I'm not entirely sure.

"Indeed! That's the spirit, Kasumi-chan. Learning is something a student should enjoy, hence why I have my classes outside of a classroom! Because people don't always like to be in a classroom..." They then looked at Ozzi and chuckled, seeing them dance with the flowers. "I see someone else is also happy to be here."
Question. Why is he happy?

Secondary question. What knowledge does he gain from... dancing?

Observation. There is no valuable knowledge to be gained.

Preliminary conclusion. He is not happy because he is gaining knowledge.

Primary question. Why is he happy?

Observation. The reason for his happiness is unknown.

Conclusion. Further study must be applied to fully understand this phenomenon.

Ozzi frowns and grounds to a halt as the flowers and tree stop dancing along with him. Unfortunately, he is forced to stop just as he is beginning to really get into the dancing. The speed with which he has to cease his movement overpowers Ozzi's balance and grace, and he ends up tripping on his own feet and flopping to the ground.

Ozzi lies there on his back for a moment to catch his breath, and then he hops to his feet and grins at Soleil. "Dat tree ought to be de Professor in grooviness." Ozzi's grin widens a bit, for he appreciates the awkwardness/corniness of his own humor.

"Then I trust you can handle yourself accordingly. Honorless, chaotic conflict is something I cannot bear to see..." Ruta lamented, listening closely to the girl's words. If nothing else than she would prove to be a decent sparring partner for a fellow student. She did look rather hurt by the comment, something he lamented as well. Despite his unforgiving nature, he hated to see the girl looking so down. He had felt the same thing, hadn't he? Over and over and over again, that rejection, and even his expulsion from the home and hearth. This girl, Hikari, he couldn't help but feel she went through that same struggle.

Ruta, at this point was tired of waiting for his class to begin. The few minutes had passed, and by noe the room was fairly populated by students, even if it wasn't as many as he would have liked to see. There was an upside to that, though. It would be easier to get the students' attention.

Snapping his fingers, Ruta sent a bolt of blue lightning straight into the air above the students, where it exploded just before impact with the ceiling. A large crack could be heard, as if what he'd just used was part of an actual thunderstorm. Once the majority of the class had turned it's heads to him, Ruta put on a warm smile, amd announced in a deep, booming voice, "Ladies, gentleman, and others, I welcome you to Magical Combat! I am Professor Ruta, or as some of you have taken to calling me, Mr. Ruta. In this class, you will be taught the essentials of dueling, Mana channeling, and how to effectively defend yourself against magical foes." Ruta explained. He really hated this part of the job, but in reality it was probably going to be the easiest. When the actual lesson started to kick in, that would be the thing to leave him a little less than enthused and energetic. "Here, you will not be simply reading for an hour in the textbooks you'll be provided, but learning and understanding the art of Combat in a hands on experience. To this end, we will start our first day here by following that principal. Today, unlike Day One of last year's Magical Combat class, you will not be thrust into the manipulation of magical properties, and nor will we be teaching the bare basics as Professor Faelbrook did for so many days. For you upperclassmen, I'm sure you will be pleased to hear this. Our first unit for the year will be in dueling." Antonius finished, waiting for a response from any of the students that now sat in his classroom. "Now, are there any questions that anyone wishes to ask, before I continue on?"

Maria Hirsch

Marie's hand immediately shot up for a question that had been buying in her mind.

"Will the dueling purely be spelled based, or will we apply physical elements and actual weapons/fighting skill along with our abilities?" Marie was nervous about if the answer was the first one. Her magic was only tuned to being an accessory to enhancing weapons... her weakness was using her pure Ignis magic. She could probably make a small fire, but without any refined metallic surface that was pretty much all she could do.

