Hello Emperor. The GGDR is Europe's oil producing (and military and economic) giant, with fields running vertically from Austria to Denmark. Therefore, we would like an alliance with Japan. Until your recent discovery, we were producing more than you!
I am going to request that we get mining rights to the Xinjiang region, a far off region inhabited by Muslims. Due to internal troubles, we can supply our own protection.

Greetings President Steinbrück,
I am willing to accept an alliance with you, we will allow you to mine in a relatively small patch of land and will be happy to trade with you. As for the protection, we will only send our forces when absolutely required. I must inform you that every month we will expect your mining area to make sure that you're not going beyond the designated zone we are giving you.

Signed, Emperor Akihito.

Syria is patiently awaiting the emperor's response to Assad's reply.

Assad, however, feels like he's being forcefully thrown to the back of the bus. "If they're just going to dismiss me because it's me, there's going to be hell to pay!" Assad shouts. "I'm not going to go through this crap of convincing other nations I'm not a bad person. You want me to play nice?! Stop ignoring me!"

"What are the kids saying nowadays . . . ?" Assad stares at the very quick response from the Japanese. "Did I just get . . . burned?"

Two of the guards in the office giggle.

"What's so funny?"

"I don't think it's 'burned', sir!" one guard cracks up.

"Then what is it?"

The guards can't answer; they're laughing too hard.

Assad ignores them and throws on his coat, heading to Japan as fast as possible.

From: President Thonavong Thamsing of the USSEA

The USSEA graciously accepts an alliance between our two nations and to strengthen diplomatic bonds between the Japanese Emire and the United States of Southeast Asia.

In the USSEA, rice production overtaking China, becoming one of the leading rice producers and exporters. Energy was also a major production sources, with petroleum coming from Indonesia, Brunei, and the Philippines. Southeast Asia is an economic powerhouse. With over 618 million people, the labor force exceeded Europe. Being at one of the world's major trade routes, power and wealth came from the region as well.

For now, the situation of the nation was stable, but not without civil unrest. On the Malay peninsula, Muslim separatists were fighting local government forces. Over in Myanmar, religious and ethnic violence dot the region. Over on the far side of the nation, separatists also fight on the islands of Timor and New Guinea. While they were frequent, they were continued to be put down by government forces, with harsher control in those regions.

Constantinople, The Hellenic Kingdom

The streets of Constantinople were bustling with people doing their day to day things. Prime Minister Nikolos Isirios watched over the centre of the town from the balcony at the Parliament building, two bodyguards and and advisor standing behind him. Above him, planes were flying into Constantinople Royal Airport and Constantinople North Airport, bringing in thousands of tourists daily to one of Europe's, and maybe the world's, most important and largest cities.

"Mr. Prime Minister, we have received an invitation from the Bulgarians, to join a trade pact with them and Ukraine."
"Have the details on my desk, and get the Chancellor of Economics and the Secretary of State to meet me at my office, at say... 6 PM?"
"Right away Mr. Prime Minister."

Isirios continued to watch the people in Constantinople, before three soldiers ran onto the balcony and grabbed him.

"What the hell are you doing!?" Isirios shouted.
"Sir, we need you to get out of here now, there is a large ter-" the soldier was stopped by the sound of an explosion and screams coming from the city centre. "Shit... come on sir we have to go."

The sound of gunfire and emergency services was all that could be heard below the screams of thousands of civilians. Another explosion was heard near the Neorion Metro Station, and a final explosion, a car bomb, exploded outside of the Great Palace. Constantinople was now under attack, as the Prime Minister, the King and the Cabinet were escorted to various bunkers hidden underneath the Metro lines.

"Mr. Prime Minister we have it all under control."
"How many deaths?"
"Um... we estimate over 200 at the minimum."
"And the maximum?"
"600 to 750..."
"How the hell... could this happen to Constantinople? The capital of this country? It has survived numerous attacks by the Saracens... but never once have they succeeded?"
"We believe it has been a sleeper cell, the timing of the bombs would lead me to believe they've been preparing this for a while. The military is moving in,we've put a temporary gag order on the media, though the cell has already taken control of HNN and reported what they're calling, the Great Victory... Athens, Rhodes, Nicosia, Vlore and Skopje are under martial law, soldiers are moving in now."

Constantinople, the City of the World's Desire, once stood brave and strong, despite being on the border of the Saracens, there had been no successful attack on it in over 700 years, but now they had succeeded, and the future of Constantinople and the Hellenic Kingdom had been changed forever. Soldiers were mobilising across the country, anti-terror raids were occurring everywhere now.

"Sorry." Assad coughs. "I thought you had ordered. I can't decide what to have. I feel . . . so stupid and out-of-place here, and I really don't think I should. My wife thinks I overreact to everything, though, and, uh, she may be right." He pushes his empty coffee cup away. "I know I'm not larger than life. I have personal fears, about stupid things. I have nightmares, and dreams, and I have my likes and dislikes."

He feels like he's saying too much, but he realizes hunger is screwing up his brain, and he puts his head in his hands, letting out an irritated moan.

