Yes, my nation has a funny name. It was originally a puppet.

I'm Declaring this nation dead. From this moment on it will live on as The Frozen Forest. This is for the sake of convenience, as i want to restart with a new, proper name.

Russian people of america wrote:Civilization name ( in native language): Kingdom of Lochlannia
Language name: Sualainnis
Nation on map ( Make it relatively small. Make it a different color than other player colors): Eh, i don't have any way to mark the map at the moment, it's the area equivalent to Wales and England (Not Scotland and Ireland though, just to be clear)
Capital ( if any): Alba
Leader/s and title: King Caoraich
Religion ( if any) name: Worship of the Five
General rundown of mythology ( must be at least 1 paragraph): Lochlannian's believe that there are a total of five major god's that exist. Four of the five control a certain element, and each have smaller less important god's beneath them to actually carry out their daily task. There is also a fifth goddess, who's sole purpose is to give and take life. The four major god's are Liekki (Fire) Vesi (Water) Maa (Earth) Mial (Air) and the fifth is referred to as Nai Vida (Life and Death). As the story goes the world was created by an ancestral god by the name of Antepasado. Antepasado created the world, from the smallest grain of sand to the largest mountain. Everything was in balance and the world grew into a prosperous place. Yet despite this it was empty, and void of life. Antepasado grew quite lonely, and soon he wished that he could have some company. One day while Antepasado was weeping in the clouds his tears fell to the earth and landed on a small seed. The seed grew and within only a few minutes had burst open into a beautiful plant. This plant grew as well, and stopped when it was the size of a full grown man. At the end of the plant was a large pod, it remained sealed for three days before finally it cracked open. Out of the pod fell a small child. Antepasado noticed and swept the girl into his arms, carrying her to a faraway mountain. Here he raised her, for a thousand years. Her name was Nai Vida, and she was loved by Antepasado dearly. One day Antepasado traveled into the mountain's in search of delicious fruit. It was here he found the cursed tree.

The Tree was scarred, charred and devilish. It had no leaves and bore a dark black fruit. Antepasado traveled back to his child, telling her of it and warning her never to go near it. Nai Vida was scared at first, and did her best to avoid the area while she gathered fruit. However one day curiosity spread through her and she ventured to the Tree. She dared to eat the cursed tree's fruit, before becoming violently ill. Antepasado heard his child's cry's and ran to the tree as fast as he could, to see his daughter nearly dead. Antepasado had to make a choice, and he made a brave one at that. Taking a knife he plunged it deep into his stomach, tearing up and leaving a long tear across his body. Out of the tear his soul slipped and his body fell limp. Antepasado's soul entered the Cursed tree, and the tree began to burn with a dangerous fire. Antepasado obliterated the tree at the cost of fracturing his soul. His soul broke into four different pieces, and they were carried away by the wind. One drifted into the now destroyed tree's ashes, another into the raging tides of the Sea. Another drifted into the soft mud not too far away, and another fell into a cloud. Each fragment grew until a new child was created from each. By now Nai Vida had awoken, her pain finished. The young goddess met the fiery boy born of the ashes, she named him Liekki. She spent the next week venturing out and finding the other three children. She returned to her mountain home with the children, though grief stricken over Antepasado's death she cared for them, raising them as best she could. Nai Vida began to create life not much later, bird's, deer, lizards and even human's. Once the children grew into adolescence she allowed them certain job's in order to care for the world her father had created, and the creatures that now inhabited it. The four children, each one a piece of Antepasado look up to Nai Vida as their mother, even as adults. Now the five god's watch over Humanity, sometimes venturing out among them, other times watching overhead.
Afterlife ( if any) description: There are three stages to the afterlife, the Overworld, The Divine Forest and the Underworld. The Overworld is restricted only to those who fall in battle and mothers who die in childbirth. The Divine Forest is restricted to those who lived a normal life, and as you can probably guess, it's a forest. Finally you have the Underworld, which is the equivalent of hell minus Satan. (This section, past this was originally really long and detailed, then my computer shut off and i lost it all, so please take mercy on me because i don't have the heart to write it all again.)

The day is determined by the king and the Clergy. Typically held in the Summer or after the birth of a Prince or Princess.
-Antepasado's Day: Working on this day is prohibited by law, it's meant to honor the ancestral god Antepasado and the sacrifice he made. All children born on this day are required to become members of the Clergy.
-Winter Festival: Used to celebrate the coming of snow and the approaching Spring. Festivities include games and fairs, the festival last for about three days.

