Judging by the responses, the issue seems to be the same as that of gender - i.e., generally irrelevant.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

Sorry, guys. Busy week, and others' schedules keep knocking my sleep schedule way off course.

NA, please drag me whenever I don't respond and you want to move it move it, ok?

Thoughts before bed - as my post isn't getting finished tonight.

Ghost in a Shell and the casting controversies:

Kusanagi (the Major) is a full body cyborg. This is the entire point of the 'ghost' housed in the empty 'shell'. The series, in all its forms, strove to ask three questions of the reader/viewer:

  1. "What exactly is the definition of 'human' in a society where a mind can be copied and the body replaced with a synthetic form?"
  2. "What exactly is the 'ghost' —the human soul— in the cybernetic body, or 'shell'?"
  3. "Where is the boundary between human and machine when the differences between the two become more philosophical than physical?"
We're supposed to find ourselves intrigued by a bit of Theseus' paradox. The paradox doesn't concern itself with "The ship can't be a properly portrayed ship unless it's birch".

Is Kunsanagi (the Major) is still human now that 97.5% of her organic brain has been replaced by a cyberbrain? The rest of her isn't human at all. Having a non-Asian portray her in the movie only reinforces how 'alien' the character has become. Kunsanagi lost her self-identity. She possesses her character in thought and self-governed action alone. She can also be hacked and this knowledge is a turmoil which results in repeated conflict within the series. It's masterfully done in the manga and various screen/series incarnations. It's the stuff of Japanese dreams (as most go about their day as ghosts in a society-conforming shell - how much of our true character remains after we have bowed to cultural demands?)

I'm more concerned they won't get the Tachikoma units right. Asbæk as Batou seems a decent choice. Could have been someone with larger frame, IMHO, but he fits in other ways.

I am actually very surprised to see you as a Ghost in the Shell fan, Cer. Or at least as someone with much knowledge on the anime & manga series.

The ones I do play are starting to get boring. I can play alone, but my main reasons for gaming, even single player, was to chat with friends who were online :/

Perhaps we can recommend some few games we know of?

Sorry, always like to call myself as "we" in conversation.

Hmm, we know about This War is Mine. And Alpha Protocol.

Not a fan of games like those at all. Well, maybe Alpha Protocol...I like Deus Ex. I'm looking forward on getting Battlefield 1 first thing.

I'm having fun right now with Fallout. Bloodborne and Dark Souls are always great time killers. I have Resident Evil 4 and Skullgirls, I just don't have motivation to play those right now. Since a shitty PC crash that wiped all my games, Europa Universalis 4 is all I got, besides Total Annihilation and a nice little indie game called Tower of Heaven....and Katawa Shoujou....

I have fun with my games, I iust can't find as much fun when I'm not chatting with online buddies or playing multiplayer.

I'm going to ask for that post to be removed from the IC. But you can find the last post for them by doing a search for "Adventures in the Village" in the thread. viewtopic.php?p=30204103#p30204103.

Will post after work if not too tired. I have to leave in a half hour. No time to work on anything now.

Tilt, are you going to be active the next few weeks? I'm crafting a post for the lobby people but I don't want to send them there for soup if you're busy IRL.

No worry. I do it all the time. I usually catch the mistake and delete the post in time.

Alright then! I probably won't get to the post until this evening. Tired from an early morning.
