Character Name: Izumo (Last Name) Kaga (First Name)
Age: 19
Gender: Female, Human.
Nationality: Sakurian, from the city of Sakurai
Appearance:
Current -
Kaga looking fierce in battle
Kaga in a more relaxed mood
Locked Appearances -
Kaga as a lady
Biography: The daughter of a samurai from the far eastern city of Sakurai, Kaga was born into the Izumo family of warrior-priests, where sons are sent to be trained as soldiers, and daughters bred to be fine women for clan diplomacy. Kaga experienced a tough childhood of strict discipline and education, with the males often abusing her for her lack of womanly grace. By the time she reached fifteen, Kaga has learnt how to serve, cook, and brew exotic Sakurian teas. Molded into a capable courtier worthy to be married into a nobleman's family, there was only one thing left to do before someone approached the family for her hand.
Secretly the Izumo family sought to breed children who may be blessed with magic. Kaga was one of the finest in the bloodline over many generations, a genius in their eyes. She was frequently abused and allowed to be targeted by rival gangs, with the condition that they keep her chastity intact for the night after marriage. One day, while resting after being beaten to the point of unconsciousness, Kaga felt a tug on her sleeve, a slave boy giving her a herbal drink. Kaga learnt that she is to be sold to a neighboring clan to be wed to an abusive man, who had his eyes on her the first time they met. Refusing to let herself be bound to such a life, Kaga escaped with a set of weapons and clothing, aided by the slave boy, who managed to grab a coin purse before fleeing.
Kaga's joy was short-lived, when she kidnapped by group of bandits, and the slave boy beheaded in front of her. While the bandits marveled her exotic features, they refrained from touching her for fear of any hidden powers she may bear. Ultimately, Kaga was rescued by a group of rangers who raided the slave camp where she was transported with dozens of other children. Brought up by the rangers, Kaga learnt the basics of hunting and archery, as well as some swordsmanship. It was here that the courtesan Izumo Kaga was molded into a young adventurer, independent and ready to take on the bigger world.
Retrieving her equipment, Kaga bade her guardians farewell and left upon reaching the age of maturity. Traveling with caravans and merchants as a guard, Kaga sought to reach a city where she might find her destiny as an adventurer, escaping the confines of hierarchy she has grown to hate.
Skills/Magical Ability: Proficient with longbows, scimitars and longswords. Kaga is able to repair basic weapons and mend light armour. Skills include brewing, crafting, acrobatics, stealth, tracking, archery, swordsmanship.
Equipment: An yew longbow and a quiver of arrows, an iron shortsword, a hairband made from rubber sap, a dyed thin wooden chest protector, painted groin and bow-arm protectors , an extra set of common clothes, a blue scarf, a coin pouch with 50 gold pieces, a blue Sakurian sapphire worth 500 gold pieces.

History
The city of Sakurai is a place unique in Doregon. A province of humans, their exotic features from the other humans of Doregon makes them distinguishable at first sight. The males have smaller eyes, and often keep their hair short, or tied to the back. The females have skin paler than most of Doregon, and their hair exists in black and silver. Smaller in stature, legend says that they are a people who traded their physical build for much stronger internal strength and resilience. The males adopt a warrior culture, often going on raids and pillages or engaging in inter-clan war, while the females often serve as courtiers or shrine maidens. Those who do not engage in the listed occupations work the economy and industry which feeds every city in Doregon.
Many years ago, the War of the Winds happened, and Sakurai was nearly torn apart when the clans of Shimakaze, Yukikaze, Hamakaze and Kamikaze engaged in a civil war so brutal that the population was effectively decimated. Each clan head vied for the position of Shogun, the head of the civil and military government of Sakurai, and the lesser clans were not spared. One significant event which happened during the opening stages of the war was the Blow of Death, when over forty clan leaders were killed in a single sweep by the Kamikaze Clan's assassins. While the leadership was dealt a death blow, Clan Kamikaze assimilated the forty clans' troops, and set about eliminating potential opponents and dissidents. Almost every clan lost 8 out of 10 people, and Sakurai turned into a ghost city overnight.
The war would continue for a whole year, until all four warring clans were exhausted and destroyed by a popular uprising. The warriors of this uprising, the samurai, were hailed as heroes by the populace, and are showered with gifts and tributes.