Customs: It's customary for people to visit a priest at once every other day. It is also customary that people show generosity to the poor. People are expected to show respect to those older than them as well. (I'll add onto this tomorrow, nothing totally significant)
Gender roles; Men are responsible for supporting the household, and are able to be called up by the King if war break's out. They are considered the head's of the house. Woman have equal right's to men, however they are expected to bear children and take care of the home when the father is away. Sons learn trades from their fathers, while Woman learn how to be mothers from their mother.

Children are taught manners and expected to learn from their mothers and fathers. Elders help make important household decision's, and their advice is usually appreciated within the household. Both men and woman learn to read, write and speak publicly. Woman are also considered equal to men, roughly. They may get a divorce if they can provide a decent reason.

Number of people living in your civ: 3.5 Million people.

How many soldiers do you have ( no more than 16th of your population, the more troops you have, the harder it will be on your nations welfare when they are deployed): 175,000 Men. (Five percent of my population)
Political System ( how is your civ ruled): Absolute Monarchy
Main mode of travel: Horses.

Distinct Caste ( classes) in your society?:
-Royalty
-Nobility/Clergy
-Artisans
-Peasants
( Optional) flaws inherent in your society ( For example, infighting or class tensions): The Clergy and the Monarchy are usually quite hostile to each other, the King seeks to limit the Clergy's powers however he is unable due to the support they have from the populace. This has caused some tension within the country.

History of your civ ( be as detailed as possible. The more you write the better!): The people of Lochlannia were originally descended from barbarians living in the area. A mixture of tribes that was finally united by a young man by the name of Hector. Hector became the first king of Lochlannia, creating an official language, money and class system for the tribes. He turned them into a civilization. From here the new kingdom grew, moving west and destroying its neighbors brutally, It was about at this time that the worship of the five finally came into play. Another young man had gained a heavy following among the kingdom's resident's, taking the local lore and adding to it before making it into a book. This man has yet to be named, but it's known he died not much later from 'natural' causes. No matter what had happened to him, a new religion had taken hold and Hector, now an old man wasn't able to shake it off. Faced with the destruction of his life's work, he took the smarter route and allowed the new religion to be recognized. He died only twenty years later and his son soon took the throne. He had a quiet reign, and before anything noteworthy actually could happen Paris the First was killed in a freak accident. Paris brother took the throne next, becoming the nation's third king. He would become the Dragon of the South, James the First. James reign began normally, but it didn't take long to notice something was off about the boy. He had people murdered for the slightest offenses, and nearly began a civil war as a result of his banning of the Worship of the Five. He was soon assassinated and his son took the throne. Hector the second quickly unbanned the worship, and rather than try and halt it's spread, he encouraged it. He made it the only major religion within the Kingdom, and he created the Clergy class of society. He would grow to live a long life, before finally passing away, but not before making major improvements to the military, Infrastructure and lives of the common citizen. Several king's later bring's us to the present. The current king is King Caoraich. He's a fair but ancient king, and people fear that when he dies his sons may fight for the throne.

Magic Users ( What are they called, how many of them are there? What are their powers? Give a general description of them): Those who can use magic are regarded as the Blessed, and people assume that the Five gave them their magic as a gift. They are usually invited into the Nobility, and their powers range from being able to create fire to telepathy. Four of the Five Grand Priest are Magicians.

Finished
. Apologizes if it got a bit short near the end, i lost several paragraphs after my connection with NS timed out. After that i lost the heart to rewrite it all. I'll probably elaborate on the society a bit more IC.

General rundown of mythology ( must be at least 1 paragraph): In the beginning there was nothing. Out of nothing came god creating itself from the nothingness and then creating the Cosmos, Time and the laws which bind it together in an every expanding realm of his. For a long time he rested, having created all that there was, but one day he decided that the Cosmos was worth more than just existing, it deserved activity that would arise from a small start, and so he gave life to the Cosmos, in the Realm of Polaris (Earth), he took his time, creating all that was to live over many numberless years, engineering and guiding it along until it was crafted in his image, and so humans were born, being intelligent enough to earn themselves the greatest souls of all living beings, ones able to transcend into the afterlife. And so god created Heaven a land of perfection where humans would pass to when they died to live in bliss with one another and in eternal paradise.

