Shaun Calhoun and Dominique Corleone

Both Shaun and Dominique were cornered and separated like a couple of deer being hunted like a pack of wolves. It was a rather intense situation no less being in more, how you say, hunted type of situation. For Dominique, however, he had a more serious predicament on his hands. As he was in a circle, the four horsemen circled around him as if they were trying to daze and confuse him. It did work for a moment as the dust and thunderous claps of hooves slamming against the earth began to mess with his senses, which cause him to shake his head to get a grip of what was going on. And when he regained his sense of direction, he saw that they were all beginning to charge at him, weapons burning fiercely with the color purple filling his eyes.
Out of complete instinct, he quickly rose his arms above him to cover his head, hoping that the shield itself would protect his body. However, that wasn't the case. Suddenly, the ground around him began to rumble and quake just as loud as the hooves of the horses themselves before, without a hint of warnings or alarms, the soft and plush grass below his feet quickly became uprooted and grow before the sunlight filling Dom's eyes were quickly shut off from him. He meekly looked up to see that he was looking at the soft shades of green above him with the sun's circular outline being seen as well.

"Wha..." Was what he whispered as he looked to see what had happened. All around him looked like a large green slightly translucent sheet that was thrown over him. Yet, there was nothing around him. No horsemen, no weapons, no Shaun or Artosh, nothing. It was even silent for a moment. It was like he was in a vacuumed space in which there was no escape. Soon, after, he began to feel his heart beat a little faster now in concern. "O-okay...What is going on here..." He whispered to himself. Composing himself, Dominique walked up towards the fleshy green sheet that covered him, and with hesitant and slow movements, lifted his right hand up to place his palm on the surface of his green prison.
Upon feeling the touch of it, he gasped softly and tensed up before quickly removing his hand away from it. It soft, fuzzy, and fleshy texture sent chills down his spine as it was nothing that he'd ever seen before.

However, on the other hand, outside of the pod was different.
The four horsemen all stood staring at the unknown and abrupt arrival of this alien object standing in between them and their prey. This soon made them agitated as they once again began preparing to charge into the object. But suddenly, in a blink of an eye, a large, sharp thorn emerged from the growth that surrounded the pod, only to then impale itself into one of the soldier's chest, and going out of the other side. And all the while this commotion went outside, inside, Dominique just continued to watch in worry and anxiety as to what was going on.
"Um...Hello? Can anyone hear me?" He said a little louder with an unsure tone in his voice, which quite frankly filled the cool, quiet, and dense air around him.

Meanwhile, Shaun watched as his own force had to be contained. He stood a great distance from them, only to see that two of them had fired off their arrows into the air. It was like watching shooting stars light up the dark skies, which were sadly replaced by the presence of daylight that soon consumed their shines, only to become shadows in the sky. Shaun grunted as he prepared his shield to block their attacks, only to catch something out of the corner of his eye. As he turned his head to the left of the mysterious object, he saw that there was a young blond male wearing his usual loose-fitting, yet ever-so comfortable clothes. His face which was usually so pale with only the bright sapphire eyes piercing into you thinking of what you were going to say next. But now, that wasn't the case. That usual pale face had now become bright pink and red, yet his eyes...His eyes seemed to be a soft pink as well, as if he was upset over something. But given the distance that was between them, it was kinda hard to exactly tell. But even so, Shaun had an uneasy feeling about what was going on. But unfortunately for him, that feeling was completely overshadowed by his current tasks.

Before he could get a chance to react, Shaun soon found himself collapsing in the dirt and grass as the arrows made impact with him, and throwing him off balance. If it wasn't for the fact that his shield was protecting him at the most basic level, he surely would've got hit with a more serious blow to his body. But for now, he could feel a sudden pain in his right arm as one of the arrows managed to hit and stun him. While on the ground, Shaun watched as the horsemen all began to directly charge at him, causing him to take a more drastic turn. While laying on his back, he took his short bow and aimed it towards his enemies before a water arrow twice the normal size for that particular bow formed in his hand. And with the simple release of his fingers, he shot the arrow.
As it escaped from his grip and traveled through the sky, it quickly unraveled into what appeared to be a rather large tidal wave of some sort. It continued to travel in a fixed, neat, and straight path as it waters itself was quickly churning violently as if it was in a storm. Soon, the arrow made contact with its targets head-on as it quickly created a large cylinder around all four men and their horses, only to be swallowed up by the violent waters.

Although the crashing waves and churning of the water was similar to that of a hurricane, the water itself stayed within the cylinder itself, as on the outside of the shape, the average person could only watch the events unfold as though they were at an aquarium. The sight of the Terra Cotta knights and horses to be swirled around and submerged underwater was as if they were all sucked out to sea. As that continued, Shaun looked down at his arm only to see what looked like a bright pink swath on him. He groaned softly and winced as he got up, putting pressure on his arms. Soon he walked towards Artosh with what now looked to be a face of concern and warmness.

"Thank you Artosh. For letting us train. I would love to continue fighting and practicing, but for now, I must put it on hold as I just remembered something that was very important for me to take care of right now.
I am really sorry for such a sorry fight, but I think someone needs me. I hope you don't mind, and if you need to, you can tell Allistor about me, and also I'll accept any consequences that you throw at me for such a lackluster fight. But please sir," he said looking into his eyes with a soft smile, "can I end my training early and go and fulfill a quick task."

Behind him, the sudden sound of rushing water filled their ears as his invisible cylinder suddenly gave way, thus releasing the army from their trap. The water itself reverted back to normal water, soaking everything in its path, including Shaun's shoes and socks, as well as Artosh's as a rather ankle-high wave came crashing into them. He looked down to blush slightly before turning to see Dominique, who was still in the sudden plant, calling out for help. "Oh? Oh my...What happened..." He softly said to himself as he blinked and arched his eyebrows in confusion.

