I'll bite and I'll try.

Faction: Uhulis League
Leader: (acting) Regent Raganhar Vonhake, The Eternal Emperor of Mankind
Member Bodies: Humans, Ogryn, Astartes
General Location: Segmentum Tempestus, Uhulis Sector
Worlds: 9
Notable Locations:
Krieg - The world of Krieg, having had over two millennia to recover from the nuclear civil war that had ravaged its surface in 433.M40, now forms one of the core worlds of the Uhulis League, a successor state to the Imperium of Man. While background radiation remains above standard levels still, it is no longer lethal to human life. Regardless, the world remains dependent on food shipments from other planets, as still enough poison lingers in the soil to ruin any harvest not made from meticulously cleansed ground. Notable for the Free Korps of Krieg, who still adhere to the customs of past millennia and still don their gas mask to march for Humanity and its God whereever they may find His followers remaining. Among its populace, the Light of the Emperor has worked wonders for morale - service to Him is no longer perceived as penance-debt. What drives these men and women now is the honest desire to preserve, and restore His legacy.

Pintax - The second world of the Uhulis League, an ages-old and venerable Manufactorium World that once provided tens of millions of fresh recruits to the Hammer of the Emperor, though no longer as the massive industrial power behind the Imperium has since been lost. As the most developed world of the League, it is its industrial heart and now produces the equipment necessary to supply the Free Korps and the Navy.

Temaxia - Reclaimed from the Orks 897.M42 and finally declared clean of Greenskins in 983.M42, the former Forge World was the first offensive action undertaken by the Uhulis League and became something of a symbol for the League as the first major victory scored in the sector by humanity after the end of His Imperium. Unfortunately, very few things remained intact of the legacy of the Adeptus Mechanicus after millennia of having been home to Orkoid life in constant warfare with itself. Regardless, vast fields of scrap metal litter the surface and tunnels and remains closely guarded by a League that still clings to the hope of one day recovering intact technology that may be turned against the enemies of Man.

Velgagrad - Reclaimed from the Orks 908.M42 and declared purged of all Orkoid lifeforms in 998.M42, the former Fortress World of Velgagrad is a largely undeveloped world, its caches of military equipment having long been plundered and home to a small, but steadily growing population of humans that works to extract what raw materials remain in the ground to fuel the League's military machine.

History & Description: The Uhulis League has its roots in the immediate aftermath of the fracture of the Imperium. Though the Astronomicon remained visible, the breakdown of order as petty warlords declared independence all across the galaxy in the aftermath of the Emperor's ascension came as something of a shock to the Uhulis Sector - with little to no Army or Navy presence save for the obligatory planetary defense units that were meant to hold off an enemy until reinforcements could arrive, the few planets that had survived in the Sector quickly banded together under the Uhulis League, a makeshift defensive pact that promised any world under assault would receive aid from the other worlds, even if that meant sending their own planetary defense units into the grinder.
More through luck than anything else, it should be noted, did the League not face any major attacks from envious, hostile powers in the starting years until it had rebuilt its core army that had been so suddenly lost in the great conflagration.

Following a restructuring from a pure defensive pact between worlds into a confederation of planets with similar aimsand goals, the League has slowly begun to expand across the Sector, reclaiming territory long considered lost and not worth the expense of retaking until now. Notably, it still considers itself a transitional interim government meant to bridge the gap until the next Imperium arises, though much of this is due to the sentiment of the population of Krieg.

Currently, the League finds itself embroiled in something of a border war with various pretender warlords from the Orpheus Sector and faces the growing problem of Ork pirates intruding from the Forsarr Sector

Military: 26 Million Guardsmen (12 Krieg, 4 Pintax, 10 Misc.); 14 capital ships of varying type, along with 243 smaller vessels, around a quarter of which are actually repurposed merchant vessels

made a draft

Faction: The Polarian Alliance of Systems
Leader:
Member Bodies: Humans
General Location: Border of the Segmentum Ultima, Solana Sector
Worlds: 11

Notable Locations: Polaris itself.
Aridia, a minor forge world of the Mechanicum which produces the wargear necessary to arm the armies of Polaris. The two worlds have a history going back millennia, as Aridia has provided equipment for newly-drafted Polarian Imperial Guard regiments since the first Polarian regiment was drafted.
Rilgar, agri-world and primary source of food shipments for both Polaris and Aridia.
Boldan, civilized world, provides a minor part of the soldiers produced by the Alliance.

History & Description: Polaris was once a Fortress World of the Imperium, and this can be seen in its millennia-old massive trench lines, in the giant defensive complexes that can be seen from orbit, and in the heavy-duty orbital defenses that dot the surface, defenses that date back to the golden age of the Imperium. With the collapse of the Imperium of Man and the sudden absence of a greater organization to protect humanity from lawless raiders and worse, and with a great many of its sons and daughters spread wide across the galaxy on various crusades with the Imperial Guard, Polaris was defenceless, its only safeguard the meagre planetary defense forces left by Imperial mandate. Hastily forming an alliance of mutual defense with other surviving worlds in the sector, the Fortress World set rapidly to work at raising new armies to replace those it had lost.

Though largely undefended while it raised new armies, Polaris was blessed by the Emperor and no major threat appeared while it rebuilt its forces. These days, Polaris (and the alliance it is part of) pumps out regiment after regiment of well-drilled and courageous Guardsmen wearing their distinctive blue uniforms to be used in reclaiming and defending lost territory and worlds in the sector. Polarian Regiments are renowned among those who know of them as experts at trench warfare, and their morale and devotion are second to none. It is a point of pride for the Polarians to say that their men will face any horror the galaxy can throw at them without breaking, though in practice this claim's truthfulness is dubious.
Military: Approx. 34 million men in total, the vast majority of which are Polarian. A fleet of 17 capital ships, with 284 escorts of various sizes, many of these escorts being former merchantmen with torpedo tubes and lance batteries hastily strapped to them.