Antonius Ruta

Ruta was pleased to actually hear the ginger girl ask the question. It gave him the impression that she was actually listening, and it could give him a chance to elaborate a bit and do his job. "I would like for the dueling to be primarily based in the use of spells, but if your magic is not sophisticated enough, or if your abilities do not allow you to perform ordinary magic, I will permit you to use physical weapons." Ruta replied, being as calm as he could in his explanation. It was definitely a more odd question, but it was a question that he needed to answer nonetheless. "Now, if there are no further questions, I will begin reading off the pairs for today's activities."

For once Soleil actually laughed. Ozzi was so carefree and happy, he didn't care what people thought of him. It was actually quite pleasant to see someone like that. Someone just...enjoying themselves. Even if it was with doing something that was as goofy as dancing with flowers.

Rabbit, of course, found all of it pleasant, and laughed softly. They then turned to Kasumi, who looked perplexed. "Is everything alright, dear?" they asked, kindly. "Perhaps I should start the class, and then we can begin to understand some things." They walked over next to the tree, and looked toward their classmates.

"So, then, this class is the Basics of Magic, as you have been told. Considering I didn't advertise, as my fellow teachers did, I should explain maybe what this is about. Now, before I begin, how many of you do know what mana is? I know that not all of you are very experienced, which is why I have this class."

Catherine de Sanguine Vivere

Catherine was slightly worry about dueling other students. Being perfectly honest her skills did not become honorable one on one combat. As well, they kind of had two modes, useless and lethal. Though she could make blood contact and then try to dose some one with sedatives, that could be deadly on it's own. You do not want your anesthesiologist trying to do precision mana control, and fight you, well trying to knock you out. Well, I guess I'll just have to hope who ever I'm up against is either weak enough that it's no contest, or strong enough not to die. She did have one new trick up her sleeve though. Catherine pawed through her bag for a second with out looking, until her fingers glanced across the wooden surface engraved with hundreds of tiny runes. Quickly she made sure all five were there. These should make for a nice surprise. Catherine had only been able to practice the technique involving the objects a few times during the summer, but she felt it would be valuable enough to use here.

Elizabeth Tsukuyomi

Liz had just gotten notice from the administration that she would be taking over for Victor's magical creatures class. By that time it was already almost 10:25. Liz plane stepped inside the class and sat down at Victor's desk. Just great, I finally finish my lesson plan for magical theory and now I have to come up with one for this on the spot. Liz much preferred to take her time, on almost everything. Hell, she had spent the better part of eight years setting up the ritual for her planar genesis. Oh, there was an idea, Liz had created copies of many of the mythic beast she had slain. Taking the students there could act as a good snap lesson. With the lesson now planned Liz opened the classroom door, at exactly 10:30. With a smile she greeted the students, hoping the seem warm and inviting, to give them a comfortable environment for learning. Unfortunately, she had forgotten that she was still wearing the gaudly and ornate High Templar armor of the Inquisition.
"Hello everyone, I'm Elizabeth Tsukuyomi. I'm taking over for Mr. Kowalski for... Well at least for today."

Outdoor classes? Now Aidan knew, he was right in Professor Rabbit's course!

As he walked outside, he saw some crackling lightning through one of the windows. Magic combat. He still was not willing to take this course in his time here but it worried him to no end, that most other students did or plan to do. "If this school had any governmental oversight, it'd be closed down for teaching minors in deadly combat in no time. It's like handing out guns on a schoolyard. But hey, a Columbine massacre every now and then keeps the kids sharp, doesn't it. Natural selection and shit," he said, more to himself then to anyone in particular. He then hurried to the Professor, as they was starting with the lesson.

Luminesa wrote:"So, then, this class is the Basics of Magic, as you have been told. Considering I didn't advertise, as my fellow teachers did, I should explain maybe what this is about. Concerning the question Aidan nodded, signaling that he had some idea, even if his entire knowledge on the topic could easily fit into a 5 minute talk including a 2.5 minutes Q&A, so he would probably still be able to learn about as much on the topic as everybody else.

Ozzi grins at Soleil and struts over to him proudly. He opens his mouth to say something, but whatever he is about to say is cut off by Mr. Rabbit, who has returned to their point of the yard and is talking to them.

