Former Citizens of the Nimbus System wrote:Lucius Aurelius believes in Mistralian polytheism, which is essentially identical to Roman polytheism (belief in and acceptance of all gods so long as their worship does not threaten public order or exclude other gods, worship of gods on a quid pro quo basis and further worship of various individual, household and local guardian deities); the major difference is a belief that one's Semblance is a gift from a particular deity. Lucius Aurelius particularly favours Invidia as goddess of retributive justice, Pietas as goddess and manifestation of filial piety (among other forms of piety) and Theia as goddess of sight and radiance (and from whom Lucius Aurelius believes he has received his Semblance).

Could we rule that blood sacrifice is outlawed in Vale? I feel that that would create some interesting cultural tension.

I'd guess that it'd attract Grimm, so it'd be outlawed on *that* principle alone, let alone the other issues with blood sacrifice, especially in as advanced (technologically) cultures as we've seen.

Actually, I've just realised something: Roman sacrificial practices are already practically tailored to reduction of negative emotion! First of all, the animal to be sacrificed was meant to be completely calm throughout the ceremony; any struggling was seen as a bad omen and meant that the entire thing had to be restarted. The animal was also stunned before death - to the back of the head, not the front, so that the victim would not see the blow before it hit. Finally, a flute would be played throughout to drown out unwanted noise, which would also result in the ceremony having to be restarted due to it being a bad portent. All of these things would have the effect of making the animal in the case of the first two and general atmosphere in the case of the last one calmer, meaning that an in-universe explanation of them being there precisely to prevent Grimm from being attracted would make perfect sense.

From what I can tell, activity varies across the thread. There are several different subplots, events and conversations being roleplayed between different users, each of which most frequently proceeds at the pace of the least active user. I, for example, have waited a week for a response to my penultimate post; Legatia and Kuhlfros, meanwhile, have recently been on something of a roll - there were three posts of theirs cumulatively made, for example, on the 9th. According to Stormwrath we are at a bit of a low point in activity regardless and things should speed up relatively soon.

Don't worry, it's in the OP. Just copy the code there and you'll be all set. Just fill in the required fields. :)

I guess Adan (If I saw the Aiden name, I would have gone with a different name) will have to wait for the next event before he does anything. Pretty much knew that was coming, pretty common when you join while pretty much everyone is already scenes. In other news, I do have character ideas in case I end up having to run my own full team, using some random generators so that all the semblances and styles are custom built for each other.

Yeah, a name based one has a few thousands possibilties, things ranging from Friction Manipulation to Trails (Can follow paths left by those with souls for weeks without any pyhsical indication) and "Strings" (Named after erfworld, can see the connections between people, and nearby things). Course, the generator calls em something else, those are just my names for em

I know - it's ultimately just to create a bit of tension for Lucius Aurelius. As you know, he puts particular emphasis on upholding his cultural values and traditions, including honouring the Mistralian gods, something which he would, under this ban, be unable to fully do; at the same time, however, staying in Vale and completing his time at Beacon Academy is imperative to taking revenge on his father's killers, an objective which he is determined above all else to fulfil.

Name: Coal Marks
Age: 16
Sex: Male
Height: 6 ft, 2 inches
Race: Human

Biography: Coal was born in Atlas. His life was relatively interesting, and much expected of him. His parents immigrated from Vale, who came from a long line of Knight like warriors. His Grandfather a renowned fighter in the Great War, know for saving his Platoon by using a variety of tricks, treacherous tactics, and sheer brilliance to kill, injure, or capture an entire Minstrel Battalion. Ever since then, his family was famous. Though the people before his Grand Father did great multitudes of things, this was the most seen and heard.

Training from the age of 6, he was determined to life up to the expectations given to him. Training from dawn to dust. He was also rather open, and when it came to making friends, he had a fairly good time of doing it. Human, or Fanus. He'd go to the poor districts and play with the Fanus children, though it wasn't exactly approved of by a great many people close to his parents. They tried to convince the child to stop playing with the ‘trash’ and the ‘rodents’ but instead, his parents simply cut those people off.

In his youth, he had one particular relationship with his only sibling. His sister named Autumn. She was of a cold nature, which might think one to believe they had a off relationship, but it wasn't the case. His older sister of two years had always a close relationship, and a protective one of her little Brother. Not that he needed it, but people were weary of being aggressive to the younger out of fear of the older ones wrath. Two years earlier, she left for Vale's academy. They kept contact throughout the time there, but one day, she stopped responding to her brother's messages. Not just his, but the Family in general. The School contacted, they demanded here whereabouts. She had disappeared. Where, why, or even exactly when were unknown.

The Family, especially Coal was devastated. What had happened to their older child, the Autum so close to Coal? Her friends attempted to help, and found out she wendsday out into the wilderness of Vale. No one knew why. Going after his Daughter, Coal's father tried tracking down his daughter, but it took him to the most dangerous areas of Remanent. The fights grew tougher, longer, deadlier. The beasts bigger and more numerous. Soon, he stopped reporting back, and when ships were sent to find him, they only brought back part of a corpse.

A father killed, and a sister missing. This drove Coal into training, trying to find a way to keep his mind off the losses. Unfortunately, it drove his mother to drinking, and she went on a down hill spiral.

He had gained through the years of training an acrobatic style, but also hard hitting. He was very limber, and made sure through his time in Atlas to remember never to grow lax on that aspect of his training. He spent years at other fighting schools, and his own personal traing.

After years of training, he went to Vale to become a Hunter. Why? Well, mostly to live up to his expectations. Or, that's what most people thought. He felt his sister wasn't dead. He knew it in his gut she was still alive. He was going to rise above his family's past actions and accomplishments and find his sister.

