Durango was actually gonna be a settlement at one point. For the most part many of them are abandoned and left to rot, but a few small settlements may still be around. If you think one should be a settlement for plot reasons I'm open, but just ask first. Can't have a hundred settlements suddenly appear, nor should they be large (more than 20 people or so) or too close to Denver. If anyone has an idea for a larger settlement then bring the idea to me and it will likely be added.

No factions unless given permission. You can have a couple characters but this is a Character RP first and foremost.

Oh... I thought about making a new character but I would be more interested in playing a small raider faction.
Here lies a bad OP.

How many were we talking about? I may allow a very small group but I'd need to know how'd they fit in. The Dominion (former the Vultures) have pretty much taken over any large bandit groups in Denver/

I'm thinking around the 15-25 range. They'd focus on having better skills than larger groups instead of having big numbers. As for how they fit in, my idea was that Mira leaves the Vultures after the coup and returns to the University of Iowa(which became a self sufficient town after the events of the first RP) and recruits for a new group to return to the more dangerous parts of Colorado and possibly attempt to resettle there, getting the supplies they need via raiding.
Here lies a bad OP.

I'm fine with the whole leaving the Vultures thing after the coup, but I think you should start smaller. It was winter so long distance travel is gonna be exceedingly difficult. Plus some settlements barely had 20 people, so that would make you a decently sized faction. If it was a few guys trying to get something started then maybe, but I think it's too large. If everyone had a large group things would get out of hand.

Anywhere really depending on how large of a backstory you give him. Fair warning, I'd avoid the Pacific Northwest (or at least the coastlines). If he's under 27 he's continental America. Older and he could possibly be from another country. I think Utah may be a good place, or Appalachia maybe.

Major settlements can be somewhat large (Grand Junction was the largest aside from Denver). Small settlements may be 20 or so. Glenwood went from 10 to 1. As for the 8 people, I can accept that, however, only a few can be your character(s). All others will essentially be NPC's, and as such aren't impervious to the actions of others.

Not to mention the National Parks Rangers would have disbanded after the outbreak, especially 3 years after.

His father owned a 100 acer farm outside of town that raised many goats and cattle. Gared was the oldest of all of his siblings and worked on the farm instead of going to school. His mother taught him many things including plants and their uses. At age 10 his uncle alowed him to work at his gunsmith shop where he learned to build and fix hunting rifles. After he graduated he kept working on his father's farm. Even with the world in turmoil and madness he got engaged to a women named Betty when he was 37 years old who came from Harrisburg area and worked as a waiter at a dinner. But then tradegy struck, with the US in turmoil from the sickness and with only small pockets of civilization left, bandits came and raised and plundered the farm. Gared was out of town during the raid but was devastated when he came home. His whole family was gone including Betty, except his youngest brother Drew, who held a wood ax but had several bullet holes in his coat. By his brother a note with a arrow seal on was beside him. Later when the Bandits from the north invades he was drafted and was to fight as a Corprol in the militia. After the battle Gared went west to find his uncle.

When he arrived in Aspen he met Matt who was fighting the Vultures. After a brief fight Gared ran away and headed to Salidia. He traveled along living off the land and soon became compainions with Matt and the two traveled along. When they were scavaging a college the two rescued a girl from a cannibal though Matt was severly injured and put into a mini comma while Gared got a slash in his head. Gared carried Matt in a stretcher for the rest of the trip untill being caught by Susquahannite bounty hunter Mike. Soon Gared was reunited with his Uncle Jefferson serving as a scout for Mike. After being captives for a while the remaining soldiers rebel and kill Mike and the loyal soldiers allowing Matt, Gared and Jefferson to countinue to Salidia.

Later, the group flees Salidia into the Wilderness to escape from the Vultures who raided and destroyed the town. Now the group is somewhere in the Wilderness.

Bio:
Sam was born in Castle Rock to her mother and father in a small community of people. Things were hard for the first few years, there were still a lot of infected around the cities, but there was also a plethora of supplies in the area. The group kept far from populated areas. It was the best way to ensure the safety of the children, which there was a surprising amount of. Most of them were older than 9. The younger ones hadn't made it. The community, however, survived there for about 4 years, although peace would not thrive in this city.

She remembers the day vividly, despite her young age at the time. Her mother was teaching her how to draw. They were beginning with color theory, how beautifully the opposite colors accented each other and created a compelling scene. She couldn't remember what she said, but it had made her mom laugh. She loved it when her mom laughed. It was the last time she would ever hear it. A loud boom, followed by a shrill scream interrupted their joy. Her dad arrived a moment afterwards and met his wife's eyes and said only that they had to leave. Her mother began tossing things into a bag, not caring for her usual tidiness. They ran out the door, but her hand slipped out of Sam's as she stopped. "Diana what are you doing?" her father urged.

