Soleil eventually got two trays of food for himself and for Shaun, and thus he headed back to his room to bring Shaun his surprise breakfast. The scrambled eggs, sizzling bacon, buttery toast, and warm grits all formed a perfect melody of textures and smells, and he was hoping this might help to wake Shaun up a little. Once he got to the room, he quietly put Shaun's tray on the nightstand next to his bed. He then backed away and went to sit down with his food, when he thought of something else.

Ruta's gloomy expression and cold words came back to him, as he stood with his own tray of food, and immediately he seemed immune to the sunlight. He felt cold and depressed, as he wondered how Ruta felt this morning. Was he still upset with him? Was there any way he could make up for it? After a moment of thinking, he decided he would bring his own tray to Ruta, to surprise him as well.

Leaving the room as quietly as he entered, he walked down the hall and went looking for Ruta's room. He knocked on a few doors as he looked around. "...Professor?" he called quietly, as he waited for Ruta's voice to respond to him. Every now and then he would peek into a room, to check, but seeing nothing, he would leave. Many of his classmates and teachers were already awake and outside of their rooms, yet he could not seem to find Ruta anywhere.

Eventually, however, he found his Professor's room. Knocking on a door near the end of the hall, he called, "...P-Professor Ruta?" once again. When he got no answer, he peeked in, and sure enough, Ruta was there. He was sleeping, tired after another long night. Not wanting to disturb him, he set his tray on his nightstand, and smiled down at his sleeping professor. For once he seemed at peace with himself, and he did not appear as though the word was crushing him inside. Yet as Soleil went to leave the room, he remembered something. The dream he had about the letters came back to him, and he looked around the room. Just as he suspected, in Ruta's suitcase he saw one of the letters. Kneeling down very carefully, he took a look at it, though he did not touch it. He wondered why he had dreamed about it yet again.

Why does it seem that my life is a bunch of puzzle pieces, right now? None of them add up...and I don't know what the final picture will be... he thought.

He then stood, and he looked back at his professor. He had seen the other letters, as he had run errands for Ruta and gone into his office, and he had perused them, distracted by the pretty handwriting and the fact that Ruta, at one time, had indeed loved someone. They gave him a spark of hope, that maybe Ruta still had a soul inside that he could protect and bring back into the light. Yet for now, he had to go before Ruta caught him. Quickly, he left the room as silently as a mouse...though he accidentally closed the door a little loudly behind him.

Catherine de Sanguine Vivere

Catherine smiled widely again, breaking the bar in half with her fingers, before ripping the packaging with her teeth, holding her piece in her mouth and tossing the other one to Aria. Before taking a bite, she moved the half back to her hand. She let out a fake, evil villain laugh, classic to all phony cartoon villains.

"Now you have shown me your true weakness, nothing will stop me!" Catherine laughed again, her own, then plopped down next to Aria, wrapping her long arm around Aria, and resting her head on the smaller girl's shoulder. It did make it a bit awkward to eat her half of the chocolate bar, since she had to reach out in front of Aria to get a bite. "You know, this really is turning out to be a pretty nice trip, hopefully the rest of it stays this good."

Hailey Winters

Hailey held back a gasp, putting her hand over her mouth. "I.. Alright, I'll make sure she gets it. Lots of water to right? I got a concussion once when a stage light fell on me... No bright lights, lots of rest and water, only light physical activy." Hailey spoke quickly, clearly nervous. "Ah, Rabbit, how did it happen? Was there and accident or something? Or did Kate..."
Or did Kate finally start a fight above her wieght? Hailey had been worried that something like this would happen, with how aggressive Kate could be, how willing she was to start a fight, something like this was bound to happen. It was just a matter of time. It almost made Hailey feel useless. She was no good in a real fight, she could barely keep up with Kate when they would practice, and it was obvious just how much Annice would hold back. And now some one had gone and really hurt her little Red, and she couldn't do a thing about it.

Annice Null

Annice woke suddenly with a cold sweat, her blankets tangled around her, a nightmare quickly fading from her mind. Blood covering her gauntlets, her blade wedged deep in a gap in the back of his Armor, the same type she wore. The first strike missed his heart, so she had to struggle a bit with the blade to finally kill him. Twisting and jerking it around inside his chest, unable to make the blade change shape to kill him, the Armor stopping her magic. Cold as ice she called out over the radio as she pulled her blade back out. Then she used it to behead one of the other fresh bodies around them, one with a long knife still clutched in her hand. Annice had killed her a few seconds ago as they were clearing the compound.

