James genuinely laughs at the joke for a brief moment, before calming down and saying "Man, I haven't had a laugh like that in quite a long while. And yeah, some moments I feel like I don't want these powers, like they're a curse. But to me, these abilities are part of who I am, and to take them away from me would be like stripping away part of my personality, I wouldn't be the same. So, often I like to think of it like a curse, but a good curse in a sense."

James pauses for a moment to catch his breath, then slightly chuckles "Boy, that sure got deep didn't it?" he says cheerfully.

"Yes it did," she replies. The silence becomes awkward. "It was nice talking to you James. I better get back to the front though!" She waves bye and speeds up to the front, humming Tiesto's remix of Adagio for Strings.

"Let's just say we also have a good idea of where their... Assets came from," Question replied. "And by taking one of them alive, we risk another escape. Most might not be able to operate on their own, but these two were genetically designed to be one man armies who don't require the support that other units do."

Milo attempted to dodge and misjudged his speed, and ended up taking a knife to the chest as he ran. Time to lose these guys... he thought, using his free hand to reach to his belt and find a smoke grenade. But this wasn't any smoke grenade, when he threw it, it released many smaller canisters that all sprayed smoke in the air also.

X ignored his wounds and punched through the other side of the room that he was in, stepping out in the opposite side of the corridor and getting into an elevator. They're stronger than we thought. But not strong enough, not yet.

Honor was still smiling, and she just laughed. My first kiss in... Two years I think? And it's in the dark in the basement of a school, with a demoness. I didn't expect that, but I can't complain. "Yeah, I'm sure," she said. "We should get back to the others with this weapon, and maybe we can figure out how to use it to stop the attackers."

Gabriel stayed silent before giving Lance a quick kiss and backing away. "Death... It's fitting. I believe I was an Angel of death, I guess we're really meant to be together."

Meanwhile, Benson put on his helmet and considered his plan. Remember. Every person has an inherent worth. Something that makes them valuable to you. But they also have flaws that make them a liability. Even these clones can't be perfect. There must be some weakness that can be exposed.

Johannes was surprised when the lights suddenly turned off. "SHIT!" He yelled as he stumbled onto the floor, thankfully, no one was there to see him. He fumbled around for his set of night vision goggles and eventually found them. "Someone is going to pay for this." He said, loading his tranq. pistol with a more potent cocktail that would knock someone out and cause them to wake up with a serious headache and body ache and coating his combat knife with blow fish toxin. He started off into the hallway when he got an uneasy feeling. "There is something very wrong here. I'd better find someone to see if they know what is going on." He ran down the hallway, checking his corners as he went along.

Apostol only continued to fire his weapon, emptying and reloading the small pistol when it was necessary, doing so until his ammunition supply ran dry. In the smoke, he only stood there, heavily staring at the Makarov PM, it's slide locked back, the chamber free of any bullets. Releasing the slide, Apostol holstered it and walked over to Hayate, who was feeling slightly better now that she had some rest, but was still covered in the drying out blood.

"Not bad, Apostol, not bad...... So, did you get 'em?" Inquired the wounded Hayate, holding one particular graze on her left arm.

However, before he could reply, Apostol was snapped out of Danger Reaction, next giving his response. "Th-Thanks.... A-And no, although I did manage land the knife you gave, but both of them got away."

"Can you get me to the clinic first? I just need some patching up." Requested Hayate, as the boy supported her up and guided her all the way to the medical bay. There she was treated for her wounds and given several pain relievers, then going against the staff's present there and headed back out to the hallways to find the enemy the had engaged.

She moved forward until Austins back met a wall. Then she slipped her hands under his cloths and let them glide over the scales on his back. She had to fight hard to stop herself from letting everyone in the room know how pleasurable this felt. She stopped kissing him for a moment, but only to allow them both to take a quick breath before she kissed him again. She stopped noticing anything in the room. Her world was shrunk down to Austins and her own body.

He pulled her in closer, not wanting to let go for anything. The universe shrunk down to him and her. The dreams of their past floating away into the distant darkness. His dream was standing right in front of him. They kissed for several minutes, but it felt like years. Austin had no way of letting her go, space and time around them seemed to go slower, as blurs of other students passed ambiently around them in the dark.

"If I could, I'd stay here forever." The scales were shaking all over his body, it was something he only ever experienced when extremely happy.

"You don't know how long I've waited for someone like you to pop up in my life."

He softly held her against him, with his hands wrapped delicately around her body.

Zuri had no idea how much time had passed when she finally stopped kissing Austin. “I hope I am worth the waiting.” She said while holding on to him. “Oh... since when is the door open?” Zuri was a little surprised when she noticed they were no longer trapped. “Maybe we should get out of here. We could try to find the guy who is responsible for this whole ordeal. Or we could just search for a quiet place.” She looked into his eyes, on her face was the same predatory smile she had shown earlier. “What do you think?”

"What the hell happened? We're free already?" Austin kissed Zuri as other students started flooding out of the area. He didn't really feel like going and looking for the masked guy, Zuri had relaxed him far too much for any drama now.

