I'm not sure how you even got into the senate if you can't stand to argue."

"Senator, debating is not the same as simply yelling at each other. And if you want to question my ability to debate, look at the senate. Before I came this debate, I was currently in the Senate floor with you and others talking about the bill that as mentioned before. I am only suggesting that we might want to settle down and become civil, dont you think?"

"While I agree that we need to rein in this debate, it's a bit ridiculous to vilify us all as senators when you yourself have one of the biggest mouths in the senate. Speaking of order, moderators, could you actually do your jobs please? I know how you love us attacking each other, probably gives you plenty of footage for the attack ads your democratic buddies will put out on us in November, but I think this has hit the upper limit."

Dimitri laughed out loud at that one
"Now, now. If this was the Senate Floor, there would be no chance at order. But I must agree, where are the moderators when you need them?"

"On my first day in office, I will lay down the law. We will not tolerate other countries pushing us around, nor will we tolerate regional governments literally disobeying the federal law. If it's something that should be up to the states, then I will leave it as such, but we're going to make sure everyone knows that the law is binding once again, after this failed presidency. In addition, I'm going to get the wheels turning once again for the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository. Now, I'll spare the explanation because I don't want to bore you all to death, but suffice to say, the Cross administration will create a lot of jobs, so long as you voters put a cross in that little box right next to my name on the ballot. I don't want to see the country I know and love become Sweden, or any sort of socialist country. America's culture and ways are its own and they will stay that way under my presidency. I'm not going to finish this statement with a laugh line, because your lives aren't a joke, America, and neither is this election, though the democrats are doing a good job of making it out to be. And those of you watching this from Iowa, please go out and caucus for me, because I can guarantee to you that I know what it's like living from paycheck to paycheck, having to decide how you're going to keep the family farm. My policies are going to reflect that, because I'm not going to serve my own interests, nor the interests of my donors, and I won't even be serving the interests of God himself. No, viewers, there's one group of people that I care about even more, and that is you, America. Good night."

"Senator Dimitri had to duck out early, so i'm up next."

"Well, that's certainly a large question. On my first day of office, I would immediately start working with Congress on getting policies like tax credits for working class Americans and paving a road to citizenship for illegal immigrants a reality. I'd also work with military officials on gauging our priorities in the World of today defence-wise. One goal I haven't spoken of much of mine is to pull troops out of Europe. We have, continously since WW2, had thousands of troops defending Europe. It's high time they pull up their bootstraps and manage of their own defence - which they are wholly capable of doing. This would allow us to restation these men and women either overseas in the ongoing war on Terror, or to bring them home to their families where they belong. The last priority of my first day that i'll discuss is simple - i'd sign an executive order mandating that all Federal agencies must pay men and women the same salary for the same amount of work. If we want our society to move forward, the Federal Government needs to set an example. Good night, everyone, and up next is Senator Breckenridge."

"My first day in office, America, would start with you."

"My first day would be personally awnsering the phone call of every American in the nation who was intrested and communicating directly with you on the issues that matter most. That is how I would decide my initial priority.
Not through some special interest request or a decision for personal gain, but through you, because unlike many running for this illustrious office, I am aware that the president is your representative.

The president is not a king, passing unlawful orders and hiding in his throne room while the people cry for help.

The president is a representative of the American Dream, The American Will to move forward and thrive in a world where that is not always possible.

And the president, I hope, will be me.
Because I know that together, we can create a rejuvenated America.
Thank you."

The Columbus Democratic Debate
Washington US Political RP

Hello and welcome to the First Democratic Presidential Debate. We are here at with CNN Ohio, specifically CNN Columbus in association with Twitter. We are here at the Ohio State auditorium with the candidates soon to appear. We thank the Ohio Democratic Party for helping us coordinate this debate on short notice as the original debate location, Philadelphia, had to be cancelled as the current snowstorm hitting the East Coast threatened travel. We send our best wishes to the families on the East Coast. Either way, our candidates will be asked questions from helping veterans and other domestic problems, to foreign policies such as Israel and Palestine. We will also be keeping up with questions tweeted at out CNN twitter page which we will make sure to ask. We will be back after this short break.

This is the first Democratic Presidential Debate for Washington US Political RP. Note that only those who signed up in the OOC and announced their democratic presidential campaign can talk here. Otherwise, keep to the IC.

Rules are the same as those listed on the OOC & IC

Note that these two rules are not replacing the general rules, but are additional rules that apply in this thread.

1- The Moderator is King…but because the moderator is also a CO-OP, please respect our choices. If you feel something has gone wrong, please contact the OP - thank you.

2- IC doesn't mean misbehavior. This a debate, there are plenty of debates and stupid people who don't want to listen to you. So a little crude language in debates is tolerable. Do not take this rule as an excuse to say racist or any other kind of offensive swearing. It's still PG-13. To be sure, keep swearing to a minimum.

The Democratic Debate: Who came up on top and who didn't
The hecticness of the Democratic Debate ranging from being late to outrageous plans

By Oswald Penelope

The Democratic Debate held in Columbus was one of the most craziest debates that has occurred in a while. It ranged for late candidates to what seemed bad math. Not to mention the interruptions some of these candidates did and the subtle attacks conducted. So let's see which candidates proved themselves the best.