"Sergeant, Burrell's down. Some whore got him in the back. His Armor's gone cold, no vitals.

She tried to tell her self it was just a dream, but it was the same one she had over and over, there. It couldn't just be a dream . She knew it was real. She killed one of her brothers, stabbed him in the back. But there was something else to the dream, something much earlier, something she couldn't remember. And one though. They all knew.
The year’s at the spring,
And day’s at the morn;
Morning’s at seven;
The hill-side’s dew-pearled;
The lark’s on the wing;
The snail’s on the thorn;
God’s in His heaven—
All’s right with the world!

Hikari was alone in her room. Kasumi had left to get breakfast a while ago, but Hikari felt too sick to eat anything.

She stared at the body and head of the rag doll Natalie had gotten, lying on the floor after her outburst. She looked at its head, and its shimmering black button eyes seemed to look back at her, the wide smile on its face taunting her, cutting into her soul.

"It looks like you, Mama!"

"You're so beautiful."

"Now Mama can always be with me!"

"Please... stay."

"NO!"

"I HATE YOU!"

"Stupid doll!"

"She's just an emotionless doll!"

"You're a doll, like me. But you're not broken, are you? No... You're not broken like I am... Stupid doll Hikari-chan..."

"I felt everything."

"It wasn't like I couldn't feel. Just because he treated me like a doll didn't mean that I really was one. Not that he'd have noticed the difference if I had been..."

"I am not a doll!"

"I don't want to be replaced."

"I don't want to disappear."

"I don't want to die."

And all the while, the doll just kept smiling at her vacantly, a tiny version of herself with an empty grin plastered across its face.

She felt sick.

Katelyn's eyes flickered open, still slightly unfocused.

"...Oh... Hi, Hailey... I'm sorry... I think I got in a fight again..."

Her face twisted, and her voice sounded very small and plaintive, like a child's.

"...My head hurts a lot," she whispered. "...I'm scared."

Shaun Calhoun

"Yeah, sure...If you say so..." Shaun replied sounding tired. He peeked from under his blanket once he heard the door open and saw that Soleil was leaving. He then began thinking of where he could've gone, only to shrug it off and yawn once more; he knew that he couldn't stay in bed for the whole day sadly. So instead he decided to do it the school way: Get dressed and sleep some more.

He forced himself up from out of the bed, once again falling to the ground. With a displeasing sigh, he raised his hand up and moved around the top surface of his nightstand until he felt for his glasses. Finally finding them, he lazily dropped them on the groud close to him and brought them to his face to put them one. Now looking more like his cute nerdy self, he sighed once more only to hear the door opening. Raising his head up to see the cause of it, was his timid little blonde friend with the cute sweater on. Even looking at the piece of clothing made him shyly smile and cause his cheeks to turn a little red at the site of it. But then he saw what he was carrying- food. Delicious, heavenly fragranced, beautifully displayed pieces of food. Shaun sniffed the air as the smell of eggs, bacon, and toast filled the air around him and as if a switch was turned on, quickly got up and looked at the substance that humans were actually good at doing. Making food....Well most of them.

He turned towards Soleil only to see that he was once again out of the door. He didn't even give him the chance to thank him. Now he was determined to make it up to him for doing such a great thing as giving him food. He even knew that it was food that was the only reason that he gets up in the morning. Shaun then took the tray of food and sat on his bed once more, looking down at the heavenly creation and softly sighing before he dug straight in. He ate it at a much slower pace than he usually would in order to savor the flavor of this divine specimen; the sweet and creaminess of the grits with the savoriness, slight crisps of the bacon and the perfectly seasoned scrambled eggs made him feel like this was the only good thing about mornings. Once he was done, he cleaned up his mess and sighed in relief as he got up from his spot from his bed and stretched a bit now that he had actual energy in his body. Running his hands through his already messy bedhair, Shaun turned towards the bathroom and sighed as he thought of the perfect way to finish off this breakfast. And that was with a nice hot shower. Maybe then could he go back to sleep, making it the perfect trifecta. With a faint smile on his face, the purple-eyed man made his way towards the bathroom and closed the door behind him, preparing for the awesomeness of shower.

