He opened his menu and went to the party icon, but noticed that there was a new item in his inventory. Summon Holly. What was this for? It definitely didn't sound like any regular summon. Oh! Maybe Holly is like a tutorial guide! Anders thought that he should ask Sayuri about it.

"Before we begin, did you happen to have just recieved an item that allows you summon 'Holly'?"

"I have little idea." Sayuri said as she brought up her own inventory. "Think you wanna give it a try?"

With that, Sayuri tapped on her equipment, replacing her tunic with normal leather armour, and placing a cloak over her head, covering her hair and features.

"While you're at it, I'm going to look at the Quest Board. Seems like there's something for us to do here, if we want to level up."

Anders looked again at the strange new item in his inventory. "Not now. I assume this Holly serves as this game's guide. Perhaps if we ever run into some trouble. As for the quest, there's no better time to get started"

He followed Sayuri to the Quest Board and maneuvered through the crowd of players surrounding it to catch a glimpse of his very first quest. Into the Forest. Sounds like a simple quest to start off on. Kill some wildlife, save some hunters, acquire loot. Once Sayuri says she's ready to go, they'll be off.

Access Granted. Welcome to E.L.F. Online!

Arian Geneva opened her eyes. She saw nothing but white void. She tilted her head side to side, and realized she was floating within the void somehow.

Movement and sensory calibration initiated.

Upon hearing this, she closed her eyes, slowly.

Arian had logged in to E.L.F. Online, she opened her eyes. Her appearance from real life to in-game had changed drastically. She looked at her hands, they were deathly pale with a tinge of purple. That was then she realized she was a Drow, or a dark elf. As she surveyed the beautiful grassland scenery, she absently brushed a stand of her silver hair away from her face. She took a deep breath.

She waved her hand in a seemingly downward motion. She saw a news announcement, it read:

CEO Warren Burgress makes announcement at Area 1 plaza

"I was late apparently to the main show." Arian thought loudly.

She clicked the play button and immersed herself to to the video announcement. The speech was brief, she had the general idea of what the game is like. As soon as she finished, she eyed a solitary, low-level mob. She checked herself for some weapons, eventually finding herself a sheathed sword on her waist. She drew her weapon, a black short sword.

Sweet, huh she thought. I'll see what this weapon can do. Starting with that thing over there. she said as she points the blade to the mob, a boar specifically.

If she were to heck the status of the monster, she would see it was only a Level One boar. That didn't mean it still didn't look fierce though. When Arian points her blade at it, the boar react suddenly, automatically triggering it's event protocols. The boar, seemingly angry charges directly at Arian, aiming to impale her on its thick fierce tusks.

Kaiisha, or rather Neyla rolled her eyes, clearly not impressed. She choose to activate her Wrath of Nature skill, which sent her lunging at one of the wolves in much the same way as a tiger. This only did half the damage she expected it to do, but one of the canines were firmly pinned under her and struggling to escape. Looking back at her team across her body, she yelled "I got one! quickly, kill it!"

Kaito was content with his final appearance, despite the fact that it copied Super Mario Bros 3. He noticed an item in his inventory and equipped it, which summoned.... A person? After this "person" introduced themselves, Kaito asked them how effective grinding and solo-ing was and the answers shocked him. "In....effective?!" And with that he had noticed the quest board. "Looks like I'll have to get a party... Great, the one thing I'm shit at when it comes to MMORPGs... Socialising..."

Sayuri studied the quest board. Typical MMORPG quests and starters, a simple rescue mission, although the NPCs would probably be sitting by a corner, immobilised by the game until they complete the objectives.

"Alright Nyordr, let's go!"

Entering a clearing, Sayuri kept her composure as she noticed the group of wolves glaring and snarling at them. Unsheating a katana, she held it with two hands in a pose of experience and finesse.

"Seems like we have our first catch of the day. Time your attacks well and we can dodge all of them! Come on, let's go!!"

After trying to get a party, it was clear that Kaito wasn't good at THAT. So he decided to try this first quest alone. He walked up to the quest board and entered said quest and into the forest he went...

Kaito found himself in a forest, as expected. There weren't many players here yet so he'd have to be quick in order to avoid engaging in PVP. Unsheathing his two katanas, Kaito slaughtered a Boar and obtained bacon. "This'll be useful... When I upgrade the cooking stat..." Of course this bacon gained him attention, not from EpicMealTime but from wolves. The wolves began to jump at him, this was the action that the game promised. Kaito had begun to spin around like a tornado which managed to hold the wolves back for a bit, this however had tired him out and left him defenseless. "Shit!"

