The Florida is hard to believe. Why would it leave Georgia, which is safe and has a legitimate government, to go somewhere that lacks the facilities necessary. Same thing with a destroyer. These aren't fishing skiffs that you can pull up on the beach, cover with a tarp, and be done with. These are sophisticated weapons of war that require actual training to operate and significant facilities to maintain. It doesn't take much for them to become useless hunks of steel.

Not all the subs are at their home port all the time Taylor got all the ships in port-the others would have been on patrol. As noted, they are not defecting so much as they got betrayed from the inside.