The Knights of the Stormfather and the Holy Shards
It was in the end, when Arrenis the Great felt the Darkness of his days coming, that he began his Last Great Purpose. No-one but the Thirteen and One have eternal life, not even the Elf Gavrilrest was not truly granted Time Immemorial. All mortal beings come to dust, whether it be sooner or later. This was a divine vision seen by Arrenis the Great in the years before his passing, said to be given unto him by the Stormfather as a final token of divinity. In his waning days, Arrenis did no longer look at the Present for guidance. He looked back for wisdom, and ahead for salvation. What wisdom he found is unknown, but what he did for Salvation is known well by the Order of Arrenis, keepers of his legacy.
For it was in these days, when humanity truly ruled the world, that the Great Warrior founded the Order of Arrenis, Maninot fer y Drivasil op Nundaril. The Knights of the Stormfather and the Holy Shards. Arrenis knew, in all his wisdom, that his keeping of the First Shard would have to pass down somewhere in order to keep the peace and security of his empire, to keep the 12 at bay should they return from their Self-imprisonment. He also knew that there was only to be grand salvation when the Stormfather was released from his Bonding Eternal. So, with all the wisdom given unto the Founder, he gave these knights a simple directive. Keep the Shards safe, and prepare for the coming of the One.
In the last years of Arrenis, the duty of these knights was more of a guarding nature. Arrenis, old and dying, travelled the world for a last time to seek for the Shards, and to ask forgiveness from those he wronged. He visited many a grave, paid homage to the two Dwarven cities, laid flowers at the Wood Army where the Elves had once walked. His guards learned his ways, protected their master, accompanied him and gained much wisdom from the travels. These thirteen guards, a reference to the Thirteen and One divines, would later become the Thirteen Grand Masters, the First of the Order.
(Image)
The night before his demise, Arrenis was laid on his tombstone, a tomb that was made to serve as his final sarcophagus. With him were the Thirteen, the First of the Order, and the first generation of his descendants, those who had gone to call themselves Stone. The moon rose slowly over the distant mountains, caressing the darkened land in a silver shroud of light. The life drained slowly from the body of Arrenis the Great, who had gone through such great lengths to search for the Shards, be it in vain. Just before the moon reached her full potential, and traversed above the tower itself, Arrenis handed over two books. The accounts of his travels and his works, and descriptions of the Shard itself. The two books were identical, there was not a fault between them. Not only were they identical, but when the daughter of Arrenis left a tear on the Book of the Family, the Book of the Order gained a small wet spot. These books were such perfect copies that they repelled each other when near, and they had to be held at opposite sides of the tower.
After handing over his accounts, the moon reached her high point above the tower, a stance she would only reach once in many lifetimes. It was at that very moment that Arrenis the Great, slayer of Gods and conqueror of the World, turned to stone on his own sarcophagus, becoming the guardian of his own empty tomb. The knights then vowed allegiance to the Stone family, before taking the tomb of Arrenis and transporting it with them to their castle at Cair Transdertan, where they put him to a final rest among the members of the Order, protected by them all as the First Shardbearer. The Book of the Order, the copy of the Accounts of Arrenis, formed the basis of a great library that was to be constructed near Cair Transdertan, along the River Saeros.
The Order has changed over the twelve generations since the death of Arrenis. As the library at Saeros grew with myths and wisdom, along with many accounts of the many kingdoms and cities of the World, so did the importance of the Order change. The Order, no longer fulfilling their duty as guards to Arrenis, lost their militaristic edge, and became a more monastic order, more in tune with the magical world beyond. The armour and the Winged Helmets made room for robes and books. The sword, however, has never left the side of the Knights, and they are still adept swordsmen, be it more refined and elegant than the brutish ways of their forbearers. They seek out knowledge among the world, travel the many kingdoms and libraries in search for hints of knowledge from the other Shards. Some Knights seek the wilderness, some travel the deep Dwarven chasms for rumours of what they seek.
However deeply hidden, the loyalty of the Order has not changed. Still, they serve the Stone family, and it is the only loyalty they hold higher than their loyalty to the Stormfather. The oath they take, be it in the most ancient language of Man, still says that they are bound by Stone Blood before they are bound by the Divivne. The Castle at Cair Transdertan has transformed to a monastery of forts, her hillsides overgrown with flowers in various patterns and gardens of many sorts. They still keep the library at Saeros Bridge, and are very weary for outsiders coming close to their homeland.
The ranks of the Knights are filled by a process that some would call immoral, but it is a necessary part of keeping the Order alive. Agents of the Order travel far and wide to find children that are magically inclined. When these children are found, they are taken in the nights, with a compensation left for them in their crib. This compensation can take many forms, from simple currency to gems and precious stones, sometimes even long-lost items or memories of times gone by. These children are raised by the order, taught in the most prestigious library that exists in the Land, until they reach a certain age. Then, they enter the catacombs, the Ever-winding steps down to the tomb of Arrenis. The trails are dangerous, many unholy beasts guard the way down to the sarcophagus. These children, often aged twenty-something, undergo great peril at the hands of the ancient guardians, and are told to go and read whatever text is written on the lid of the sarcophagus. This is written in runes of an ancient nature, older than humanity itself, and what it says is different for everyone going down there.
During these dangerous travels, the Adepts often discover their magical ability through their great fear and danger, and their magic is unlocked through this process. What they find on the sarcophagus is different for each person, but it is often deeply personal and it reaches deep into the hearts of those entering the tomb. When they get back, they have to recite what they have read, and that is their access into the order. From the moment those words are spoken, they are members of the Order. The beginning of a long career of searching the globe for signs of wisdom and old artefacts that could help them. With the dangers of the world rising from the very depths of hell, they have taken on themselves to save the world from whatever evil is coming their way, whatever storm approaches them from beyond.
I wrote this as a possible Knighthood that could exist in the world. If the OP agrees with this, I can start writing my character as being a part of this monastic order.