"I forgot something!" she called as she turned back into the house.

"There's no time for this!" She was too far to hear. With a distressed sigh he tucked Sam and himself against the wall for cover. Diana emerged shortly thereafter clutching something that gleamed in the sunlight. She rushed towards the others, eager to leave. She never made it. A gunshot lodged itself into her leg, then three in her bag. It looked as though she were screaming, but she did not make a sound as she collapsed on the ground. Sam didn't know what was happening, but she had to get to her mom. She tore free of her father's grip, much to his dismay, and ran to her. More shots fired around her, but it was different this time. They came from her father's own pistol. The bandit dropped dead on their porch.

Sam's vision was blurred with tears- what was going on? Why were these people here? Why did they hurt her mom? Frantic questions ran through her small mind, unable to comprehend the situation. She cried and cried, screaming for her mom as her father picked her up and they ran from Castle Rock. Her memory of it was unclear after that, and she had fallen asleep eventually, according to her dad.

In the following weeks, their party of two met with other survivors of Castle Rock as they wandered, hoping to find refuge in the mountains. Eventually, they did. They discovered a group harbored in Estes Park, who welcomed them, albeit apprehensively. She has lived there ever since. Her dad grew into a bitter man. She didn't blame him. He did, however, have his fair share of precious moments with his daughter. She remembers the time he gave her a gift. It was only a few years ago, when she was around 16 or 17. He said it was for her birthday, because she was born in spring and the frost had just ended.

Her present was an ornate necklace of silver. Instead of a pendant, however, a beautiful ring hung from the strand. It was inlaid with glittering gems of varying violets. It was fantastic, and she asked where it came from. He explained that it was the ring with which he took Hannah to be his bride. It was what she had gone back for that day, and the last physical memory of her he had left to give. He kept a photograph of them in his bag, but that was most certainly his to keep.

That was also the year she began supply runs for Estes. First she accompanied two experienced runners on trips. From there she learned the ropes. Next, she and another training teen would go. Now, she was a lone runner, and she was damn good at it. She would disappear for usually about a week, maybe two if she went far. She took a bike to nearby locations, and occasionally even to the foothills. It was one of her favorite things because she was allowed to be alone for a while. For short times, nothing pervaded her mind or threatened her sanity except the cracked asphalt and the wind. She loved it. There are plenty of experiences during her runs to discuss, but that isn't important right now.

For now, our focus is what she is doing as the story begins to unfold.

In Character Right this Way!

Raton, NM is an averaged sized settlement of maybe 40+ people. Predominantly a farming community with a well armed militia. They have allowed the new arrivals to stay for the winter and longer. Get your intro's up. If you're in Raton, Mercer will soon be looking to get people together for a little expedition, as will Striker who will debut soon.

EDIT: Roster will also be updated later tonight.

Name: Matthew John Harlowe [Usually just Matt or Harley]
Nation Name: The Democratic Republic of Mizrad
Birthplace: Boston, Massachusetts
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Age: 45
Pic/Description:
Matt stands at just about five foot eleven and weighs in at around one hundred and eighty five pounds, leaning towards the muscular side. He's got two large scars running vertically down his back and one running horizontally above his left ear. Due to not having focused on hygiene in quite a bit he's grown in a small beard and his hair is a bit scruffy.

Occupation: Former United States/Remnants Marine infantry. Currently a "drifter" of sorts.

Immunity: None. The fact Matt cannot withstand the virus is his achilles heel.

(OPTIONAL)

Personality: Inhumanly loyal yet also cynical and pessimistic. Matt prefers the term "realist". His humor is generally dark or sarcastic. Despite this he can't bring himself to hate people and goes out of his way to help others. He will never admit it but his once happy and outgoing soul drove him to do everything he could to help those less fortunate than himself. The reason he continues to aid people -Even if he has yet to realize it- is because of the fact it's all he has left from his old life.

Skills: Extremely good fighter. Whether it's with a gun, knife, hatchet, brick or his bare hands he'll kill you or take you with him. Due to having no immunities to the virus he has had to force himself to be the best warrior he can be while also having learned to avoid most conflict. This also comes with another problem: hand to hand combat leaves him very susceptible to contracting the disease and this is why he strays from close combat. Matt is very perceptive, clever and quick thinking. After years of having to watch over himself and pick up the slack for his wife and father he has become above average when it comes to motor skills and talking to others. Although now that those he loved are gone he has closed himself off to the rest of the world and albeit holding on to his skill set he's become cold to those who try and get through to him nullifying most of his social skills. (Update as of No Man's Land: Matt has begun to open up more to people)

Likes: People with ideals similar to his own, the (former) United States of America, his few and mostly late friends, alcohol, fishing, gambling, excersize and doing things with his hands.

