get stuck in their own traps."

There was this one ninja, who always carried a violin... If only she were here right now...

Forest of Death
Konohagakure, Land of Fire

It wasn't easy for Shaoyun to keep chasing "Revan". The traps in the forest were quite the obstacle, although he had gone through the same exams in the past. Knowing an Uzumaki, they could possess the Byakugan, thanks to the marriage of the 7th with the heir of the Hyuuga clan, Hinata. As a result, the Uzumaki Clan's children might inherit the ability to use Byakugan from their parents. He knew that the reason that he's having much more trouble than "Revan" did was because "Revan" was using his Byakugan to detect the traps, while he would have to rely on his skills & knowledge from his past to get through, and "Revan" probably knew he was chasing him. He then heard an explosion, somewhere in the forest, though he's no where near it. "A battle, huh..?" he said as he continued pursuing. There was a chance that it could be Revan engaging a group of shinobis, though it could also be just another group of Genins battling for their scrolls. "This is Kurogami. Is there any Genin cell around this area?" he said on his radio. "No. According to our cameras, they're already inside the tower." the examiner replied. "Tch.... Tell any other Jonins already inside the forest to find the source! It could possibly be our target!" he said. He then continued pursuing "Revan", passing through more traps on the way, but keeping up the pace.

"I did not fall into traps," Haruka said, remembering the second exam that he had taken, one with his second team of Ashi and Shinobu. He remembered the negative attitude toward he had toward everyone, and the snide look he shot Shinko's way when he first saw her more than the trap-laying and ambushes. "I was not particularly pleasant character, was I?" Haruka rhetorically asked.

"Yep," she replied nonchalantly, "You really were stuck up back then. But look at you now, taking up the family business and helping the economy of a different village, you truly have changed since the exams..."

Faintly seeing a trace of a familiar tree, Shinko remembered when she had first clashed with Haruka. Albeit only a brief confrontation, it seemed that the both of them knew they had found someone different from the rest, and parted ways as they were extracted by their teams. It wasn't until the finals did they meet again, at opposite sides of the ring.

Haruka smiled hearing Shinko's approval. "It got me to stop black and red all the time and having bangs," Haruka chuckled.

Something about the phrase Shinko used had given him a grin. The kunoichi had nearly sent him off the edge with that series of attacks to knock him off-balance. When she dropped that word, Haruka could not take-it anymore.
"'Justice'? What do you know about justice?!" Haruka said incredulously, ceasing his attack. "Justice isn't a word you can just throw-out there. Justice is retributive, recompense for past serious wrongdoing that can only be resolved with blood. 'The good of the village'? You really care about that social construct? Those ninja out there who share your headband, they shall start attacking you when they see that you have the opposite scroll and kill your friends just to minimize competition in the finals!" Haruka explained, not disguising his particular feelings. "Okay, you are reminding me of somebody, so I will give you this; do not repeat the mistakes I made. They will get your friends killed. You remind me of my younger self--a naive, hot-headed idiot who does not know when to give-up on old-fashioned notions," Haruka spat. He dusted-off his black and red jacket as he prepared for an attack, the implications of the two ideas presented together making it very clear what he thought. "First gate. . ."
"Haruka do not waste our time and hers with whatever petty matters you are engaging in," a voice called from a person who just arrived, knocking his cane into the ground as team-mates followed its call. "Whatever your problem with the kunoichi is, we have to get going. We have what we need, now stop," Ashi ordered, Haruka starring back for a moment before he relaxed his stance.
"I hope to see that you learn to not repeat my mistakes should we meet again, or else you will have to learn them the way I did."

A teenaged boy came rushing through the branches toward Haruka and Shinko before having his arm caught by the mouth of a large dog with green tint toward the roots of its fur as the two crashed landed on a lower branch.
"Midorimaru!" Haruka uttered in surprise, looking at the struggling boy, an early teen with an armband of the Okazaki logo on the arm not gripped by the enraged dog, though that was only momentary. A pop of smoke happened and the person was revealed to be a much older ninja whose headband had a horizontal scratch through its symbol. Haruka was dazed, momentarily forgetting that he was allowed to intervene against rogue ninja as the person tried to reach for a sword on his back.

Shikyo
Shikyo rummaged through more old files and desk draws, looking for more information. It was as if Orochimaru split up his data on each of the Akatsuki members on purpose to keep it away from prying eyes, although he did find relatively more files on Sasori of the Red Sand. Shikyo kept any information on all the Akastsuki members he found but the only ones he was really interested in were the files on Kakuzu. Finding only a little more information, Shikyo left the current hideout he was in and head to another one.