Senator Nudeau - Now Senator Nudeau is one of the strongest contenders. He practically hit on every topic at the debate and showed up many of his opponents. His plan on healthcare was the most giving and is expected to give him many votes from states with more people below the poverty line or who currently are lacking proper healthcare. He does seem the most radical of the Democrats with his statement: I would not let a bill outlawing illegal immigration to pass, and I promise that I will veto such a bill if it ever makes it to my desk in the oval office" This does place him in a very good position to win in states with large Hispanic population as he continues to be the most advocating of this issue. His plan for the Middle East did seem a little rounded as once again he incorporated nearly all of what his opponents have said. He was a bit light on homosexuality which caused some alarm but he managed to gain momentum yet again with his closing statement.

Senator Goran - Senator Goran used a different strategy during the debate, one of emphasizing the American dream he accomplished, the same one he wants to make possible. While it seemed a bit cliche, he has used to in an efficient way. He took a hit with what many described as a cheap veteran aid approach that was focused not on veterans but on the funds. His views on immigration where weaker than Nudeau's but much more clearer and the most likely to attract votes. His plan for fighting ISIS just seems to be a reintroduction of the current president’s plan and is certainly one of his weak spots. He was the only candidate though to speak on Jerusalem and the two state solution which made up for his previous reduance in foreign policy. His strongest point on removing the corporate welfare in politics was a huge success though and many believe it will be the focus for his campaign.

Senator Wells - Now Wells is going to need a reinvention of their policy. Her outrageous plan for renewable energy has not only provoked backlash but talk of another president which will increase the national debt. She seemed to go the other way when asked about veterans pushing for what has been the cheapest plan ever proposed since the 1980’s. She managed to recover from it a bit by elaborating before Mr. Finelli made a jab at her and took the center of attention. Her healthcare plan was the classic democrat view but she was the first on the stage to leap off into Middle Eastern policy specifically the Syrian refugee crisis. Now, as she is an open lesbian, her support for gay rights was a normal point for her. But she caught the eyes of many when she mentioned working towards expanding these rights and more such as the gender gap in the Arab states. This gender gap was also the primary focus in her concluding statement increasingly highlighting her feminist yet moderate views.

Representative Finelli - Dom Finelli was a surprise candidate to many and even fewer though he would actually be able to gain support. His views and strong support for small businesses has created a large voter base for him. The healthcare and immigration plans he proposed were also the strongest of all in the race and continue to be extremely sensible compared to others. His gay right views were also in his favor but Senator Wells still overshadowed him and was the major focus of that issue. Finelli’s concluding statement could not have been more different then by attacking the NSA and this is sure to bring many independent voters to his side.

Senator Nemov - Nemov was the latest candidate to not just join in the race but to also arrive at the debate. He did manage to hit on every question asked previously with a strong immigration policy that was detailed heavily and a Middle Eastern policy which set up his concluding statement of a non-interventionist. He claimed in the closing statements that he believed the US should focus more on supporting functional states and helping create solutions rather than just doing it ourself and spreading ourselves thin. As he was late, he answered only a few more questions which most of them being about gay rights in which he is expected to be seen as weaker as he claimed to be an advocate but also claimed that the court case had violated state & federal rights. Either way, how his campaign plays out has yet to really be understood completely.

Overall, the democratic candidates are growing in diversity with practically no one candidate sharing similar views. This is sure to make divides easier to spot and bring what is usually a stable voter base into chaos and splits.

In the back room, sits Daniel J Nudeau. He throws out his plastic cup of coffee, which he had just taken the last gulp of. Now, he awaits the calling of his name. This is the most intense moment of Senator Nudeau's life, as this is the first time he will be seen on the national stage. Finally, it arrives:

Introducing... Senator Daniel J Nudeau of Kansas!

Nudeau took one last look at his attire, and then walks out to the stage, with huge applause from the native Ohioans, who can lean quite left. Nudeau takes his spot on the far left, next to where Senator Goran will be standing for the debate.

"Michigan Senator Zara Goran!"

Zara Goran steps out on stage to a steady stream of applause all around, with some parts of the audience cheering more loudly than others. A few pockets of people try to get a chant started - "ZA-RA! ZA-RA! ZA-RA!" - but most of the crowd abstains from that level of enthusiasm. Waving and smiling, she places herself behind the podium to Nudeau's right.

Well...My campaign is based upon reform and freedom. For the entirety of my life I have fought for LGBTQ rights,Women's rights and Minority rights. We have something called the American Dream,That everyone should get equal opportunity to succeed, however, republicans hate it,but us Democrats love it,or atleast should.Thats why I am and always have fought for Education,Rights and Protections.Another tenet of my campaign is Environmental protection, that's why I will build 1.5 Trillion Solar Panels and increase regulation on Fossil fuels, making them cleaner to use and restricting their use and enacting cap and trade.i final tenet is no barriers."

“Thank you, Lionel. I was born in Dearborn, Michigan, to Kurdish immigrants from Iraq. My father had been a goatherd; my mother was a weaver. I put myself through college and paid for my Master’s Degree by working part-time as a bartender. That’s the sort of goal that people my daughters’ age are struggling to attain. All across America, working families are finding it harder to pay for medicine and operations, send their kids to college, and pay down their mortgages. American jobs continue to be shipped overseas, and large corporations discard our environmental rights for personal gain. The Republicans remain silent, clinging to pro-corporate partisan falsehoods and the special interest groups who fund their campaigns. This is not the America we should be leaving to future generations. We must take action with regards the serious threat of climate change, implement a single-payer healthcare system, raise the minimum wage to $15/hour, give young families paid parental leave, and put an end to the bankrolling of politicians by lobbyists and corporations. My mission as president will be to present to the world the vision of America that brought my parents here: a land of justice, democracy, and equal opportunity for all.”
