FALLOUT: HEARTACHES BY THE NUMBER

Based on the events of Fallout New Vegas: The New Mojave Wasteland

Links

March, 2282- the Mojave Wasteland is on the brink of War. Following the Third Battle of Hoover Dam and the Legion's subsequent defeat, the alliance between the Brotherhood of Steel and the Free Vegas Army has been shattered, and now, the fate of the Mojave is on the shoulders of the men and women who are willing to fight for Freedom, or for Steel. Though this turn of events did not come without reason-- for there was much that preceded this new era for the Mojave. But, to get to the heart of the story, you have to go back to the beginning... ( ;) )

THE STORY

Written by: Alinora

On December 15th, 2281, Caesar's Legion marched on the Hoover Dam in what would be one of the most gruesome battles in the Mojave's history. The Bull and the Bear, once more, clashed, bearing their teeth and lunging at one another with fierce brutality and patriotism, but the Legion would prevail. Despite the help of the Courier, the NCR's line was broken, and Lanius' Legion would shred through the Mojave Wasteland, bringing death and destruction with each step they took. Only days after the fall of Hoover Dam, Legion Forces would march into the Strip, and on Christmas 2281, the NCR would abandon the Mojave, falling back to the Mojave Outpost while the Legion spread terror across their new lands.

The Legion brought peace, in a way, though that peace was paid for with the systematic slaughter of thousands. Raiders, Ghouls, and Mutants alike were targeted by Lanius and his Legion, and kill en masse (though Jacobstown was largely ignored). While the Strip remained open for business, it was never the same, for the Legion's "Rome" was a place of constant death. The streets were lined with crucified citizens, slaves stumbled around with their masters beating and harassing them as they went, the Strip Families were all but annihilated, and the Lucky 38 became the nerve center for the most gruesome regime the Mojave has ever seen.

But the Mojave spirit was strong, and there were many that fought back against Legion occupation. Whether it was smuggling information to rebel groups or actually waging a guerilla war against their forces, resistance was strong and prominent. Though while many tried to confront the Legion, Lanius was brutal in rooting out resistance, and none would truly be able to make a mark.

Until Shepard. Known in the East as the Lone Wanderer, Michael Shepard came to the Mojave on a mission to make contact with the Western Chapters once again, only to find the Hidden Valley Chapter slaughtered, with only a few members left. Shepard would gather what survivors he could, and they would refurbish Vault 11 into a makeshift headquarters, where they would begin to conduct a Guerilla war on the Legion as so many had done in the past. Dubbed the "Mojave Home Army" by it's members, it grew rapidly in size, and with men such as the Lone Wanderer and Boone, they were extremely efficient. But the Legion caught on, and it wasn't long after that they began to strike back. The Home Army could no longer avoid the Legion and attack at their weakest points-- they had to confront them.

And that they would do. Just over a month after the NCR's defeat in the Mojave, Shepard led the first major military confrontation against the Legion, and while marching, he would meet a fellow freedom fighter by the name of Joshua Hanson, who would join with him in the attack. Around noon on January 28th, 2282, the Mojave Home Army would launch it's attack against the Legion garrison at Primm, led by none other than Aurelius of Phoenix. The battle was brutal, and the rebels won by numbers alone. In the battle, Shepard would kill Aurelius of Pheonix, and his army would kill the garrison of Legion troops, but lost two-thirds of their own in the process. The retreat that followed, known as the "March of Tears", would be commemorated as one of the Mojave's most iconic moments.

The tattered Remnants of the Mojave Home Army would retreat to the NCR's Mojave Outpost, where they were granted safe haven. To the Lone Wanderer and Joshua Hanson, the victory over the Legion in Primm wasn't worth the cost in lives, but it had invaluable effects to their cause. News of the battle quickly spread across the Mojave, and for the first time, many began to raise their fists in succession to those who did so first at Primm. On the Strip, in Freeside and Westside, and various settlements, citizens began to resist, but they lacked one thing: leadership. At Mojave Outpost, Michael Shepard and Joshua Hanson agreed upon joint-command of the remaining Mojave Home Army, which they renamed the "Free Vegas Army". The two generals split paths, leaving their army behind at Mojave Outpost, and would go on to separate missions to prepare to rebuild their fighting force.

General Hanson would proceed to Primm and Goodsprings, where we would coordinate the fortification of the settlements and organize militias to defend against the Legion which would inevitably launch retaliatory attacks on the Mojave people. General Shepard would travel to Jacobstown, a Super Mutant settlement which had been largely ignored by the Legion, aside from a few raiding parties who launched small attacks on guards and killed some of their Brahmin. Jacobstown's leader, Marcus, was reluctant to put his people at risk, but would ultimately agree to join forces with the FVA to free the Mojave of the Legion. Just a week later, Joshua would arrive in Jacobstown with an army- mostly new recruits and the few remnants of the Mojave Home Army that chose to continue fighting. The FVA would fortify Jacobstown, creating a massive strongpoint to carry out operations across the Mojave, but the Legion caught on. A small Scout Party was wiped out by the FVA, but there was much more coming. Warned by a ex-NCR ghoul who's name has been forgotten in time, the Free Vegas Army would be prepared when the Legion came to confront them on the 6th of February, 2282.