As Shikyo stepped outside, he gripped his chest and almost fell over in pain, coughing up a little blood. One of his hearts just died and he would have to replace it in order to regain control of a chakra nature. He stabbed his hand in his chest and ripped out the now dead heart, throwing it on the ground. The black tentacles that now made up most of Shikyo's body moved to sew the whole in his chest shut and Shikyo kept moving. "Eh, that was a weak heart anyway."

Kurou shook his head, "It was my error, I assumed he hadn't improved much in the last twelve years, and led you into a suicidal battle... I was very wrong... Let's just get to the tower and alert the rest of our forces that Revan knows how to open the eight inner gates, or is a jinchurikki." Kurou started leaping between tree branches towards the center tower of the forest. He was ignoring his burns in favour of praying that Revan wasn't able to convince anyone of what actually happened twelve years ago. Gods willing, there was no way anyone could stop him if he wanted to.

Revan frowned, the memories that came to him from his first clone were -in the words of a certain clan- troublesome. It was discernible now that it was either a genjutsu, or something in the smoke that made the clone hallucinate. But which delivery method was still a mystery.

Now he awaited news from his other clone.

The clone being pursued by Shaoyun stopped, landing on a branch high above the forest floor. It had grown bored of his pursuer's lack of action, and decided to force their hand. A lengthy sword appeared from a storage seal on it's belt and was now being propped up on it's shoulder. "Are you gonna do anything or should I just kill you and save the time?"

"Forest of Death

"Ho? And here I thought we could talk..." Shaoyun said when "Revan" turned around & pulled out his sword. "I had hoped you would actually go somewhere that might be you target, but oh well. How that it's come to this..." he said as he began to draw his katana with his right hand, while forming seals & made a new one with his left arm. "Before we start, I just wanted to know... Why did your mission went wrong? What happened during that mission that costed you your teammates lives? I have some friends from the Uzumaki Clan, and as far as I know, they were not the kind to kill their own friends or betray them... Not to mention, your mission record were the real deal..." he asked "Revan" while being extremely cautious. Knowing full well the capabilities of an Uzumaki in general, he kept his guard up. Taking the ridiculous amount of chakra that an Uzumaki usually have & Byakugan into calculation, he started forming a strategy to capture him. "Let me tell you though, I'm probably one of the few that actually wants to know the truth. Your great-great grandfather (7th Hokage) was my inspiration, and I will not stand by as the name of the person of my inspiration's clan get sullied." he said as he prepared himself.

The other, a Yamanaka -a clan whose understanding of the mind and mental strain, injury, and the human mind is beyond all but those in the highest understanding of medicine- is declared braindead from a mild concussion and buried a day later."

"The body of an Uchiha is never found, despite the reporting survivor declaring that she was stabbed though the heart, and that her body never moved during the whole fight -which lasted twenty minutes-. The only survivor's wounds indicate that he was not damaged by chakra nor any broadly shaped blades. I do not use Kunai."

"Finally, the biggest clue, and the only one I don't understand. A majority of T&I members who were a part of the investigation are transferred to front line duty and killed or retired within the month. The only three involved who weren't subject to this? Kurou Gāgoiru, the 10th Hokage -who has since retired- and myself."

"I suggest you keep this info to yourself, lest you meet the same fate." With that, the clone dissipated into a grey cloud, and scattered into the wind.

Forest of Death
Konohagakure, Land of Fire

Shaoyun was baffled by the answer. He did expect that it would be a hell of a conspiracy, but to actually involve people on the highest in the chain of command... He was dumbstruck by that. Before he could reply to, "Revan" disappeared when he was about to say a piece of his mind about "Revan" 's last remark. Seeing that it disappeared, one of his suspicions were answered. It was a clone. But the information from that clone was enough to even cause chaos within the village. "Tch... This changes things...." he said as he began to backtrack to the source of explosion earlier. If his hunch was correct, it should be where Revan be, battling other shinobis.

Questions began popping up in his head:
Why did the Hokage chose to cover up the entire situation?
Why did the Hokage even condemned Revan without even bothering to listen to his side of the story?
How the hell the teacher even got off suspicions?