Dominique Corleone

Dominique on the other hand was in a more...difficult situation than his white-haired counterpart. He was currently filling the effects of drinking three to four glasses of wine as a teenager. He was now experiencing his first hangover. Last night was also memorable for him, seeing as he spent most of the night in the bathroom vomiting and cursing to the heavens above between sleeps. Coming out of the bathroom with nothing but his underwear on as he was just finishing taking shower, the grumpy Dominique slowly walked into the main sleeping area of the room and collapsed onto his bed. With a groan that sounded like regret, he stayed there for about another ten minutes thinking about his life choices before getting up and grabbing his suitcase. Putting on the basics such as deodorant, lotion, and such he finally grabbed his clothes that he was going to wear for today and slowly and groggily put them on.

Looking into the slightly blurry mirror thanks to his slightly impaired vision to see his outfit, he smiled as he saw just how good-looking that he was in it. Even when feeling like the world is sitting on his head, Dominique still had the confidence and ability to be stylish. Doing his usual routine of putting on more cologne and brushing his teeth and fixing his hair, for which took nearly ten minutes alone, Dom was now ready to go out and face the world. Taking his phone and such, he looked into the mirror on the dresser once more and purred at himself before laughing weakly as he couldn't even stand to hear his own loud voice, he walked towards the hotel door and waving towards Hedeon with a playful wink before leaving out the door and going downstairs to get something to eat.

"Oh... hi, Cheese," she said in a dull voice, letting him in and shutting the door after him before turning and going back to her bed, lying down and staring at the wall.

"Ah, yes, it seems she got in a fight with a boy who was much bigger than her. Also rather skilled in Dark Magic, it seems, which may pose a problem in the future," Rabbit explained, as he looked down at Katelyn and watched her sleep. He then turned to Hailey, and noticed the worry and hopelessness in her eyes. She and Katelyn were close, like Aria and Catherine, and she wanted Katelyn to be safe and taken care of. Rabbit thus encouraged her, telling her, "She will be better soon enough, if you do all of those things for her. There is no need to worry, especially considering you already know how to take care of a concussion. I will be sure to come check on her occasionally as-"

"Oh my stars!"

As Rabbit had been speaking to Hailey, Madame Bourbon had managed to find the room, and she hurried over in her red gown and high heels to Katelyn's side. She looked over her, examining the damage Saturninus had done to her, which was quite substantial. "...Oh good heavens. I must apologize myself, for my student's behavior," she answered, as she turned back around to face Rabbit. She did not even acknowledge Hailey, who was standing by and trying to look at Katelyn herself. "If there is anything I can do, I will make up for it however I can," she continued.

The masked teacher was not at all pleased to see her, and his stiff posture and cool air demonstrated this. He was not sure how she got here, or why she even thought she was helping by making such a scene. She would only make Hailey more nervous and more insecure than she already was. "...Thank you, Madame, but there is no need at the moment. Miss Winters behind you will take good care of her. Of course, you could do a favor and keep Saturninus from potentially killing anymore students. I am sure you would not like for me to catch him doing something like this again, now, would you?" His tone was incredibly cold, and it was clear he wanted her out of the room. He did not trust her anymore than he could throw her.

Madame Bourbon did acknowledge Hailey, as Rabbit mentioned her, but as she looked behind her at the cute, pink-haired girl, her eyes showed the slightest glint of disdain. Looking at her, one could tell that Madame Bourbon saw Hailey as trash. "...Perhaps you should have a trained medical professional examine her, instead of a young femme de la rue?" she asked, counting on Rabbit to not know French.

He knew enough, of course, and if Hailey and Katelyn had not been in the room, he would have dealt with her very badly. Of course, he maintained his (semi)professional air, and he answered, "We do indeed have a medic. But I am sure Miss Winters can take care of her friend quite well. If she was not, perhaps then I would have gone looking for someone who walks around during the daytime in a $600 gown and 4-inch heels to give me medical advice. Other than that, I see no problems with this current setup. Have a good day, Madame."