Dislikes: Anyone who doesn't stay true to their word or use their certain "skill set" in a way that's beneficial to the world, selfish people, liars, tobacco, the weak (ironically), holds a deep hatred against Atlas and plenty of other things.

Fears: Losing those he held close before the outbreak. However now that both his wife and father are gone the few friends he has left sprawled across the country; whereabouts unknown. Thus he no longer values his own life. Deep down he still wants to live and provides himself with a reason to do so by attempting to help other survivors. "Harley" knows that if he can't find a reason to go on he'll most likely spiral into depression once again.

Bio: Born in Boston, Massachusetts eighteen years before the outbreak Matthew James Harlowe had always been a fighter. Having grown up in a middle class area of the city with only his father things were never easy for the Harlowes. Juliette and Garret, Matt's mother and brother were both killed in a car accident when he was only five. Shaken up yet not broken Matt's father James began to adjust to his new life through spending more and more time at work while Matt spent his practicing anything that involved his body. Boxing? Check. Football? Check. Carpentry? Check. As age set in on James and he could no longer be out in the field as a detective he settled in at home and worked as a mechanic. Meanwhile Matt reached his teenage years. Doing above average yet not amazing in school, anything in a B- to B+ range would be his usual. He even managed to save up a good deal of money and find himself a wonderful girl. Yet college wasn't in his sights. The United States Marine Corps was.

As his father had many years ago, Matt enlisted with the USMC and was rushed through training. Almost immediately after completing basic and SOI he was rushed off to help contain the virus. The majority of his fellow Marines perished in their seemingly futile attempts and when all but four of his platoon had fallen to the infection they decided to go their seperate ways and meet once again later. Private Alfonso Garcia went east to try and regroup with anybody from the fractured American government. Sergeant Connor Wayne and Private Aiyden DeRoyce went south upon hearing of Texas offering safety. All the while Harley went straight home to find his father and soon to be wife holed up in their house nearing death. Deciding that staying within the city would be their best chance at survival Matt returned to the Remnants and served with them until Boston fell. After this he served with the Massachusetts Bay Colony Armed Forces and did so until the city was hit hard by the infected. Despite Boston holding on, they left in the mass exodus that followed. Having found out that Alfonso had decided to also return to the Remnants the two made contact through what communications systems were left behind by the government. While Garcia decided to hide out just outside of Richmond and planned on staying there Matt took his family and went west to see if the other end of the country had suffered a similar fate. On his way Harley's wife was killed by bandits leaving James and Matt the last Harlowes not in Boston. Fortunately enough James, unbeknownst to even himself for a good deal of time, was a "gifted" infected nearly rendering his old age void. Unfortunately this left the pair shunned by most communities and Matthew did not get the gene and wound up with no immunities.

Thus the lonely two drifters evolved into a pair of vigiliantes and used their skills to help others. Towns and farms plagued by bandits? These were the two you'd run for. Yet this time would not last. Upon reaching Colorado the duo found themselves squaring off with a massive pack of lurkers and were lured in by the cries of a weeper. Quickly discovering they were being surrounded James gave his son his bag and told him to run. After stiff resistance James finally forced his son to flee from the danger. All he could witness before sprinting away was his father going toe to toe with the infected monsters. About a month later with his life in utter shambles Matt reached Colorado and began an attempt to start anew. This attempt to settle down would be short lived as he quickly got caught up with all sorts of different people and found himself in the middle of events that would change the state of the post-apocalyptic world forever.

He first came into contact with the group known as "The Vultures" before they became the Dominion by seeing what they had done to Glenwood. Matt traveled to Aspen in hopes of helping them fend off the raiders but it did nearly no good and he failed. Brought to the edge, Matt began wandering through the woods to the nearest town when he met Gared. The two formed a bond and when they saved a young girl at WSCU from a psycho, causing Matt to receive bad wounds, Gared and the girl brought him to the safety of Salida. It was there where things started going quick. The girl left, Salida was attacked, Gared was shot, they were captured, escaped, found allies, lost allies and then at last wound up within the relative "safety" of Salida. A short while later the settlement was razed which sent Matt and Gared to Razon with the other survivors.