One thing was certain. Revan was almost certainly innocent, and he would require testaments from the people who are still alive that knew of the situation. His options were the members of the T&I that investigated the matter (and still alive), and the 10th Hokage. He then opened an encrypted channel. "Log on Uzumaki Revan's investigation. Target has given vital information. Will prepare to investigate matter further, For the moment, will apprehend target alive by any means necessary, Kurogami, out." he said as he closed the channel after logging his message & continued travelling through the forest, going to the explosion source he heard back then. He would try to capture Revan, hoping that he could at least keep him from getting killed by other shinobis.

Reiko Yoshinaga
Countryside, The Land of Waterfalls

“We’re close,” Haru said, looking over at Reiko. The group had been on alert for days now, having left the Rain Village nearly a week ago. As the sensory type on the team, Haru had been particularly worn down. The group had been chasing down Itari Nanasu, a rogue ninja wondering Waterfall Country. He had originally come from the Village hidden in the mist, but after a failed attempt at a coup, Itari fled. Reiko had been keeping an eye on his whereabouts for some time, and she figured it would be best to find Itari before Kazuo became the leader of Amegakure.

Of course, she wasn’t after Itari, but rather what he was carrying. Itari happened to be one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist; he used the Hiramekarei. The sword would be valuable to Reiko, although she did not plan on using it herself. Rather, it could be a valuable bargaining chip with Kazuo, and it served her team’s greater purpose.

Haru suddenly came to a halt, motioning for the rest of the team to do the same. Reiko, Obiro, and Tanoro came to a quick stop, each landing on a separate tree branch. Reiko shot Haru a look.

“We’re within 100 yards,” Haru responded to her gaze. “We need to put the plan in motion.”

“Agreed,” Reiko responded. “Get into formation L.” Haru nodded, and he and Obiro rushed to the side, dodging and darting through the brush. Reiko and her team had already worked out a plan to beat Itari, and they had practiced it several times back home. It wasn’t exactly, the same, but it would have to do. Reiko and Tanoro dropped from the trees, landing on the ground, and looking around. Itari couldn’t be far away.

They waited for a few momments before a man appeared walking towards them down the path. He wore a black cloak, with a hood. Reiko couldn’t see much of the man, but she knew it was Itari by the huge sword fastened to his back. The Hiramekarei was giant, possibly the largest of all the Seven Ninja Swords. The blade was covered in bandages, as if it could be hidden so easily.

“Lord Itari,” Reiko shouted towards the cloaked man. “We’ve been waiting for you.” The man stopped in his tracks.

“Always… always people waiting for me, wherever I go.” As he said these words, Itari lowered his hood, revealing his pointed blue hair, red eyes, and shark-like teeth. “I don’t want to kill you, so I’m asking you to reconsider.” Itari did more than sigh; he appeared to genuinely want to avoid this battle. This took Reiko by surprise; she had always assumed that the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist were all bloodthirsty killers, but this man appeared to be less-than-enthused about their impending battle. Maybe he was feigning his regret. Or maybe, she had miscalculated.

Either way, it wasn’t going to stop her from killing this man and taking his weapon. She reached to her side, pulling out two kunai. She had premade these kunai from some of the tar that remained in the gourd on her back; at a range, they were indistinguishable from normal kunai. She released them with both her hands, sending them barreling down towards Itari. At the same time, Tanoro drew his blade and rushed the enemy.

Itari was fast, and he dodged the kunai, allowing them to fly past him harmlessly and land several yards behind him. He grabbed the Hiramekarei from his back and struck forwards, catching the steel of Tanoro’s blade, locking them together. Reiko preformed several hand seals, before reaching out her arm. The tar forming the kunai returned to a fluid state, and began to crawl like worms across the ground, heading for Itari. The Swordsman noticed this, and moved into further action. He pushed Tanoro’s strike away before unleashing an attack of his own. With both hands on his sword’s double-handle, he raised the Hiramekarei over his head before bringing it down with great force. As he did this, the bandages became loosened, falling from the sword and reveling a hammer-head, made of chackra, molded onto the tip of the sword’s blade. Tanoro raised his own sword to block the attack, but it was too strong. The metal of his sword snapped beneath the weight of Itari’s attack, and the hammer smashed Tanoro into the ground, making a crunch sound and leaving a cracked hole in the floor of the forest, Tanoro’s mangled body inside.

With that completed, Itari spun around, swinging his sword multiple times, cutting Reiko’s tar to pieces. With the hammer-head dispelled, the Hiramekarei returned to its normal state, and Itari turned to face Reiko.