However, god, wanting the humans to experience reality on a truly honest level, gave them the power of self-control, and therefore, they would have to choose to be good. Those that would behave would be given passage to Heaven, and those who acted horribly would not. However, many humans did not know the lines between these behaviors, so god sent down from Heaven an angel named Ethneal who spoke to the first prophet, David, and told him that god had a list of ten commandments to the people. With these commandments David traveled throughout the Levant, spreading god's word, and then made way for faraway lands to spread the word of god. Many accepted it, but some were opposed to it and attacked David. However, David survived to be one hundred and ten before dying in the land of Cartha.

God's next messenger, Abraham, was given a message to spread informing the people about their rewards and punishments for actions and on top of that, word of the eventual end of time and space, which would occur far longer than men could count from the current date, that the cosmos would slowly pull apart and become a hot, dark and massive realm, and that by that point, most humans would be in heaven. This word split the church's believers as another false prophet named Dorian began spreading lies about the religion fifty years after Abraham's death, saying that he was god's son and thus a demi-god, that Abraham was a false prophet, that a hell commanded by a Devil existed for the wicked, and the cosmos would end in a far closer time. Many believed his lies, and it made God furious, so Dorian died at the age of forty nine, dying of a disease in his throat, punishing him for the lies he once spoke.

God realized that many had fallen for Dorian's lies as he had made man free to believe any word spoken or deny it as well, so, after 56 years, he contacted a third messenger Adam in the deserts of the East during a time of drought, and told him that Dorian was a false prophet. To prove that he was the true god, as many in the region worshiped idols, he created a stream of water which granted Adam's village water to drink from. Over time, Adam made his way west, spreading the true word which soon overshadowed the Dorian faith and saved the people of the world from deceit and lies, though many still believe in false gods and idols. With that Adam notified all that god made a commandment making him the final prophet

Afterlife ( if any) description: The good go to heaven, the wicked are punished for their crimes and then allowed into heaven after their punishment which often involves being lashed by the Angel of Redemption a certain number of times, or being presented a trial in the realm of Mercy where they can earn their way to Heaven. The Gate to Heaven is guarded by the Angel Ryan who grants you forgiveness for sins past and access to the land of paradise where all you desire is accessible and all those you knew can be met.

Demons/Devils?: None.
Religious Human leaders?: Priests, Missionaries, 'Unconfirmed Saints'
Commandments ( things that this religion demands of it's followers?):

IV. One must not commit adultery. The Bond of marriage must be broken before a new bond can be created.
V. One must give to those in need so that they too may be given the fruit of life you enjoy.
VI. One must avoid any substance that perverts the mind. If one can become addicted to it, it is not permitted as it ruins the view one has on the grand cosmos.
VII. One must be kind to strangers
VIII. One must harbor those in need of safety from persecution, even if their beliefs are not in unity with god's message.
IX. All of mankind is equal, men and women, and people from all parts of the world, and it is their right to have the same opportunities as one another
X. One must be brave for one's family, they are the greatest gift from heaven and should be loyal and kind to one another.
Final Commandment. No further messengers shall be sent until the end times, which shall not come for a long time.

Customs: Women are highly respected and allowed to divorce their husbands. According to their religion all people are created equally. Homosexuality is virtually non-existent in the society because people in the society have just never came up with the concept, and due to the extreme rarity of it, it is often seen as taboo. Fashion: The Northern regions of the country are more formal and conservatively dressed with very imperial looking clothing with pants, tunics, coats, dresses for women and a flare of red or dark blue over their more conservatively colored clothes. In the south there are the traditional areas and more progressive areas with people wearing silk and cloth robes in traditional areas with light blue, purple and green being the most coveted colors, the progressive areas by contrast wear more romanesque clothes with light colors such as light blue, light orange, white and tan being common. Throughout the country the Phyrigian cap is currently popular as a nod towards the era of integration. The Capital has a distinct culture with burgundy formal clothing being very popular. Many wear light orange sashes in support of the Kingdom with some wearing blue sashes representing the Bourgeoisie.