Personality: He is very outgoing, kind, and cracks a lot of jokes. He though had a dark side, willing to kill if it suits the greater good. Or if he is genuinely enraged, which is hard to do. Also unduly obsessive when it comes to certain things like his wanting to find his Sister. He finds it hard to be honest with himself at times, and seeing what his emotions were, when it was so easy to see others. He could be loudest and most obnoxious in a room, but at other times be silent with readings of death vibrating off him. He is organized in somethings, but absolutely cluttered in others. A booming voice when needed to be, and fairly deep. His voice sounded more his age when with friends, but when going about daily life, it was deep, giving many people the impression he was older than he actually was.

Appearance: His Apperence is of Black skin, with piercing blue eyes. He is slim, but muscular. He facial features are a maturing, handsome look. However still retains some of his youthfulness. His hair resembles John’s a little, however his hair is dark brown. Normally just wears a pair of dark jeans and a black t-shirt. He said he didn't like cloths that he regarded as too attention seeking. He needed to shave twice a week, or would begin to noticeably start growing hair. He has no idea what a beard or mustache would look like on him considering he sister and mother we're hell bent on him to keep shaving, and continued so out of habit.

Combat Information:

Weapons: His weapons are a Crusader resembling shield and sword, however the sword doubles as a Shotgun and a sniper Rifle. The Sword's name is Red Redeemer. The Red representing the blood shed by his Ancestors, enemy and their own. Forged using Ancient techniques only known to his family, the Metal is very strong, and the source would have to be Extremely powerful to even dent the blade. It is powerful in itself, but the Shotgun continues to fire Red Dust, symbolized as a fire shotgun, burning at the armored foes, and utterly disintegrating the un armored foe. The Sniper has a distance of 1,500 yards. The scope uses Atlas technology to aim, and adjusted as required of the situation. It uses regular .50 caliber, or dust bullets according to the situation.

Appearance: Looks like a Crusader knight, but the armor though very protective, is light allowing him to move at fast pace. Also the there is no helmet. Red outlines on his armor, with armor covering light metal, but very strong. It's metal also a secret to the Marks family. His family seal, a crimson cross, decorated the armor. On the hilt of the sword, it says in scribbling 'Deus Vult.' God wills it.

Capability: Very fast paced fighter striking hard and fast with the ability to switch shotgun with sword mid swing. He can run quickly on walls, and uses his shield to bash. He's very analyzing, making the ability to analyze things at a moments notice and come up with ways to react. No stranger to fighting Grim, he tends to get sadistic when playing with Grim. Studying the human body, he also knows where best to hit his opponent, but unfortunately, most those techniques he had devised, most after his father's death, were excruciatingly painful, many lethal, and would only ethically be used in rare situations. He may not care about the ethics part however.

Semblance: His Semblance is Analysis, being able to process things is also higher . Be it different languages, Battle situations, or the perfect comeback. He's ability allows him to read peoples moods, though not their thoughts. He plan forming ability is also above par, and tends to disregard his emotions when using it. It makes it easier when he has cruel moments of taunting others, or crushing their spirits. A neutral face was the best one to deliver that kind of judgment. He used this tactic abundantly against School bullies.

OOC information:

RP Activity: I RPd in Aftermath and 1810 expansion.

RP Example: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=401550

Stuff like that I suppose.

Did you read the rules: I did read the rule. That seems kind of important.

Assuming that the above is accepted (I have a feeling that some reformatting and expansion might be needed), we now have the ability to form a new team (the members of which would be Adan Lazuli, Clover Nocciola, Coal Marks and Lucius Aurelius Firmus)! I suggest that we decide collectively on a leader and then brainstorm name ideas so that it can be officially formed by the start of the second semester.

Former Citizens of the Nimbus System wrote:Assuming that the above is accepted (I have a feeling that some reformatting and expansion might be needed), we now have the ability to form a new team (the members of which would be Adan Lazuli, Clover Nocciola, Coal Marks and Lucius Aurelius Firmus)! I suggest that we decide collectively on a leader and then brainstorm name ideas so that it can be officially formed by the start of the second semester.

Well, you have a Tonfa/Battle Rifle Battle Maid that dazes opponents wit distorted sound.

A Grecco-Roman style guy with a Flail. Sling-Staff, and Sword that can alter the opacity of objects, making them see through, or blocking light from moving through them.

A Rich kid from a weapons family with a Short-Sword Pistol/Glaive Carbine that can create objects of various strengths and sizes from crystal, eventually extending to dust and possibly metal given enough time.

Finally, you have a sort of Jaun/Yang/Ruby character with a Shield, and Sword/Shotgun/Sniper Rifle that is extremely agile.

You also cover a three ages, one is 16, two are 17, and one is 18.

You have the maid that comes from a long line of combat servants, and was told to study by his master, this (from the bio), being his main motivation.

Then you have someone who is motivated by vengeance, justice, and loss in equal measures.

Next is someone that is motivated by A) Living up to the hunters of family past, B) Setting himself apart from his current family, and C) Protecting humanity from the Grimm.

Finally, you have someone wanting to live up the family name of the Great War, and proving himself to be as capable as his predecessors, and currently hasn't, in the words of the bio itself, found his purpose or place in the world, simply becoming a hunter because it's what the family wants.

From those motivations alone, that puts Lucius Aurelius Firmus and Adan Lazuli tied for the Leader position as they have deep, personal motivations that put them firmly into the hunter mindset.

After that, I'd have to say Clover Nocciola due tot he fact that he seems to know what he wants, where Coal Marks (In last) still hasn't truly found his purpose.

Now, that gives up an A/L, C/M, C/N, and L/A/F to work with for a team name, and there a TON of possibilities, unfortunately, most I can think of off the top of my head match colors, though you could do LAMN "Laminated" which invokes images of sheens, but that's not a color, and a bit of a stretch from LAMN.