“Now it’s your turn!” He said as he rushed towards Reiko, still holding his sword with both hands. He ran quickly, and Reiko moved as quickly as she could, finishing her hand seals and moving her tar from the gourd on her back to form a shield to protect her. It didn’t appear to be fast enough, as Itari was only a yard or two away. She used less tar, making the shield thin, but fast enough to block her enemy’s path. Itari took a large swing, dispatching of the shield in one blow before raising his sword to attack Reiko.

He paused before he could finish the attack, and Reiko could see the metal point of an arrow extend from Itari’s torso. She breathed a sigh of relieve as black marks covered Itari’s body, and it became rigid, stuck in the same position, with the Hiramekarei extended above his head. Reiko leaned around Itari to shout to her comrades.

“Thanks Haru! Let’s get this sword and hear home!” Haru and Obiro emerged from the brush behind Itari, walking towards Reiko.

“What about Tan?” Haru asked, looking at Tanoro’s body in the indent in the ground. “It looks like he was hit pretty seriously.”

“Yea he took a good one,” Reiko responded. “Obiro, can you check him out?” Obiro wasn’t exactly a medical ninja, but he was quite analytical, and did have some experience with medical ninjutsu, having been one of Lord Hitori’s test subjects many years ago.

“Broken right ankle, right forearm, and it looks like potentially a few ribs, but his vitals are fine,” Obiro said, leaving out any sort of feelings for his falled teammate.

“Right, we should get him back to the village as quickly as possible,” Haru concluded. Reiko furrowed her brow. Haru always worried about things. It didn’t bother her necessarily, but it certainly wasn’t relaxing.

“Very well. I’m sure he could be healed by my grandfather. Besides, we have what we came for.”

Revan was bored, that was no surprise however, he and his team had been waiting at this section of border for the past three days. Besides, it was with a country that had little military force to speak of. Due to his Dojutsu he was given his own section of forest to watch, as well as a flare gun in case anything actually happened. Revan quickly remembered something and his mood quickly improved, there had been multiple rumors and even a vague confirmation from Ojiisan that Revan was due for a promotion soon. His mood quickly tanked when he realized that was almost two weeks away at this point.

Revan let out a groan as he noticed Yoshi heading towards him, he was his best friend, but Gods above he was just too damn chipper sometime. Like now.

Of course, Yoshi was never one to be subtle, "Hey Revan! Kurou-Sensei wants you back at the camp!"

The five and a half foot tall teen stood and headed on over to his friend, "Keep it down, did he say why?"

Yoshi shook his head, "No. He just told me to get you and then head back."

Revan shrugged and started heading back towards camp... only to smack his head dead on with a tree branch. Revan sighed as Yoshi chuckled, it was times like this he wished he was shorter, his odd height and the fact that he wore a mask most of the time made most experienced ninja call him Scarecrow 2.0... Whatever that meant.

Revan disabled his dojutsu to conserve chakra and started back to camp. As the duo arrived, the noticed the camp was barren.

Yoshi frowned, "That's weird, Sayako and Kurou were just here..."

Revan's focus was elsewhere, specifically the tree in which his only friend from the Uchiha clan was impaled. "Sayako!" The fourteen year old leaped across the campsite as did Yoshi.

The Yamanaka immediately took up a defensive stance as Revan checked his friend. He immediately recognized the staff impaling Sayako to be his sensei's, and that it was right through where someone's heart would be. Her arm was also at an odd angle, and her eyes were missing...

Revan turned as the veins around his eyes bulged, his next address would be to Yoshi. Though to his terror his only other friend was now bleeding from the head, and unconscious at the feet of Kurou.

"Kurou, what the FUCK is this!? What are you doing?!"

Kurou let out a ragged breath, "Revan... I'm so sorry I have to do this... Please forgive me."

Kurou didn't get a chance to fight back, a single slash had turned his chest into a weeping gorge down to the ribs and sternum, it wasn't from Revan, it was from a rather large squirrel species native to the area. Said rodent quickly collapsed and Revan went in for the kill. Kurou was unfortunately quicker at the time, he was in no condition to fight a prodigy like Revan, so he grabbed Yoshi and ran.

Revan was to pursue, but the support that Kurou had hired from The Reborn had given him pause.

17...

Emphasis on pause, the last thing six out of the seventeen mercenaries heard was a whisper on the wind. It said War Scars and they were momentarily given the excruciating pain of being reduced to chum. The random angles and velocities in which the wind chakra blades carved through them created almost a rain of blood and bodily fluids.

11...

A duo continued their charge as their fellows gave pause, Revan pulled his signature sword from it's seal on his belt and swung the oversized blade in a massive arc, cleaving one in half and removing one's legs as he attempted to jump out of the way.