Marriage ( is it voluntary or arranged?): Voluntary, arranged marriages are permitted for minority religions, but are socially looked down on.
Music ( give some favored instruments, a song if you want!): Guitars are popular among the young. More symphonic music with trumpets, Occitan Horns (French Horns), Violins, Cellos, Violas, and other such instruments are also common.
Most important virtue in life ( Ex: Pious, honorable, knowledgeable, devout, ect.): Honor and Intellect

Terrain/s present in nation ( where?): Similar to the IRL Southern France's terrain with woods to the north and rocky beaches with olive trees, and humid warm weather to the south. Olive Trees, Argan Trees, Cypress Trees and Palm Trees are common along beaches and the southern farmlands with grassier more temperate trees to the north. Farmland covers the areas further from the shores all the way to the borders where they meet two mountain ranges, the Atlas Mountains to the Northeast and the Crimson Mountains along their western border. A river coming from the Atlas mountains separates the country from its neighbors along the Eastern border as well.
Agriculture, fishing, hunting; which is the most prominent source of food in your civ?: Agriculture.
(Only agriculture) tell how bountiful your harvests are and what crops you mostly grow: Quite Bountiful consisting of wheat, olives, dates, couscous, barley, oats. Hemp is also grown for medicinal purposes.
(Exchange system) how are items bought and sold in your civ ( Ex: money, bargains, credit etc.): Barter is permitted in markets and informal circumstances, but the primary form of payment in cities, and the only form of payment to banks and the government is in silver coins which are minted at the capital.

Distinct Caste ( classes) in your society?: The Imperial Family, the Nobles, the Burghers, the Bourgeoisie, the Merchant Class, the Common Bourgeoisie and the Commoners
( Optional) flaws inherent in your society ( For example, infighting or class tensions): There are those that believe in Dorianism who are often very un-loyal to the government. There are also very few, though some who want to see their region of the Empire independent as there were once five nations where there are one now.

History: In the 1400s PFM (Prior to the Final Message from their god), the first proto-Occitan peoples settled the bay area that they now rule over. These peoples began to share common languages with many city states and minor nations arising from the lands of which these people ruled. Over time, five-subcultures began to arise with each becoming a kingdom by the 300s, the Royaume des Îles Aube consisting of the Islands to the center of the country where the capital is located, the Royaume de Cramoisi in the South-West, the Kingdom of Loire to the North-West with more pagan traditions at the time than the other regions, the Verrian Kingdom to the North East where the word of David first reached the people of Occitan only ten years after the formation of the Kingdom, and to the South East, the Royaume du Concordat Rouge a land once further divided that united as the "Kingdom of Kings" under the Red Concordat, the High King there would oversee the lesser Kings and keep them from rebelling while unifying them to fight against the other Occitan Kingdoms. Though it was officially called the Kingdom of Kings, most nations called it the Kingdom of the Red Concordat because the prior term was seen as quite repetitive.

For centuries the Kingdoms warred, the Dawn Isles becoming the greatest Naval Power and often controlling not only access to the main sea, but the coastlines of other powers. It trained highly effective light cavalry which it became famous for in all of its wars. The Davidian faith spreading first the the Verrian Kingdom, next to the Kingdom of the Dawn Isles, the Crimson Kingdom accepted it third, the Kingdom of the Red Concordat, after a civil war over the matter, accepted it Fourth in the year 68PFM. When the Dorian Faith arrived a massive civil war begun in the Verrian Kingdon as the King accepted it but the people saw it as heresy. The Kingdom of the Sunset Isles, which was in a royal marriage with the Princess of the Verrian Kingdom, supported the locals and invaded the region conquering it and killing the King. The Verrian Kingdom was from then on controlled by the Kingdom of the Dawn Isles through a political marriages and military allegiances by Verrian Generals. When the final word of Adam arrived, the Dawn Isles used it to justify their interference further and immediately accepted it, however, the High King of the Kingdom of the Red Concordat did not, he claimed it was a false message in the same way that Dorianism was, and though many of his subordinate Kings rose up, he crushed their revolts. The Kingdom of the Dawn Isles and the Verrian Kingdom declared war on the Kingdom of Kings, however after a twenty nine year war, they failed to defeat the Kings in combat and only slightly gained land in the north of the Kingdom of the Red Concordat.

Meanwhile, in the east, the Crimson Kingdom and the Kingdom of Loire had been warring over a territory called Lorrane, a rich dairy farming province with traces of silver which were becoming a common form of currency between the five Kingdoms. Over time, the war expanded to being a war on Paganism where the Crimson Kingdom would massacre Loirean villages along their borders. However, in time, the Kingdom of Loire began to convert as the paganist faith fell out of favor with the public who increasingly saw it as brutal, hateful and destructive. The two continued to go to war with one another until a horde from the west, the Hallicans invaded pillaging several villages in both Kingdoms. The two with the help of the Kingdom of the Dawn Isles united to repel the hoards killing the nomadic encampments en masse.