Valerie was not responding. Soleil did not know if maybe she had already gone to the other side of the island and had left him behind. He only became more distressed then, and his feelings of pain and self-doubt were exacerbated. He continued to cry into his hands, wishing silently for his scars to disappear. He would look down at his arms occasionally, and then would put his face back in his hands. As he stood crying, however, he heard a calm, concerned voice behind him.

He whirled around, and saw Shaun looking at him, unsure about what to do or say to comfort him. Soleil knew he was anxious, but he did not care. He simply threw his arms around his friend and put his head against Shaun’s chest. He was not sure how to describe what he had just felt with Gwyndolynn, and so the words merely leaked out of him. “...Never...going to be normal...Never...going to look...like I should...Don’t know...what should I do...I’m scared...I’m scared...” His voice cracked and fell apart, and he put his entire weight against Shaun, weakened from crying so hard.

Artosh Luxenia

A trickle of blood escaped from Artosh's lips as his knights were shredded like paper within the water vortex. His sapphire blue eyes looked with disbelief as the runes that animated the earthen constructs were destroyed by the pressure and force of Shaun's whirlpool. The magic that kept them alive was ripped apart and even their self destruct mechanism was destroyed all together. What was left was muddy water and a few sparks of his own mana being devoured by Shaun's water magic. A smug smile appeared on Artosh's face as he wiped off the blood from the edge of his smile. "You... You're good... Heh... Very well, you passed today's assessment with flying colors!" The bursting of the water bubble was a surprise for Artosh though and he yelped and jumped back as the muddy water flew through all directions. His white coat was stained at some spots with mud, making him frown a bit.

Shaun's soft exclamation towards Dominique's dilemma did take Artosh's attention from the thought of cleaning his uniform to aiding his student. It seems like the young boy unleashed a defensive spell around himself subconsciously and now he could not go out. The earthen knights that were tasked to fight Dominique were rendered powerless against the defense of the plant structure and even their sharp burning weapons couldn't leave a scratch. Artosh called out to Dominique as he set up a defensive spellwork underneath their feet. "Dominique! I'll try to blast open the plant to free you! Supernova!" The four knights stretched their weapons forward as they charged towards the strange plant, alight in a brilliant shine of purple. Their weapons buried themselves into the plant, not so much as to wound it but to push into it and stretching it, and suddenly the knights combusted and exploded into a pillar of celestial purple fire. The flames swirled around the plant to try and corrode its defenses so that the student within could be freed. Artosh was breathing heavily as he maintained the spell's strength until the flames dissipated to reveal a blackened plant with a scorched hole where Dominique could be seen through. Artosh smiled as he tried to catch his breath, nearing his body's limits as his use of Arcane magic was too bold and too hasty. "G... Good... job... Haa... That was... a nice... plant barrier..."

The white haired professor's smile and compliments were genuine. This generation of young mages has exceeded the strength of adult mages of generations before. Mana Academy's youth have proven themselves worthy time to time of the praises they receive. He could see a bright future before them, a bright future that the previous generations failed to grasp. He reached towards his lab coat's inner pockets to retrieve a test tube filled with a turquoise liquid. The cork flew off as he impatiently pulled it off to gulp it down. The Arcane mana within him slowly subsided, regressing back to a semi dormant state. 'I... I can't show weakness... to my students...' Artosh took a few more breaths to calm himself down before stowing away the used test tube back in his coat. "You did well! I never thought that you'd nullify my attacks at such a level!" He smiled towards Dominique as he walked towards him. He placed a few pats of encouragement on the boy's shoulders with a kind smile on his face. "If you want, I can help you control your passive defenses!" Each and every student at Mana has their own unique potential and possibilities and it has always been the creed of the Academy to nurture their students. After a few kind words of encouragement, Artosh had his attention drawn back to Shaun who had another familiar student hugging and clinging to him. "Soleil?" He knew that the boy had a lot of problems to deal with since it's just been a few weeks ago that his mother perished at the hands of the student body and school faculty. Perhaps the boy had encountered some problems and now has sought the embrace of his dear friend. Artosh could only stand beside Dominique, unsure what to do or say.

Shaun Calhoun & Dominique Corleone

A small gasp escaped from Shaun's mouth in a state of surprise when he was suddenly ambushed by Soleil as he hugged him. How he managed to get from the edge of the forest all the way towards him in such a quick time without him noticing was something that he couldn't comprehend. Was he really that fast of a runner? But nevermind that little internal questioning, he had more important things to focus on.
Looking down at the young boy, Shaun listened to his soft crying. Soon his ears caught on to what mumbled words that meekly escaped his mouth. "Wha-" But before he could even finish his own word, Soleil once again hugged him harder, even to place his entire body weight on him. A little annoyed by it, he carefully lead the boy down with him so that they were both sitting down on the ground; Shaun with his arms wrapped around Soleil as he held him in between his legs with his face buried in his chest. He completely forgot about the water from his training that was drenched all over the ground as he could feel the cool wetness of the ground under him.
Caressing his hair, Shaun softly sighed and rocked Sol back and forth before he looked up at Artosh and flashed a small smile towards him, nodding towards him as if to thank him for his help for his training, as well as show some understanding towards him for their current situation. But soon he turned his attention towards his new interest. Releasing Sol, Shaun held his hands together, even though he used a great deal of his mana in such a short burst, and soon began to craft something. And after a short while, in his palms appeared a rather small construct of a kitten. He had done this enough times to know what can help calm him down. With a kitten in one hand, Shaun grabbed Soleil's own hands and held them out in front of him before he then placed the animal in them and returned his hands back towards his chest. And within that time span, Shaun thought about how to approach this.