Led by Lanius himself, the army consisted of some of the Legion's most seasoned veterans, but the twisted former-Legate proposed something other than mass slaughter: submission. Shepard and Lanius would meet between the two armies, and the Legion's dictator would offer pardon to the Generals and their army, as well as the Super Mutants and Ghouls of Jacobstown. He extended an offer of Semi-Autonomy to Jacobstown and the areas around it, but Shepard refused. The Lone Wanderer was historically slapped across the face by the Caesar and told, "You are not a pure human! You are corrupted by the traitorous ghouls and super mutants! And for that you must be purged like the rest of them!". The Legion would charge, but Men, Ghouls, and Mutants alike would stand together and hold their ground as the Lone Wanderer engaged in a one-on-one duel with Lanius, and would critically wound him, though not after suffering his own set of serious injuries. With their leader incapacitated, and their forces being torn apart, the Legion was forced to retreat from Jacobstown, defeated.

Though the Free Vegas Army's victory did not come easy-- the casualties were immense. It was estimated that a third of the FVA's force in Jacobstown was killed or wounded, and there were significant damages to the settlement itself. General Hanson wanted to launch an immediate counter-attack, but Shepard insisted that he give the men a day to rest and consolidate power. What the Lone Wanderer failed to mention was that he had contacted the Brotherhood of Steel and informed them of the situation in the Mojave. Elder Lyons had promised to send aid, so Shepard wished to wait until they arrived to launch the offensive on New Vegas.

In another part of the Wasteland, there were others who also wished to see a Mojave free of the Legion's tyranny. A Vault 20 native, Samuel Hughes had spent most of his life on the road as a caravaner-- but after meeting an ex-Enclave by the name of Jason, his ideas in life began to shift. For Sam and Jason had an idea, one which is today known as the "Daybreak Movement". The two men would track the Enclave Remnants, a small band of old men hiding out in the Mojave, and join with them, coordinating with the Enclave's debatable President: Donald J Castor to bring the Daybreak to life. Eventually, Hughes and Shepards' paths would cross in a bloody inferno of fire and destruction as two opposing views faced off.

The Free Vegas Army would launch their offensive against the Legion on February 7th, 2282, which would kick off when General Hanson captured the Legion stronghold at the old NCR Correctional Facility. General Shepard would lead the bulk of the FVA through northern Vegas, battling through Westside and Freeside, while the NCR marched through the southern Mojave, and the Brotherhood launched their attacks on Black Mountain, McCarran, and initiated bombing runs on the Hoover Dam. After three days of heavy fighting, the Brotherhood of Steel and Free Vegas Army had isolated the Legion, and Lanius, to the Strip. On the 10th of February, FVA troops would pour into the Strip, supported by Brotherhood Knights and Paladins that were deployed via Vertibird. The Legion Forces were crushed, and in a final confrontation in the Penthouse of the Lucky 38, the Lone Wanderer would kill Caesar Lanius. From there, the FVA-Brotherhood-NCR Coalition would drive the Legion back, pushing their tattered armies to the Colorado, where they would consolidate at the Hoover Dam for one final battle.

The Third Battle of Hoover Dam would begin on the morning on February 13th, 2282. The assault was broken up into two separate strikes, one on the Dam itself, and one on Fortification Hill. General Hanson led the FVA-NCR Force on a direct assault, covered by 1st Recon Sharpshooters, which would allow them to break through the Legion lines with minimal casualties. Though, once FVA forces entered the Dam, casualties mounted due to the close-quarters fighting. At Fortification Hill, Shepard and Lyons' Pride would be dropped off and engage the Legion Forces, securing a landing zone for Brotherhood reinforcements. As Brotherhood troops began to push towards the Hoover Dam, the Enclave would launch their own assault, landing on the eastern side of the Hoover Dam and cutting down Legion forces with swift efficiency. The FVA and NCR pushed east, the Enclave pushed West, and eventually the Brotherhood would link up with the Remnants. As the last Legion soldiers were taken care of inside, the remaining ones on the surface were cut down, and the battle officially ended.

