It would take about a thousand bottles of Skooma in order for my character to jump to Valenwood.

I might change my posting to add that she swipes somethings from the campground on the edge of town before she leaves,

Swords over mantles, perhaps behind a Stormcloak or Legion shield. Lots and lots of tools. Ingots of various metals, from the smithy. A veteran might even have kept his armor. Horses. A few bags of feed, for the horses you already have. Maybe somebody has a good saddle. They certainly have Amulets of Mara, probably other holy symbols. There are probably potions in every building, at least cheap ones. And remember, there is at least one somewhat rich person in Rorikstead, whose last name is Rorik.

Farming villages have plenty of loot. In fact, farm houses tend to have far more things in them than most people's houses.

It does help that I grew up in a farm village, though mine had a railroad station. And we called the campground a "trailer park." 8)

Nobles typically try to get out of these situations by manipulating people. Instead of figuring out how to escape from the tower, figure out how to get them to move you to someplace from which it would be easier to escape, such as a hospital or courtroom. Zorro once did it by trading places with a dead body, then escaping from the graveyard.

If you insist on doing it the magical way, there are illusion spells. Or maybe you could do some clandestine alchemy experiments. Levitation does still exist, even though it was banned. Perhaps you could manipulate them into feeding you trama roots and sweetpulp.

"Lieutenant, I want the remaining security personnel on alert for the night. I dont want anyone messing up the festival.".

Makes me want to have Enkara fight a running battle through the festival. Sadly, he's heading the opposite direction.

Its a farming village. It wont have swords and shields over mantles. Thats stuff you find in rich peoples houses.
Plus, the rorik guy was dead ages ago. The town was originally named rorik's stead, as in belonging to a guy that is no longer alive.
I have not seen ingots in smithys in any town in the game except the ones with mines attached and a smelter, so no I dont think there will be any obvious ignots laying around the smithy.
Amulets and rings and whatever other holy symbols they have would likely count as either jewlery or knick nacks lying around their house. Vampire lady would have swiped those.
A war veteran would be in a big city, not a farming community. Soldiers go to war, not farmers.
And no, in mideval times, which elder scrolls is based on, farming houses did not have more stuff in them than in most houses.
They were sparsely decorated small houses for poor people. Not much of anything in there.

Now, as for the book title idea, probably not a good idea. The title would confuse people seeing as, as far as I can tell from the games, there are only two shades of dumner. dark grey that is almost black in the right light, and light grey like a dusty covered cabinet.

In Skyrim, there are a lot of old veterans who kept their swords.

Plus, the rorik guy was dead ages ago. The town was originally named rorik's stead, as in belonging to a guy that is no longer alive.

I'm sure he had kids. Notice, I did not give a first name. That is because I do not know the names of the current generation of Roriks.
I have not seen ingots in smithys in any town in the game except the ones with mines attached and a smelter, so no I dont think there will be any obvious ignots laying around the smithy.

And yet, the smiths still manage to stay in business.

Amulets of Mara are special, as they are part of the marriage traditions of Skyrim. You'll find them in places where you wouldn't find much other jewelry.
A war veteran would be in a big city, not a farming community.

Veterans live where they like. There is no such thing as a place where no veterans live.
Soldiers go to war, not farmers.

Farmers go to war and become soldiers. When they leave the Legion, they return to their farms.
And no, in mideval times, which elder scrolls is based on, farming houses did not have more stuff in them than in most houses.

Farm houses have to have more stuff, because that is where all the work is done. Rich people may have all the art and jewlery, but but the poor have all the tools of their trades. Plus, farmers never throw away anything.
They were sparsely decorated small houses for poor people. Not much of anything in there.

Who cares about decorations? They have useful stuff, like tools, trade goods and food.

Now, as for the book title idea, probably not a good idea. The title would confuse people seeing as, as far as I can tell from the games, there are only two shades of dumner. dark grey that is almost black in the right light, and light grey like a dusty covered cabinet.

There's a color slider. You can make a purple Dunmer, if you like. I made a blue Dunmer with bright purple hair, for my Oblivion character.

I should also note that Roman legionaries, upon which Imperial Legionaries are based, were given a farmstead when they retired. It's likely that this is how Rorik received his land in Rorikstead and there may be many other veterans across Skyrim.