"So Soleil," he said in a concerning tone with warm eyes, "now can you please tell me what's wrong? And I want the whole truth, no matter the amount of details needed. Did someone do something to you? Why are you scared? What or who are you afraid of?" He lost track of how many times he had to ask these questions to Soleil, but it seemed that with each same question, there was a new answer waiting for him.

As this was going on, there was another even that needed to be addressed. Dominique was still trapped in his own accidental plant cocoon, and the amount of time inside of it began to increase his sense of anxiety and worry. "What is this? Where did it come from? I know they can hear me, right!? I know they can see me! But what if they can't? Oh no, what if I'm invisible for them? That means that I'm trapped here..." His words soon grew quieter as he began to grow more and more anxious. He then began pacing in a circular motion around the edge of the plant to help calm down and figure out what could he do to get out of this.
But a plan was soon dispersed as he watch as four weapons sliced into the plant around him, causing him to scream in surprise and quickly aimed his pistol towards the ones in front of him, preparing to fire at a moment's notice. But instead he was met with the sudden appearance of sunlight as it peered into his eyes, causing him to squint before a bright flash of light surround him followed by a series of large sounds. Wincing, Dominique quickly composed himself only to see that his four horsemen were no longer surrounding him. As well as to be met by a certain white-haired professor coming over to congratulate him on something. Confused, he blinked and scratched his head as he tried to figure out what Artosh was talking about with a plant barrier. Though then again, he sounded very tired as if he just got through running a marathon. "Um, signore, are you okay? Do you need to rest?" He said in concern as he watched him drink his weird blue serum.

And soon afterwards, it was like he was back to normal...Sort of. He still looked and sounded kinda out of it, but better than before. Even to come up to him and give him some compliments. All Dom could do is blush in embarrassment and looked away from him after listening to his word. "W-what? I don't even know what I did Arty." He softly chuckled. "One minute and I was trying to defend myself, and the next thing I knew, I was in his weird green thing...heh..." However listening to what Artosh had to say about helping him, he smiled weakly and nodded at his offer. "Why, um, yeah. I would like that. Thank you." Dominique then looked at Artosh who muttered the word "Soleil", causing him to furrow his eyebrows and turn where his head was pointing only to see that Shaun and Soleil were laying on the ground. Judging by what their position and facial expression, Dominique knew what was going on. Sighing softly and shaking his head in annoyance, he turned back towards Artosh and looked at him. "Um, hey... I think that they would like some alone time to talk, so in the meantime, how about I take you to the cafeteria and help you regain your energy by cooking you whatever you want to eat?" His words were cheery and excited as his eyes gleamed with excitement from the idea of cooking for a teacher. But soon, he then pouted and crossed his arms over his chest. "Also, in case you're going to say anything, I will not be accepting no for an answer. You look exhausted and you need more energy then whatever that blue thingy you just drank." Taking Artosh's hand, Dominique looked towards Shaun and nodded as the two walked towards the cafeteria, teacher in tow.

Nick Rider

Nick blinked at the way they spoke at the same time. Like an elegantly choreographed dance. It was slightly eerie, hearing the two of them speak in perfect harmony, voice so alike. It gave Nick goosebumps, even though the beach was quite warm.

"M-my name? Oh...oh yeah, sure, of course. M'name's Nick. Short for Nicholas. But how's that gonna help you fuse with me?" Nick was slightly on edge by now, but his curiosity kept him in place as he stood up, brushing sand off his jeans.

Taking Artosh's hand, Dominique looked towards Shaun and nodded as the two walked towards the cafeteria, teacher in tow.

Soleil continued to weep into Shaun’s shirt, as he sat down with him and comforted the distressed little Mage. He did not quite understand what Soleil had said, but he still wanted to soothe him. Even rocking him back and forth caused for Soleil to slowly stop crying. His sobs quieted until they became sniffles, and then Shaun sat him upright so he could face him. Soleil wiped his eyes, watching Shaun as he used his Mana to create a construct in his hands. He leaned closer to see what it was, and gasped when Shaun opened his hands.

A little kitten sprung to life, meowing and crawling around in its creator’s hands. When Shaun gently placed the creature in Soleil’s arms, he cradled it as though it was crafted from glass. His eyes were wide, and his tears stopped. His friend knew exactly how to calm him, and Soleil smiled with gratitude at his best friend. He pet the squirming kitten with care, feeling the warmth and compassion that radiated from the little construct.

Asked about what had caused Soleil such heartache, he nodded and cleared his throat. “...Gwynn and Lynn...th-they’re...two new kids...twins. Th-They can use their powers to...fuse together...a-and they...offered to show me...Th-They took my hands and...showed me...” he whispered. He then stared down at the kitten, which stared up at him as he scratched behind its tiny ears. “...W-We...fused...became one person...and I looked...totally different...I got taller, skinnier...I-I looked...amazing!” His eyes glowed, as he remembered how he had looked at himself in the pocket-mirror, and had not recognized himself.

“...I-I almost...looked like Alli, even!...A-And...I-I...” He leaned closer, not wanting Dom or Artosh to hear him. His eyes glistened once again, as he motioned toward the cuffs of his sleeves. “...I had no scars...I-I felt...brand-new!...Like I was someone else, not...not someone...who’s little, and childish, and...who hasn’t grown since...since...” He broke back into sobs, and leaned his head against Shaun’s chest. “...I-I...I just want...to be normal...again...” he mumbled, as his tears streamed down his cheeks again and landed in the kitten’s soft fur.

