I was going to do a RWBY-style cover drawing, the kind featured back in Volume 1. I was also considering doing individual drawings of each of the members too.

3. I need more thought-out weapons and semblances than the ones you described. Don't just state the obvious.

@Cat: Final thoughts on this thing:

1. Your characters' bios were wanting, and I wish there was a little more history to it. What is their motivation? Their individual history? Their reasons for the things they did in the past? Obviously don't spoil everything or attempt to impress us with your writing ability, but do describe them more substantially, for those things will offer us an idea of what your characters are like.

2. Same goes for your weapons. For one, why does Blue's weapons allow her to glide, despite swords generally having no capability for flight? I do admire some weapons such as the umbrella gun that suspiciously looks like an amalgam of a certain couple's weapons, but the rest seem to either be too lacking or need to be nerfed down a bit as to both not break suspension of disbelief and the rule of cool.

3. Nerf your semblances. They seem to be either too powerful or lack any drawbacks.

I'm afraid I'll have to reject them for now. My reasons are due to their lack of depth as characters, particularly since they seem to have cookie-cutter backstories. Don't feel bad about it, you can apply again soon.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Zant Nychta
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Race: [X] Human [ ] Faunus

Biography: Son of retired Hunters Tyrian and Iris Nychta, Zant was born in a small, peaceful village within the Kingdom of Mistral, and in his childhood experienced little in the way of trouble and leading a content life, shielded from the threat of the Grimm by protectors like his mother and father. In those days, he didn't think much of the danger that Huntsmen faced out in the wilds. It was an abstract idea, nothing more than a story in the newspapers and in old fantasy books, something that only happened in some far away land.

That was, until one fateful summer night, when Zant was only about 10 years old. The people of the village were quieting down after a long night of drinking and good fun, typical for the carefree times they lived in, until a bloodcurdling scream tore through the jovial atmosphere. Searching for and eventually coming upon the source, the townspeople found the bodies of several Faunus strewn about the central plaza. The Faunus residents of the town demanded an explanation from the Mistralian humans, accusing them of hate crime and withholding information when the human villagers truthfully stated they knew nothing of the incident. Fighting broke out between the two groups, and animosity, hatred, fear, and paranoia ran rampant through the streets. All knowledgeable Huntsmen and Huntresses know what such negativity breeds, and this incident was no different.

With the town in disarray, and with a murderer on the loose, it was all but too easy for a pack of Grimm to sense the dark emotions and make their way into the city unnoticed, having not been killed by negligent local Huntsmen days earlier. Without warriors to defend them, the people of the village were surely doomed. Beowolves began to slaughter civilians, regardless of race and heritage, and one had even managed to corner a swift Zant in an alleyway...

All, however, was not yet lost. Brandishing their weapons that had long been thought forgotten, Tyrian and Iris, true to their purpose as defenders of humanity, fought back against the Grimm, with Iris not hesitating to decapitate the Grimm in front of Zant with an inhumanly precise swing of her swordspear. With combined effort, and reinforcement from local Huntsmen, the Nychta pushed the Grimm out of the village entirely. Admiring their valiant defense of the innocents, Zant aspired to become a Huntsman.

Once he was of age, Zant began training in the wilds under his father's instruction, and showed much promise in Tyrian's line of work, thanks to a keen eye and natural skill in archery. This training lasted from his fourteenth birthday to his seventeenth, when he was finally sent to Haven Academy in Mistral proper. By then, his views on the world of Remnant had changed radically. Having seen the raw power of the Grimm, Zant recognizes the danger the world faces, and does not believe the long period of peace between man and nature will last.

The boy attended Haven for a single year before his parents resumed their service as Huntsmen and relocated to Vale, though Zant had few complaints with the move, despite traveling to the opposite side of the world where his homeland was. To this end, his parents enrolled him in Beacon Academy to continue his education in the ways of a Huntsmen, with Zant himself eager to follow in the footsteps of his forefathers.

Personality: Like his father, Zant is a calm and coolheaded individual who will almost always take time to think before pursuing a course of action, and thinking about the consequences of a decision. He often reflects on what he has done or on what he feels he should have done in a particular situation.

Though certainly not an idealistic person like many of the students attending Beacon, Zant is certainly capable of being sociable with teammates and classmates. He may not make many friends, but he does value strong friendships and the sense of camaraderie he shares with those willing enough to reach out to him.

Appearance:

Fair skin, light purple hair, and blue eyes.
Weighs approximately 145 pounds (65.77 kilograms) and measures up to 6 ft. (1.83 meters) in height.

COMBAT INFORMATION
Weapon: 'Nightpiercer'
Appearance: An intricately crafted black bow. Just ignore the silver skulls.
Capabilities: The Nightpiercer, in it's base form, serves the functions of a normal bow and arrow compatible with normal arrows, though Zant much prefers to utilize arrows crafted with Dust, which the weapon is equally compatible with the weapon. The black limbs of the bow are also composed partially of Dust, augmenting the power of Zant's Dust arrows, especially during the activation of his Semblance. The string from which the arrows are nocked is not material, but instead takes the form of a small beam of energy reminiscent of one's own Aura. As such, the color of the 'string' will change depending on who wields the Nightpiercer.

The bow can be decoupled through the arrow rest in it's center, effectively changing it from a pair of black curved swords. The blades are light, but require the wielder to have a healthy amount of skill and dexterity to use them effectively, as it can be easy to over swing or miss the mark without a steady hand to guide the warrior to whom the blades are entrusted.

Finally, the two blades can be recoupled into a twinblade for added reach and style points. This form is more well suited to taking on multiple enemies at once, but it's size makes it more unwieldly and undesirable in tight spaces, thus making it ideal for use in wide open areas.

Semblance: Zant's Semblance can be described as a kind of time dilation effect (or delayed inertia) around his body, allowing him to move more than three or even four times his original speed on top of making his physical strikes more powerful as a result of his increased velocity. The effects of it heighten as his Aura level decreases, making him an even harder to hit (and harder hitting) target.

However, the use of Zant's Semblance is not without drawbacks or consequences. Immediately following it's use, he will feel the full force of the inertia that his body did not experience for the duration of it's activation, leaving him vulnerable to attack for a period of time, on top of making him rather sore in his arms and legs. Knowing this, Zant uses it only sparingly, or for short bursts.
