Welp...

It appears Stormwrath fast-forward the RP to the beginning of the Vytal Tournaments.

As for me, I'm just seeing if there is any way I can find the right opportunity to bring my characters back into the RP (Hannah Blikdase and Ashley Caldwell).

Are you going to have them intercept Team JACL? They're on their way to get lunch.

Of course! And thank you again.

A few questions. How's the plot shaping up in terms of canon characters affecting our own? Do we fight against them in the tournament? Or do we ignore them outside of Cinder's coming actions?

Ashley is going to be running into team JACL and probably exchange some words or even have lunch with them. On the other hand, I'm afraid Hannah is going to be...elsewhere...

Yeah, totally have no idea that Hannah is busy in Counter-Strike style combat simulations.

LOL, should I make another post to accommodate for that or are you just gonna post? Bcoz I felt that my initial post was deliberately open-ended so another player can jump in the scene.

I'm not gonna let them go up against the canon characters. That would be basically asking the players to lose to them considering that they show up not only in 4v4, but in the later rounds as well.

I'm just about to begin work on my first post of the arc. Before I do, though, the mention of the ship from Mistral at the docks has got me thinking.

All of you who have watched RWBY's most recent episode will remember the two Mistralian flying ships that appear to be inspired by junks. I made a comment a while ago about the potential for flying triremes and quinquiremes based on this and I think that I've just figured out how their propulsion would work.

Both triremes and quinquiremes had three banks of oars on either side (The names are somewhat confusing; they refer not to the number of banks of oars but instead to the number of files of oarsmen. A trireme simply had one man to each oar, while the quinquireme is most commonly thought to have had two to each of the oars in the top two banks and one to each of those in the bottom bank.); my proposal is these oars be joined by cloth, forming three giant, flexible surfaces, essentially massive horizontal sails, on either side of the ship. Connected via chain drive to a Dust-powered generator (Because what flying ship needs rowers?), the oars would then move up and down in sequence to create a rippling effect, essentially allowing the ship to swim through the air. Obviously, just as with the junks in the episode, the hull of the ship would have to be incredibly lightweight - perhaps the soil in which the trees to be cut down for timber for the ships was sown with powdered Air Dust, which the trees then absorbed through their roots.

Thoughts on this?

Gotcha. Losing can be fun too! So long as it's a beautiful fight.

Things will proceed at the same pace as canon then? And Cinder's scheme too?

You can keep your post the way as it is, all what I'm going to do is introduce Ashley via her going to get a couple cups of coffee from one of the stands at the fairgrounds. Similar to what I said in my previous post, Hannah is busy elsewhere; however, seriously speaking this time, I'm going to be integrating an unusual idea into my post that would shed some light upon what Hannah does to not only train her clones, but also test their resolve as individual beings. This idea that I'm about to explain may sound strange and complicated at first, but I can answer questions regarding any mistakes that I may leave behind in this following idea.

As a militaristic character, Hannah is like that average offensive unit that has no special strengths or weaknesses; however, the one thing that does compensate for Hannah's average stats (other than being highly versatile and adaptable) is her cloning semblance. If you have seen Hannah's OC character sheet, then you know that her clones have no aura (making them easily killable), and she can only spawn a total of 20 clones (whom can act autonomously while only draining 2% of Hannah's aura every time she spawns a clone, or she can get back that 2% aura via 'decommissioning' her clones if they are healthy and alive). While having this much manpower at one's disposal may be overpowered at first, Hannah's clones cannot act as individuals, rather her clones always stay together even when left leaderless and hold their ground (which is suicide in a losing fight), and they depend on commands being given by Hannah (whom is their one and only commander).

Plus, considering that Hannah is the only one that can command her clones (as her clones do not speak or understand English very well), anyone with sharp hearing can tell the difference between the real Hannah and a clone (the former is speaking perfect English with varying Germanic accents, while the latter is speaking complete German, Danish, or Dutch). Subsequently, Faunus characters and/or observative individuals (like Jaune) can quickly figure out whom is the real Hannah and then single her out in order to leave her clones leaderless and vulnerable (as they can act on their own even if the real Hannah Blikdase is knocked unconscious or dead). With all this information in mind, you may be wondering as to why I'm openly revealing such weaknesses in Hannah's semblance, but this is where the idea for my post comes to mind.

Ever since Hannah had became friends with Ashley, one thing that Ashley (as a first year student along with Hannah at the time) was that she wanted to encourage Hannah's clones to act by themselves and obtain their own personalities. On the other hand, when Hannah got whim of what Ashley was doing, being the snobbish prick that Hannah was back then as a first year student, it was not uncommon for Hannah and Ashley to bud heads over the idea of having Hannah allow her clones to be their individuals; however, Hannah did argue - and argued successfully at the time - that it is impossible to give her clones unique personalities, considering that her clones had no memory to any previous combat experiences before being 'decommissioned' after every fight. Later on, as Hannah and Ashley became second year students and get themselves involved in more difficult missions, Hannah realised that whenever she gave some of her clones a nickname or a callsign along with a basic mental list of instructions, she eventually went against her argument and decided to secretly test her clones' capabilities to act as individual leaders.