Literally appearing out of thin air, Basil appeared at the boy's side, looking at the Academy with curious eyes once more. The eccentric, tea-loving professor liked the place, even if some of the students went away to fight. A pacifist, Basil found wars to be stupid things, but with an unequaled strength and a dangerous bright that caught the attention of everyone near.

"I am. What is your doubt, young man? I am Basil Smith, teacher here."

Sanja, being as susceptible to surprise as he was, jumped at the sudden presence that appeared next to him.

"WHA?!"

Sanja's bag fell into the crook of his elbow as he took a defensive stance against the professor, soon dropping it after he had processed the fact that it was indeed a professor that had come to his aid. He sighed deeply to calm himself before speaking.

"My apologies, I was surprised at your...sudden...appearance. My name is...." He paused momentarily and thought. I can't very well use my real name in these circumstances even if most of the staff and students don't know about me...how about...Sanja Sigck. "Sanja Sigck. I'm a new student here, and I am unsure about where I am to present myself. I am assigned to Ignis, being a user of lightning. Can you show me where I am to go?"

Basil Smith

"Oh, a new student. That is always wonderful to have. Well, the Ignis dorms are opposed to the Aquo ones, and their students are easily identifiable by their red robes and their... expansive behavior usually. Once you see them, they'll guide you through the House's facilities. Sanja, I welcome you to Mana Academy."

Basil kept a calm tone while speaking to the newcomer. In times of turmoil with students and teachers going to war in Europe, the teacher made sure he was a beacon of peace for the other students, specially the ones worried with their friends. As an adult, he tried to give them support, even if they were intriguing as a boy with the name of Sanja.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Sanja bowed his head slightly to the professor in an expression of gratitude. "Thank you professor. I'll be on my way now then. I must get settled in before the quarterly exams take place. Good day to you sir."

With that, he shouldered his luggage. A few black sparks flew from his heels, and in less than the blink of an eye he was at the Ignis dorms. I wonder if this will end up being a good decision after all. Right now all of the ones I have hurt are elsewhere, so I can build up a reputation here without worry for now. Sanja entered the room, placing his bag upon his new bed before sitting down against its skirt and meditating.

Artosh Luxenia

The white haired professor watched the scene of his students crying on the ground with tired eyes full of complicated emotions. With his heart still under the effect of his overexertion and coupled with the sadness that tugged at his heart's strings, it felt heart wrenching seeing the small blonde boy clutch onto Shaun's shirt and bawl his eyes out because of some matter. He knew Soleil was soft and very different from the malice that his last name carries. To see the young boy here being comforted by his kind classmate, it felt like he must do something yet it felt like it wasn't his problem to solve, that he has no right to interfere on such matters. He was about to speak when Dominique pulled on his hand and dragged him out of the scene with the promise of food.

He looked at his student with a tired smile and with eyes drooping, looking dreamy with cloud like messy hair and sky blue eyes. "Oh wow... This is the first time I was ever asked on a date! Such an embarrassing moment for me to be asked out by my own student!" Artosh managed to sigh out with a low voice, his face still pale from exhaustion. A good meal could help him regain some of his strength and food made by Mages have significant magical aftereffects. From what he could infer from Dominique, the young boy is confident with his skills when it comes to culinary. Artosh tried to keep up with his student's footsteps, trying to not be a burden to him. "So what are you thinking of cookin'? I have great hopes, ya know!" Artosh said as he smiled, his bright personality shining again.

Shaun Calhoun

"...I see..."

Upon hearing his words of distress, Shaun frowned slightly. It seemed that whenever there's some form of a new student at this school, they usually come to Soleil to create some form of anxiety or anguish that everyone else has to comfort. Regardless of who these new students were, they have already left a bitter taste in his mouth. Watching as his training partner and teacher left off to eat- with Shaun looking towards Dom and subtly nodding to him for thanks, he then turned his attention back towards Soleil as he tried to figure out what to say. He knew that using the same approach can get rather boring, especially for himself, but to suddenly change it up as if he was an entirely different person might cause even more problems.

The kitten on the other hand continued to relax inside of Soleil's hands as it enjoyed the warmth and comfort that radiated off of him. Rather oblivious to what was going around it, the construct could still sense the amount of stress that came from its handler. And in response with this large amount of dejection and insecurities, the kitten began releasing small amounts of mana around it, acting as a form of comfort for both the handler and the creature itself. This would make Soleil feel as though he felt warmer and relax, reducing his stress and worries long enough so that his sobs would lessen and even slow down the amount of cortisol inside of him. And with this amount of time given, Shaun finally had some idea of what he can say to the young mage.

"First off all, you say that you looked amazing as though you weren't already amazing, no?" He started off saying as he repositioned himself so that Sol's back was laying close to his chest. His own arms wrapped around his waist in such a fashion in that a mother would hug her child in times of need or to offer protection from the world around them. "We'll get to that later on, but now I want to discuss a more important matter."

"Secondly, did we have a discussion about you comparing yourself to others?" His voice then was filled with uncertainty as if he was asking for reassurance. "Hm. But if we didn't," he started off saying, reverting back to his comforting and reassuring tone, "then I want you to know now, that you must never compare yourself to anyone else, do you hear me? Regardless of what anyone says or does...as cliche as it sounds." A small chuckled escaped his mouth as he finished his sentence. "I know that Al is a great guy, but you mustn't compare yourself to him. Or to me, Henry, or any of the other students. Because it can soon become an unhealthy obsession similar to what is going on now. No matter what those...others showed to you, I want you to be confident in what you have now. Does that mean that you must just completely forget about it? No, but that still doesn't mean that you should belittle yourself down to nothing because of it.