Though, it was the events that followed that would shatter any hope for immediate peace in the Mojave. With the Legion defeated, the alliance brokered between the FVA, NCR, and BoS began to fall apart-- especially with the entrance of Enclave elements. The Enclave insisted that they alone captured most of the Dam, and thus were entitled to joint control with the coalition, but Shepard refused to allow it to happen, calling out the Remnants for their atrocities in the East and West alike. Joshua was at his side-- refusing to allow the Enclave to have control, but they wouldn't back down. In what is considered one of the most heinous and most heartless acts in recent history, the man who sparked the massive rebellion, the Lone Wanderer, would open fire on the Enclave Remnants. He was followed by the Brotherhood, and ultimately the Free Vegas Army and the NCR. The Enclave Remnants tried to fight back, but it was in vein. They were murdered, and those who survived the initial slaughter were ruthlessly executed by Shepard. The event that is now known as the "Hoover Dam Massacre" sparked controversy across the Mojave as people began to question the FVA and Brotherhood, though most of the heat revolved around Shepard who ordered the slaughter. Though the Enclave's President survived due to not being present during the attack, the murder of the Enclave Remnants drove a wedge between Shepard's Brotherhood and the rest of the Mojave-- a wedge that would split the land in half...

THE MODERN MOJAVE
Following the Third Battle of Hoover Dam and the massacre of Enclave Remnants at the hand of Sentinel Shepard, a short peace settled over the Mojave as peace talks started between the Brotherhood of Steel and the Free Vegas Army. Following the NCR's subsequent expulsion from the Mojave, the two factions formed a tight alliance, and together began working towards rebuilding the Mojave. The Brotherhood established a political headquarters in what used to be the Gomorrah, which was shut down due to a scandal, and established a "New Citadel" at Fortification Hill. Brotherhood forces would create strongholds at Black Mountain, the NCRCF which they renamed "Fort Hardin", and Helios 1, and Hidden Valley, while maintaining friendly influence over settlements such as Novac, Primm, and Goodsprings. The FVA nestled themselves primarily into the New Vegas area, using Camp McCarran as a military command center. The FVA created strongholds in Jacobstown, occupied Nellis Air Force Base, and maintained joint-control of the Hoover Dam with the Brotherhood.

However, the Daybreak Movement did not die with the Enclave Remnants at Hoover Dam. Led by Samuel Hughes, a new political organization rose in New Vegas, and gained massive popularity. The pro-independence Movement rose from nothingness in the two months following the Third Battle of Hoover Dam, and on the 17th of April, Sam Hughes would sign an agreement with FVA General Josh Hanson bringing forth an official government: the Free Republic of the Mojave. The FRoM's claimed influence over the entirety of the Mojave Wasteland, even the areas under Brotherhood occupational jurisdiction, so tensions climbed as they began requesting that the Brotherhood leave the Mojave. Sentinel Shepard ultimately refused to leave the Mojave to an "Enclave-infested" government, but the FRoM insisted, standing by their noble beliefs of independence. Sam Hughes, leader of the Free Republic, tried to compromise and ask that the Brotherhood give the FRoM control of facilities like Helios 1, but still, Shepard refused, and tensions have climbed ever since.

Now, the two major factions are at each other's throats. Following the Brotherhood's occupation of Cottonwood and several territorial disputes, the threat of major armed conflict between the FVA and BoS is higher than ever. The FRoM has mobilized their forces in preparation, and the Brotherhood has done the same, though both factions still manage to keep joint-control of the Hoover Dam and political relations on the Strip. However, nobody knows how long it will be before the peace is shattered, and blood soaks the Mojave soil once more...

Because War, War Never Changes...

Quick Version for Lazy People :p
Basically, after the NCR lost the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, the Legion occupied the Mojave Wasteland and established a totalitarian state of mass murder and oppression, headed by the Monster of the East: Legate Lanius. Throughout their initial rule, they go without much resistance, but about a month and a half after taking control the Lone Wanderer (who came to the Mojave to make contact with the Western Chapters) leads the first major attack against the Legion. A man named Joshua Hanson joins, they attack Primm, and win with major casualties. The two part ways-- the Lone Wanderer (named Michael Shepard) going to Jacobstown, while Joshua helps fortify Primm and Goodsprings. Eventually the Rebels make a stronghold in Jacobstown, the Legion attacks but is slaughtered, and a few days later, a Free Vegas Army-NCR-Brotherhood of Steel Coalition attack Vegas. Shepard kills Lanius, they attack the Dam, and on the Dam, Enclave Remnants jump in. After heated debate over who controls the Dam, Shepard and the BoS gun down the Remnants. So a few months pass, and a man named Sam creates a Mojave Government called the "Free Republic of the Mojave", which comes to oppose the Brotherhood who occupies most of the southern areas of the Wasteland. So now, they're close to war. It's really better if your read the stuff above you...

