Events
Baltic Union: The new government's proposed defense budget has lead to mass protests across the nation's major cities, all with a major complaint: that the defense budget takes away from possible investment into welfare and poverty reduction programs, citing recent studies claiming 1 in 5 Latvians are at risk of poverty. It goes without saying, the Lithuanians have seen what little trust they had invested into the Baltic Union proposal shrink further.
Israel: The past few days have seen a large increase in Palestinian attacks on Israeli soil and while this includes normal rocket attacks new and more bold offensives including a RPG attack on the Minister of Home Front's convoy, terrorist organizations based in Palestine have also started suicide attacks in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem but much like Egypt, Israel was about to get a real taste of firepower as the same group attacking Egypt starts there "Invasion" of Israel through Gaza and the Egyptian border who received weapons from Unknown sources. The forces are estimated to number in a few hundred and possibly over 1000 and are also equipped with heavy weapons but the difference is that these forces hide in large public areas making it hard for Israeli forces to find them at times and when they do, most commit suicide via bombing causing a multitude of casualties.
North korea: The event that takes place was well expected to happen by many in and outside the country but not this fast. A major famine strikes the small country almost unexpectedly as North Korea attempts to supply it's people, while at the same time giving them tastes of the free market economy found in the West. Out of a total population of approximately 22 million, somewhere between 2,400,000 and 3,500,000 people are left starving and the situation seems to get worse and worse almost to the extent of crisis level.
China: China is also in a situation this one involving Water. According to the World Bank about 13% of urban water users receive water at inadequate pressure. Furthermore, 60% of China's 661 cities face seasonal water shortage, and over 100 cities have severe water constraints. Contamination of drinking water from feces is a critical health problem in China, as in other developing countries, that causes serious illnesses such as diarrhea and viral hepatitis. A recent survey by UNICEF in 11 provinces found that over half of all drinking water samples contained unacceptably high levels of bacteria. Currently, China is facing a shortage of water due to climate and rapid development. in 2013, China "for the first time issued water quotas to every province, setting targets for annual consumption by 2015".
The lack of effective policy's has lead to a major water shortage in certain provinces in china and it is only getting worse as people look for safe water to use for drinking, farming and such in light of this the situation only got worse as Shanghai declared a almost state of emergency as the already polluted Tai Lake which the city rely on was deemed a major health risk to anyone who drank from it meaning that the city was left basically dry or stuck using deadly water and this by 2016 was starting to pop up in more places both rural and Urban.....
Mexico: The past administration's carelessness has lead to the worse air quality in Mexico City in a decade. 20,000 are reported dead last year from health complications linked to pollution. New austere no-driving days, investment in the city's buses, banning of car sales, and the completion of a new metro line later this month are expected to lessen the burden on the city, but nothing is sure.
Russia: According to the IMF, the Russian economy was already in recession from early 2014 mainly as a result of the 2014 Crimean crisis and the subsequent capital flight. But this turned out to be false and the IMF revised its classification from contraction and it forecast 0.4% growth in 2015 and 0.2% through Q1 of 2016.
In 2012 there were an estimated 16,798 homicides in the country but by 2016 that number was 14,087 showing a decrease furthermore both Human and Drug trafficking are at a all time low for the nation as the crime rate drops up to 1.6 percent in 2016 mostly because of strict and effective policy's reinforces with firm action from the Government. Could all things bestarting to pick up for the Old dog of the east?
Donetsk People's Republic: Poor east Ukraine.... the world looks down at it except Russia and they are constantly fighting their Western counterpart..... till earlier this year when the Ukrainian government announced a end to major operations against the area and a major ceasefire by both side due to rising cost and casualties. While Putin and Poroshenko parley, life in the former SSR is becoming normal again as the cities rebuild and repopulate, but complete reversal from war is still very far off with an estimated 70% below the poverty line, thousands displace and relying on the militia's rationing for food.
Sweden: The small Scandinavian nation has been in shit the past little while and nothing seemed to change as while the crackdown on migrant's leads to all out warfare and a strong international condemnation, particularly from the Eurozone. With mounting tensions, France attempts to lead a military coalition to topple the Swedish government. Insult to injury, it seems either the Russian government or Russian arms dealers seem to be supplying the migrant in Sweden with anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons. The effect on Swedish armor and aircraft is horrorific. Protests by Swedish citizens to end the war, ironically, do nothing.