Erik knew from experience that the best way to find a party and potential guild mates would be out on quest. Most people might get stuck in one are and offering help was a good way to make allies. He accepted the quest that was on the board and walked into the forest.

He noticed a few players on the way but decided not to go to them unless they needed assistance. As if on queue he noticed a player fighting off some wolves and he wasn't doing too bad, that is until he used a spin attack and tired himself out. Erik saw that the wolves were going to take full advantage of the player's stunned moment so he ran over, drawing one of his katanas on the way and slicing through the wolf that was about to attack the boy. Erik sheath his blade and turned to check on the player, still keeping track of any remaining wolves that would be behind him.

"Are you alright?" He asked the player.
I believe that madness can find more madness, and that every ounce of madness has a spark of truth. And truth, as you know, has a way of depressing people who don't want to find it.

No one is 100% honest... We all keep 20% of the truth from the world, to protect ourselves & sometimes others.

Hearing Neyla shout, she throws the hook towards the pinned wolf, hitting it, then pulling it back, preparing for another shot. "They didn't joke when they were saying we had to work together..."

With their objective set, the duo made their way to the forest. All the way there, Anders faintly whistled the theme of "Into the Woods" as the Darkwood Forest drew nearer and nearer. Once they entered, Anders almost felt the change of scenery, shifting from a safe zone to a hostile one. Soon enough, they found themselves a pack of hungry wolves snarling at them.

Sayuri drew her sword, and Anders followed suit, drawing his rapier out of its sheath. The little sunlight that broke through the canopy sent a glimmer racing down the sleek blade. He held it in front of him in a proper fencing stance, the tip of the rapier pointing towards the ravenous wolves.

He heard his partner say that they need to time their attacks, and he replied, "Right! Let's do this!". In a single bound, Anders did a forward leap towards a wolf and lunged out to stab the beast.

"No they were not." she stated, beginning to power up her Meteor Storm skill. "Draw the weakened ones to me. I will kill them all at once." she declared, slowly becoming encased in a fiery aura. Kaisha did not expect to kill all of them, but enough would give then an edge, even if it were only one or two of them. She checked her HP, finding a quarter of it was gone. She finally finished her preperations for the skill.

Jason not finding a party in time, decides to go it alone at least for now. Approaching the wolves, they viciously attack him, with him only barely fending them off. It was lucky that there were other players there, or he would have been a goner for sure. The wolves, sensing they were outmatched run into the woods leaving the surrounding areas eerily quiet. Jason walks over the the hunters bodies and exmaines them. It looked like their deaths were fairly recent, as wella s caused by something quite powerful. Suddenly, Holly appears in front of everyone and she calmly says "Nice job all of you. Don't get cocky though, that was only the first part of the quest. There's a blood trail that leads up to the cave up ahead. Good luck, you're gonna need it."

With that, she promptly vanishes.

Jason, taking her advice follows the bloodtrail up to the cave. As he enters, he sense that something was lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right time to strike. It was dark in there, water dripped, and every noise he made echoed. Perhaps playing solo wasn't a good idea after all. He jumped at a sudden noise, only to realize it was a mouse. Jason just hoped that he didn't run into any more foes...

Sylvia starts to get uneasy; Who was that girl? Why did the wolves run away? We hadn't killed any of them! How much more powerful is everything in this? We all did a nice job?
What?
Winning this might be harder than she thought.

Sylfraptor's crest raises, and she spits on the ground. "This game is... weirding. How much harder is it?" Moving towards the cave a bit, she thrashes her tail quietly as she moves, if a tad stiffly. Checking her health to see that it's a little below 85%, she starts fiddling with her hook-line. "It would be a nice time for you to reveal some ultraweapon you got earlier somehow, or some other massive power boost that you have. If the basal wolves were that strong, we're morn when the first boss arrives."

Sayuri fought side by side with her party member, easily parrying the wolf attacks while he deftly attacks and pierces them with his rapier. Still too early to use her skills, Sayuri went into a five attack combo as she carved through a wolf, seeing it's health go down to the red zone.

"Your turn."

The wolf charged her, landing a couple of hits which reduced her by 10%. Sayuri nearly laughed at the damage, not in a mocking way, but one of wonder.

"Hey, these guys hit hard!" Sayuri called out. "My turn."