Character Name: Aevan d'Autriche
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Nationality: Airaldanian
Appearance:(Image)
Biography: Aevan had a very fortunate childhood, being born into one of the most prominent noble families in all of Airaldan. Aevan was brought up with a silver spoon in his mouth, he was given the finest tutors a man could wish for, the greatest swordsmen, intellectuals, horsemen, poets and musicians that money could buy provided the young noble's education and a long and prestigious bloodline filled with magicians provided him with additional skills.
However this pampering has instilled a feeling of entitlement and arrogance in the young noble. He feels as if he is owed the world and deserves it too. Although it has also created a drive and perfectionism in him which can be a positive thing, he strives to be as good as possible at everything but also can be furious when he isn't.
Aevan's father recently died of an unexpected illness which suddenly claimed his life. Although foul play is rumoured so far nothing has been proven and autopsies have shown no traces of poison or magic use. Aevan has now claimed his place as leader of his family and has been relentless in his drive for power.
Recently he has been taken under the wing of Grand Magister Adolinar as a protégé of sorts and has received influence and power beyond his years. Although he has not yet been granted a prominent seat in the Airaldan court he is being lined up to achieve a key position. Aevan has worked as a sort of enforcer so far for Adolinar, acquiring support from other nobles, priests and mages through violence, threats or diplomacy and has been ever-present in Adolinar's bids to maintain power. However even now at his young age Aevan is making preparations to dispose of his master and obtain the coveted position of Grand Magister. Aevan secretly aspires to reform the country into an empire and wipe out the vast majority of noble houses. For now though he is the Grand Magister's faithful servant.
Skills/Magical Ability: Aevan is decently skilled at combat magics but not at much else. His talents are unrefined and raw, he shows great promise but needs far more training and education if he is ever going to become the truly great magician he has the potential to become and being so wrapped-up in politics Aevan has somewhat neglected training his powers.
Equipment: Flamboyant black and red armour (the colours of his house) the standard gauntlets chest piece helmet etc. suit of armour, a dragon talisman which helps amplify magical powers, a longsword and a large barded horse named Avil.
Additional Information: His family sigil is a red lion on a black background

Biography: Eileen is from a well-known noble family whose bloodline can be traced to various magicians and mages. Her upbringing was strict and disciplined, she was given education, clothings, training with the arcane arts and honing to be a better lady.
However, she deviated from her father and mother's desire to become a refined noble. She became interested with blades and the art of the shadows, and her father scolded her about it. She challenged her father to a duel to prove herself worthy, in which she was just laughed at. She quickly disabled her father and had a knife pointed at his throat, telling him if her show is enough to convince and satisfy him. Her father reluctantly agreed with her wish and she let him go.
She then decided to join the ranks of the Magisterium and studied lethal arts. She slowly climbed up the ladder of success and was known as the Assassin of the Magisterium. After years of training, news reached her ears that her father died at his bed, and her step-mother is now in charge of House Morrigen. She quickly sent forth to her house, marching up the stairs as she publicly brought out her blades for her whole household to see. The guards tried to stop her yet Eileen dispatched them quickly with a throwing knife to each of their throats, telling them that treachery will never go unpunished. She opened the Master's Bedroom and she saw that the vile wretch was trying on her late mother's dresses. She dragged the woman by the hair and had her tied up naked for all her servants and other people to see. She had her whipped the whole day until her step-mother died of excessive blood loss and exposure, in which she had the body burned through out the night.
Now, the seat of her House was secured in her hands and no other bloody leeches that try to attach themselves to the name of her family, she serves the Magisterium as an assassin and a Magister in the Stealth Arts. Equipment: A cape of raven and crow feathers, a long black leather coat, a belt full of small throwing knives, a pair of black knee-high boots, two long daggers, her family badge, a pair of black leather gloves, and a crow mask.
Additional Information: Her family sigil is a silver crow on a black field. She also has this crow who always follows her around.