She was absolutely insulted by Rabbit's comments, but she of course could not bad-mouth him right here and show him that he had gotten on her nerves. He had kicked her out the room, and now she needed to go and regain her composure. After all, she had plenty of work to do later. Without another word, she marched out of the room, slamming the door behind her.

As soon as she was gone, Rabbit laughed, a little louder than usual, since he had obviously frightened her off. He then turned back toward Hailey. "I believe in you, sweetheart. I will tell John to help you if you need anything, but other than that, we are both sure you can take care of Katelyn, are we not?" he asked her.

Natalie tugged on Rabbit's clothes.

Bunny-Man, she whimpered, can... can I have a hug now?

Thank you.
Cheese wiped his eyes and curled up next to Hikari. He rested his muzzle on her shoulder.
"...What's wrong?"

Hikari reached up with a trembling hand and stroked Cheese's nose.

"...I... I..."

She couldn't talk about it. She just shook her head. Cheese didn't know, and she didn't want him to know. She'd only ever told one person, and he was the only one she trusted to be able to help her.

Looking down and seeing Natalie was still clinging to him, Rabbit indeed picked up the little doll and held her. She was so soft and tiny, it was a shocker that she could potentially be a deadly monster inside. Then again, the same could be said very easily for him, though he hardly let anyone know this. He knew Natalie's pain quite well, and that was why he felt he was almost a father to her, as he felt he was to Aria...

For quite some time now, Scott had been idly standing by and watching the three boys, Henry, Allistor, and Etienne fight all while coddling Bertram in his arms. It was somewhat amusing. It gave him time to read their cards and decide how his magic would go up against theirs. With his intense glare upon the battle, he had realized that his magic would most definitely dominate both Allistor and Etienne in terms of elemental opposition. He wasn't entirely sure of how he would match up against Henry, but, in his confidence, he had assumed that his victory would be ensured in most scenarios. And they all used weapons. Maybe some of them were enchanted? Still primitive. Scott hadn't gotten to know the three boys all that well, but perhaps he could make them his "friends". They would be useful, and that he was sure of.

Now, he just stood at a distance away from the three and continued to observe them fight. He would get to see their powers, while he could keep his cards concealed. Lucky him. The mage of the sun then brought a hand up to scratch at the back of Bertram's right ear, grinning thinly.

Hailey Winters

Hailey had given Bourbon her most masterful annoyed teenager eye rolling. She had already gotten the hint from Rabbit that the woman shouldn't be trusted.

"Rabbit, why do I get the feeling that that woman couldn't give half a shit about Kate? I get the feeling she's going to be running back to congratulate the kid that did this not punish him?"

Elizabeth Tsukuyomi

Liz made her way to Soliel's room, looking to see if he had any information on Saturninus. She supposed that boy was the exemplar of the Rise doctorine. Honestly Tsukuyomi had a bit of an urge to put him down now, but he was young, maybe there would be a chance for him to redeem himself, and judging by Soliel's experiences, that boy was probably just as much a victim of his family. Thus she was here, knocking on the door, waiting for her future apprentice to open the it.

Amélie Aleramici-Gramont

Amélie had come down to the courtyard, and found exactly what she was looking for. A fight. Well, at least some sparring. She reached out to the french boy Étienne, she though, from the ball, and tapped him on the arm. Ignoring the fight that was starting.

"You know the tournament is going to be solo fighting, perhaps I would be a more fitting choice to spar with? I promise I can hold my own."

"If she does, dear, there is nothing we can do...at least for the moment. Besides, if she does sick him on Kate, or any of the students, again, I can assure you she will have no student to congratulate for such an act next time. Between you and I, of course," he told her, cheerfully as usual. "...But anyway, I shall leave you to Katelyn, and I will go get John to assist you, in the meantime. I will see you around, dear," he told her. He then walked out of the room, with Natalie still on his shoulder.

Meanwhile, Soleil went back to his room with a tray of his own, now, having gone back down to the cafeteria to get one for himself, now. As he got to his room, he saw Tsukiyomi there, and his eyes widened. He could not help but think about how she had desired that he become her son. Did she really mean it, or was it all a dream? Slowly, nervously, he approached her as she arrived at his room. "...Professor Tsukiyomi?...D-Did you need me for something?" he asked, shyly.

