Italian companies across many sectors such as fashion, furniture, and food have Italy as a staple name in many countries. Another big boost is having some of the world's finest cities. Rome, the eternal city, capital of the greatest empire of all time. Venice was once the trading capital of the world, and great centres of the arts such as Florence also exist in Italy.

Army: The Italian Army comprises 500,000 active troops, with 150,000 in reserve. Having a strong nation is one of the core principles of the INF, and as such the military is held to a high standard. By high standard, they certainly don't mean high training. Two months in boot camp is declared sufficient for most ground troops. Better training however, exists for tanks drivers and artillery officers. 450 Main Battle Tanks, and 250 Light Tanks and approximately 800 artillery pieces of various kinds support the army. You know what.. Not as much hate here..

Navy: The navy is a proud part of the Italian military, and being surrounded by water forces it to be of a good quality. Most of the ships aren't state of the art, but would give any invading force a run for its money. Brief Description of your Economy: Free trade and capitalism are Italy's stance regarding the economy. The innovation and hard work of individuals far passes what can come from inefficient state rule, and letting computers run things. Corporation tax is low, letting businesses put the profit back into themselves to improve things.

History: Italy was hit hard by the collapse. Unemployment soared, and many were upset at the government for letting it happen. The Eurasian War came in 2023, and was 4 years of hardship. Italy provided its fair share to the war effort, with over 300,000 Italians going to fight. Seems high for Italy given your economy and how expensive it must of been logistically. The navy saw considerable expansion during this time, with a joint Italian-Spanish-Greek naval attack on Crimea during the first year of the war. That would not be so great considering the big bad Black Sea fleet. I for one will keep my ships in the North Sea. It almost turned into another Gallipoli, Still have the larger and very scary Black Sea fleet. until a European army to the north destroyed much of the Russian Army fighting there. So this entire group got through to Ukraine and instead of going for Kiev just relieved you first? With Crimea taken, the road became open to Kiev, although it was a bloody fight. Obviously...

One man who was there throughout the battles, was Marco Abrami. Spending most time on the front planning out attacks, and getting right into the battle, he had joined the army to defend the Europe he loved. When he came back to Italy, it was far from the nation he had fought to protect. Unemployment was rampant, the economy was tanking, and the immigrants stank the place. Initially opposed to letting so many foreigners who brought crime and unemployment wherever they went, Marco became straight up hostile to them, and partly blamed them for Italy's woes. Determined to fix things, he and likeminded men formed the Italian National Front in 2030, and promised to fix Italy.

With most of Italy broken from recession, the INF gained support quite quickly. Not quite winning the election, Marco's party, gained the second most seats in parliament, behind the Democratic Party. It was after this result, that the military wing of the INF was formed. They spent their days breaking up riots from the evermore hostile Muslims, and breaking up strikes from left wing protesters. In some of the more rural parts of Italy, numerous people were bullied into voting for the INF, with men in trench coats kidnapping some of the more vocal members of the left.

When the INF finally got into power, things changed. Abolishing the role of Prime Minister, saying it made passing laws too slow and inefficient, Marco became President of Italy, and wielded much power. The first thing he set out on was ensuring the INF remained in power. Gerrymandering took care of some of the swinging parts of Italy, whereas left wing rallies were banned in other parts. Once their power was secure, the INF set about rebuilding Italy. Taxes were cut for businesses and citizens, while unemployment was reduced by massive public works, like rebuilding the broken roads and rundown buildings across Italy. The military was expanded, with thousands drafted into the army.

Muslims, what Marco saw as the ultimate threat to Italy, were driven out, mostly forcibly. The UN did nothing to stop this.. Despite massive scrutiny from other European nations, he stuck through it and banned any Muslims from entering the country, while opening the borders completely to other white Europeans, and Italian Americans. Knowing Italy would need resources to survive the coming years, the INF made a plan to get complete control of the oil reserves in Libya. Corporate colonies, for lack of a better word, used money and businesses to gain control of a nation, similar to what China once did to Africa.

Funded by government money, many Italian businesses set up branches in Libya, Rockets! Rockets everywhere! Sorry... with workers being paid to move over there for work. Those who were still jobless in Italy, went to Libya for a new life. With thousands and thousands of workers going to Libya, the Italian businesses boomed, bringing money to the local country and back to Italy. After many years of this happening, the Libyan economy started to come under Italian control. And naturally, their political world came under control too. With pro-Italian politicians winning government seats, and funded by Italian money, Libya was ruled by Italy in all but name. Though this too changed, when in 2041, the puppet government asked Italy for protection in the hostile world. Constructing a joint army-navy base along the north coast, Italy stationed 20,000 men there initially, with many locals joining these ranks.