FREE REPUBLIC OF THE MOJAVE

The Free Republic of the Mojave, also called the Mojave Republic, is a young nation with surging levels of support in the Mojave, mainly due to their positive connotation, and their actions since being founded working to improve the condition of its citizens. The Free Republic of the Mojave was founded by Samuel William Hughes, Jacob S. Easton, Johnson B. Davenport, Susan N. Madison, and former FVA General, Joshua Hanson after the Third Battle of Hoover Dam. The Free Republic supports the local people and has a functioning and growing economy with businesses able to open in a now semi-safe Vegas and Freeside. The Fiends have been all but eradicated after a small campaign to clean out Outer Vegas championed by Jacob S. Easton, who is the Commandant of the Mojave Army's Special Forces. What the Mojave military lacks in technology it makes up for in structure and specialization with its own medical corps, having a military industry that produces weapons based around the .45 round, and a working chain of command. The Mojave Economy is based around it's newest additions to the economy, the steel industry that is smelting scrap metal to help produce and manufacture various needed goods, the Housing Industry which has been granted permission to demolish portions of Freeside to begin constructing new housing areas, and various trading posts throughout the Republic. Gambling is a fading industry, after the Gomorrahs attempted to overthrow the Mojave Government, strip factions powers have been severely weakened with the Ultra-Luxe having new owners and now acting as a hotel and the Tops being the only current functional gambling building on the strip. The Gommorah Gambling building itself has been converted into a Hospital. The Lucky 38 has been stripped of its former gambling equipment to make room for the Revolutionary Congress and the upper portion of the building acts as the area for the Executive Branch. The Former NCR Embassy has been converted into a military base, the Kings building, which has been vacant since the Legion Occupation has been converted into a local police building, and Fort Mormon acts as a training ground for new recruits in the Mojave Army. The FRoM is hostile towards the Legion and has a negative but neutral stance towards the NCR, however, the greatest percieved threat by many citizens of the Mojave Republic is the Brotherhood of Steel, which have refused to end their occupation of portions of the Mojave, and who in many Mojave citizens eyes' continue to resemble the old tech grabbing and greedy chapter that existed in the Mojave before the Eastern Chapter arrived.

Goals: To unify the citizens of the Mojave against outside influence and establish a united Republic free of corruption and outside influences that promotes liberty, equality and a national identity. In the long term it aims to expand into former Legion territory to reduce the impact of Legion successor states on their subjects and eradicate slavery in those territories.

Image
BROTHERHOOD OF STEEL
The Brotherhood of Steel is the Mojave's most technologically advanced faction, and is the FRoM's top competitor for control of the region. The local chapter of the Brotherhood was all but eradicated by Caesar's Legion, but a new detachment was deployed via vertibird to take part in the FVA's campaign to drive the Legion out of the Mojave. Following the Legion's defeat at the Third Battle of Hoover Dam, the Brotherhood established a firm presence in the region, utilizing Fortification Hill and the vault beneath it as a headquarters, and establishing strongholds at Black Mountain, Helios 1, Searchlight, Fort Hardin (NCRCF), and various other locations. Early on, the Brotherhood maintained a strong relationship with the FVA, with Sentinel Shepard serving as a moderator and peacekeeper. The two factions worked together towards common goals-- mainly the reconstruction of the Mojave after conflict, which greatly improved the Brotherhood reputation among locals. However, following the FRoM's rise to power, relations all but collapsed (mainly due to the Enclave influence on the FRoM's Government). Since then, relations have all but completely deteriorated-- with the only real cooperation being at the Strip's Brotherhood Embassy, and at the Hoover Dam.

Goals: To secure vast quantities of valuable technology, create a stronghold in the West, with a secondary objective being to protect people from the NCR and Legion. They also believe the FRoM is an illegitimate government and wish to see them dissolve due to the Mojave Chapter Enclave's influence on the Republic

Image
ENCLAVE REMNANTS
The Enclave Remnants in the Mojave Wasteland are but a shadow of what they used to be, and their story is one tainted with sorrow and death. Long before the Legion took control of the Mojave, the 7 old Remnants had finally settled into a new, comfortable life, tucked away from the rest of society in vault's 3 and 19. Led by Donald Castor, who was elected President (though the election is controversial with there being only 6 voters), the Remnants lived in peace for a long while, even welcoming multiple new members, which would ultimately go on to forge the Daybreak Movement. The Enclave would become a prominent addition to Samuel Hughes' ideas for an independent Mojave, so when the time came that Joshua Hanson and Michael Shepard marched on the Legion, the Enclave Remnants would be drug into conflict. However, the Brotherhood's involvement in the conflict would be the Remnant's ultimate downfall. The Remnants were vital to achieving victory against the Legion at the Third Battle of Hoover Dam, and demanded join-control in the name of the Enclave, and the Daybreak Party. The result, was the Hoover Dam Massacre. Under orders of Shepard himself, the Brotherhood Forces opened fire on the Enclave Remnants, murdering all of them, and sparing only 3, who hadn't been at the Dam at the time of the Battle.

Since the Third Battle of Hoover Dam, the Enclave has been heavily persecuted by the Brotherhood of Steel. They were stripped of their only Vertibird, most of their weapons and armor was confiscated, and the majority of their files and records were taken by the Brotherhood for examination. With nowhere else to turn, the Remnants have largely dissolved into the Free Republic of the Mojave, now having the roles of politicians or other jobs of the sort.

