So, you can't have any experience in the zone at all? What about on the edge?
My idea was about playing a survivor stuck in the outer rim.
My character was going to be a orphan who's parent died in the chaos.
She lives in her family house located within the zone. Depending on how much the op would let me get away with. I don't want magic powers or anything. She is just someone who has adapted to the zone, but to explain how a little girl is alive and "well" in the zone.
The house is alive and has been protecting her and so has her teddy bear. ( he's like the junk people)

Not saying that you can't have prior experience within the Zone, but from my understanding it was more of a journey to be undertaken by people coming together for one reason or another to risk life and limb venturing into a place they shouldn't be. Plus, considering that the ultimate goal is towards the epicenter, where all the freaky stuff is, I doubt anyone in their right mind would bring a little child with them to that sort of place. I'll let Grestin pass ultimate judgement.

But, alright. I got another idea then if that's too much.
So, we're supposed to be a squad of mercenaries?

We're open to most ideas. Grestin has final say but I'm sure I can give you a general yay or nay in the meantime.

I think it's mainly because most people don't do it right...
Glad to see not a lot of that in here, though.

But it is mostly because military soldier is the easiest way to be a character. You have the skill needed for survival, while civilians usually don't have much, unless they are ex-military.
But playing as civilians are more interesting.

Yes! Sure, military characters have all the skills, but it's so much more interesting when people without the fancy skills are thrown into a situation. It becomes less about a soldier doing what he was trained to do and more so about people stuck in a crappy predicament and what they will do to survive it. At the very least I think military characters should be flawed somehow so that we get more of their human-side rather than their soldier-side.