Ozzi snaps to attention, which is probably unnecessary. But he feels the need to do so, so he does so. When Mr. Rabbit asks his question, Ozzi's hand shoots into the air so hard that he feels a bit of pain in his shoulder and his head.

Sol stared at Ozzi, a little concerned now for his over-enthusiasm. He didn't want him to hurt himself. Nevertheless, he nodded to the teacher, signaling that he knew what mana was.

"Good!" Rabbit answered. They held their hand out, then, and showed the trio a clear ball of energy in their hand. "Mana. The substance that is the basis of all magic. As wizards, you are naturally able to draw this magical substance from yourselves, as a means of attack and defense. Most specifically, you are able to summon it in the form of one of four elements-fire, earth, wind, and water." They turned the orb of mana into an orb of water, and then held it there. "And of course, there are ways to crossover the elements, and to create new ones, but that's a more complex subject for another day. Let's stick to the basics, for now, shall we?"

They then turned the orb of water into a small spiral in their hand, which turned and turned upward until it all evaporated. Rabbit then stood as they normally did, with their hands behind their back.

"However, the question here is, 'How do we exactly control our mana, and how do we change into those different elements?'...Actually, that's two questions rolled into one...But anyway! These are the core questions of this course, and answering them will be the first step towards the group of you becoming skilled and well-grounded magicians. Now, for the more practical part of our lesson. Of course, to begin to control magic, you have to be able to master control over your mana," Rabbit continued. They then cocked their head to the side, as they asked a question. "Now, then, do you all know about the mana points in the body?"

Soleil looked over to Ozzi, a little uncertain. He wanted to see how he would answer, first.

Rabbit was aware of this, and they reminded the group, "Be honest about your answers, now. I cannot teach you, if I am not aware of what you know and don't know!" Of course, their tone was always genial and encouraging.

Ozzi considers the question for a momen. He puts his hand on his chin and glances over at Soleil, who he notices is looking to him, probably waiting for his reaction. Now that he sees someone is watching him, Ozzi feels the need to do a bit more than just say no. So he raises his hand again.

"Are dey de parts in your body dat generate de most mana, sor? I tink dat my brother once told me dat if you channel your mana to de mana points den dese points become stronger dan steel." Ozzi lowers his hand and furrows his brow, trying to remember what else his brother told him in that particular memory.

Rabbit had been aware something was strange about the boy. He couldn't possibly be so rudimentally skilled with water, not if he knew how to make ice with it. Besides, there was something about him...an air of dark secrecy that surrounded him, an air of wanting to defend oneself from the world. Lance had been through much. And Rabbit would be sure to keep an eye on him.

"Hm.." Ozzi doesn't know this one, but he feels compelled to answer anyway. He starts mulling over numbers in his head, trying to decide which makes the most sense. Not one, two, or three, because that doesn't seem like enough. Above a dozen seems like a little too much to Ozzi. Nine makes sense, though. There are nine planets. Nine worlds in Norse mythology, if that has any relevance. In fact, there are nine worlds in a bunch of pagan mythologies.

"Is it nine?"

"Eight, actually. So you were close!" Rabbit answered, cheerfully, "There is one in your forehead, one in your heart, one in each shoulder, one in each hand, and one in each leg," they explained, pointing to each spot where a mana point lie. They then stood straight again, when they finished.

"It sounds simple, doesn't it? These are the eight main mana points in the human body. There are also 306 sub-points, one in each bone of the body, but that is more advanced material, and we are only focusing on controlling the main points, right now." They then clapped their hands together once, enthusiastically. "Soooo...let's get started!"

"Get started...with what?" Soleil asked, confused.

"With the practical part of the lesson! I could stand here and talk all day, but you would never learn anything, that way!" Rabbit explained. "Now, then, for your first exercise, find the tallest tree on the campus."