Goals: Currently to Unify with the Free Republic of the Mojave

Image
FREE VEGAS ARMY
The Free Vegas Army was formed by the Lone Wanderer, Michael Shepard, and a rebel by the name of Joshua Hanson as an organized military force with the goal of fighting the Legion on a large scale. Comprised of Humans, Ghouls, and Super Mutants alike, the FVA was the first rebel force to confront the Legion in open battle, with it's first taste of combat being at the Battle of Jacobstown. It was here that Lanius confronted Generals Shepard and Hanson, and it was here that the FVA would repel and army of some of the Legion's most seasoned veterans. The FVA would launch a massive offensive on Legion-controlled New Vegas, in coordination with the Brotherhood of Steel and the New California Republic, and would then go on to help defeat the Legion at the Third Battle of Hoover Dam. Following the liberation of the Mojave, General Shepard would help maintain positive relations between the two organizations as they drove the NCR out, and began rebuilding. However, after the FRoM took power, the FVA took their side, and their alliance with the Brotherhood ended.

Currently, the Free Vegas Army has been effectively disbanded, and most of it's members integrated into the FRoM's Armed Forces. However, a sizable chunk of the FVA's Veterans (mainly those who were commanded by General Shepard) defected to the Brotherhood of Steel and have since joined their ranks. Still on both sides, many FVA Veterans wear patches on their uniforms or paint symbols onto their armor to identify their prior service.

Goals: Currently to finish integrating into the FRoM

Image
GENTLES TRIBE
The Gentles Tribe is a tribe of individuals descended from pre-war gentry. They are the recognized independent controllers of Camp Golf and Lake Las Vegas. They are well-known for having restored Camp Golf to its pre-war level; their hunting expeditions which often include such creatures as deathclaws; their annual hunting tournament; their intellectual capacity; and their manners. The Gentles Tribe were the cause of the death claws being removed from Quarry Junction and were the primary instigators of the second attempt (following the Courier) at the Sierra Madre, getting back with a good deal of the gold and giving it to the winner of the annual tournament.

Goals: To maintain their independence.

Image
ARMY OF ANCHORAGE

The Army of Anchorage was formed by a Mister Gutsy Interrogation-Model named "KL-04" who referred to himself as the General of the Army of Anchorage. Serving under General Chase during Anchorage, he was transferred to Vault 25 when the conflict was over. Vault 25's vault experiment was to dehumanize the security force: Who would be entirely composed of robots such as Protectrons and Robobrains. It housed a hidden factory in the reactor level, which produced more units. However, 150 years after the bombs well, KL-04, malfunctioning, wanted to move out of the Vault and destroy the "communists" outside. When the Overseer refused, KL-04 went rampant, ordering his "men" to kill every non-robot in the Vault. After this, he promptly took control the vault, but he was not programmed with knowledge of how to actually open the door, so for 50 years, KL-04 continued to desperately try to find a way out. He was eventually led out with his "army" that had been bolstered to unreasonable levels after 50 years of continuous construction, after Joshua Hanson, unknowingly opened the vault after Kl-04 pretended to be a vault dweller. After being led out, he declared war on both the Rebels and the Legion, starting a large three-way battle at Primm. With the Legion Command at Primm taken out, the Vegas Home Army retreated, leaving the AoA and the remaining Legion to fight. The AoA took control of Primm after a short battle, after which they made it their new headquarters. The AoA's expansion is slow, but they have taken control of Nevada Patrol station, which they use a outpost and blocking to defend against the NCR.

Goals: To find the remnants of the United States government and assist them in the restoration of the United States.

Image
LEGION REMNANTS
Despite the Legion's iron grip over the Mojave, they suffered a quick yet painful defeat at the hands of the FVA-Brotherhood-NCR Coalition. Following the slaughter at the Battle of Jacobstown, Legion forces retreated across the front, consolidating in New Vegas and around the Hoover Dam. After New Vegas was liberated, and Lanius was killed at the hands of the Lone Wanderer, the tattered remains of the Legion Army made a desperate last stand at the Hoover Dam. Though, they were ripped limb from limb, and the few who survived were booted across the Colorado, and soon found themselves plunged into Civil War. Without Caesar's even hand or Lanius' iron fist, the Legion fell apart. However, there were some who managed to avoid the fate that so many other suffered at the Hoover Dam, and decided not to retreat back east. These Legion Remnants are considered little more than Raiders to the Brotherhood and the FRoM, operating in small roving bands, and usually not staying in one place for long.

Goals: Mixed, some remnant groups want to restore the Legion, others want to be independent states based on the code of morals that their late Caesar spread during his various conquests

Image
NEW CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC

Despite contributing to the final offensive against the Legion, and participating in the Third Battle of Hoover Dam, the NCR would ultimately be driven out of the Mojave by the FVA-Brotherhood Alliance, and not given any say in the Mojave's future. The NCR suffered heavy losses during the war, and the exclusion from any sort of involvement in the conflict has forged an unbreaking bitterness towards both the FRoM and the Brotherhood of Steel. Political turmoil within the NCR has set the country off balance, and shifted their focus away from the Mojave, but the NCR Rangers continue to occupy Mojave Oupost and frequently launch scouting missions across the southern Mojave.