Now, if you wanted to, you can work towards being your own alternate version of your other image. Or in other words, you can look similar to what you saw, but not change everything about you. I have a feeling that you may grow a few more inches in the next few years because you're still um...developing. But if you don't, then don't be ashamed about it. It isn't the end of the world. There's nothing wrong with how you look now. But...if you wanted to be skinnier," he said with a small unnoticeable amount of apprehension seeing as he was already small enough,"then maybe we can work on that. If you want, you can come to me for physical training so that I can help you in becoming slimmer or muscular. We'll take it slow at first, then as time passes and we see improvements, I will start progressing even more with out workouts. I'll be with you all the way, and will help you come up with a plan to reach your goals."

Sighing to himself as he caught his breath talking so much, he then continued with Soleil. "And also, you say that you want to be normal again? Can you tell me what was normal to you?"

Dominique Corleone

Dominique could suddenly feel himself blush furiously upon hearing the word "date" mentioned by Artosh as he lead him towards the cafeteria. He wasn't expecting to hear his plans be compared to a date. Especially from a teacher no less. "Dah, um...N-no sir." He struggled to say as he explained himself to Artosh about his plans. "T-this isn't like a date. I just saw that you seemed exhausted all of a sudden, and with what's going on with those two back there, as well as me being hungry, I decided to just fulfill everyone's wish by leaving and fixing something to eat." He chuckled softly at his words before quickly realizing just how fast he was walking. "Oh! I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to drag you around so fast. I just was so excited to cook for you heh..." A meek smile grew on his face in embarrassment before slowing down long enough for Artosh to catch up with him. Looking down at the latter's feet to make sure that he was going at the same pace as him, Dom once again looked up at the tired eyes of Artosh as he asked what he was going to make for him.

"Hm..." He started off saying as he placed his fist under his chin in a questioning manner as he began thinking of what to make. "Let's see. Well, given the time, its way too early for dinner, as well as I don't want to make anything too filling as well as time consuming because I want you to rest up quickly after you finish eating. Nor do I want it to be so greasy. But just enough to give you energy." Before long, they soon found themselves at the cafeteria where it was still rather vacant minus some of the staff there. He sat Artosh down in a booth and told him to wait for a bit as he went up to the head cook, James for permission. Since he was a regular there, as well as it was not busy with everyone gone, the chef gave him the green light to prepare a meal. Walking back towards the teacher with a small smile of approval, Dominique sighed softly and thought of a meal. "Um, well...How does a mushroom, Swiss, and Italian sausage grilled cheese sandwich with a side of baked fries?" Or do you have anything else that I can cook for you? Don't be shy at all, and just ask!" He laughed softly waiting on a response.

“No reason,” Gwyn replied, then stopping and letting Lynn finish the thought, “It’s just easier to have an introduction before we share a mind, you know?”

The two stepped closer to Nic, holding hands, and held out their free hands to him. After all, fusion was an experience, and forcing someone into one was likely not to make for a good one. It was definitely better to make absolutely sure before they began, just to be certain.

“Take our hands,” they said in unison, “And we can begin.”

Nick Rider

Nick blinked slightly, not any less perturbed than when they started. Nick would tell him his name and a couple other things that he took the grave with him.

"A-alright then." He then grasped their hands, both of them cool, but not cold. He left his grip loose, as he didn't want to constrict them. "L-let's begin." was all he said.

Thus it was time to start the chant, for the second time. At this rate, Gwyn, at least, began to ponder if they might have to put together a version for four. It did seem as if there were a whole lot more open minds here.

”From the hills of Wales, these two twins do hail,” they both chanted, “And this group of three is ever so fun, but now tis time for the three to become one!”

And with that, each of their forms burst into water, and all combined together into one, forming a whole new person. Lynn thought a good name might be Gwynniclynn, though it was a bit clunky. Maybe her twin, or Nick, would have a better alternative.

Artosh Luxenia

A bright and happy laugh cane from Artosh as he followed his student. "Ah! I'm sorry for making you worry! It's just that my body cannot take much stress from handling magic. Too much and I get weak. I didn't expect for Shaun to utterly destroy the knights down to the spell that controls them. That's why I suffered quite a backlash awhile ago..." There was sadness in the man's eyes, a sadness born from the feeling of uselessness. His body is too damaged and too reliant to the Arcane and he isn't fit to cultivate the blooming petals of this generation's geniuses. Shaun's demonstrated strength is frightening and it was just a show of practice. Dominique's innate connection to the earth is also nothing to sneeze at. It might have been through instinct and self defense but he couldn't damage that bulb shield without spending a lot of energy into his attacks. Artosh looked back at Dominique who was apologizing to him. He grinned and placed his arm around the boy's shoulder like how a close friend would do and in part to steady himself. "Oh it's fine! Worrying too much will grow you some white hairs like I did!"

Artosh took a sit on one of the many tables of Mana Academy's cafeteria. He listened to Dominique who went off to cook for him. He waved his hand towards the teen who is clearly ecstatic with the idea of making some food for his teacher. While his student was off asking for the resident chef's permission to use the kitchen, Artosh traced a pattern on the dark wooden table. It resembles flowing waters and the cool breeze in the wild. If one would look at the young professor now, it would seem that he is just scribbling on the table's surface while happily humming. Artosh looked up to Dominique who shared the news of making a wonderful sandwich. He nodded before adding something up. "May I ask for some hot soup? I'm fine with any kind of soup. I just like having something hot and warm to have during my meals."

Don't be shy at all, and just ask!" He laughed softly waiting on a response.

