There was a momentary pause, then Sawyer said "I'm going to ask you, why? Despite the fact that the Rocky Mountain Union Army Core is marching on Sacramento and we have victory and Allen in sight why would we do a complete 180 and ally with the Nation we are in an open conflict with?"

"If I take Sacramento, and assuming Allen and the military and other political figures are in the city the war is effectively won. I can take the land we declared the war to get. And while I do not like the idea of Mexico taking Californian land that still doesn't give me a reason to attack them."

Militia Units were moved to protect El Paso and other important border cities. The Texas-Mexico border was closed and most military/militia units were moved to the border to keep it secure. A message was sent to the California fleet saying "The Texas Military Forces will soon be fighting with you. We are wanting open communication to effectively render Mexico destroyed."

Guards swarmed into the office and grabbed both Taylor and Kiser taking them to the secure bunker.

A message was sent to the Mexican government saying that the activity was purely to ensure the safety of Texas and was in no way meant as an act of aggression towards the great Mexico.

"Its also far riskier for you, not entirely of Mexico. Your people must be tired of their Brothers, sons, and fathers being drafted to fight a war they have nothing to gain in. You should've aligned with California once the War started and fought Mexico, not wait until the body count is in the hundreds of thousands."

With most remaining in the city, Mexican units began setting up defensive positions behind the initial Texan line. Edwards Air Force Base continued to be evacuated, and charges were being set on what could not be brought with, to deny them to the enemy if need be. Citizens not joining the defenders were urged to stay in their homes, and the Midwestern troops were ordered to fight alongside the defenders, to leave the city immediately, or to throw down their arms.

Rio Grande

While the county as a whole carefully mobilized, Mexican levies were sent off to reinforce the divisions along the Rio Grande, moving with them light artillery to be set up behind the border.

A message was sent to the Texan government saying that the activity was purely to ensure the safety of Mexico and was in no way meant as an act of aggression towards the great Texas.

Unknown Location?

Assad had no idea where he was. All he remembered was someone carrying him after falling from a plane. He could still feel himself falling, and every time he felt like he was falling, he felt at peace with himself. Falling was a new euphoria for him.

But now, he didn't feel like he was falling. He began screaming. "SOMEBODY! HELP! ANYONE, PLEASE, I DON'T KNOW WHERE I AM! PLEASE, HELP ME!"

A patrol heard the beleaguered President's cries, and, cautious, approached the cave. A pair cradled weapons, looking rather nervous, a third in an unfamiliar uniform knelt down next to Assad.

"By the Saints. That's Bashar Al-Assad."

"Is he a hostile?"

"I though we were helping him?"

"Shut up you two. We call in for orders. Until then, we sit tight."

The man, presumably an officer, waved off one of the others to make the call.

"Well, Mr. President-what the heck are you doing here?"