Goals: To Conquer the Mojave and begin taking over former Legion territory and thereby expand the Republic's borders eastward in the pursuit of resources.

--IMPORTANT CHARACTERS--

Image
SAMUEL WILLIAM HUGHES
"The Man of the People"

Samuel William Hughes, President of the Free Republic of the Mojave, and the man labeled 'Man of the People' for representing the locals interests in a unified independent nation, Samuel, who goes by Sam worked to unite the local townships, the FVA and his own political movement into a working republic. Born in Vault 20, Sam grew up as an orphan in Freeside before moving to Black Mountain and founding a small defensive community along with other kids that had escaped from the vault. Their community eventually was destroyed by the nightkin and they fled south to Moonbeam cinema around the time when the first rebellion against the Legion occurred. During this time he began co-founding the Daybreak movement along with Jacob Easton, a close friend of his. Their movement began surging towards the end of the third rebellion against the Legion. Sam contacted the Enclave Remnants and pushed them to assist the FVA in destroying the Legion forces at Hoover Dam. This led to him and his inner circle being present and almost killed at the Hoover Dam Massacre. After the Battle of Hoover Dam ended, Sam moved with his friends to New Vegas and campaigned for a Mojave Republic, one where there should be no second class citizens in New Vegas and taxes to enter the Strip, that all men are equal regardless of their physical condition, and that the only way for the Mojave to stay free from outside influences was for the people of the Mojave to band together in brotherhood. His reforms have led to the first companies based in the Mojave since before the first Legion occupation to stabilize and the Free Vegas Army to become the Republic's Armed Forces. His rhetoric has become widely accepted in the Mojave, though there are those who still support the NCR, Legion and some who are now working with the Brotherhood of Steel. As President of the Free Republic he has drafted a constitution which is going through the Revolutionary Congress to be ratified, demanded the Brotherhood end it's occupation of portions of the Mojave, and worked to improve the health of Mojave citizens by pushing the bill that led to the funding of the Followers of the Apocalypse Remnants who have become the Mojave Health Department.

Image
MICHAEL JAMES SHEPARD
"The Lone Wanderer"

Michael James Shepard, more commonly known as simply "Shepard" and known on the East Coast as the "Lone Wanderer", is a Sentinel in the Brotherhood of Steel and the current commander of the Mojave Detachment of Lyon's Brotherhood of Steel. Native to the Capital Wasteland, Shepard is well-known for his deeds in the Brotherhood-Enclave War-- most notably during the Battle of Project Purity, when he nearly died to activate the purifier that has since granted the Potomac fresh, clean water. Though, Shepard has come to be one of the most controversial individuals in the Mojave Wasteland-- praised for his role in co-founding and commanding the FVA, but also scorned for the "Hoover Dam Massacre", where he ordered the slaughter of the Enclave Remnants during the Third Battle of the Hoover Dam. Shepard served as a successful mediator after the Legion's defeat, and maintained the collaboration of the two factions as they worked towards rebuilding the war-torn Mojave. Though soon after the FRoM took power, the FVA was disassembled, which enraged it's founder. After learning of the FRoM's connections to the Enclave, Shepard cut all friendly ties with the organization, and has since struggled to maintain peace.

Image
JOSHUA HANSON
"Ol' Grey Eyes"

Joshua Hanson is currently a General serving in the Free Republic of the Mojave, and one of the most vital assets to their largely untrained military. While not much is known about Joshua's past, he was said to have stumbled upon Shepard and his "Vegas Home Army" during their march on Primm, and was among the survivors. Joshua is one of the few people in the FRoM Military to call Shepard "friend", which is due to the fact that the two men formed the Free Vegas Army together. General Hanson would command FVA troops from the first battle at Jacobstown all the way to the Third Battle of the Hoover Dam, and worked happily with the Brotherhood until the FRoM took power. Joshua sided with the FRoM, even after they disbanded the FVA, and would instead organize it's former members (those who didn't defect to the BoS) into the FRoM's new armed forces, where he served today, mainly behind a desk"

Political Alignment: Strongly towards Legion Remnants

Strength: 5
Perception: 9
Endurance: 4
Charisma: 5
Intelligence: 8
Agility:10
Luck: 7

Skills: Sensible, Strategist, Cunning, Distrustful
Weaknesses: Not good at melee, Not charismatic
Weapons: The Ripper, Service Rifle
Other Items: Legion Prime Armor, Vexillarius helmet, Dapper gambler's hat and suit (only when in disguise on the Strip)
Bio A remarkable individual from an unremarkable tribe in Utah, Vulpes was brought into the Caesar's Legion as a child. Having survived training, he was made a legionary and fought well enough to be promoted to the rank of Decanus. He became a frumentarius following a brilliant tactical maneuver, when in a battle against a tribe, he broke ranks and led his squad through a hole in the enemy defenses, capturing the tribe's chieftain. While his centurion wanted him crucified for disobeying orders, Caesar saw potential in the young Decanus and found a more interesting use of him. According to Ulysses, Vulpes Inculta was responsible for the pacification of the Twisted Hairs at Dry Wells once the Legion's campaign ended in Arizona. Those of the Twisted Hairs who resisted were crucified along the sides of Interstate 40.

