Introduction
Eleven years ago, on the Moon, humanity’s biggest dream became true… in that night, when the human colonists made contact with alien lifeforms in the Sacrobosco Crater. But that dream… soon turned into a nightmare…
The Aliens, called BETA(Beings of Extraterrestrial origin which are the Adversary of the human race/"Extraterrestrially-Originating Life, Hostile to Mankind), quickly became humanity’s biggest enemy, slaughtering all humans on the Moon in a brutal one-side conflict. A few years later, the BETA landed in the the Kashgar Autonomous Area near western China, starting their invasion… the countdown for Mankind’s survival or destruction had begun… and the humans, ripped apart by the Cold War, were unable to unite themselves in order to fight… leading to the crushing defeats in the first years.
The year is 1978. The swarms of the BETA hive in Minsk, the Byelorussian SSR, are threatening the entire Eastern Europe, leading to the Warsaw Pact officially requesting help from NATO, temporary stopping the Cold War. Now, in Poland, the desperate West-East Forces have to hold their ground in Gdansk, Warsaw, and Lublin, until the UN Forces can be mobilized... or else, the entire Europe could be lost…
But the aliens aren't the only enemies of the human forces... tensions between the NATO and the WarPac forces are rising, the two failing to reach a common accord, and in the ravaged Poland, Polish rebels led by the Solidarity rise up against the communist regime. Will the human forces be able to hold their ground in these crucial battles? Or will the humans fight between themselves even if this dark situation? That remains to be seen... welcome, to Humanity's Twilight.

Explanation
So, welcome to my roleplay. Humanity's Twilight. Most likely, you are now wondering what this roleplay is supposed to be. Well, you're not the only one. I have no idea what this is either. This was just a random idea I had one day, and I thought that it might be cool, so here it is. This will mostly be a character roleplay, focusing(at least at the beginning), on the members of a NATO-Warsaw Pact Combined Squadron, fighting on the streets of Warsaw against the incoming alien swarm. But of course, the aliens won't the squadron's only enemies. Even if there is peace right now, tensions between the soldiers from the WarPac countries and the NATO countries will exist.. and since they are in the East now, the Westerners are about to fully experience the harsh reality of how life behind the Iron Curtain really is. Behind a desperate Iron Curtain facing an alien invasion, that is. Though, I'm also going to allow certain players to control nations, after all, I'm not here to make the military strategies for all nations involved in this anti-alien war.

Now, some of you might think that this sounds a little familiar, yes, this is inspired by Muv Luv Alternative Timeline, but don't expect it to follow what happens there or anything. I only know a couple of things about that series, and this isn't going to be a Muv-Luv roleplay or anything. I simply thought that the setting was interesting, and I don't know all that much about it. So consider this something else from Muv-Luv, it's not even going to be necessarily anime, since I'm going for a more realistic setting. We'll still have big robots, so don't worry about that though.

And well, if you think this is interesting, make a character, and simply join the slaughter. Let's hope that it will be fun..

World
Yeah, this world is inspired by the Muv Luv Alternative Timeline, so it will be the world there, more or less, considering my low knowledge of that lore, don't expect it to be the same. You can find here a detailed timeline of the events in that world that differ from real life history, and we are currently in 1978. That's where the similarity will probably stop, since there is no guarantee that the events will evolve the same as in what happened there.

To explain this shortly, the humans were a little more advanced in space tech, and had colonies on the Moon. They met aliens, the so called BETA. The aliens weren't friendly at all, slaughtered all humans on the Moon, and landed on Earth. Most conventional weapons only slowed them down, leading to the current desperate situation. Even so, big mechs have been created to fight them, the so called TSF's, and now with the NATO and the Warsaw Pact fighting together, there is a little hope... more or less.

Rules
1. I am the OP, so I am, by all means, a God here. The CO-OP's will be my little underlings, so they will also enjoy some of my divine power. Listen to us, or be impaled.
2. Godmodding will result into a quick and brutal impaling.
3. The general limit for characters shall be three. With a good reason, you will be able to roleplay more characters, but only with my explicit permission.
4. Unless that was already clear, the limit will be of one nation, or one institution per player.
5. Unfortunately, characters are not immortal, so they can die. Of course, that doesn't mean that we'll go on a killer rampage.. yet. Remember that this setting is kinda dark. Though, other players are forbidden from killing other player characters with my or the character's player's permission.
6. Act nice in the OOC. In the IC, your character can act like a complete bastard, but keep it in the IC.
7. Keep any arguments, of any kind, out of this roleplay. Act nice.
8. If you break the rules, you get a strike. Three strikes are a direct ticket to Kolyma.
9. Put some effort in your posts. Try to be creative, and no one liners. One liner=Kolyma.
10. Please listen to the restrictions/instructions of the application.
11. Have fun, and enjoy this world... for as long as it will last.

Equipment: Makarov PM handgun, though may carry a Kalashnikov AKM during field deployments as well as donning his officer's combat uniform. Of course he will also carry other infantry equipment, such as binoculars on field assignments.

