New Rob Halfordia wrote:Race name: Vestibulum
Race standard/average appearance: Often humanoid beings made of various energies, often with metal suits.
Race Specific abilities: The Vestibulum are made of various types of energy and substances, stemming from a cosmic force called "The Unknown". Each one has different abilities, with some having abilities to manipulate heat, some being able to manipulate pressure and a myriad of other things. This leads to some being more powerful than others. A Vestibulum with control of weak force or gravity would have a large advantage over a Vestibulum with control over sound.
Because they are made of energy, many Vestibulum must contain themselves in a metal casing, though some are able to maintain humanoid form without casing, or with very little. For those who need it, they can be dispatched by destroying the metal suit, causing them to fragment and fall apart, their energy scattering. However, those who can maintain their being must have it manually torn apart to die, often through incredibly powerful force.
Homeworld name: Orbis
Lore:
The Vestibulum are a race not based off of carbon, or even metal, but instead, energy. They are, in fact, inorganic, as they are simply fragments of a great universal energy called "The Unknown". The Vestibulum worship The Unknown, as it is what gives them life, and what sustains their planet.
However, it's not a world of harmony, but instead ceaseless conflict. While The Unknown is the center of worship, the Vestibulum understand little of how it works, or even the nature of its power or existence in the universe. Because of this, two main factions exist, the Knights of the Unknown, and Stone's Reach. These factions came to be in the early days of Orbis, however, they were at first one group, The Knights of Stone's Reach. They had one primary objective, to safeguard the people of Orbis, and to discover the secrets of The Unknown. Near the end of their existence, there were nearly ten million Knights, constituting 10% of the population of Orbis. There was never one singular leader, but instead, a council, who came to decisions on their own.
However, within the council, there was eventually a schism that occurred, for unknown reasons. One Vestibulum Knight, named Tenebris, began to publicly speak against the other Knights. He claimed to have spoken to The Unknown, and claimed further that it told him that it was upset with the Vestibulum trying to unlock its secrets. Eventually, he gained majority support in the Knights, with slightly more than half of them supporting his cause. Tensions continued to grow, until war broke out, and a schism occurred. Those in support of Tenebris, whose new title became "Voluntas Dei" became the new Knight's of the Unknown, whereas those fighting for Stone's Reach took on the name of exactly that.
Despite the numbers advantage, the new Knights were eventually pushed out of Stone's Reach, and forced to settle the land in the western sections of the planet. They came to control vast swaths of land, albeit, empty wastelands, while the fortified Stone's Reach retained little territory, but nigh impenetrable land, with abundant natural resources. With nearly 70% of inhabitable Orbis under control by the Knights, their population began to rapidly increase. They began to number in the billions, whereas the population of Stone's Reach never increased beyond hundreds of millions.
Despite this, Stone's Reach was well walled, and where it wasn't, vast mountain ranges protected it, meaning that it hadn't lost territory in long periods of time. In fact, it only gained territory since the Great Schism, taking small bits of land at a time. Living in these outskirts was considered extremely dangerous, however, since there was no major walls or boundaries to protect its inhabitants.
Despite sections being inhabitable, Orbis is not a perfect planet. While its inhabitable section has the same amount of area as the surface of Mars, that only constitutes 5% of Orbis, a circle of land around the North Pole of the planet, with Stone's Reach at the center, and massive mountains at the edges. Outside of this valley, exists an uninhabitable world, a literal hell. Few have ever ventured to even see the outside, and even fewer return. Those who do often use a similar choice of words. Lifeless, apocalyptic, hellish. It's a land of fire and magma, with a sort of energy which is caustic to the Vestibulum, like anti matter, making it near impossible to survive. it is possible for them to travel outside for around two hundred miles without serious effects, but beyond that, special metal suits are needed to survive.