By 2281, Vulpes is the leader of the frumentarii and the mastermind behind many of the Legion's intrigues, notably the slaughter at Nipton as well as the destruction of Camp Searchlight, which was destroyed after Legionaries released the contents of several radioactive waste containers kept in the city's fire station. This severely weakened the NCR's position in the area, and allowed the Legion to cross the Colorado River and establish an outpost at Cottonwood Cove. After the Legion stormed Hoover Dam and The Strip he would take up the responsibility of rooting out the opposition. He was successful in quashing the early revolts without major opposition and was in the process of infiltrating the early FroM organization when Jacobstown happened. Then he helped try to prepare The Strip but his preparations were cut short by the attack. He managed to slip away in the chaos during and after the attack and arrived in Nipton, where he laid low. When hte Legion collapsed he formed his own Legion based in Nipton. Even though it's a minor player, numbering less than 100, it still is a danger for all of those traveling along the highway. He vows to grow his Legion, and finally he is ready.

Great Organizer: Knows how to organize his men, and keep things running efficiently.
Good Leadership: This character knows how to inspire his men, and keep a crowd interested in what he says.

Weapons: Ranger Sequoia and Hunting rifle
Other Items: Bishop wears a tan old-ww2 style general outfit as shown in his picture, with a custom pipe in which he made from the wood of some of the trees when in the Mojave. He is also equipped with brown combat boots for walking, a long ranger-like overcoat, his Lieutenant hat, and a duty belt around his waist that holds his holster for his pistols, with a rifle slot on the back to hold his hunting rifle. Along with a few extra places on his duty belt to hold ammunition, and small items such as bottle caps. He also carries a small sack to which he holds on his back to try and get stronger, while carrying very limited amounts of items.
Bio (Minimum of 7-10 sentences and basic comprehension of grammar and logic): Quinlan was born in Shady Sands years before the Mojave occupation started. When he was young, he was constantly in awe of the NCR rangers and hoped to join the ranks of the elite division. When he was seventeen, Aaron Kimbell was elected president of the NCR and announced operations to begin in the Mojave. Quinlan went down to his nearest recruiting station to signup, but was rejected from joining the NCR rangers and drafted instead into the NCR Army. This made him bitter, but he used this opportunity to learn as much as he could about warfare in order to out perform the NCR Rangers who rejected him at the station, in order to make the regular NCR Army the most feared thing in the wasteland, to which the Rangers were just a part of. This is how he came across books about Napoleon Bonaparte, as during his tour with the NCR Army he continued to visit libraries and try and get a hold of old military history books. In 2276, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal, during the Brotherhood-NCR War. Quinlan actually rounded up a few soldiers during the assault on HELIOS One, that managed to break through the Brotherhoods ranks by luring them out of the building and having them slaughtered by the main Army. This leadership ability was recognized and he was soon promoted to Sergeant. He continued to perform in his best capacity, and when the First Battle of Hoover Dam was fought, his leadership abilities again proved worthwhile and they made him an officer at the rank of Lieutenant. Ever since the withdraw of NCR forces from the Mojave, Quinlan grew restless with the political turmoil and has grown distrustful of the NCR actually being the power it needs. Quinlan believes that he is the Napoleon of the United States, and has based his 100 troops that he was given to command as Lieutenant out of the Hopeville Missile Base, gaining their strength and preparing to embark on a journey to make the NCR great again. Only this time...under new leadership.

Also for the Brotherhood's goals, add in there that the reason they see the FRoM as "illegitimate" is because of their connections to the Enclave

The FRoM don't have any direct connections to the Enclave this time around though, Castor can't be the VP if he's in House's chamber all the time, and the Enclave at the airbase are directly loyal to the FRoM, the Enclave have no control over the FRoM.

Well, then I'll put down that they oppose the FRoM because they have members of their Air Force that are former Enclave.

How relevant are the Desert Rangers or any off-shoot in this new Mojave?

Currently? They aren't. However, the Mojave Special Forces and NCR both contain former members of the Desert Rangers.

This looks pretty nice. I might not be joining due to time constraints, but I'll definitely be watching this.