On the battlefield, Étienne had been waiting for an opening from the two Mana boys. However, as he noticed Amelie, he turned to her and listened. She was a sweet, pretty girl, quite cute actually, and he blushed slightly as she spoke to him. However, when she mentioned sparring, of course, he shook himself back to reality. "Oh, so you want to fight, then? Alright. I won't go easy on you, madamoiselle," he answered her, before he got into a battle stance. His large sword and shield were ready to go. "...You can go first," he told her, being a gentleman.

She may not have liked the present, but that does not mean she hates you...Tell me, what did you get her exactly, Natalie?" He knew that she did not know any better, and she only saw what Hikari showed her, none of the nuance that laid behind her immediate reactions. In other words, she had the mind of a toddler. Thus, while he was honest with her, he was also gentle, knowing she did not understand this.

I got Mama a nice doll, Natalie mumbled. She looked like Mama. Thought she'd like her. 'Cause she could have another one like me and I could have Mama always be with me. But she yelled at me and broke her...

She buried her tiny face in Rabbit's shoulder.

Why did she yell at me? Why'd she break my present?

He continued to stroke her tiny back and hair, and he thought about what she had told him. A doll that looked like her? He could see how that could go wrong. After all, considering all of the talk Hikari had made over not wanting to be a 'doll' like Kasumi used to be, it only made sense that she did not want to see a doll that looked like herself. She did not want to consider that she herself could be a doll, just like that, a toy that people could play with and toss aside. Like Katelyn and Annice, she was fragile, despite all of her bluster. One wrong move and she would shatter herself, just like the doll she broke.

"...Sometimes, sweetheart...when people see certain things...they are reminded of things they...do not like to be reminded of. Hikari has had some...very awful memories regarding seeing herself as a doll...and she still has a lot of pain in her heart, as do many people here...You are an innocent little creature, and you do not know these things...I hope you never have to know that sort of pain..." he whispered to her, thinking toward his own sad memories as he told her this.

Perfect.

Scott now got to see more people practice. He wouldn't go so far to call it a jackpot, but he could learn about four other students' abilities. Quite fantastic. His stroking became a bit more vigorous behind Bertram's ears and the hound rubbed its head up against Scott's chest, clearly enjoying the affection it was receiving. Scott took brief notice of this and let out a brisk, stifled chuckle.

...But Mama isn't a doll, Natalie said in confusion. Mama is cool. If Mama's anything, she's an action figure. Natalie tried to laugh, but failed miserably.

...I wish she wasn't mad at me, she said sadly.

Hailey Winters

Hailey nodded. Not entirely content now, to be in a foreign hotel hosted by school who's headmaster seemed perfectly content if her students ended up killing those from mana. She didn't really know how well Rabbit could keep his promise, but he was powerful enough to be a teacher at mana, so he must have some pretty impressive.
Then Hailey had an idea, she held her hand up to her head, carefully tuning her magic to make just the right frequency of sound. It took a bit to get right, but soon she could "see" the inside of her own head, it was an interesting experience she took some time, making note of what she "saw". Then she moved on and repeated the procedure with Kate, looking with sound to see if she could find anything wrong. Her magical ultrasound didn't reveal anything to different from what she saw in her own, hopefully healthy head. That was a good thing. She had been told that the biggest immediate threat with concision was a bleed in the brain, when she was being treated for her concussion. Hailey went to the bathroom and filled up a large glass with water, somehow also finding a straw in the room. She put the glass down on the nightstand next to Kate, then sat down on the bed across from her.

Amélie Aleramici-Gramont

Amélie nodded with a smile, then gave a slight curtsy to the boy. As she came up from the motion, a warhammer with a head the size of a toddler materialized in her hand, and she swung it with inhuman speed and force. If the boy decided to try to block it with his shield, he would end up with a badly dented shield and a horribly broken arm. His only chance was to get out of the way. Even with how strong the blow was, Amélie had to obey most of the law of physics, and the weapon pushed her balance to the limits.

Well, that was certainly unexpected. The concept that some people would simply use magic to manifest weapons into existence perplexed him. Could they truly replace well-crafted killing tools? He supposed they did, if others were so intent on using their specialty blades and spears and whatnot. Scott realized that he didn't have a weapon of his own, but that didn't bother him much. What he could conjure could easily outclass what anyone else brought.