Not finished yet, but hope it is in the general ballpark?

Faction: Astral Snakes
Leader: Chapter Master Augustus Flavius Sabinus.
Member Bodies: Space Marines, Adeptus Mechanicus successors, Humans.
General Location: Eastern Fringe

Worlds: 1 system with 7 worlds and 6 moons. Total System Population around 11 billion. Not all planets inhabitable, more info to come.

Notable Locations: (Insert name) is the System Capital and Space Marine Homeworld it is a moon that orbits (Insert Name). Chalex Primaris is a forge world with the major industry, base of the titans and the largest planet by both size and population. The forge world has 2 moons, one is a mining colony the other a pleasure world. (Insert Name) Agri world. (Insert Name) Gas giant, main source of fuel in the system. (Insert Name) Feral Death world, main training base of the Marines and Storm Troopers, little in the way of human population. This world has one moon which is the Space Marine Homeworld.

History & Description: As the Imperium of Man disintegrated many petty Empires have spring up ruled by those with the intent and power to take control. The Chapter Master of the Astral Snakes at the time had been one such individual. With the Imperium disintegrating he and the chapter council had decided that to protect their people on their homeworld the Chalex system needed to come under their control least those in control of the other planets act first. In a coup the Astral Snakes launched swift strikes taking out the governors and their governments of the other inhabited worlds in the system as well as anybody else likely to oppose their actions. Most of the Ecclesiarchy was also put to the sword. Most of the ordinary people of the Chalex system had no love for their ruling classes and widely supported the actions of the Astral Snakes seeing them as something that could liberate them and protect them in this new dark age.

And this the Astral Snakes have largely done, They have spent most of the time fortifying and ensuring that the system and the wider sector is relatively safe. Whilst they don't directly control the wider sector the other less powerful worlds and systems have mostly done deals with the chapter giving them access to raw materials and other resources in return for their protection. Occasionally the chapter will send out an expeditionary fleet to survey the surrounding sectors provide an opportunity for staying battle hardened, blooding Neophytes and to search for relics, powerful items and lost technologies.

Sabinus rules as a benevolent dictator with the chapter council serving as his government and has ruled for just over 200 years. It is on his initiative that the chapter has been expanded towards legion size. This is partly in seeking past glories of the Space Marines pre Heresy and partly with no seed tithe the chapter has found itself with the resources to gradually expand in size.

The chapter has had no interest in the goings on in the wider galaxy, that is until current events overtake them...

Military:6200 space marines, 40,000 Skitarii and 12 titans of various sizes, Storm Troopers 195,000, Regular Army 18,000,000 million. Militia and conscription for planetary defence.

Fleet Warp capable: 1 Ark Mechanicus, 3 Mech cruisers, 3 battle barges, 11 strike cruisers, 28 Space Marine Escorts. 1 Battleship, 1 Grand cruiser, 3 battle cruisers, 7 cruisers, 9 light cruisers, 43 escorts, 170 other smaller ships from corvettes to transports.

System defence ships/platforms, non warp capable: Assortment of orbital defence platforms and ports, main starport over system forge world, important starport over Space Marine homeworld. 2 Ironclads, 5 Cruisers, 18 escorts, 15 Defence Monitors.

This'll be to provide a motive for nations in the IC.
Faction: WAAAGH!! Rehab
Leader: Boss Teekay Rehab, "the dog of Athos"
Member Bodies: orks
General Location: Somewhere in Segmentum Solar
Worlds: 0
Notable Locations: Da Ruggotta Katch'em All, mighty fleet of Boss Rehab
History & Description: The Tyranids were among the greatest threats to the Imperium during its later years, their innumerable swarms plaguing the galaxy thrice before they were defeated in the Time of Ending. However, even after their defeat the Tyranids persisted as hundreds of splinter fleets that wreaked havoc in the post-Imperial galaxy. Even though all forces were completely exhausted after the first years of M42 somebody still had to face these voracious hordes. Space marines, the remnants of the Adepta Sororitas, what was left of the Imperial Navy, and whatever other altruistic organizations still existed chased the splinters, dying to the man to defeat the Tyranid menace and stop it from rooting itself in the galaxy.

Of course, the orks didn't hunt Tyranids for good faith. They just thought Tyranids tasted good. Enter WAAAGH!! Rehab, a mob of greenskins with an almost single-minded desire to destroy the Tyranid fleet known to them as "da Kloud". In their quest they have developed a culture that incorporates the Tyranids into every aspect of their society: their clothing, their currency based on both teef and Tyranid parts, and their enslaved Tyranid pets.

A recent development was when da Kloud exploited a warp storm to gain a lead on da Ruggotta in Segmentum Solar. To make up for lost time Boss Rehab took a direct route through the warp- and through the Sol System, a once-thought impregnable area made unreachable by the wall of light created by the brightness of the Astronomicon. Somehow an ork fleet had made it in and out this barrier, escaping with information on the most coveted location in the galaxy, all the while being unconcerned about anything but catching up to a splinter fleet.
Military: Exact numbers are unknown due to WAAAGH!! Rehab's abysmal record-keeping, but it's estimated that there are some 1 billion orks in da Ruggotta, spread between 4,000 ships ranging from small escorts to massive battlekroozers. Their smaller ships, strangely enough, have disproportionately large crews, as these vessels are more likely to catch up to da Kloud and get in trouble than larger ships.