Not surprisingly, Ashley found out about Hannah's special testing upon her clones, and decided to give her militaristic girlfriend some help...which had previously been ignored back in the first year. Fast-forward to the Vytal Festival, Hannah had been responsible for setting up the live combat simulations for her clones, while Ashley on the other hand is responsible for getting her the material and equipment to conduct such elaborate testing (via by secretly using her family's wealth and connections with her two older sisters, whom are back at home in Atlas). Though with the Vytal Festival in motion, it is becoming too difficult to conduct such specialised testing due to financial constraints and time (for obvious reasons), but for the sake of training and in order to enhance Hannah's cloning semblance, Hannah decided that it would be best to put her clones in an arena combat simulation involving four teams (red, blue, green, and yellow) and special situations (e.g. Hostages, Bombsites, Limited Weaponry, and etc)...think of it like SMii7Y's Twitter Edition Strat Roulette (see his videos on youtube if you want to know what I mean).

I'm planning on making my post go according to all this information provided above, and while introducing Ashley in my post is easy, introducing Hannah is going to be complicated. I will be making Ashley somewhat evasive to team JACL's question in regards to Hannah's activities, since not only will team JACL have an idea as to how Hannah is training, but it would also destroy the secrecy that Hannah enforced upon such experimental training for her semblance. Though if you wish (and I'll openly accommodate for this if so), you can have team JACL get whim of what Hannah is doing via by following Ashley and subsequently watching such experimental training be carried out (that is if team JACL does not get caught in the process).

You may need a plan for your characters to gain transcripts for the tournament if they want. After all, they'll need to prove that they're a legitimate student team and not just a bunch of friends who just decided to form one on that very day.

Apologies; I've been somewhat focussed recently on planning within my own team, actually, which perhaps explains my failure to notice your request. Since I already did a fair bit with that post, I don't think that there's too much lost with a simple deletion of the end section; Lucius Aurelius, let's say, was just visiting the area at a different point in time.

I wasn't sure if I was supposed to create just the one character or a whole team, so if I need to make a team that won't be a problem.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Sterling Sylvan
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Race: [X] Human [ ] Faunus
Biography: Born to the affluent Sylvan family of Atlas, Sterling lived an opulent life. He was one of many children, 6 in total, 4th born but the 3rd and last son. Sterling and his family were close, and he grew up comfortable and happy. He showed great aptitude in combat, and was able to persuade his parents to let him pursue a career as a huntsman, though instead of attending a combat school he was tutored in private, though the baby of the bunch, Luna, would follow in his footsteps and would join him in being tutored. Sterling was not the first huntsman in the family, it was in fact common for a Sylvan or two to become huntsmen in any generation, most would then go on to serve Sylcorp, the family's business conglomerate, something Sterling is satisfied with, though he does hope to do more than just protect Sylcorp.

After years of training, Sterling was accepted into Atlas Academy, but declined to attend and instead went to school in Vale. This move was a protest of Atlas Academy's connection to the military, which he strongly opposed. He selected Vale, however, out of pragmatism, he found it to be the least likely of the other kingdoms to cause a culture shock.
Personality: Sterling is intelligent and educated, preferring to use cunning over brute force. As such, he tends to be somewhat cautious, preferring to stop and think things through rather than rush in. Despite this, he is capable of improvising if plans go awry, and can let his talent and skill go to his, leading to mistakes. Around his friends he is energetic and somewhat goofy, his true self, but among strangers he dons a cooler persona, more serious and reserved.
Appearance: Sterling is a little on the short side, standing at 5'8, and has an athletic build. He has brown hair, with streaks of blond making it look lighter, and light blue eyes. He usually wears a dress shirt and vest with black slacks out out uniform, and always wears a silver necklace with a black diamond charm, the setting being surrounded by points, giving it the look of a star.
Image

COMBAT INFORMATION
Weapon: Heartseeker
Appearance:A bearded axe.

Capabilities: Obviously able to function as an axe, with a short stabbing/hooking blade opposite the axe blade. At the top of the axe is a muzzle, with the handle housing a shotgun, which fires dust fragments at a high velocity. The fragments are loaded in by unscrewing the bottom of the handle and loading dust crystals in, which are then ground into fragments by cocking the foregrip, pulling it back to the backgrip. It can fire 60 shots before being depleted, but can fire multiple types of dust simultaneously.

Semblance: Sterling's semblance is gravity manipulation. He is able to increase or decrease the pull of gravity on a given object. The more mass the object has, or the greater the change in gravity, the more taxing the semblance is. He uses this usually in two ways, one is to decrease the pull on him, allowing him to jump incredible distances and heights and even safely descend from lethal heights. The other is to alter the pull on a target or small, tight group, few enemies being prepared to suddenly float off the ground or feel a crushing weight. However, the more gravity is manipulated, the more focus it demands of Sterling, up to the point of forcing him to be still or even fall unconscious. He can use his semblance for more flashy tactics though, such as launching objects at a target or stopping something from hitting him or a teammate.

OOC INFORMATION

Well, no. You have to look for other players who have characters not currently in a team and form it with those characters. Note that they have to be in a group of four to be considered a team.

Somehow I feel like my characters are gonna get ripped off for hundreds of Lien for weapons of terrible build that are incredibly expensive. :P

Eh, I'll take my chances.