Character Bio: While shown to be exceptional in his leadership capabilities, his ties to his father and connections granting him a quick promotion to Captain garnered unsavory emotions with some of his leadership. While it's hardly his fault that his regiment is deployed to Poland, it always seems like his company gets the sh*t end of the stick when it comes to combat assignments. However, each of these hard operations made him a stronger leader and the devotion of his men more fierce.

However, does care first and foremost for the well-being of his company (With which he has bonded with over time), and ultimately loyal to the Soviet Union and untrusting to Western powers.

While some in his regiment do not believe the aliens will advance, Felix is preparing them just in case.

Character Bio: How does one end up in one of the most godforsaken places on earth during a time as dangerous as these? Well, you’d need nerve, elan, and an ill-favoured temper of at least a few superior officers to reach that point. Such is the story of Vasily, the Belarusian-born Spetsnaz operative currently stationed in Warsaw. His life, a tale of thankless hard labour and ever-growing grey areas in a time of oncoming twilight.

Vasily never had anything to do with the army, at first. He was just one of many young students who graduated from Moscow University in 1964. He got his bachelor in biochemistry, and got his doctorate for his research into the effects of various chemicals on enzymes and the human metabolism. Dr. Bylinkin was one of those brilliant minds who just keeps coming up with inventive ways to achieve all kinds of purposes. From 1964 to 1970, Vasily held various positions in various Soviet agencies, including in the food industry, automotive industry and various healthcare laboratories. Eventually, however, he was spotted by a scout of one of the lesser known agencies: The Soviet Special Division for Defence of the Peace, who were looking for new recruits in expectance of BETA hostile actions.

The vague name of the Bureau appeared all too apt for what they were doing: the Soviet Special Division for Defence of the Peace (SODOM in Russian) was a top-secret Warsaw-pact undertaking, which had been preparing for any eventuality. Well, any… The entire division, which was under Spetsnaz control, was centred around the production of and protection against chemical, biochemical and biological weaponry. If it existed within the realm of chemical science, it has passed through the doors of the division, and it had been tested and dissected to make sure the Red Army could defend against it. While the Division had been largely overshadowed by the nuclear program, there was still a lot of work to be done in the field of chemical compounds. Formerly, the labs had been staffed by German captured scientist, but by the time Vasily got there, the majority were from Warsaw pact nations.

During his time in the Division, Vasily underwent heavy training. Not only did he have to read up on all kinds of theories on chemical and biological warfare, as a Spetsnaz scientist, he needed to know how to defend himself. The position he had been granted was highly political, and this was one of those areas that would not be allowed to fall in either US or, god forbid, rebellious hands. They were trained in close-quarters combat, defensive tactics, and door-to-door fighting. Not only that, but they learned a lot about infantry fighting, and how to counter charge, for instance. All to protect their division from falling into the wrong hands.

By 1974, the whole division had changed makeup. No longer was there importance in the human biology. War with the US was not in sight. No, another threat had rained down from the heavens. Learning from the First Lunar War, the entire Soviet military apparatus had been revitalised. Young, progressive officers were put in charge of many operations, just to put the quickest minds to that important task. This was no different in the Division, which began to study alien biology. Like most other projects, though, the Division did not have much success. They developed some gas masks against potential alien weapons, but there was not much to go on. Biological warfare seemed unlikely against those creatures, just because their makeup was so… alien, to use a proper word. However, this was not the end for the Division. A split occurred between two kinds of operatives. One side wanted to focus on defensive measures and possible chemical attacks. The other side, including Vasily, wished for total war to be commenced. By 1976, his beloved Belarus had fallen to the BETA’s, and Vasily held no love for them. He lobbied for the deployment of various prototype viruses to ravage both the hives on earth and the Martian ecosystem. Total annihilation of the enemy through brute force and mass extermination. Rocket strikes against hives, using the most vile biochemical agents they had.

Eventually, Vasily’s side did not win the argument. The threat to the human race was too great, and the Division feared that the BETA’s would unleash even greater hell on earth if they tried engaging in total biological warfare. The ideas were scrapped, many of the viruses frozen, and most of the biochemical agent destroyed (although their factories remained open, just in case). A short shakeup later, orchestrated by the young officers in charge, and Vasily found himself being slowly worked out of the Division. Before he knew it, he was ‘temporarily transferred’ to field work, far behind the battle lines in Europe. Transfer after transfer followed, putting Vasily more and more in harm’s way. Since he was a Spetsnaz operative, he was considered a soldier more than he was considered a scientist. By the start of 1978, Vasily was reassigned for one last time. He was to partake in a joint Warsaw-NATO squadron, fighting for Warsaw. The higher-ups clearly wanted him dead. That is where we find ourselves today.

Personality: Vasily has a curious, scientific soul. He has no love for violence. He just wants to discover the world, and put his knowledge to use. It doesn’t matter where, as long as he can do something useful. He abhors military life, as he sees it as soul-crushingly dull and mundane. If the choice was up to him, he would take a hike to London to join some government agency there. Alas, he is stuck in Warsaw, with nothing but a few stolen books and a few soldiers to keep him company.

Considering the current state of the world, I don't think that there are chances for any super sci-fi inventions to appear.

The only area where technology is really advancing is the area of the Tactical Surface Fighters.