In the year 519AFM (After the Final Message), General Marc Augustine overthrew the Kingdom of the Dawn Isles after decades of weak leadership. He had been a General during a war with the Loirean peoples who had trade disputes and still harbored a large pagan population, and had experienced a very negative relationship with the King and the King's Consul. His first action as self-declared Emperor was arresting the King's Council for insubordination and weakening the country, annexing the Verrian Kingdom, sending his loyalist forces to their capital to execute their King. He replaced the King with one of his Verrian Generals who had been a long time friend of his and waited a year and a half before declaring war on the Loirean Kingdom. He marched a force of 19,000 loyalists into the Kingdom himself and marched directly to their capital defeating all ambushes and attacks along the way with relative ease before arriving there and executing the Royal Family. He then annexed their kingdom before returning to the capital to stop a conspiracy to overthrow his Empire. He confronted his former subordinate commanders and fought each in a duel defeating each in hand-to-hand combat.

Out of his victories an Imperial Cult arose in support of him, and, after two years, he used his followers support to propel the Kingdom into a war with the Kingdom of the Red Concordat citing the failures during the war long ago as a damage to his Empire's honor. From the start two of the eleven Kings defected seeing Emperor Augustine as a true leader and having been chosen by god. For this invasion he tactically blockaded all of their ports and created a massive scale ball and socket scenario where his cavalry forces wrapped around the borders of the country while Verrian heavy infantry and newly recruited loyal Loirean Archers and Spearmen marched towards the capital more directly defeating garrisons in large towns along the way to re-supply. When they arrived at the capital the two cavalry forces of 8,000 horsemen attacked the outskirts of the town from the rear while the main infantry force of 14,000 attacked the main gates of the city, breaching the gates and allowing the cavalry in with them. They stormed the High King's palace, but spared him making him swear loyalty to the Empire and replacing him with a lower King who was already siding with the Empire from the beginning. This allowed him to have the High King use the formerly hostile Armed Forces to pacify the locals while he returned to the Capital to oversee his new Realm.

For twelve years he saw his Empire strengthen and consolidated his political power quelling a small revolt in the Loirean region which he then abolished removing it's local government from existence. However, he felt his job was not complete as the Kingdom of Crimson still stood, mocking his claim to being the Emperor of the Occitan people. So, in the year 535, after requesting they join the Empire as a semi-autonomous nation, Emperor Augustine formally declared war on the Crimson Kingdom citing it as a war of unity. He mobilized an unheard of 48,000 men to invade the region conquering in nineteen days by the start of the seventh lunar cycle.

He returned home twenty two days later, and on the last day of the seventh lunar cycle, he abolished all local governments officially founding his empire. During his later reign statues of him were erected without him needing to ask in all of his major cities. The Arc of Triumph was constructed in the capital, with replica's being built in the cities around it, and statues of his generals and fallen war heroes were built. The tradition of honor burning at death was began as the ashes would be buried. He lived to be 72 years old in the year 567 before he perished and his son Adam Augustine became the next Emperor naming the Empire (Which until then was referred to as 'the Empire' or 'Augustine's Empire') the Empire of the Rising Sun as a nod towards the origin of his fathers power as a General in the Kingdom of the Dawn Isles' Army. The new Emperor oversaw the stabilization and integration of the Kingdoms, crushing twenty revolts during his time as Emperor, however, at the age of 58, his cousin Darius overthrew him sending him to prison until he died at the age of 61 in 598.

Emperor Darius Solomon was a powerful leader, during his time he repressed the peoples of the four lesser kingdoms and no further revolts occurred. He fought in several wars with the Hallican tribes to the east sending armies to massacre their people before returning them home with loot from the towns they sacked. These raids on the formerly powerful nomad group helped to fuel the economy which shifted over to having a merchant class which expanded trade from the region across the southern sea. His reign also saw the establishment of the Occitan Orthodox Church which promoted several written books from the Davidian faith while rejecting other darker ones as false prophecies. He constructed a massive monastery in the capital for the Church and assigned Knights to escort the missionaries calling them Imperial Templars. Emperor Solomon then ordered the construction of a massive road system with massive bridges to and from the capital island to the mainland and for aqueducts to be built around the country to provide water to all. He also had public fountains built in the capital and abroad in larger cities in the kingdom. Emperor Solomon died aged 76 in the year 632 AFM, and though he was replaced by his nephew Jean Augustine, he was remembered in a positive light.