9...

A samurai from behind, this one a bit hesitant, his loss. Revan repositioned for an overhead strike, but something was holding the blade down. One of the hostiles had grabbed onto it from a subterranean jutsu. Revan overpowered him with a quick application of Vacuum Blade, managing to pull the Earth wielder out of the ground in the process. Revan caught the charging swordsman in the nick of time, bisecting the man down to the center of his chest. His sword however had managed to get stuck in the myriad of vertebrae, skull fragments, and the rib cage, so bringing it back around against the disoriented mole man wasn't an option.

Revan turned as his hand lit up like a second sun. A flash and an blood curdling scream that only lasted an instant reduced the mole man's upper body to vapor and carbon.

7...

They changed things up a bit, four were charging while the other three stayed in the trees and started casting a fuckload of Fire and Water release techniques.

Revan's muscles coiled to their utmost extreme as chakra poured into his blade. Finally it all released with a snap not unlike that of a whip. A ripple of barely noticeable chakra enhanced wind ripped through the surroundings, effortlessly cutting through trees, flesh and nylon rope and cloth alike.

Revan was barely able to avoid getting drowned by a water jutsu, or incinerated by a wall of fire. He was getting tired, and the subsequent steam wasn't helping his breathing at all.

3...

Revan's chakra was roughly half of what was normal, nevertheless he retrieved his sword and took the appropriate stance. Casting his gaze around he spotted no one else. The final trio had run off. Revan chased after his sensei, or at least the direction he was seen heading last by the fourteen year old.

0...

Revan awoke at the rapid reintegration of clone memories. He sighed, he guessed that the clone telling the Konoha nin of a little taste of the truth is what triggered most of that nights events to play back for him. Revan suppressed tears, the last words he'd said to Yoshi weren't in the humorous tone they usually had with each other. And he hadn't spoken with Sayako that morning as she had woken up late. He hadn't spoken to anyone he knew in a little over a decade, and he was nearly at his wit's end.

"Haruka, Shinko, go help the rest!" Midorimaru barked, a break from its intimidation of the terrified rogue ninja. Haruka was shaken from his status as a bystander as it became clear what was happening.
"Right!" Haruka answered, before rushing toward where Midorimaru had come-from. Haruka hoped that Shinko followed, wondering just what scale this problem had. As he moved, he started to hear a growing shout.
"Eight palms! Sixteen palms! Thirty-two palms!" Shinobu was shouting, when Haruka came into view, he saw Shinko looking over another rogue ninja. "I should have stopped at twenty-eight palms!" Meanwhile, Ashi had his cane pressed into another collapsed enemy. Something about the scene felt-odd, probably due to the age differences between the genin and the rogue ninja. When another dropped-onto a root carried by a painted tiger.
"We have this taken care-of, no thanks to you," Inoko said, joining the collection on the branch, not even caring to look at the other members of the task force. "They fear me We had to chase the cowards down."
"Your self-aggrandizement notwithstanding, they sure were quick to retreat when faced with even numbers," Ashi said.
"They probably just wanted a clean ambush and were not expecting even numbers," Shinobu wondered aloud. Haruka could not let their post-victory analysis continue unabated as Midorimaru returned with the Okazaki impersonator.
"I have come to inform you that Revan Uzumaki is back," Haruka explained as the blustery snowfall came closer and dominated the area for the moment after it. "As it is befitting, I and the other task force members are to watch over your activities and provide protection in the event that Revan or these other rogue ninja seek to disturb you further until we receive orders," Haruka explained. In a flash, Inoko ran.
"Inoko!" Midorimaru barked.
"I and Midorimaru will try to get Inoko back to her senses!" Ashi commanded as he and Midorimaru made haste after Inoko. In the silent moment following, Haruka looked down.
"No," Haruka said rhetorically in a defeated tone.
"Haruka, there was no way you could have known that she was going to act in such an extreme manner," Shinobu comforted Haruka.
"There's no time for a pity-party. We have pressing matters to attend-to. Namely, there is the matter of the impersonators." Guinefort explained, sitting-on the pile of defeated rogue ninja. "Lady Okazaki, is there anybody named 'Shirogane' in your esteemed clan?"

