Cavalry charges against massed infantry was considered a stupid idea in the 17th Century and their volley-a-minute muskets. Imagine how suicidal that's going to be when the enemy has assault rifles.

Even back in the days, cavalry was very much a flank-and-ambush unit.

Yep, yep. I very much know that. I do play total war games and only use calvary to attack other calvary, or to charge into infantry who are alrady busy fighting another infantry unit.

or for running and gunning basically, hitting them then running off.

So when's the first battle happening? :)

Your first battle against someone not Unity, that is. I can't wait to get this plot line started.

no idea. the legion knows it can't challenge the enclave for the dam, without literally destroying it to force them to flee

and that'd defeat the whole purpose of taking this area.

On the other hand, destroying the dam would seriously diminish the Enclave's ability to influence in the Mojave. There are no other real reasons that Vegas needs to be co-operative with the Enclave.

Could*

While the Dam is very helpful, it's not the only trick up our sleeve. For us, it's really just a military base. A very useful military base.

Destroying it would be pretty stupid, in all regards.

In any case, we did help rebuild a lot of Vegas, and have reduced radioactivity in certain areas. We honestly only want to revive America and make it great again.

And also plunge the Region into total darkness, sucking any hope of the region rebuilding, and signing your own death warrants.
New Aksarben wrote:Also, NAI, did we ever establish just how much military each faction has? they can't use their whole population after all, except for the unity and Legion because of how they're set up and all.

In the old one there was:
1.9 thousand Enclave Troops
2.9 Unity
5.2 Legion

But from the Legion's perspective, would that be a bad thing? A technologically primitive and economically impoverished Mojave would make a suitable easier conquest for the Legion.

EDIT: fixed poor word choice

Legion, well Caesar, hopes that the conquest of Vegas and the acquisition of the Dam will allow the Legion to become more than barbaric tribes, something to allow them to actually create a civilization. A New Rome, A New Vegas.

If the Dam Courser is important, be sure to give a good name.

Also, if peaceful intentions are meant, I'll try to be peaceful as well.

IIRC, the Courser should recognize Doctor Hikari if they see him as well.

Do you think they would recognize his voice too? If so, I'd add that in your post.

Well, I'd say something about that, as he just went on Enclave Radio with his recording block "Light up the Night".

Yes, he wants to make new vegas his Rome, as the colorado is his Rubicon. The river the historical Caesar crossed and ignited the civil war that ended up with his heir Augustus Caesar taking over and becoming the first emperor and truly autocratic ruler of the Roman state.

But saying that, if Caesar has to, he would destroy the dam. He's someone who knows the principle of total war, and what has to be done to achieve victory.

When I mention the Courser, it'll think to itself about the voice of Hikari.

No he wouldn't. That would dam the Legion to be nothing more than barbarians from Gaul. The Legion needs it more than the NCR.

3) Don't think you can link them so quickly.

Second short IC post up, showing one kind of intelligence gathering - the physical kind - the Settlement is busy with.

EDIT: Institute scouts... maybe we'll accidentally run across each other while scouting around Hoover Dam. I don't think the Settlement will be very friendly to the Institute Expeditionaries, simply because the latter is so isolated and xenophobic.