Character Name: Alexandros Tanistos, Doge of Simbyr
Age: 55
Gender: M
Nationality: Simbyrian
Appearance: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73 ... 6b6bf7.jpg
Biography: Alexandros was born as a Tanistos, a member of the wealthiest trader family in the Republic of Simbyr, as the youngest son in a 5 children family. Everything was at his feet - money, food, servants, services - and the family was quite loving and friendly. Alexandros soon learned about the long distances that his family's ships travel to bring exotic goods to everyone, everywhere, he also learned about his family's history - from the founder Almodeus to current day. The father, Meviksus, would often tell him stories of his ancestors' travels and adventures on trade missions, and the child was infatuated with the sense of adventure and the chill of discovery.
After finishing compulsory public school education in the Great Academy, Alexandros took the helm of a branch of the Tanistos trade empire - and was immediately disappointed. Today's merchants are lazy - they do not board ships to sail the seas, they do not visit far lands - that's what hired captains are for. It's easier, it's simpler, and it's something the 16 year old boy could not stand. It's as if by continuing this practice he is disappointing Almodeus the Great every day. These thoughts raged in the teenager's head, and without any warning, the child took a small amount of cash, a sword and two of his most loyal servants, then boarded his shop and set the sail.
For the next eleven years, the young Alexandros wandered around the entire world of
Doregon - from Aidalran to Ydwyr, to the deserts and to the cold North, to the Kaeldor Mountains and to the mystical Sakurai. Adventures and all kinds of events, good or bad, spilled out. Like when he got ambushed by a group of Elven fighters and almost lost his life. Or when he was mistaken for a noble in Aidalran. Or when his ship landed on Tarbys and he spent a month living between dwarves. Or when he walked right into a battle between two Wind clans. After saving a village from bandits, Alexandros met the single daughter of the local lord, Lazuli. The two quickly fell in love and escaped the noble's clutches. Later in the journey, she bore him a daughter, whom he called Traviata.
Eleven years and six months after leaving Simbyr, Alexandros Tanistos returned to his home to see that his father had just died and his family's trade empire had just gone to him. He was a changed man, himself - now 27, with tons of practice and experience, and a wholly different worldview. While the travels were over, the knowledge and experiences stuck. Three years later, he was, in a huge shock to everyone, elected Doge, and life changed completely to him.
Twenty five years have passed. Lazuli is long dead - she was lost 14 years ago in a consumption epidemic. Traviata Tanistos, now an adult woman in her own right, has already left her home for her husband in Aidalran. Alexandros is now an old man, no longer capable of adventure or journeys, both due to health and his position. All that is left is Simbyr and the remembrances, and hindsight on how his worldview has become so materialistic and focused on wealth...
Skills/Magical Ability: Alexandros is no great mage nor a colossus on the battlefield, but what he has is the mind and the charisma. A thrifty, courageous and calculative merchant, he single-handedly doubled the collective wealth of his dynasty, and was wealthy and popular enough to be elected Doge. Under his rule, the Republic of Simbyr reached a golden age of prosperity, influence and artistic flourish. When not regarding political affairs, Alexandros is a pretty okay swordsman and a good writer, as well as a speaker.
Equipment: Alexandros usually carries around a steel sword and a map, but his biggest piece of equipment is far less direct. As the Doge of Simbyr, he has, although within limits, control over all of the Republic's military and economical resources. This gives him access to the 8000 men strong Simbyrian Army and the dreaded Fleet of the Doge, amongst others.

Now, I know what your answer is, but what do you think about gunpowder weapons? Like muskets and cannons and stuff?
Primitive, of course.

Speaking of LotR, have you noticed that the technology there barely changes in 3000 years?
Yup. That's the point you know, at least, kinda the point. The Shire, Rivendell, Lothlorien, you don't see much industry in those places. Dwarves are an exception, but the orcs, Saruman, Mordor, they're the ones with infantry.

Numenor also appears to have substantial technology. Apparently they had missiles and aircrafts/airships while under Sauron's influence at least according to the History of Middle-earth.
