Charlia wrote:"He did those things to both of us!" she screamed, and for the first time, there was true emotion in the voice.

Pain.

Pain, in its purest form.

She was a being of justice, who had a great injustice done against her. It was how the two were split apart in the first place. And it was wrong, and it pained them both to the very fibers of their being.
The chains were too strong for her to break through, but some part of her sensed that, in this universe, at least, Raven was the equivalent to God.

And she stood down.

She would obey.

Lux finally softened, as he heard the pain in her voice. All of the sorrow she had tried to hide, it was finally showing through. "But you cannot take your pain out on others...There is nothing just about that, Shekinah. You are hurt, and you need someone to help you through that hurt. Isolating yourself...and holding yourself above others, hurting them in order to kill your own pain...that shall not heal you," he spoke to her, gently.

Stepping quietly toward her, he smiled nervously. His wings also twinkled timidly, as though they did not know what was coming. "...Please...end this crusade, and let us help you...Let us help you move beyond your pain, which you have hidden for so long..." he urged her, kindly.

"All I ever wanted was justice," she muttered. "It was all I ever asked. But there was no justice for me. Only pain... I won't let anyone else suffer because of injustice. I refuse!"

"Hmm?" Ma'at blinked at Nick, and then smiled and leaned back. "Nope, nothing. Just a couple of hieroglyphs I haven't seen in a while."

She then turned on her heal and looked around, purposefully ignoring the attractive Anubis... perhaps a little too purposefully. "So! Let's go find out what's going on, right?"

Anubis pushed himself to his feet and walked after her, but stopped when he realized that Nick wasn't following them. "You coming or what?" he asked.

Nick shook his head and moved forward. "Sorry. Spaced out for a moment..."

New hieroglyphs perhaps? Anubis did teach me quite a bit... Maybe I should take a look at them later.

Otohime, being herself, had made a nest in Raphael's hair, and was swinging her tail side to side like a pendulum from there, one leg hanging down to his ear while her snout just barely came down to his eyebrows, tiny as she was as a baby dragon. "Hey Raphy," her gem-like eyes looked into his as she snaked her way down a bit further, "You're silly."

Lux held her in his arms, as she became unconscious, and he smiled as he realized Charlotte had finally come to. Of course, she was out-cold, but she would be fine. He laid her gently on the ground, and he began to heal her own wounds with his light.

Arael rushed over, in the meantime, and he looked over her in a panic. "Is she alright? Please tell me she is not dead!" he exclaimed.

"She is alright, Arael...she simply needs to rest...just as...the rest of us..." In that moment, he passed out right on top of her. His wings folded themselves on his back, and he seemed as though he was asleep.

Xavier hurried over with Hamiri, and he sighed his relief. "...Huhhh...he's just tired..." he sighed. He took Lux off Charlotte's body, and he began to heal him.

In the meantime, Arael began to heal Charlotte. He held her in his lap, looking over her wounds with fright. "...What...was that?...I-I have never seen..."

"Justice. Or Shekinah. She's supposed to be God's daughter, I guess, but she's...not okay, to say the least," Hamiri explained.

Arael nodded, and he looked down at Charlotte. ...Will she be herself when she awakens?...Why did this happen?...And...will it happen again? he thought, fearfully.

In Charlotte's mind, there had been darkness.

Screaming.

Her own screaming.

Oh, God, it hurts! Please, please, help me! Make him stop!

"You are not My daughter."

"I don't understand..."

Voices, hissing, mocking.

"Filthy little whore," an absent voice whispered. "You're as guilty as sin. Look at you. Your own Father hates you. You don't belong in heaven. You're just a pathetic, broken piece of trash who deserves to burn in hell, forever."

"Give me your heart, Cade..."

"NO! NO! I DIDN'T MEAN TO! I DON'T WANT TO REMEMBER THESE THINGS--"

"You killed him."

"I... I'm sorry... I'm sorry..."

"You're just a disgusting, sinful wretch."

"...I know... I know..."

"You'll never see heaven again."

"...please... stop..."

"You're going to burn in hell for the rest of eternity. And you deserve every second of it."

Then there was peace.

Her eyes opened.

"...?"

Arael blinked, as he saw her open her eyes, and he took his hands away from her wounds for a moment. "...Hello..." he whispered, meekly.

"Charlotte! Are you okay?" Hamiri asked, worried about the after-effects of Shekinah's work.

Rosalie and Xavier both saw her awaken, and they were glad. Both smiled their greetings to her, hoping she was truly alright.

Yet Patriah stood by and watched, with a frown on his face. He too was glad she was awake, but he could tell some awful things were rumbling through Charlotte's head.

"...my head hurts," she mumbled, and tried to sit up, dizziness briefly overwhelming her.

"...What... what happened? I just remember... everything suddenly going black... and then it was so brilliantly white... and..." She cut herself off, shuddering violently.

"What did I do?" She looked around worriedly, wringing her hands in a nervous manner.

Joaquin was about to open his mouth, but just then Xavier shot him a look that was hot enough to burn Los Angeles to the ground. Thus the Angel remained silent.

Meanwhile, Patriah awkwardly explained, "That Shekinah-thing...she tried to heal Lux, and she started calling him a sinner and said he had lost his faith...he was freaking-out because he didn't want you to be in pain...and then...she took over you..."

Xavier nodded and continued, "She then started to say she was equal to Christ, and she tried to kill Lux...we stopped her, but only because she started to scream at me when I called her out, and Lux found a way to calm her down..."

"But...you're okay now...Hopefully she won't come back...she was...scary..." Rosalie explained, still a little shaken.

Arael remained silent, watching Charlotte to see how she would react to the news.

He nodded. "Sorry for sounding stupid. It's just, most people cringe when they see a medical needle." he nodded and kept holding him.

He reached over and pulled the needle out himself sitting up shifting into different animals and running hopping or flying around. finally he Shifted back to his human form. "Thank you very much" he ran over and joined Hamiri trying to lean over her shoulder but being so short he kust tugged on her pant leg "so what'd I miss"

"Hey, we're not mad at you. You were tired and she took advantage of you. You just need to rest and not worry too much. We'll make sure she doesn't come back," Hamiri assured her.

"Agreed. And if she does, we'll handle her," Xavier added.

Arael simply listened, wishing he could have done something to help her. However, he had been so afraid of this being that had controlled Charlotte...this being who knew all his sins, all the pain he had allowed Adam to deal, through him. I was afraid, and so I did nothing... he thought, guiltily.

Meanwhile, Lux slept through their conversation, flat on his back and smiling slightly. Perhaps for once he was dreaming of something sweet...

The two beings had very similar desires, in truth.

They just had very dissimilar ways of trying to achieve those desires.

"...Why aren't you angry? I don't understand."

"Because it's not your fault she got out. Like Hamiri said, she took advantage of you. You just happened to vulnerable at the time, because you had been fighting so much and you were exhausted. We know you're a good person, Charlotte," Xavier reassured her.

...no, I'm not.

"...Why doesn't anyone ever get mad at me?" she cried. "I make so many mistakes, I screw up so much, but no one ever yells at me, or, or tries to hit me, or anything... I don't understand, I don't understand, I don't understand! It's not normal! It doesn't seem real! Why does everyone just forgive me so fast?"