Soleil continues to let the tears fall for a few moments, until he began to feel the kitten radiating warmth in his arms. The sensation was tender and soothing, like a massage, and he stifled his sobs once again as Shaun tried to find the right words to use to comfort him. Before he said very much, however, he turned Soleil so that he sat against him, and wrapped his arms around his waist. Soleil blushed, feeling even warmer now, but the closeness to his friend made him feel safe.

As Soleil rested against Shaun, the latter explained that the small Mage should not try to compare himself to others. He did not need to try to be Allistor, or anyone else-he was amazing the way he looked already. Soleil held himself from crying, so that he could listen to Shaun as he consoled him. That weight had started to slip off his shoulders, but he still did not feel right. He wished that the nervousness in his stomach would settle, as he otherwise felt happy being embraced by his classmate. The idea of physical conditioning did appeal to him, however, and his ears perked as Shaun made the suggestion. “...A workout would be fun...I-I...might feel better...if I can...make myself stronger...” he agreed.

Yet now came the hard question: what did Soleil consider normal? He frowned, and pet the kitten in his arms as he reflected on Shaun’s inquiry. “...Normal...is...not being stunted...not being...held back...by the pain of my past...” He gently tickled the little kitten’s ears, playing with the light, velvety fur. “...I’ve read books...sometimes...when your body is pushed too hard...y-you...stop growing...but...you say...I’m also...amazing as I am...then...maybe all that’s left...is to leave behind...th-the pain...I’ve held for so long...” Once again, to keep from crying, he lifted the kitten to his face and hid his face in its fur. The loving heat calmed him, and filled him with peace, even as the images of his abuse flashed behind his eyes.

“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!” Ambrosia was so happy that Oliver had not rejected her, she clutched the letter to her chest and squeed. “He said he likes my personality! And that I’m fun! HE THINKS I’M FUN!!!” The positive response was a polar opposite from the impression she had gotten from Shaun, and she began to bounce around on her bed.

“W-Wait! Be careful, you don’t want to break the bed!” Cecily warned, holding back her laughter at the girl’s excitement. Ambrosia had been so down a few minutes ago, seeing her back to her cheery, goofy self was refreshing. She wished she could peer over to see exactly what Oliver had written, but Ambrosia would not let go of the letter long enough for anyone to get even a peek.

Finally, after a few moments, she fell back on the bed and collapsed, sighing with contentment. “Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh...I’m happy now. And I think I can train now. Because OLIVER THINKS I’M FUN AND WANTS TO TRAIN WITH ME AGAIN!!!” She was so loud that Cecily was almost worried that people could hear her outside the infirmary. At the same time, she did not do anything to try and hush her. Ambrosia felt loved, or at the very least appreciated, and that was what mattered at the moment.

Shaun continued to remain silent as he listened to Soleil explain to him what it meant to be normal. He softly frowned at his words as if he himself was the one talking. Once again, he had to think of what to say next. It was indeed frustrating trying to figure out what exactly to say next. He softly puffed his cheeks in irritation with himself before silence once again filled the air around the two of them, with only Sol's soft sniffling breaking their quietness. He sat there in silence for a few seconds longer than normal before opening his mouth. "Hm..." That was the only thing that he was able to say for now before falling back into silence again. Meanwhile the kitten enjoyed the amount of attention it was getting from the latter of the two as it softly mewed and laid on its back to expose Soleil's face its soft, warm belly. The slight of its pink belly rising and falling in a rhythmic fashion was also therapeutic even.

"Well if your body stops growing due to the amount of stress is put on it, then that must means that I'm not growing anymore." He softly chuckled in an attempt to make light-heart of the situation the best way he knew how.

"And yes, you are amazing. Just because you're not the height that others might desire doesn't mean that its the end of the world. In terms of physical features, you have a lot going on: Your gorgeous blonde hair," he started off saying as he carefully caressed his light yellow locks in his fingers, "those ocean blue eyes that are full of life, curiosity, and ambitions that can take you anywhere if you'd want to.

And personality-wise...you're...something else." He chuckled jokingly as he yawned to keep himself from getting too tired. "You're intelligent, kind, sensual, selfless, loving, and most of all, caring. You know how to make people feel good. Feel as though they can be themselves without having to fear or worry. You can make them feel normal." Every word he said sounded as though he was excited and amazed. His eyes lit up brightly upon talking about him, almost as if a mother doting and bragging about her son for all of his accomplishments."Now...If you have the ability to make other people feel normal, then...don't you think that maybe this is what makes you normal? If you understand what I'm trying to say. "You have worked your hardest to get to where you are today, and I'll be damned if I let you say or do anything drastic that will make you go backwards in your progress." If Soleil were to listen closely, he would've heard a soft amount of irritation in Shaun's voice. It was almost amazing how he had the ability to go from speaking ever so confidently and with optimism, only to sound so stern and deep. Now with a frown on his face, he unconsciously squeezed tighter around Soleil and deeply sighed.

"Yes. You're right. Now, this is a new chapter in your life. If all you do is focus on the past and everything that already happened, then you won't be able to get to be a new and improved you. And be a new normal. No matter what happened, and no matter what anyone else says about it, its up to you, and only you to build up the strength to build a new normal, and even a new future for yourself! I know that sometimes, things in your past may come back to haunt you, but that just means that you must be brave enough to move past that and better yourself! Do you understand what I am telling you?" His eyes were now full of passion and excitement as well as tiredness and irritation as he remained silent on how Soleil would answer him now.

Dominique Corleone

As he came back from the back of the kitchen from washing his hands, Dominique raised an eyebrow as he listened to the soft humming of Artosh as he looked down at the table. He was like a child content with everything around him, and not worried about nothing at all.