"Let's find someplace quiet then, perhaps our room?" he smiled, raising an eyebrow.

He took her hand and they went back down the elevator and along the corridor, back to their room. As they both entered, he closed the door behind them, then playfully jumped onto one of the beds, looking back at his girlfriend.

"This seems quiet, don't you think?" He laughed.

Johannes stepped through the corridor like a snake slithering through the underbrush. He stopped occasionally to listen to any noise that he considered to be out of the ordinary. "Damn, hierdie plek is 'n doolhof." He said to himself as he went down a flight of stairs. Hearing noises and footsteps coming from down the hallway, Johannes hid in a nearby corridor. "Shit, iemand kom." He said in Afrikaans, readying his pistol and blade. He turned to confront the unknown assailent, but was greeted with a dark empty corridor. "Dammit, someone is here, I know it."

Anton Greaves
Anton moved forward, walking at a controlled, urgent pace. It was a strange feeling, having people at his side. Sure, they were there to either help the school, not out of any loyalty to him, but the feeling of knowing that someone has your back made him feel better. He tried to shake it off. After all, he alone carried the burden of protecting this dimension from extinction. And yet try as he might, he still enjoyed the company of so many.

Anton paused for a moment, slowing his movement. Perhaps the company of too many. He knew he needed the help of a few, but this group was expanding by the minute, ballooning from two to six to now eleven. Anton shook his head. This made no tactical sense. If eleven of them went to reclaim the control room, the intruders would get to their objective before he, James, and Marissa got the security back online.

Stopping, Anton turned around to face the group. "I appreciate the intuitive you all are showing, but this isn't the best us of our resources. The control room situation will be taken care of. What we need now are people to buy us time to get the systems online again." Gesturing to Coilin, Anton asked "Can you scan for the intruders?"

The wheelchair bound telepath cocked an eye. "Didn't I already do that?"

"Yes, but we need to know where. I can't send them out blindly and with the security cams down, I've got no other option." Anton replied, rolling his eyes at Coilin's initial look of disapproval.

Coilin lifted a hand to his head, closing his eyes for a moment. While he did, Anton whispered something to Marissa, who only nodded. After a beat, the telepath's eyelids snapped open, and pointed down the hall. "Our guests are entering the power level. It'd be rude for them arrive without a welcome committee." He turned his wheelchair to group of students who had joined them. "Go show them some of our trademark hospitality, won't you?"

Anton nodded, "We'll join as soon as we can, hopefully with more back up then just ourselves. Good luck." Turning, Anton and his original group moved on, while the others turned to slow down the intruders. As Anton's group ran, he signaled to Marissa, who tapped a button on the screen of her personal computer. A heavy blast door slammed itself down, cutting off Anton, James, Coilin, Raven, Marissa, and Karl from the others. If they were determined, they could go around it, but it'd discourage them from following.

The familiar pull of the symbiote entered his mind. Anton, was that really the best plan?

Anton thought back to it, explaining how he didn't know if the others would really listen to him, so he had done it as a security measure to try to get them to fight the intruders. It was would come in handy if the interlopers overpowered their allies, hopefully slowing them down enough for him to think of a plan.

Soon, the party arrived in front of the control room. The enormous black metal door was shut tight. Similar to the door in the assembly room, it had a seal, preventing it from being forced open. He didn't bother scanning it's composition. After all, if the assembly doors were made of tank armor, then no doubt this was stronger. Luckily, they didn't plan on charging in unawares. Anton stood to the side, allowing the symbiote to form a riot shield around his left arm while his right materialized a sonic cannon. He considered using his plasma weapon, but decided against it. He didn't want to damage any counsels inside.

He motioned the students to stay up near the wall away from the doors opening. Anton, Marissa and James moved to the side of the wall closest to the controls, while Raven, Coilin, and Karl moved to the other side. After all, there was no telling what awaited him on the other side of that wall. He turned to Marissa, who was fiddling with the lock. "You think you can get this open?"

In response, the seal visibly retracted. She looked up and smirked. "I'm sorry, what were you saying? I couldn't hear over the sound of that door unlocking." Anton shook his head and grinned in spite of himself.

Signalling to his team, the door retracted, and they rushed in, Raven out pacing them all. Anton, ducking behind his shield, scanned the room for enemies. But he detected nothing on sonar, infrared or visible light spectrums. Either there were very patient invisible guards, or there was nothing here. Nothing except a student, passed out on the ground, sparks of electricity coming off his body at random. Symbiote, identify

Anton's HUD flashed student's faces until on came up that matched. His name is Machina, and he appears to be the answer to our power dilemma. Essentially, he's living lightning, with the ability to power most machines with his life-force. Anton grinned. Looks like we got some luck.

Turning back to the students, Anton gave the good news. "I think we've found a way to restore power to the counsels without messing with time." Gesturing to the unconscious kid, Anton continued. "This is Machina, an energy being. If I can convince him to help, I think I can get the security systems on, even some of the counter measures." With the power out, Anton was originally just planning on opening all the doors freeing the trapped guards and students, while shutting down exits. Now, it was possible that they could even fuel the defenses.

There's more here. When I pulled the student applications, I managed to snag this file. Look.