"Bulgaria is unlike any nation in Europe, never mind trying to find similarities with Syria and The Middle East," she chuckled. Snezha awkwardly pat his back, "there there, I won't go tell the world of your worries. They can keep seeing you as a fearless, qualified leader." After some while of silence, the waitress presented their food. A vegetable based dish with a side of cheese sauce, "I hope you enjoy our wonderful cuisine."

He tries to keep a straight face, but everything inside him was boiling over, and he covered his face with a napkin to make a failed attempt at hiding the fact that he was crying. "The food was . . . alright." He tried changing the subject.

The tsaritsa rolled her eyes, "sure you still don't want that drink?" She chuckled a little and finished up her food, not acknowledging Assad's wailing in case she invoked even more. To think such a simple metaphor could reduce a man to such a state.

Snezha assumed he had attempted suicide after a while and ordered some men into the bathroom. No one should take that long in a bathroom unless they're climbing out the window to dine and dash. Considering Snezha was paying, there was little chance Assad was up to such a thing.

"Sir yes sir," the men quickly leave in perfectly disciplined and uniform fashion. They return to Snezha to convey his message, but the ruler was to busy reading of her phone. Terror attack, in Constantinople no less. Horror and shock was plastered to her face as her men kept droning, but she could not bare to listen.

Assad comes out five minutes later, pretending to adjust his pants. "OK, look, I--what's wrong?" He saw the shock on her face and felt terrible. "Look, I didn't mean to have . . . you know, an outburst, I was just---" He realizes that's not what's bothering her. He steals a glance at her phone, and quietly sits next to her. He's not entirely sure what to say or do, and he gently puts his arm around her. "I'm sorry," he whispers.

Snezha turned to a guard, "take yourself and four others to the parliament, tell defence minister Bogdhan to increase border checks on The Hellenic Kingdom's borders. All suspicious individuals are to be detained, with or without reason. They are then to be turned over to Hellenic National Authorities. Understood?" The guard bowed and left, leaving Snezha to sigh and lean back in her chair. "You shouldn't apologise for things that are not your fault or out of your control. You also shouldn't put your arm around strange Bulgarian women, what ever would your wife think?" She chuckled and was joined by a guard in laughter. The tsaritsa clicked her fingers and she was presented with gin.

Barcelona, Catalonia, Catalan Republic
A soccer match in the National Arena in Barcelona between Barcelona FC and Girona FC stopped abruptly when gunshots were heard inside the arena. A group of Spanish-speaking terrorists has killed two security guards and 40 bystanders with Z84s and Ruby pistols. The Catalan security police organization RPB (Republican Protection Bureau), Barcelona Police Service and the Catalan counter-terrorist police unit GIPA has been sent to take down the terrorists. Two terrorists were killed and the rest surrendered to the authorities. The terrorist attack became a big news in the entire world. Anti-Spanish sentiment continues because of the attack and the match in Barcelona has been cancelled.

Balearic Islands, Catalan Republic
The Balearic Islands are stricken by pro-Spanish protests, which results in violent clashes with the Catalan authorities and anti-Spanish groups.

Assad turned red. "Well--she wouldn't know . . ." Embarrassment makes him flush with heat. I'm being laughed at. His stomach knots up and he glances at her. "I didn't mean to . . . I don't . . . I . . . I should go hide in the bathroom again." He can't, though; he's too embarrassed and ashamed to move.

"Then why haven't you moved your arm yet?" Snezha smirked and sipped her gin, she waved her hands so her guards were given drinks as well. Snezha firmly believed that guard contentment was of utmost importance. "Seriously though, if you get any redder I'll have to force you to drink."

He moves his arm. "Please, don't force me to drink . . . my--my stomach is a little unsettled." Assad nervously hides his arms in his coat. "Look, I've said sorry a number of times, and I don't feel like you're accepting my apologies." He sighs. "I can't sit here anymore. I'd like to take a walk." He glances at the guards, feeling like he'd be shot at any moment.

"Noting fixes tummy trouble like a stiff drink, but fine, we shall walk." She stood and dropped a coin purse on the table and made for the door. "You will have to forgive me, I never accept unnecessary apologies. You have nothing to say sorry for, and nothing to fear. Here you do at least."

"Well, the last thing I want is for people to think I'm heartless. That's all everyone thought I was a long time ago. Of course I forgive you, but, I always get nervous in a foreign country, especially while during the war. How do you think it would feel traveling outside your country while everyone else hated you? It's not a good feeling at all." He doesn't look up while walking. "And one more thing, simply because I actually paid attention in biology, a 'stiff drink' does not settle an upset stomach. In fact, it makes it worse."

Franco-Iberian Empire

Emperor Theobald II grinned at the newspaper article containing the Anti-Spanish terrorists in Catalonia, this was the perfect opportunity for an intervention, and thus, he began to write an excellently worded email to the rulers of Catalonis.

To: Whoever rules Catalonia
From: Emperor Theobald II de Dax of the Franco-Iberian Empire

Greetings and salutations!

It seems that you have problemswith terrorists in Catalonia, and thus, we would like to intervene on your behalf, so, what do yoy say?

Signed, Emperor Theobald II.