An upwards slash sent the wolf bursting into fragments, as Sayuri returned to her protection duties when the wolves seemingly ran away. Seeing another group nearby, Sayuri was curious, and decided to make some interaction.

"Come on. Lets see if we can't make more friends here."

Walking over to the party, Sayuri sheathed her weapon as she called out with a raised hand, to Sylvia's team . "Well met."

"Come on. Lets see if we can't make more friends here."

Walking over to the party, Sayuri sheathed her weapon as she called out with a raised hand, to Sylvia's team . "Well met."

Kaisha looked through her menus. Then after finding the game had a friends list, she started addin her party members to it. Jumping to cancel her skill, she walked forward to greet the other player. "Thanks for the assist." She said before looking at the other players around her and then at their statuses, focusing on their HP. "I suggest we find a healer before we do anything else."

The next moment, Anders had the wolf diced into dozens of bits with the finess of his rapier. There seemed to be no more wolves in sight, but there was another party. He followed close behind, and heard that they needed a healer. "I am unfortunately not a healer, nor do I have potions. Perhaps I will learn a healing technique later down the road. That would be quite useful"

"Shit!"

"Y-yeah... thanks" Kaito said as he quickly rested his body. "Well, thanks for the help. I have to be quick to finish the quest though..." And so he was off, determined to solo this quest.

Sylfraptor turns to the small gathering, having seen a solo player already head off. "Not to try and suppress your grouping up, but I don't like our odds already, and someone's heading off. If we only beat the wolves because of numbers, we're going to by morn by the first boss fight if we fight at any less than full strength. Going with him will likely help our odds; no one will be able to solo this without buying some massively powerful weapon. And if it's this hard, no one will have those massively powerful weapons to sell for a while yet..."

Erik wasn't shocked at the other player's quick departure. In his time playing MMOs he knew there were players who would prefer to do things alone and Erik respected that. Instead of wasting his time trying to convince the player to change his mind, he simply continued on the quest on his own as well. He continued on his way to the quest site, killing wolves and slowly gaining experience until he leveled up.
I believe that madness can find more madness, and that every ounce of madness has a spark of truth. And truth, as you know, has a way of depressing people who don't want to find it.

No one is 100% honest... We all keep 20% of the truth from the world, to protect ourselves & sometimes others.

"I agree." Sayuri replied as she heard the views of the other players. "My user name is Sayuri, just as a formality. Shall we proceed? The fellow who just left might just act as a forward scout, and I think we won't have healing until we reach a certain point."
How to be legitimately recognised in NS? Be a proper Roleplayer.
In a community where knowledge should be used to uplift the teachable and be used as an interest instead of a necessity, the arrogant abuse of knowledge is interesting to watch.

"Call me Jason. Let's get moving, the more we linger the more damger we're in." he says, moving further into the cave. Suddenly, a loud roar is heard from deep within, along with the sound of chewing. Jason suddenly stops and asks the group "Um, what was that? Sounds like it's coming from something big..."

Anders watched not one but two players left, thinking that they can somehow fulfill the quest, no, beat the game alone. Self suggested trying to follow the,mor convince them, but Ander just shook his head. "If they think they can beat this game alone, let them. They'll realize the consequences of their actions sooner or later, then they'll return to us" He lifted his head back up and hears Sayuri introduce herself. He migh as well follow suit. "I am Nyordr, by the way"

The now combined parties moved forward, killing wolves along the way. In the meanwhile, Anders thought to himself regarding the two solo players. One of them was the panda turned tanooki I met at the inn. The other, I don't know. Even behind his pretentious persona, Anders held no interest in the solo players. They think they can wander off alone and do whatever they want, take all of the loot and experience for themselves. It was almost despicable, he couldn't stand players like that in MMOs. The creator of the game even said they had to work together, but whatever, they'll regret their decisions at some point.

The party then arrived at the opening of a large cave, the sounds of growling and feasting along with the scent of fresh meat wafting out of it. "That sounds like a boss to me, probably just a bigger wolf" He looked towards the cave. "What will it be? Do we retreat to heal , or go in and fight?"

"I say reatreat and heal. Maybe go buy a better weapon or something. Those two solo players are probally gonna get eaten by whatever's in there. Screen name's Neyla by the way." She looked into the darkness and rolled her eyes at the two players who had just ran off despite the admin's advice to work togeather. With a flick of her tail, she began the journey back to town.