He is known as expiriment M-ChE, though he goes by Machina, he has no other known names. In the course of testing him I realized that he is broken inside, and not just a little but completely shattered. His mind and body have been forced to go through countless tests for no reason than to see how far they could push him. They would perform minding destroying experiments until his mind shattered, then they would stop let him rebuild it, but there would always be imperfections, scars that healed wrong. He has never had a loving figure in his life, so he has been forced to see only the evil of his masters as they tortured him. The "Incident" was not his fault, he was sent out by his masters to see how much damage he could cause and all of the injuries given were unintentional and cause him great sorrow. I only wish that I could have identified him sooner. Because of the extensiveness of my research, I recommend that we send Machina to the one place where he can learn to harness his powers and be safe while leaving behind the damages he created is the Academy of villains.

Reading it struck a chord. He understood that scientists had reasons for their experiments, but this one seemed needlessly cruel. Anton reread it, taking into account the shattered mind aspect. If this was true, then Machina might act irrationally. He'd have to try his hardest to ensure he achieved his goal.

Moving away from Machina, Anton turned back to the group and began giving orders. "Alright, lets get to work. Coilin, see if you can start to assault the minds of our enemies. That ought to slow them down. Raven and James, you have two options. Either stand by in case my negotiations with Machina fail, or try and take down the intruders. Either way, you guys are heavy hitters, so you'll need to decide on something. Marissa, Karl and I will bring this place online." With that, he slid himself under the main security terminal, messing with it until he had pulled out one end of the main power wire. Bringing the wire with him, he spoke gentle to Machina, sending a small jolt of bioelectricity to wake him up (it did replenish his life-force after all.)

"Excuse me, Machina? I don't want to hurt you. I just want to talk."

Coilin nodded. "Favorite pass time. Messing with the minds of imbeciles." he said, smiling at Anton.

And then he looked at Raven, frowning. "From what I've picked up, these blokes aren't your normal people. Genetically enhanced, and all that. More speed and strength than the average man. Take that into account please, I'd hate to have to save your butt." he said.

"And I'm sure you'd hate to have it saved by a cripple like me." Coilin continued with a chuckle.

Even though I'd like to save one so good loo-...

"None of my kills were normal people."

She grinned, remembering how fast and strong some of her opponents had been, and how she had been faster. She had been stronger.

She had knocked a gun from a man's hand before he even knew what was happening.

She had toppled a man twice her size.

She had trained and trained until she practically had powers of her own...

"Except for those three..." Coilin said, putting a finger to the side of his nose. "Anyway, go get 'em champ. Make sure to make it pretty. I'll be watching."

He moved the finger up to his temple, an evil-looking smile appearing on his face.

"You're right," she said decisively.

"The only abnormal thing about those three was that they died slowly."

And it hurt. I know it hurt... Because I watched them sob and beg for me to just kill them quickly... I heard them screaming...

The most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

The most beautiful music I've ever heard.

"I hope you're gonna make the death of these two superhumans a close second..." Coilin said, the smile pervading his features.

He frowned and looked at Machina. "Pure electricity... huh..."

Have you ever heard of so many supernatural beings in one place? I've never met one, and now I get to see the full portfolio! he sent to Raven.

"Alright, then I suppose I''ll just try to take down the guards with Raven while you deal with...whatever that thing is." James scans the room, looking for enemies. So far, there didn't seemed to be any, either they weren't here yet or they simply had some very good disguising techniques. Either way, he had to be prepared. James didn't like killing but he was sure good at it.

Ready for anything, James takes out a hidden pair of dual knives, for when his time powers didn't serve well enough. Hopefully the negotiations didn't fall apart, he could only be in one place at once. "I'm not seeing anything.... where are these guards?" James says aloud. He briefly glances at Machina, and is both curious and wary. A being of pure electricity huh? That could be either very good or very bad. Let's just hope Anton can calm the A.I down, otherwise we might be in more trouble than just the guards.

"Sorry, I can't," she said. "They'd have to earn that... and as of yet they've done nothing despicable enough to me to warrant such a death. But I'll try to make it painful."

No. No, I haven't. She sounded almost... grudging.

... Am I bothering you? I'll stop if you ask. he responded to her, sounding concerned.

Nikolai paces the room, waiting for Allison to finish questioning Question (...). Why was she so cautious? She wasn't going to die, not on his watch. He would get struck with a vision of her getting killed if she was about to die. He sighs, bored. Looking to be helpful in some manner, Nikolai enters his Death Stance, and begins summoning a horde of zombies, his trustworthy Franz Ferdinand, the shogun, and various deceased simulated guards down both halls, half of them to assist in fighting X and Milo while Franz leads the other half to assist in capturing the control room.

Oh, it's not you...

Just an inferiority complex. Thanks to those three boys... I tend to feel like I'm being looked down on a lot.

Especially here, where it seems like everyone else has special powers of some sort. They were just gifted with them. Me? I had to work to get here. I had to suffer a lot. And they all just got special powers, just like that.

Well, that doesn't mean I'm not just as good as them. Better than them. And I'm going to prove it.