Jean Augustine had a very calm reign overseeing some minor cultural changes with the import of faraway foods completely changing the types of things people ate and the first couscous farms propping up in the south. He crushed a small revolt in Loire and moved the capital four miles over to the eastern coastline of the island naming it Bois-de-Rose after the large Rosewood trees that grow on the island that were used as luxury wood and even farmed to an extent in the east of the island. He died at the age of 62 in the year 673. His son, Charles I Augustine was more significant promoting a new style of clothing and architecture, he wore pants, once considered the clothes of barbarians, brought into style the Phyrigian cap and started the trend of capital citizens wearing an orange sash to symbolize their loyalty to the government. He was a diplomatic leader making alliances and trade agreements while negotiating with would-be revolutionaries, and he established a centralized bank which began minting Imperial coins. He invested in modernizing the navy and brought it to being a high standard navy and expanded the nation's control along the frontiers building outposts and walls with gates for passage at several mountain passes. Towards the end of his life, he disbanded the Templars seeing them as bothersome and a threat to the monarchy. He died at the old age of 84 after 61 years of rule in the year 734.

His son Francois Augustine was a more timid ruler, he avoided raising taxes and became fiscally conservative saving up coin in the kingdom's bank. Though he did not accomplish terribly much during his reign, he did make a push for public cleanliness which is suggested in the holy book. He made public statements about the importance of cleaning oneself to others and themselves and the church responded by supporting these claims. During his reign the guitar became the instrument of the Commoners, Common Bourgeoisie, and Merchant classes of society and folk songs spread throughout the Kingdom. His leadership saw the completion of many of the roads and aqueducts that Emperor Solomon began the construction of, and an Imperial Militia was established towards the end of his reign acting as a police force. Francois died at the age of 63 after 18 years of rule in the year 752 AFM.

Francois's son Jean Augustine was an effective, though dismissed ruler, he formally accepted the Lunar Calendar as the Kingdom's calendar. During his reign the military saw advancements in their siege equipment with the trebuchet being adopted in the year 757 and pikemen and crossbows being introduced in the 760s. He was notorious for not being able to bear a male child, and twice a nephew of his tried to overthrow his leading to him passing a law which modified the royal line so that if the King had no male children, that the eldest daughter would become the head of state as Empress, a title non-existent to this point with the title Queen used for the Emperor's wife. Francois died in the year 799 at the age of 65 after 47 years of rule.

His daughter, Elise Augustine was a prominent figure and Empress of the nation, when she ascended to the throne a civil war was initiated with the House of Parmagna, one of her Uncle's families headed by the pretender Augustine II of Pargmagna rebelling against him. They clashed for ten years with her Uncle controlling the cities in the land of the Red Concordat effectively before she sent a force of 6,000 Imperial Militiamen to subdue the revolt. They clashed against the 8,000 man pretender army and with Elise's leadership, managed to defeat them in the Battle of the Forge, a small, very pro-Parmagnan part of the land of the Red Concordat. With her victory, the nation's mixed views on her legitimacy shifted and she became highly respected, winning in a naval war against the Dalmaticans a former power to the south. Her reign saw the Atlas Lion become the national symbol as the nation had, since it's inception, not lost a war against a foreign power. Elise also oversaw a shift in the culture with religious revivalism occurring and many saying her coronation is proof of the holy book's truth in regards to equality. When she accepted this it only further cemented her power. Empress Elise died in the year 841 at the age of 68 after 42 years of rule.

Her son, Francois II Augustine became a religious leader, he strengthened the church, giving it funds to study god's cosmos leading to the first observatories being constructed. He also re-established the Templar, this time naming them the Imperial Occitan Orthodox Templar, and gave the head of the Church, or the High Priest, advisory status in the government. During this time agricultural farming was good, and the faith spread beyond the borders due to missionaries being transported with armed templar guards. Several religious monuments such as the Pillars of Guidance, the Temple of David, and the Museum of Adam were created. Francois' reign was otherwise calm, he combated piracy in the Southern Sea, but otherwise, the nation remained stable and had a growing economy. He died at the age of 69 in the year 878 after 37 years of rule.

His son Jean II Augustine was a poor ruler who at times threatened the financial collapse of the Empire. The economy slowed under his rule, because, out of fear, he dared not combat the pirates in the Southern Sea leading to a spike in piracy. His advisers walked over him, and he knew it and accepted it. During his rule the Burghers and Bourgeoisie gained in power and the nobles suffered. After nineteen years of rule in 897 his brother gained the favor of the advisers who demanded he abdicate the throne to his brother. And so he did.