Yet how would he know? He had never been in a fight with one of them yet. He had no idea how hard it would be. And although he had set in place contingency plans, without any actual experience, how far could he go? This thought always joggled to and fro in his mind, and made him anxious about his true abilities. His resolute self-confidence faltered.

But he had to always be sure of himself. Any form of doubt would mean defeat. And he couldn't have that, obviously.

Hikari has had some...very awful memories regarding seeing herself as a doll...and she still has a lot of pain in her heart, as do many people here...You are an innocent little doll, and you do not know these things...I hope you never have to know that sort of pain..." he whispered to her, thinking toward his own sad memories as he told her this.

...But Mama isn't a doll, Natalie said in confusion. Mama is cool. If Mama's anything, she's an action figure. Natalie tried to laugh, but failed miserably.

...I wish she wasn't mad at me, she said sadly.

"...She is more angry at herself than she is at you, sweetie...You may not understand now...but one day you will see..." He walked down the hall with her, and he carried her out to the courtyard, allowing her to sit on her shoulder as he did so. In the meantime, he spoke to her. "...When I was just a little bigger than you, Natalie...I remember seeing snow for the first time...Someone very special to me...showed it to me...It was beautiful...But then, not too long later..."

"...Papa? Please get up...please..."

"He's dead, Rabbit. You need to move so we can take the body.

"...Papa...Papa, please...get up...I am sorry for disobeying you...If I say sorry, will you get up again?...Papa?"

"Look at it. It's mourning him."

"Don't be an idiot. Machines can't feel. It's just like a gun without a hand. Now it has nobody to use it."

"Well, then, it will just need someone else."

Looking down into the pale face of a young man in his early thirties. Once upon a time, there was life in that cold face. Not ten minutes ago, in fact. Yet now there was nothing there. The green eyes that had shown so many expressions and that had glowed so uniquely were now blank and lightless.

Then there was the small, thin, pale creature kneeling over it, staring into those eyes, long white hair brushing the snowy ground beneath it. The creature shivered profusely, wearing the large, thick, black wool coat 'Papa' had left behind for it. Of course, the creature could not actually see 'Papa'. Its mask was nearby in the snow, thus its face and bandaged eyes saw nothing.

Thus, it did not realize immediately that the man was dead. Slowly, it lowered its head against his heart to listen. Hearing nothing, it slowly dawned on the creature, and it would not move from that spot. It cuddled with the body, in the same way an army dog might try and cuddle with the casket of the dead soldier, its fallen master, inside.

"...Papa..." For the first time, the creature had whispered the word and pure sorrow, as much as the little creature knew, flowed forth. There were no tears, but none were needed. Anyone who stood near the little 'weapon' and its 'handler' could tell that human emotion had shown itself.

One of the other men shuddered, as they heard the word, and they walked toward the creature, only to be jerked back by a teammate. "Hey! What gives?!" the man shouted back.

"We don't 'comfort' machines! If you're going to go over there, you need to grab that thing and bring it back here. We'll have to repair it again, before the next mission," a cruel, burly man answered behind him.

"...Papa..."

Fresh snow fell softly over everyone, in the cold, bleak December afternoon. It covered the flow of blood that had poured from 'Papa's' body. It dusted the clothes of the men who stood by, flabbergasted that a tool could show any sort of affection toward its wielder. Finally, it settled in the hair and on the cloak of the mournful little creature, who found the man's forehead and gave it a kiss, before it stood again. It was not very tall, and it was dwarfed by all of the angry men standing nearby. It continued to shiver, looking as though it was going to break in any moment.

"...I love you..."

Rabbit had gotten caught in his memories, and he did not finish the sentence. When he got outside with Natalie, then, he simply stood by the door, staring into the distance in gloomy silence.

Of course, he did move out of the way, and he smiled as he saw how strong she was. He admired strong people, and it impressed him even more that such a cute girl would have such a forceful weapon. "...A war hammer?...I like it. Well, then, it's my turn," he answered. He then rushed her, before spinning and preparing to slam his own sword and shield into her. They were big enough that the impact would surely throw her into a nearby wall, or at the very least hurt very much.