The Steel Maiden of the Rock
Okazaki Shinko

Shinko was shocked as Shirogane came into view, and suddenly tried to assault them, only to be cut off and revealed to be an imposter, and a clone at that. Her worry grew further for the boy, and as she was about to follow Haruka, she was suddenly assaulted by yet another rogue, but this time she was ready. A medium sized scroll rolled off her hand, and exploded in a rather large puff of smoke, only clearing after Shinko had charged and sliced through with a katana in her hand, catching the rivaling shinobi off guard. But it didn't last for long, and as she delivered her first strike, it was parried with a well placed kunai.

"That all?" the shinobi chuckled, but in fact it wasn't the end of her abilities. Back flipping using the momentum gained from the blocked hit, Shinko released two more scrolls, both fluttering open smoothly. Steel chains shot out like tendrils, quickly wrapping around the rogue, and ending with a large spiked ball each that clunked onto the ground. Skidding to a halt, the kunoichi impaled her sword into the ground and made two hand signs.

"Kouton, seirenjo!" she chanted, and as soon as she had finished, ten swords, similar to the one before her, had sprouted out, sharp-ends first, underneath the trapped ninja. Judging by the shouts of agony coming from within the chains, she had to guess that he was finished, and continued on wards to regroup with Haruka once more. Finding him after a few seconds, she looked at the others who had gathered, apparently having been here for quite awhile judging by the large pile of defeated shinobi someone was sitting on. Said person also asked her a question.

"Yes, there is," she said, a look of worry upon her face once more, "He's my cousin... And student."

"Well, then it looks as though this raises some questions," Guinefort said as his tail started wagging. "Which one of you posers wants to be volunteered? I think that I can smooth-talk T&I out of the first letter, while I think that one of the Okazaki's finest will probably make them cut-out the latter letter. if anybody wants to consider volunteering the information that we want, it would be a good move that will probably save your buddies an ear or two to start explained to Lady Okazaki how you came across this scroll?" the little dog growled, all bark and no bite in his attempts to intimidate them. One seemed to lack any particular reticence.

"Inoko, stop running! There are better ways to deal with Revan than this!" Ashi barked to no response from the pursued.
"Running away from the pack is not a bright idea!" Midorimaru shouted, getting closer and closer to Inoko, the canid catching-up rather quickly only for the dog to dodge a trip wire that Ashi similarly avoided. "Great trap placement, Ashi," Midorimaru said in a complimentary manner.
"That was not ours!" Ashi said when a horrid sound came-by. The whirring and buzzing were not a good sound, and when a black fog engulfed the area as Inoko got away, the fog made alternately of smoke or beetles.
"Hello," a distorted, breathy voice said as some of the beetles approached and took the form of an individual cloaked in shadow, one that lacked any identifiers o. "I know that these aren't the best circumstances in which to have conversation, but it will have to do."

"Thank you for your cooperation," Guinefort said. The tallest of the quad had spewed-forth so much information that Guinefort could not help but smile.
"Shinko, I am sorry that you got dragged into this," Haruka apologized, bowing to Shinko momentarily.
"I guess our little group now has an informal A-ranked mission; rescue any genin held hostage by these cowards. I know that you are under no obligation to join our 'task force' or whatever this is called, but, if I were in your shoes, I would not overlook any opportunity to save lives, family and allies in particular, but I also would not forgo an opportunity to have something to lord-over my cousins," Shinobu explained cheekily, holding-out a hand to Shinko. "Want to join our mission?"

Those who were near rivers were able to see something big approaching. It slowly became apparent that the Chunin Exams' plans were continuing unabated as a dust-storm built until it reached the clouds, then crept into the Forest of Death. The ice-over the frozen rivers melted as a wave of hot, dry air blasted through the area as the area surrounding the rivers took on conditions more familiar to a savannah and the areas further away from the rivers had leaves all simultaneously fall-off the massive trees and soil was replaced by sand as the area was blanketed with the storm. The lower visibility helped many disreputable elements now move much better through the forest. The rogue ninja took the opportunity to be more brazen than usual as they became more reckless.

"Revan Uzumaki," an older voice said, baritone and hiding it little in a tone bereft of confrontation. The source was an middle-aged Yamanaka with a buzz-cut and the symbol emblazoned on the back of the jacket that covered his vest, lacking the uniform of a proctor and the crossed-out headband. "I think that it is time that you and I talk."

Running through the forests at high speed, Haruka was a blur. Even in the terribly blinded conditions, Haruka was making progress throughout the forest, though with little progress toward his goal of looking for anybody able to help. He had no luck with finding the exam proctors. Noticing three people he remembered seeing at the gates, Kurou, Maris, and Zankuro, he rushed to them.
"We found a large concentration of rogue ninja, and they have hostages!" Haruka hurriedly explained, red from all of the running that he had made.

