I wanted to have Chinese immigrants. The Chinese are used to being under a central government, as opposed to the natives who have been relatively unchanged except for the invasion of a foreign culture every millennium.

China-California: I used nanobots to get rich in China then built a giant ship to bring colonists to California and make a diesel/steam powered San Francisco.

Crete: I dunno

Africa: Some guy is making a town with future tech.

Rhodes: Tried to be independent but Cristo messed them up and now the leader is in Scotland.

India/Himalayas: G-Tech is being a dick to the natives with future tech.

Oh, at first only about five thousand. But immigrants are constantly coming in, especially now since the Emperor of China (Cuprum) has freed all the serfs.

Big ships man.

Big ships.

I spent a while bribing the administrator of Suzhou to expand the docks, and my nanobots helped a lot.

Plus my flagship was basically two already giant ships stuck together by a deck, like the Tessarakonteres.

But yeah. Luckily that's far in the past.

Nice trying to read through the IC. My guy just landed. Anyways, this is fine right, not too much bloody?
The blade stabbed clean through the guard, the blade to the hilt. Vaz looked the guard in the eyes, after being stealthy for so long it grew tiring and angering, what better way to vent frustration. The guard was trying to say something but the wound through his lung would not allow so. Vaz scowled before slamming down on the guard's knee, breaking it and jolting him down allowing the blade to shear him in almost two. Vaz looked at the body on the ground, "What a bloody mess."

No, but they're programmable. So I can make a bunch of little parts and fit them together to make a bigger thing, like I did to make more machine guns.

And Riley understands the ten thousand parts needed to make, say, a sophisticated rocket engine? Down to their dimensions, metallurgical composition, and forging conditions?

Oh no, but that's the issue, isn't it? He has to make infrastructure to make infrastructure to make infrastructure to make infrastructure to make infrastructure to make the final product.

Indeed; my point is that the first stage of infrastructure is more complicated that one would expect. Even a steam boiler is a very difficult thing to build from first principles without blowing yourself up a half dozen times. There are reasons even the geniuses of the past took lifetimes to develop such machines.

Well, to be fair, Cristo points out that we're all super educated in science and math, and depending on the expertise of your individual character, maybe even in engineering and architecture. So I took the simple things as rather easy. Especially because I had my quantum computer laptop during that time, which is the reason I was able to make that immigration fleet so quickly with so little labor. Now that he destroyed my computer I have to make do with baby steps.

Do you think if a German engineer sat down with a Roman who believed in the ether and the four elements and tried to explain the rocket engine on a V2, the Roman would understand? The Roman has to understand metals first. And then alloys aside from those created by chance. Then elements, liquefying oxygen, the rotation of the earth on her axis, the principle of controlled ignition, fuel mixture ratios, spot welding, rivets, acetylene torches, projectile motion, fuses, stress fracturing, brittle strain, thermal expansion and metal deformation, and so on. There are so many concepts that go on to each of our concepts that by and large as modern men we simply aren't even aware exist.

Edit: So you see, even a single supergenius doesn't really do anything except slightly alleviate the problem.

I know they won't be making rockets any time soon. But to make everyone literate with a new Chinese script, to make a rather large class of educated elite, to have the entire point of that elite to be to educate more, to have them experiment as any good scientists does, it basically means that I lay the groundwork for the rest of it all.

And remember, we're immortal. So long as I can stay alive I can continue to educate people. Right now the only person other than me with a modern knowledge of the world is Zhang Heng. But hopefully in some years that may change.

Before I teach things like the origins of the universe I should teach chemistry, because the latter is more useful to the state. You know?

I'm trying to make a bureaucratic and meritocratic geniocracy.