Hm. I gotta admit, that is a little cute, heh.

But soon, a small frown came across Dominique's face as he remembered looking at and listening to the dejection of his professor speak about his magic. "Hey," he suddenly exclaimed without giving much of a concern to his humming, "now would you cheer up? Jesus, why is everyone on this damn island so melancholy?" He joked with his signature hearty chuckle as he took the paper towel that he dried his hands with and tossed it into the trash.

"You did fine, and you should be confident in yourself that you were even able to create such constructs. Now can you at least be proud of yourself in that? Now, what you need is some more practice of controlling your mana endurance! You and Shaun have that problem: using your mana for large bursts for such a short amount of time. Maybe you both can learn how to build up your endurance and maybe you'll be less tired!" He grinned cheerfully before looking back at the white haired teacher upon listening to a request for soups. He blinked in curiosity with his request and cleared his throat before answering him.

"Soup? Well, of course! Let's see...Something hot huh? Well, I don't really know a lotta soup recipes, but how does a garlic-roasted chicken that's shredded up and made with a creamy chicken gnocchi soup? Its hearty, yet light, hot, and can be stored for later use. It will take about a total of...an hour, so would you like any drinks, sides, appetizers, or anything else while we wait? I can keep you company as well, while I'm cooking! Just let me know, and I'll do my best signore." Once again, a radiant smile came across Dominique's face as he felt a little excited on making the dish. "Oh! And do you have any form of allergies or preferences that I should be warned about?" He inquired with his head slightly tilted to the side in curiosity.

He inquired with his head slightly tilted to the side in curiosity.

A lot of Shaun’s compliments made Soleil blush. He called the mage’s hair “gorgeous” and carressed it in his fingers. Then he gazed at his eyes and called them full of life. Usually Soleil just thought they were full of tears. He could only gaze back, unable to come-up with a response to his friend’s compliments. His face felt as though it was on fire, and he paused from petting the content Mana-kitten to feel his own cheek. “...I...”

Then Shaun talked about his personality. He blinked, not certain how to feel as Shaun called him “intelligent” and “kind”. Shaun stared at him like a mother encouraging her child to love himself. Soleil nodded, his face still burning, and a bashful smile replaced the look of awe on his face. Even as he heard his friend trying hard to convince him to believe in himself, and the strain was causing him stress, Soleil nodded with understanding and continued to beam.

When Shaun finished, Soleil closed his eyes and leaned against his friend. He closed his eyes, and tried to imagine his appearance as his friend saw it. He recalled how he had been dressed the night of the ball, at the Tournament in Paris. Dressed in powder-blue and white, he had looked at himself in the mirror. He had teased his hair, and had stared at himself until he had nearly fallen asleep. Now, as he thought back to Shaun’s words, he understood that perhaps he did look good in his own body. He also remembered the all-black robes he had worn in the battle at the bar. He had looked much tougher than usual...and his eyes had a glitter that caused his entire face to shine.

“...Yes...and...thank you...” he whispered, as the kitten squirmed happily in his arms. “...I...want to believe in myself...the way...you believe in me...” He leaned his head against Shaun’s shoulder, and began to fall asleep. “...You have...always been there for me. One day, I’ll pay you back...I don’t know...what...I would do...without...” Before he could finish, he started to snore softly, clinging to his fellow Mage and finally relaxing in the dark, gentle woods. Even as he did not finish, however, Shaun knew exactly what he was saying.

Artosh Luxenia

Dominique's suggestion made the white haired professor's eyes widen in anticipation. His doctors never thought of prescribing endurance tests to train his body to handle his Arcane magic. Their hypothesis is that if one pushes their limits with it, they would suffer a harder addiction and their bodies would deteriorate even faster. His heartbeat picked up a fast pace at the excitement of the prospect of handling his own magic better. "I-I see... Thank you Dominique... Hehe, I never thought a student of mine could come up with a simple solution to my problems! Really, thank you! I'm kinda embarrassed for getting scolded though..."

The mention of food perked his positivity into a higher level as he heard the mouth watering description that the Sollum Mage has given out. A creamy broth made out of chicken and pasta mixed in with garlic roasted chicken. Just the thought of it made his stomach growl loudly, making Artosh grasp at his belly as his facr turned a bright shade of red. "O-Oh... I never realized how hungry I got... Hehe, the way you said it is just sooooo gooooood..." His sapphire eyes burned with a twinkle at his expectations for what Dominique is going to prepare. His follow up questions snapped him out of his hunger induced state. "Oh! U-Um, I'll leave it to you! Please surprise me with your cooking skills!" He snapped his fingers towards his student as he smirked at him, his teeth shining and his one eye winking. "And I don't have any allergies! I'm fond of sweet desserts but not when it comes to the main stuff. Cook it right up, chef!"

Nick Rider

The Welsh twins preformed their chant, as eerie as everything else about them. Nick was starting to feel some dread coming on. Maybe this wasn't the best idea. It looked like Soleil had been...transfixed, almost absorbed with himself. Was narcissism part of the power? Did the water thing do anything permanent? Was this a good idea in the first place? Probably not.

But alas, there wasn't a lot of time to voice his concerns as soon enough, they burst into water and combined into one. The feeling...was unlike one Nick had ever felt. He felt more...free, more flexible, more cold, more open than his human body. Then he felt as if something was striking him hard, before molding into him. He suddenly got a...thought from Lynn, as clear as a bell in his own head, as if it were his thoughts. All he was thinking was: "HOLYSHITWHATTHEHELLJUSTHAPPENED!"