And seeing as how you only wish to talk, you either aren't here to speak about that, or you don't believe I was the one to kill him." Revan turned fully to the Yamanaka, "I'm listening."

"All of your fights end without a single corpse, victories without bodies," the Yamanaka complimented, standing in the open. His jacket hid not the grey vest of an ANBU. "I am Inorō Yamanka. There is impending crisis, and there is something I want from you. You would be happy if this crisis gave you the opportunity to bring a measure of justice. My daughter has never really coped-with Yoshi's death, and I have sought to bring the Yamanaka-killer to justice. Unfortunately, I am a man of many obligations, too many to handle on my own, and you are an enemy of the civilized world. What I propose is quid-pro-quo toward our united goal in this unstable time. Your obligation will be fight at my beck and call until the end of the crisis, avoid casualties of the next generation, and bring the traitor to justice. My obligation will be to provide you will receive the support of the Reborn. We will not be the only benefactors of the deal, as we will assure the welfare of Kei and Shinobu. The crisis will come and go, and, however it ends for me and the rest of the Reborn, I want to bring the Yamanaka and Uchiha some measure of closure."

"All of your fights end without a single corpse, victories without bodies," the Yamanaka said, standing in the open with arms at his side. He quickly determined that he was to be direct. "I am Inorō Yamanka. There is impending crisis, and there is something I want from you and something you want from me. You and would be happy if this crisis gave you the opportunity to bring a measure of justice. Revan stood, his pasty white eyes boring a hole into Inorō's, it was seconds before he replied, "When were you planning on actually bringing closure to both clans? Because for the Uchiha you're about ten years late. Sayako's body has been missing since I was exiled, and no one knows where her body is. I'm afraid the only closure to be given is to your own family."

Revan turned his head away, towards the center of the forest, "But, If I am to understand your words correctly, you wish for me to be your outside agent. One where you can avoid any blame for the deaths of a select few who oppose you, correct?"

"Whenever ANBU Black Ops reopened investigations, evidence and records would be 'misplaced'. It has happened enough times that it has reached the point that it is, 'improbable', to put it lightly as are close-accidents. It took years, but I can no longer trust the ANBU Black Ops to handle this matter anymore. If there is any hope for the body, it lies with the responsible, and I get a sneaking suspicion that 'the responsible' refers to more than one." Inorō explained. "I regret not realizing the problem earlier."

"I would rather you not kill anybody, but I cannot impose upon you that obligation outside of younger shinobi. If you were to agree to it, I would have you agree to no killing," Inorō said sternly, rather unhappy with the insinuation of Revan's. With a sigh, he continued. "In one month's time, using the term 'blameless' will be inappropriate. My role places limits on what I can do, and it places a dilemma before me to pursue one justice or another personally. However, I do not need catharsis to pursue justice. You and I share the same goal and just lack the opportunity. Luckily for us, that opportunity is approaching; tell me before the chunin exams if you want to take it," Inorō explained, putting on his ANBU mask and running-away.

Kazuo Namura
Many Years Ago
Amegakure, The Land of Rain

A young boy, known as Kazuo, walked the streets of a small village, far away from the large buildings of Amegakure. He stumbled around, as a four-year-old with trouble seeing, he couldn’t do much at all. He barely survived on the generosity of strangers. The dirt ground was rough on his unprotected feet, and the child suffered from various cuts and blisters. He had no memory of his parents, no memory of anything else besides the blurry streets of the small village. He was wary not to get lost and wander outside the village where strangers couldn’t feed him, and where he would be without help. He was on his way across the center of the village one day when a man stopped him.

“Hello there, young man. Where is your family?” The man bent over, looking young Kazuo in the face. It was the first time he had ever met Hitori. The man looked extremely friendly, and Kazuo felt warmth just looking at him.

“Kazuo Namura, please come forward!” The young boy had a large grin covering his face. He had been selected! He had worked for years to be good enough to become a ninja, and he had been selected to begin medical trials with Lord Hitori Yoshinaga, the grand sage of the village! A crowd of some fifty parents and their children clapped as Kazuo walked onto the stage to collect his letter. The 8-year-old boy’s cheeks hurt as he grabbed the papers from the shinobi’s hands, his smile irrevocable. It appeared that even the weather stopped for him, as the rain had subsided leaving only clouds blocking the sun in their place. The edge of the village was a nice area to have the convocation, as it was significantly less industrial than the rest of the village; grass even covered the ground. It was the best day!

