From the creator of the award-winning RP series, To Kill a God, comes a new supernatural RP.
If only sorrow could build a staircase, or tears could show the way,
I would climb my way to heaven, and bring him back home again.
-Suicide Season
Synopsis
What if one could cry so deeply, so heavily, that they created a "Staircase to Heaven" that your soul could travel upon? Well, this is our reality. For Heaven and Earth are not as separated as we once thought.
But Heaven is truly Hell. It is a place of judgement and wrath, a hellish Purgatory, cleansing sinners through pain and suffering. And those who die are sent immediately here to be purged, led onward amidst screaming and gnashing of teeth through the thirteen levels of Heaven towards the Primum Mobile, the center of Heaven. It is here before the Judgement Seat of Gabriel the Aeon where the dead are given their final sentence, some to be sent to Empyrean, the abode of the Divine Aeons and Angelic Host, where they will be the eternal spirit-slaves of the Host. And all the rest will be sent to the Divine Machine Cathar, their souls drowning in a sea of acid tears, burning slowly away until they are fully purged of iniquity. All the dissolved souls intermingle and mix, losing all their former individuality and personality, and slowly flow into the center of the machine. There they are pressed together and reformed into new spirits, who are then prepared for reincarnation on Earth.
But if your tears build a staircase to Heaven, you can search through all these levels for the one you lost. But there are many who stand in your way, for the souls of the Living are not meant to tread the lands of Heaven. To end your journey, there are Demons, Lost Souls, and many other monstrous beings whose sole goal it is to consume you. But if you are strong enough, if you can survive and even consume your enemies, you may gain the eye of the Angelic Host. If you prove yourself to the Aeons, they will give you the opportunity to break your loved one free from the afterlife, and send their soul back to Earth to be reborn without losing their personality. But in doing so, you must sacrifice your own soul eternally for theirs, becoming a Gladiator of Empyrean, fighting to the death in the Coliseum for the eternal pleasure of the Divines. If this is too high a price for their freedom, you may sacrifice your loved one to Cathar, and thus gain ascension into the Host as a Virtu, or lowest level Angel.
Is the soul of the lost worth dying for? Is it worth an eternity of pain, violence, and slavery? Or will you sacrifice your loved one to ascend into the Host, and become a near-god?
Atman
As you enter Heaven upon the Staircase, you are confronted by a hallway lined by masked ghosts. These are the Atman, guardians of the Gate to Heaven. Each mask represents an emotion: sorrow, happiness, serenity, bitterness, wrath, and so on. You must take the mask of one of these Atman (or several, causing them to fuse into one), and bring it with you on your journey. Wearing this mask transforms you into a being of Twilight, a creature neither fully light nor dark, but a mix of both. To become stronger, you must kill and eat the monsters and demons that run free within Heaven, your mask swallowing their souls and gaining light. But if you dare to do so, you may also attack and consume the Wanderers, the souls of the human dead, cannabalizing their spirits. In doing so, you will begin to lose your own soul to encroaching darkness, ultimately becoming a demon. It is your choice. But either way, the way of light or darkness, you may gain the attention of the Host, and be given the chance to rescue the one you lost.
A Word from Lith
Hello all! Lith here. Its been a while, but thank God I can actually get back into NS now.
I've been working on this little story idea for a few months, and I decided that for my first RP of this year, it should be this one. Obviously, this story is not quite ready to begin yet. I need to flesh it out more, especially the different levels of Heaven, the lore, monsters, things of that nature. But if I get some help here, we should be able to get this up and running pretty quickly.
Now, this is going to be a bit more...serious minded than most of the RPs I've created. I am hoping this to be a little more dark and tragic, although I'm up for morbid humor or little bright spots here and there. But overall I would like the tone to be a bit dark and sad. And blue. (Grief, gotta have some lame humor every now and then. )
So, I hope you all can join me on this adventure!

DISCLAIMER
I am a Christian. So please bear in mind that this RP is not an anti-religious story by any means. It is a purely made-up fantasy, and shouldn't be taken as a slap in the face to any religion whatsoever.
Also, I would really be grateful if ya'll could keep the OOC chatter away from bashing religious views whatsoever. I'm not interested in causing those kinds of brawls here, and I may very well boot you if you cause problems of that nature.