"Gwnniclynn?" he internally mused, also present to Gwyn and Lynn's thoughts. "...I like it. Has a nice ring." Nick felt...taller, a bit heavier too. "Where's the hand mirror?" he asked. He desperately wanted to see his reflection.

THE QUARTERLY EXAMS

The week went by, with everyone varying between training and relaxing. Some students who were new spent more time investigating the island. Others found their quiet places and trained until they nearly collapsed. The teachers gave aid to the students who wished to train, while they themselves dealt with the paperwork that came with Ruta’s absence (and occasional presence), and Rabbit’s absence as well. Yet on the next Monday, now into the beginning of November, at 7 AM, the Quarterly Exam would begin.

Cecily was not used to speaking into an intercom, and John had the stronger voice. Thus he decided he would awaken the students while Cecily and the other teachers proctored. At 6:30 in the morning, John walked to the front office and spoke over the intercom:

“GOOD MORNING MANA ACADEMY! Today is the first day of the Quarterly Exams! We will begin the exam at 7 AM sharp! Be up and ready in front of the Main Hall! If you are not at the Main Hall for 7 AM sharp, 5 points will be deducted from your exam grade!” John was almost tempted to try and act the part of Robin Williams in “Good Morning Vietnam”, and when the impression sounded in his voice, he turned from the intercom to snicker a bit. Otherwise, he was completely serious, and headed out of the office toward the Main Hall, to wait for the students. Cecily was already there, standing and looking out for any students.

“Morning, Cecily,” he greeted.

“Good morning. Rather early for an exam, isn’t it?” she questioned, with a yawn.

“Nah. The earlier we get this done the better. Just gotta see who decides to goof and show-up late,” he answered. In a school full of teenagers, one could be almost certain that one might show-up late.

The day of the exam came swiftly.
Very little had happened following the two days of training he had watched and participated in, he simply fell into isolation once again as nobody went to talk to him.
Playing endless games of strategy, and eventually finishing the heart wrenching retro games he had in his backlog.
Mixed with gaming, he also distilled more alcohol for the coming exam, chances were that he'd need it if anything substantial happened.

There was little that Oliver remembered that wasn't useful to his life on a daily basis.
As such, he didn't remember most of his day, or his life for that matter, obscuring anything that would upset anyone else with a thick layer of temporary amnesia, only to resurface when it was truly needed. That ability of his was something that was often overlooked, and made him able to go through massive psychological punishment, however, it could be pushed too far. Which is what resulted in his depression and constant need to drink, liver failure be damned.
But that was okay, he didn't plan on living too long. Thirty was already a lot, sixty would just be a waste. So he decided he'd die at fifty anyway, earlier wouldn't be so bad.

But right now, those concerns weren't his. The one concern he had was getting up, or rather, staying up.

"... Morning already huh." Silently, he got up from his floor. Taking care not to spill his bottle of mint spirit, he looked at himself in the mirror, something he hadn't done for a long time.
He saw the eyes of a beaten man, one that had given up, and simply hoped to die. Forcing a smile, he found himself even more pathetic.

"Putain... J'arrive à peine à le planquer, hein... Je suppose que je vais devoir faire avec." He spoke to himself, watching every possible angle of his face, trying to find one that could hide his expression.
Maybe he'd manage, maybe no one would notice it. After all, people never really paid attention to him.
He figured no one would.

So he got out of his room and went to the main hall, bottle in hand, and depression in mind.

Sanja Sigck
Sanja woke from his meditative state upon hearing the announcement. He knew he would be out in public for this examination, so he took time to reinforce the locks on his book familiar before getting up. He took a shower and cleansed himself, getting dressed in clothes similar to what he had worn yesterday.

Guess it's time to go and meet my classmates now huh.
Given that they're all teenagers, I doubt that everyone will be there on time. I'll still get there early though to form good habits.

Sanja sighed and left his room. In the hall he activated his magic. Black sparks flew from the back of his boots, and then as soon as he was gone from the dorm he appeared in the Main Hall, awaiting the other students that might be there on time.

Nick Rider

Nick drifted through the lands of sleeping and waking, light sleep drifting into thin dreams into thicker nightmares into abrupt awakenings before falling back into thin sleep, and the whole cycle continuing. Nago had been meowing a lot during the night as well, which hadn't exactly added minutes to Nick's paltry amount of time spent in the land of subconscious. His dreams had gone from just walls of blackness to baseball games with Welsh twins, being shoved into a locker by someone with blonde hair, to mud splattering sidewalks, to a golden bottle in front of him, before it all culminated in tearing through the twisted covers, panting with eyes wide open, black holes of pupils being eclipsed by the large surrounding white expanse.

Eventually, he had fallen into a true state of deep sleep, until a 6:30 AM rude awakening delivered straight to Nick's sensitive eardrums by one announcer by the name of John. Nick yelped as he ended up rolling out of his bed very awkwardly, landing in a tangle of his own sheets. Cursing loudly, he stumbled to his feet after a long struggle to pull the blanket off of him. Rubbing the grogginess and sleep out of his tired eyes, he lumbered on bare feet to the bathroom, where he did the usual routine. Brushing teeth, showering, and changing into something acceptable. The shower had helped wake him up, hot water revitalizing him back out of his comatose state, turning muddy and dirty upon touching his skin, caking the drain. He always had to clean out the drain so there wouldn't be a mini flood in his shower. Without further ado, leaving Nago alone in the dorm, he headed for this so-called exam.

Nick eventually managed to stumble and fumble his way into the main hall, where a few were gathered. His stomach rumbled slightly, but he wasn't in the mood to eat. He felt out of place, like a stranger. He shuffled over to the wall and remained silent, callously observing the nearby students. So happy, so cheerful, so unprepared.
