It's actually in the Database on the OP. "Junk-Folk". They're autonomous piles of junk that, for some bizarre ZONE-y reason, look like living creatures, like dogs or people.

There's no real overriding logic behind it. The imagery of that was just too good to waste.

Well, I know that if a limb gets cut off, a new one would grow in, like a lizard. Just imagine Deadpool's hand from the movie after he cut it off.

Well, as for the ashes, well, I guess they would just start secreting a slime to keep them together until everything is rearranged on a molecular level into basi cells and tissues that will eventually grow back into a normal human.