With Libya effectively under their control, Insert angry militants and Libyan freedom fighters here.Italy gained access to the oil reserves they so desperately needed. This let fuel prices drop, powered industry, created electricity, and brought money flowing in. This money was then put back into the economy, funding infrastructure, housing, and the military. With a growing economy, strong army, and hard working population, Italy looks strong going into the future, whatever it may hold. I don't get why everyone has France and such as crushed nations.. Everyone is in the same shit!

Army: The Eastern European Army draws its troops from all 5 states, consisting of 80,000 active men and an additional 50,000 in reserve. The small numbers are due to a new military doctrine, with an emphasis on a small, mobile, and professional force. Completely volunteer, these soldiers are relatively well-trained and decently equipped. The Federation has also placed focus on developing security and defense industries as to create new domestic designs for effective and efficient weapons. However, the army has suffered numerous set-backs, especially regarding budgetary constraints and problems with procuring modern weaponry. With a little over 500 tanks, many of them are outdated, and the Federation is currently working to phase them out of service and replace them with more modern ones.
Navy: The Eastern European Navy draws its personnel from all 5 states, mainly from Poland and Lithuania. Operating mostly as a coastal defense force, also able to conduct operations in the Baltic Sea, the navy has not received the attention the army has enjoyed, and much of its systems and ships are in need of desperate modernization. To a lesser extent, the navy also helps patrol the various rivers, including the Danube. A mix of frigates, corvettes, submarines, missile/gun boats, minesweepers, and other vessels, the navy is severely limited in its scope and power projection capabilities.

Brief Description of your Economy: The Federation's economy is diverse, due to the various states that make it up - with industry rebuilding itself, machinery and equipment have returned as a major export and source of revenue. Agriculture still remains, constituting a large portion of the economy. Due to the massive recession in the late 2010s, as well as the repercussions from the Eurasian War, the economy has been slow to recover. However, the formation of the Eastern European Federation has been able to turn this around, with efforts made to more efficiently allocate funds and resources to various areas.

History:

Even as the world plunged into a recession, the economies of two Eastern European countries - Poland and Slovakia - surged ahead, seemingly unaffected by this global event. This growth would soon come to a screeching halt, as one event lead to another; in 2017, numerous factors came into consideration when OPEC declared a second oil embargo on the West. The United States began its descent into chaos, riots and protests spreading like wildfire across the country. The effects would be sharply felt in Europe, as unrest gripped the continent, mirroring that of the United States. Incidents of crackdowns and police brutality were widespread, in a desperate attempt to maintain order. The Texas Crisis of 2020 would be the final nail in the coffin for NATO, as the US was forced to cut military spending, close overseas bases, and withdraw troops, leaving Europe especially vulnerable to Putin's ambitions. Seeking to defend and secure its borders from external aggression, 5 nations - Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and the Ukraine formed the Visegrad Group in an initiative to improve the militaries of the member countries and coordinate a defense against increased Russian aggression, especially in the Ukraine. The effective withdrawal of US forces only would serve to embolden Putin.

The Russian invasion of Georgia would shock all of Europe; still in the midst of their own economic problems, little could be done about it except for feeble condemnations. A new round of sanctions was announced, targeting wealthy Russian corporations and businessmen, with other countries, including Poland, being more vocal in their fears of a Russian invasion. With tensions and conflict in the Ukraine, many felt that it was only a matter of time - this would come to a head in what has been known as the February Incident. In 2022, a Ukrainian missile boat struck at another Russian vessel, prompting retaliatory strikes; satellite imagery reported a massive build-up at the border, with last-ditch peace talks attempting to prevent the break out of war. It was, in the words of a Polish ambassador who attended the talks, "a complete failure." Soon after this, Putin would launch a massive invasion of the Ukraine, sparking the beginnings of a war that would be the largest Europe ever faced since the days of WWII.

In spite of massive backlash and condemnations from NATO, the alliance, weakened from the collapse of the US and the economic crisis, only aided the Ukrainians with limited military support; in a matter of weeks, Kiev had fallen, with the Russians pushing on the Dnieper. A year later, Russian forces swept through the Baltics, catching the unprepared NATO troops off-guard, as desperate delaying actions, hoping to stall their advance, were held at Tallinn and Riga. This was met from declarations of war from the NATO countries, officially beginning the so-called Eurasian War. Russia's forces occupied Belarus, with Lukashenko claiming in a public address that it was to defend the nation from Western aggression. A two-pronged assault from Latvia and Belarus would tear through defensive lines in Lithuania, bringing these countries under the domination of Moscow. A desperate offensive in January of 2024 conducted by Polish troops pierced defensive lines in Belarus, but was soon halted due to shortages, and later encircled and destroyed by Russian forces. The disaster would cause other NATO countries to begin deploying military forces, unwilling to see Eastern Europe fall to the Russian hordes. Hoping to have secured a quick victory over NATO, Putin would offer peace terms - this would be responded in kind by NATO air strikes on key bases in Belarus.