His Brother, Francois III Augustine was far more effective, he saw the diminishing power of the nobles outside of his family, and he liked it. He helped the upper class Bourgeoisie gain more power making them economically as powerful as the nobles, and when his advisers got upset that he hadn't fallen into their hands as his brother had. He had them dismissed and arrested. He then invested in a stronger Navy and four years later began the strongest anti-piracy campaign in history, he had the imperial militia raid pirate havens and the navy begin bombarding city states that knowingly harbored pirates that were active in the Sunrise Empire's sea territory. But most importantly he created new trade agreements that helped restore the economy to it's former height. He died aged 61 in the year 918 after 21 years of rule considered to have been the savoir of the Empire.

His son, Charles II is the current Emperor, at the age of 34, he is still fairly young, but has served as an Admiral and General at times during the Anti-Piracy campaigns. Being named after the great Charles I, his ascendance to the throne has been marked by the return of the Phyrigian cape and of sashes with robes and other old clothing from the early Empire coming back into appeal. He has restructured the Army to be more modern with heavier armored cavalry, light horse archers, crossbowmen, moderately armored pikemen and other strong forces that have helped re-establish the Empire as a great power. However, for the first time in hundreds of years the people have wanted expansion, demanding the Empire spread it's domain over lesser neighbors, and for the first time in hundreds of years. It has a leader who shares that desire.

If someone is unable to pay their debts they may sell themselves into slavery to avoid the death penalty. This Slavery is not permanent, as people can sign up for five, ten and fifteen years as a slave.

How many soldiers do you have ( no more than 16th of your population, the more troops you have, the harder it will be on your nations welfare when they are deployed): 175,000 Men. (Five percent of my population)
Political System ( how is your civ ruled): Absolute Monarchy

You can't have more than 1million people in your civilization.

It's the Medieval ages correct? I didn't find anything specifying what part of the Medieval ages it was, England's population during the High Middle Ages was between 3.7 million and 5-7 million and so that's what i based my population off of. What would be a more appropriate population?

Yes, my nation has a funny name. It was originally a puppet.

I'm Declaring this nation dead. From this moment on it will live on as The Frozen Forest. This is for the sake of convenience, as i want to restart with a new, proper name.

Number of people living in your civ: 3.5 Million people.
Nomadic or stationary: Stationary
Does slavery exist ( if so, how many slaves are there? How many freeman are there?): Yes, about 8,000 slaves exist within the Kingdom. If someone is unable to pay their debts they may sell themselves into slavery to avoid the death penalty. This Slavery is not permanent, as people can sign up for five, ten and fifteen years as a slave.
Describe ( or provide a picture) the appearance of your average male and female citizen: Male Female
What powers do your civs' leader/s posses; how do they gain power?: They have total control of the population, except in religion. Power is hereditary, passed onto the Son of each king.

Eh, sorry it resembles Europe and i just figured it was easier to say Wales and England. Thank you, does that mean i'm accepted?

I noticed it looked like Europe too, however, Grand African posted earlier in the OOC that he didn't want any populations over 1 million. (Whoops interpreted that wrong)

I would watch it a little longer. The OP going for two days kinda put things at a stalemate. I am thinking of just apping more characters on there to get interaction up. Anyway, I will stop chattering until my app is finished and responded to.

I noticed it looked like Europe too, however, Grand African posted earlier in the OOC that he didn't want any populations over 1 million, and please do not take me for a fool I know my history of the world back in the High Middle Ages. I'm a big fan of the crusades. So please, don't be a douche.

Eh, i wasn't trying to be a douche. Sorry if that's how it sounded. Wasn't saying you were a fool either, in fact you probably know more about the Middle ages than me. I was just explaining the 1 million, i wasn't trying to justify it. Sorry

What would be a more appropriate population?

Yes, my nation has a funny name. It was originally a puppet.

I'm Declaring this nation dead. From this moment on it will live on as The Frozen Forest. This is for the sake of convenience, as i want to restart with a new, proper name.