Name: Benjamin Roberts, The Soldier

Age:19

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Image

Political Alignment: Utterly Loyal to the Brotherhood of Steel, is a Paladin
40 Points to assign (Take Note that 0 = Extreme Weakness in Category, 1-2 = Below Average, 3-5 = Average, 6-7 = Above Average, 8-9 = Outstanding in Category, 10+ = Benchmark in Category)

Strength:4
Perception:5
Endurance:5
Charisma:6
Intelligence:8
Agility:6
Luck:6

Skills: Energy weapons, Medicine, Science, Speech, and small guns (not as skilled though). Not a game skill but, Tactics.

Weaknesses: More of a Leader than a fighter, does not do well in melee combat. Is, at times, limited by his moral and ethical code, this can lead him to make many rash decisions. His care for others and desire to help often puts him in mortal danger, and has gotten him severely injured on more than one occasion.

Weapons:A Modified AER9 Laser Rifle (Extended Casing, blue beam, improved helmet interface), a Ranger Sequoia, and a combat knife. He modified the Laser Rifle while in the Brotherhood before his exile. He looted the Sequoia off of a Legion Centurion after the Third Battle of Hoover Dam.

Other Items: Custom T-45d Powered Armor and Helmet, Large amount of medical supplies stored away, small PDA to keep track of things. About 500 caps. A simple BDU for more formal occasions, although he prefers his Armor.
The Power Armor is slightly modified, with a custom HUD that Ben created over the old one. Most of the paint has worn away but the symbol of the Brotherhood is still visible. The armor also has fading blue streaks of war-paint.

Bio: Born in the Hidden Valley, he was raised like any other initiate. He never knew his parents, but Elder McNamara was the closest thing he had to a father. Ben was a strict follower of the codex, but wished that the Brotherhood could help the struggling people in the wasteland. The final straw for Ben was when Hardin took over. Ben demanded that McNamara be returned to the title of Elder. This was treason, and punishable by death. Hardin decided that death was too good for the traitor and exiled the seventeen year old boy. Ben was given supplies and equipment by his friends, most of whom took pity on the boy. He never thought that he would fight for Steel again; he was wrong. Weeks after he left, Ben heard the news that the Legion had destroyed the Brotherhood while they were fighting the NCR, leaving nothing alive in the Hidden Valley. He vowed that day to fight Caesar wherever he could and to protect the people of the Mojave. After the Legion took over the management of things in the Mojave he helped where he could, eventually making his way to Freeside. He protected the people there from the war, from the Legion, and from each other.

The war raged in the Strip, with the Mojave Rebels fighting the Legion at every corner. Soldiers on both sides reported seeing a hulking figure moving around the battlefield. Not long after seeing him, he would vanish, leaving bandaged casualties on their respective sides. This was Ben doing what he did best, helping others. The Battles ended and thugs moved into Freeside. They were now armed with weapons and armor of fallen soldiers, mugging and pillaging from anyone who couldn't defend themselves. Benjamin again stepped in to protect the people.

After a period of many weeks, he found his way to Shepard, and to the Brotherhood. With the promise of returning to the fold and serving in Steel once again he joined the Third Battle of Hoover Dam. There he participated in the slaughter of the Enclave Remnants, an act that he was not proud of. Now he serves the Brotherhood of Steel as he did before his exile

Questions: I won't have to delete this one will I?

b]Name:[/b] The Abbot (real name unknown)
Age: 45 yrs.
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Image

Political Alignment: Primm Résistance, leaning towards FRoM.
40 Points to assign (Take Note that 0 = Extreme Weakness in Category, 1-2 = Below Average, 3-5 = Average, 6-7 = Above Average, 8-9 = Outstanding in Category, 10+ = Benchmark in Category)

Strength: 3
Perception: 7
Endurance: 3
Charisma: 10
Intelligence: 7
Agility: 2
Luck: 8

Skills:
Can lead a long speech and keep people interested.
Good at agricultural governance.
Tolerant, not zealous against people who don't follow his religion.
Tends to be calm, even in difficult situations.
Weaknesses:
Not physically powerful, can't take hits very well, only a few shots are needed to take him down.
Not very intelligent when it comes to technology, relies on help to build bases, and to set up electronic equipment.
Weapons: Recharger Pistol
Other Items: Brown Robe with hood, with a large cross necklace, lucky 357. revolver, 1000 bottlecaps, barely functioning pip-boy
Bio

The only facts known about the mysterious "Abbot" is that he appears to come from a Vault, due to his pip-boy (which is rather glitch) and that he is Roman Catholic, and that he is the secretive leader of the Primm Résistance, which seeks to drive the robotic Army of Anchorage from Primm. He is a older man, and relies on others to do the work for him while he gives inspiring speeches to his men, encouraging them of the FRoM's noble goals of independence, in comparison with the revival of America propaganda the AoA spouts constantly. Currently, the Abbot and his small militia, composing of about 15 people, armed with low-end energy weapons, such as Laser Weapons and the occaionsional plasma pistol, have made Mesquite Mountains crater their base, having build low-level barricades.