Soleil wasn't sure what that had to do with the lesson, but he turned to his classmates and shrugged. "Well...let's go look, then...I guess..."

Kasumi raised her hand quickly.

"Sensei Usagi," she said gently, "I do not wish to be rude, but there are only 206 bones in the human body... not 306." She bowed quickly, and then darted off to find the tallest tree.

Aidan was not really satisfied with the Professor's explanation. Up until now he had not really done any specific controlling of his arms or legs and his spells had been pretty much in control. Maybe "control" in the sense of the arm chakra had nothing to do with the physical control of the arm muscles but then again, why would one call it the arm chakra - or rather mana point - then? He would definitely have to come back to that but for now he accepted that the semester was long and they were just scratching the surface of this topic.

With a short flight spell Aidan lifted himself into the air. The campus was relatively flat, so the highest tree should be the tallest. This was the obvious answer. As he reached round about eighty feet, he was higher then most trees and only a few were sticking out. He levitated back down to Soleil and Ozzy: "Well, the spruce over there is certainly the highest though I would not expect a bunny-masked professor to look for such and obvious answer, so what do you think is the trick in this question?" He took out his phone and googled "spruce root depth". "Do you thing he wants us to measure ground to top or root to top? What about the wood turned into furnisher inside the house, do they still count as trees? I think they stopped being trees when they were chopped up," he asked the others.

By that time it was already almost 11:55. With the lesson now planned Liz opened the classroom door, at exactly 12:00.

Sophia's eyes widened slightly upon realization of what she was wearing. An Inquisitor High Templar, four stripes and two squares on top with a star. She's a Colonel.
Inquisitors, you could either love them or hate them, and to put it in terms most non-magical students could understand, this was like a fully armored Navy SEAL commander introducing himself as a vet. Wait...did she say, Elizabeth Tsukuyomi? once organizing a paper, some pencils, and a pencil sharpener, she raised her hand to ask the teacher if she was the same Elizabeth Tsukuyomi as the Ritual Magic Theory.

"Uhhhh..." Soleil was rather stumped by Aidan's loaded question. He took a moment to think, before he gave an answer. "I would think ground-to-top...since we can't see the roots...right?" he asked, while also staring at Aidan's phone. Having lived away from people and from society pretty much all his life, he had never seen a cell phone.

"Correct. Ground-to-top. There's no need to check for roots in this exercise," Rabbit answered, as they appeared behind Aidan and looked over their shoulder at the phone. "So that is the tallest tree on the campus. Now, I want you to climb it," they instructed.

Soleil blinked, a bit worried. "Wait...wha?!" The highest tree on the first day? "...But...what does this have to do with the lesson?" he asked.

Rabbit laughed. "Correct. You'll see what this is all for in a few moments," they told them.

Kasumi just shrugged slightly and used her side-control over air to her advantage, propelling herself off the ground and to a branch, using air to 'leap' from branch to branch until she was at the top, peering down.

"Is this satisfactory, Sensei Usagi?"

Rabbit looked up at her and nodded, giving her a thumbs-up. "Good! Now you have to wait for your classmates to reach you!" he called to her.

While Sol was nervous, he had climbed a tree earlier, to hide from Alex. So it wasn't as though he had never climbed a tree before. "Here goes..." he mumbled. He then hopped up the tree, and he thought about how Kasumi had used magic to get to the top of the tree. Thus he tried the same thing. He put his hands on the branch he was standing on, and he sent his magic into it.

He ended-up launching up to the top of the tree, though way too fast.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" he screamed, as he shot to the top. He then grabbed the branch he needed to reach, and he ended-up hanging from it. He then pulled himself up next to Kasumi, and he smiled at her, a bit frazzled. "I...I don't have good control over my powers, yet...I'm sorry..." he said to her.

"Excellent! Now we need for your friends to catch up!" Rabbit said, looking over at Ozzi and Aidan. "It's your turn," they reminded them.