Civilization name ( in native language): Hir Gwydh
Language name: Low Gwydh
Nation on map:
Image

Capital ( if any): Barfau Hir
Leader/s and title: High King Ægrych the tall, High Sage Rhodri

Religion ( if any) name: Tall Trees Cult
General rundown of mythology ( must be at least 1 paragraph): In the beginning of the world, there was nothing, silence, darkness. When from the darkness arose a woman, Andraste, who had created the universe from her very might. She grew lonely and created her a companion, Hywel, to which they birthed the gods, there many sons and daughters were tasked with many things, from farming to dreams, if there was a task, there was a god for it. Andraste was proud of her children, and wishing to honour them and her husband, she moulded from a drop of blood humanity and all of the animals. To give these people the resources to survive Andraste planted every tree individually, with the help of her children they sought to make the world liveable, and teeming with life, which they did.

And so humanity worshipped Andraste dutifully, until three of Andraste's children, Thyrwyc, god of thieves, Hydwyr god of treachery, and Ælfthryth, goddess of the young sought to hurt their mother, they conspired to steal her followers, and so they did, they had stolen almost all of her followers before Andraste noticed, and in her anger she shot an arrow at them, striking Ælfthryth, whom Andraste considered among her favourite children, Andraste wept greatly, creating the river Lydwr, where upon the southern bank she spoke to her most devoted follower, Hærviu the Great and commanded him to create a mighty empire, and promised to him that his descendants would be plentiful, and his kingdom reign forever.

The primary tenants of the Tall Trees cult is worship of nature, as in the faith it is believed that all things have souls, from the mightiest timber oak to the tiniest grain of sand, the cult believes in sacrifices of animals and worship to come closer to Andraste and her children.

Afterlife ( if any) description:
In the afterlife, the departed will be first separated into four categories, first, is those who acted dishonourably in their life, where they will experience a millennium of pain and sadness before being given another chance to act honourably. Secondly, is those who died honourably, and lived lives worshiping Andraste, who shall be seated with their ancestors and drink heavily and feast, and whatever they wish. Third, are those deemed worthy of Andraste who shall be seated at her long table, this list comprises of sages and priests, as well as every descendant of Hærviu, who is seated at Andraste's right hand. Lastly, are those who lived unworthy, where Yædwyr will expose how they lived dishonest, and shall the unworthy will live in limbo for half of a millennium, before being given another chance. The righteous will one day be called to battle to fight the invaders who may threaten Andraste's sacred grove in Barfau Hir, then they shall conquer the earth, and kill Thyrwyc and Hydwyr and those who had followed them.

The faith dictates that outsiders are not to be trusted. Regional foods are wheat, which is made into bread and beer. Meats in the culture are from Bovines, fish, lambs and pigs.
Gender roles; Men are essentially rulers and fighters, and take upon jobs involving heavy physical labour. Raiding, was an every day occurrence as the wars went on for years, with periods of brief peace, for worship. As the one thing that united the clans was the worship of Andraste. The clan that Hærvyu the Great was born from was named Norþyk a clan renowned on the island for their ruthless warriors, sought to unite the clans. Upon the death of Hærvyu's Father Chief Gwynd, Hærvyu was crowned High Chief at age 9, it was when he was 13 that he was swimming in the River Lydwr that he saw a vision of Andraste, as he felt something pull him under, he had begun to panic, then Andraste sent him a vision of his kingdom, and his dynasty. He awoke upon the bank, with his high sage Ydvr, who interpreted his vision as a prophecy that he must fulfill. And that he did, battle after battle Hærvyu conquered foe after foe, adding land to his empire, he fathered one child, Daydvyr, who would become the next King of the Kingdom. At his last battle, he was hit by a poisoned arrow which struck his armour and found its mark in his liver, in his last moments he commanded his Son to lead his kingdom righteously. And with the siege of Castle Rydwyr the Island was united.

Daydvyr returned to Barfau Hir, along with the dead of the campaign and his Father's corpse. This marked several centuries of relative peace and calm on the island, while the clans still fought, they answered to the High Kings commands, and always united together to fight outside forces.

Most people are between 200,000 - 700,000; with only 1 nation being 1 million

Sengoku Rp
Fading Songs
Shinobi RP

All children born on this day are required to become members of the Clergy.

What powers do your civs' leader/s posses; how do they gain power?: They have total control of the population, except in religion. Power is hereditary, passed onto the Son of each king.
Distinct Caste ( classes) in your society?:
-Royalty
-Nobility/Clergy

I know I re-read it and I realized I was being a douche, haha. I just read it wrong. Also, I know how you feel Forsworn. I'm a co-op but I effectively can't play as the GZD as I do not know what he's planning for them. All I know is I'm basically out of the roleplay once I'm sent off to the secluded island so that'll be boring.