The beleaguered Ukrainian Army, which had been driven across the Dnieper and their capital city, Kiev, would soon be bolstered by French, British, and German troops, hoping to open a second front in order to relieve pressure off the Polish. Pushing into the Ukraine, the offensive quickly gathered momentum, achieving their first victories in the war; Russian defensive lines collapsed under the combined assault. However, troops were rushed there and eventually the offensive, having been overstretched, was pushed back. The encirclement of 20,000 NATO troops would ultimately prove to be another disaster for the alliance, causing them to reconsider their strategies and be more cautious in their future operations. While this offensive was a failure, it taught them valuable lessons for the remainder of the war.

By the spring of 2024, NATO had reorganized their forces and gathered their stength; an assault was able to liberate Kiev, while Polish troops, supported by other NATO forces, advanced in Belarus. Both sides sent their men into a meatgrinder in Minsk, with bloody urban fighting claiming casualties of over 100,000. However, by then, it was clear the war was turning against the Russians; many of their best troops had been lost in the Ukrainian and now Belarusian campaign. With the fall of Minsk, NATO forces sought to secure the rest of Belarus whilst beginning operations to recapture the Baltic States. Fighting there would begin in 2025, with a two-pronged assault attempting to steamroll Russian defensive lines and divide them, allowing the individual armies to crush them with ease. They faced fierce Russian resistance, but by 2026 the majority of land that the Russians had gained in the opening stages of the war had been retaken; desperate, amphibious landings had Russian troops land on the coasts of Northern Poland and Moldavia. They would be pushed back, but not without heavy losses.

War-weary and exhausted, diplomats from both sides would meet at the peace table in Tirana; in the ensuing Treaty, Kaliningrad would be ceded to Poland, Karelia to Finland, the CIS dissolved, and massive reparations paid to NATO. After 5 years of war, the guns fell silent - yet the situation in Europe was anything but good. The effects of war had crippled the economies of the European countries. Unemployment was rampant. Inflation skyrocketed. Debts mounted. Many turned to radicals and extremists for solutions. In the wake of this chaos, NATO, as well as the EU, would dissolve, rendered virtually useless. The war-time unity that had once held them together against the Russian threat was gone.

Without any external protection, the countries of Eastern Europe, many of them whom had shared the bulk of the burden in the war, sought protection towards each other. With an angry and bitter Russia across the border, and the future of Europe uncertain, the leaders of four countries: Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic met in what is now known as the Bratislava Summit, in 2029. There, the seeds of the modern Eastern European Federation would be sown. In it, the leaders vowed to cooperate with each other for a better future, emphasizing the necessity for unity and confidence. The Bratislava Pact would be formed two years later, consisting of those very same nations; this marked the beginning of joint military exercises, along with closer regional cooperation. Unrest in Russia, combined with the consolidation of new governments in nations across Europe, convinced them of the need to unite into one, single federation. The ongoing economic crisis would greatly contribute to this, as growth was sluggish, and recovery was slow.

The groundwork of the federation would be laid as the Bratislava Pact began to centralize in the early-2030s. The formation of a Russo-German alliance would further threaten these countries; in 2036, the representatives of these governments met in Krakow to sign the treaty that would officially merit the dissolution of the Bratislava Pact, and in its place, the creation of a Eastern European Federation. The Treaty of Krakow would combine the financial, military, and diplomatic institutions of each of its signatories; a temporary government was created in order to oversee these efforts, and help merge it together. A constitution was written, granting rights and freedoms to the people.

Through new economic measures aimed at developing industries and growing the economy, it seemed as if the downward trend that the countries of Eastern Europe had experienced for years had finally been turned around. The militaries of each nation were combined together into one, single force - while this would result in numerous problems, there were attempts to rectify it and introduce reforms. A central bank was created. Modest amounts of economic growth were experienced, beginning in the early 2040s - while certainly nothing to brag about, it was at least something. However, significant opposition against the Federation still exists, and, should it grow in size and popularity, may serve to destabilize and destroy it. Now, as the nation finally begins to grow, it has begun to look for alliances with other countries in order to secure its position in a new Europe.