The next week, Kazuo heard a knock on his door. As an orphan, Kazuo had no family to speak of, but he was given a place to live by Lord Hitori when he moved to the village. As a Genin, Kazuo had a small stipend, and was able to feed himself, which was a nice change of pace; he had never had that ability before. He stood, and opened the door. Another young man, a ninja from the looks of his headband. He had short black hair, and a pale face. The man couldn’t have been more than 25 years old. Kazuo titled his head.

“Who are you?” The man shot him a look and smiled.

“It’s time to go to Lord Hitori’s compound. He sent me to come get you!” The man looked familiar, and Kazuo knew he had seen his smile before. It gave him the same warm feeling that Hitori had years ago. “I’m Ichiko Yoshinaga, son of Lord Hitori. You ready to go?” Kazuo’s questioning face changed to a smiling one.

“Sure thing!” the boy said, grabbing his bag. “Let’s go, Ichiko!”

“So, here’s the procedure,” Lord Hitori began. He was speaking to Ichiko and Kazuo, who were sitting side by side in several chairs in Hitori’s compound. “I am going to be injecting you with a high amount of treated chakra first, and I’ll be putting it into your bones to both strengthen, and mold them into a more workable shape. Then, we’ll begin working on your skin…”

Kazuo wasn’t listening. The whole idea of surgery was worrying him. He was nervously kicking his legs back and forth, looking at the ground. He stopped and looked up when he felt a nudge on his shoulder. It was Ichiko.

“Don’t worry about it, kiddo. We’re both gunna be fine. It’s an easy procedure, and I’ll be with you the entire time.” Kazuo sighed in relief and smiled. Something about Ichiko made Kazuo feel safe; with him at his side, he believed he could do anything. The young boy leaned up against his friend, and closed his eyes.

Kazuo Namura
Present Day
Amegakure, The Land of Rain

Kazuo grasped his head. He had a wicked headache. He had had problems with headaches ever since the procedure; they were the only sort of injury he seemed to be effected by. He took a deep breath and the pounding slowly faded away. He wasn’t supposed to be able to get sick; but then again, his procedure had been known to have some nasty side-effects.

Kazuo stood up from his desk. It was the last day he’d spend there; he was going to move into Lord Hirito’s old quarters. The funeral for their former leader was well carried out, Kazuo thought, but there were some important absences, most notable Hitori’s granddaughter, Reiko was nowhere to be found. Kazuo had sent the ANBU out after them, to no avail. Reiko and her group truly were very talented.

“Lord Kazuo?” Kazuo’s door opened very slightly, and through the cracked door he could see an ANBU mask in the shape of a cat. “Reiko Yoshinaga is two klicks out from the village.”

“Thank you,” Kazuo nodded to the ninja who promptly disappeared. He left his desk, and headed out the door. He quickly moved to the bottom of his building, and out into the rain. Reiko and her team would be arriving soon. Kazuo quickly made his way to the edge of the village, where Otero, the leader of the Amegakure ANBU, waited with his team.

“Well,” Kazuo said as he approached his old friend. “I guess this is where we’ll take Reiko in. You may want to send your teammates away for this.”

“Don’t worry about them,” Otero responded calmly, his mask covering the top of his head, protecting him from the pouring rain. “They can handle themselves.” Kazuo nodded, and turned back to looking out over the rain covered forest. Reiko could be extremely dangerous; he still did not know why she had left in the first place. The fact that she was returning likely meant a confrontation.

As Kazuo surveyed the land, he remembered back before his surgery; he and Ichiko Yoshinaga, Hitori’s son and Reiko’s father, had walking this route to Hitori’s compound outside the village. Ichiko always seemed to have a positive outlook on everything; he had an aura about him that radiated positive thoughts. Kazuo, the young and nerve-wrecked child that he was, was even calm in his presence.

“Alright,” Otero said, pulling Kazuo out of his thoughts. “Here they come.” As he finished speaking, several figures appeared from among the trees. Kazuo saw Otero reach for a kunai, but he stopped short. Kazuo pulled in a sharp breath as well when he saw one of the figures carrying another. He rushed forwards.

“What happened?” Kazuo began as he approached Obiro, carrying the severely injured Tanoro. Beside Obiro ran Reiko and Haru, close together.

“We were attacked!” Reiko said. “He needs medical help!” Kazuo nodded, and took the unconscious Tanoro from Obiro’s hands. He quickly took off towards the hospital with the fallen ninja in his arms.