But, in recent times, areas bordering the Outside have reported strange sounds coming from beyond the mountains. Not only that, but entire settlements, along with their populations, have disappeared entirely, with no traces of life. Many believe it to be The Unknown, angry with the quarreling Vestibulum. However, others say they've seen strange beings wandering around the outlying settlements, who don't resemble anything they've ever seen. Many have taken to calling these creatures Outsiders, believing them to be walkers of the hellplains that exist beyond the mountains of which encircle the habitable land of Orbis.
As it stands during the present, Stone's Reach is prosperous, having a strong footing in the inhabitable world, despite the holding far less land than the Knights of the Unknown. However, with a newly named Voluntas Dei, one with incredible ability, it's hard to tell what could happen, given the inefficient leadership of Stone's Reach.

Staten Island's native son, Rip Valentine was a rising star in Muay Thai and kickboxing, becoming a highly anticipated youth and scouted by various organizations. From ages twelve to eighteen, he had recorded only four losses spread out over those six years, but tragedy would strike soon after a scheduled fight. Racking up another win, Rip was walking home through Stapleton when he happened upon a robbery. Feeling an overwhelming desire to intervene, Rip socked one man and wrestled the other to the ground, eventually choking him out. The victim had ran off at that point, and Rip resumed his journey home.
A block away from the incident, Rip was struck from behind by a vehicle, driven by the men he had just fought with - Who then fled the scene. Rushed to the emergency room a few minutes later, Rip suffered serious damage, enough to put his future career in jeopardy. When he awoke, however, Rip wasn't ashamed of his choices, and in fact found a new calling: Heroism. During his year-long process of physical therapy, he discovered that he had exceptional powers, further proving his new goal as the right one.
Calling himself Jump Man, Rip took Staten Island by storm with his heroics as crime rates perished, becoming hero of the people. Another would-be superhero had arisen around the same time he had, a high-tech woman named Rocket Girl. After an initial air of tension and mistrust, the two have become partners in defending Staten Island from threats large and small, Jump Man being the muscle while Rocket Girl became the brains.

Born and raised in Todt Hill, Sarah Rider was the daughter of a wealthy shipping magnate and knew hardly any struggle growing up. However, her fathers' shipping industry was a front for his large drug peddling schemes, becoming a notorious and extremely wealthy drug kingpin up and down the East Coast. Spurned by her fathers' secrecy and out of simple teenage rebellion, Sarah began to have designs on becoming a foil to her dad's illegal trade. She was smart and very talented in design, partly from natural instincts and from privately funded education. She had expressed interest in working for either Hammer Industries or Stark Industries, but found a new hobby during a test run of her rocketry equipment.
Her personalized rocket boot system gave sustained flight for an extended period of time at high speeds, so Sarah Rider did what any idealistic youngster dreamed of, and became a hero. Dubbed "Rocket Girl" by the press, her arsenal expanded over time to include the boots, gauntlets, and helmet as signature facets of her crime-fighting attire. However, she became introduced to a rival hero from the other side of Staten Island known as Jump Man. Raised poor and with a bad-boy persona, Rocket Girl had a strong distaste for the hero, but was slowly smitten by his moral compass and passion. Eventually, the two became an inseparable team, defending the island together.
- Enhanced Condition: Resulting from her own experiments, Rocket Girl is able to "boost" her own body to handle the stresses of high-speed flight and vicious impacts generated by her equipment. Using nanobots, she's able to take a serious hit for her frame and size.
- High-Tech Exoskeleton: From her boots, gauntlets, and helmet, Rocket Girl is empowered with a visual scanner and heads-up display, power fists able to crack apart buildings with a single punch, and fly at high speeds. The devices are all of her own design and made by herself, which she keeps in fighting shape and in top-quality.
- Mechanical Intuition: The basis for her design and creation of the Rocket Girl Boots, Rocket Girl Gauntlets, and Rocket Girl Helmet comes Sarah's ability to create and manufacture technology, not to mention her nanomachine-based condition.
