Rome: Cristo is god-emperor and has a legion of rifle-armed elite men.
China: Cuprum helped China defeat the Mongols but got exiled and then staged a coup with guns.
China-California: I used nanobots to get rich in China then built a giant ship to bring colonists to California and make a diesel/steam powered San Francisco.
Crete: I dunno
Africa: Some guy is making a town with future tech.
Rhodes: Tried to be independent but Cristo messed them up and now the leader is in Scotland.
India/Himalayas: G-Tech is being a dick to the natives with future tech.

I wanted to have Chinese immigrants. The Chinese are used to being under a central government, as opposed to the natives who have been relatively unchanged except for the invasion of a foreign culture every millennium.
BUT KEEP IN MIND that each orange dot is only a settlement/fortress, not a city. Only San Francisco is a real city.

Oh, at first only about five thousand. But immigrants are constantly coming in, especially now since the Emperor of China (Cuprum) has freed all the serfs.
Wait, you stuffed five thousand people on five steamers and crossed the Pacific? Damn. You got lucky with Cristo's mercy.

No, but they're programmable. So I can make a bunch of little parts and fit them together to make a bigger thing, like I did to make more machine guns.
And Riley understands the ten thousand parts needed to make, say, a sophisticated rocket engine? Down to their dimensions, metallurgical composition, and forging conditions?

Oh no, but that's the issue, isn't it? He has to make infrastructure to make infrastructure to make infrastructure to make infrastructure to make infrastructure to make the final product.

Indeed; my point is that the first stage of infrastructure is more complicated that one would expect. Even a steam boiler is a very difficult thing to build from first principles without blowing yourself up a half dozen times. There are reasons even the geniuses of the past took lifetimes to develop such machines.

Do you think if a German engineer sat down with a Roman who believed in the ether and the four elements and tried to explain the rocket engine on a V2, the Roman would understand? The Roman has to understand metals first. And then alloys aside from those created by chance. Then elements, liquefying oxygen, the rotation of the earth on her axis, the principle of controlled ignition, fuel mixture ratios, spot welding, rivets, acetylene torches, projectile motion, fuses, stress fracturing, brittle strain, thermal expansion and metal deformation, and so on. There are so many concepts that go on to each of our concepts that by and large as modern men we simply aren't even aware exist.
Edit: So you see, even a single supergenius doesn't really do anything except slightly alleviate the problem.
