Btw.... Trace, why vampire? I am interested in this story XDDD
Well, it's a longer story. I'm from Transylvania, and we have all these vampire stories here, including Dracula. Somehow, because of that, someone in my region accused me of being a vampire, and the joke spread, I even had that in my sig for a while.
Even now, as Raventsvo did, there are people in my region who are calling me a vampire from time to time. Even I joke sometimes about that.

Interesting backstory XDDD.
I distinctively remember that someone called me Drillmaster 2000 or that equivalent in Tiberiam when I was SoC there (Lenyo... could you confirm this was the case? I jumped regions too many times for this...) and I am certainly glad THAT didn't get stuck on everyone's minds.
Speaking of: I have used name of "Mutua Portum Concodia" to depict the joint port in the Persian Gulf for upcoming post. Thought you may need to know before you get confused XDDD

I've been staying in my current region for quite some time, and I know most of the people there. I've got quite some nicknames, unfortunately, but I don't mind most of them.
Alright. That makes sense. And it's in Latin, so it's cool.

There will be some mentioning of Legionaires... hopefully it doesn't irk you ^^;;;
I am running with the lore that port is under the Roman authority with diplomatic immunity for the Korean merchants, etc. Laura's palace (as it is pirate kingdom) is located in the Mutua Portum Concodia, and thus Roman legion is present to guard Laura... well, mostly to prevent her from damaging any Roman properties or break any Roman laws. Diplomatic immunity she has, but no one wants or likes a queen that breaks rules, right?

No, there is no problem. Since the port is considered under Roman authority, she could have asked for Legionaires to protect her at any time. The legion's Legate has the right to order something like this, so there won't be any issues.
And after all, who wouldn't want to have some legionaries at their disposal? Legionaires are cool.

You would be happy to know that the first role of Legionaires in my post was to retrain Laura as she attempted to shoot her pirate lieutenant square in between the eyes. Murder prevented? Only a day's work for disciplined Legion! XDDD
Oh and assume that between posts, Dong-Nyuc and Laura is preparing to leave to Constantinople: I haven't mentioned it really... and I feel like my post will become too large if I do... but the two SHOULD be at your hospitality by the time your post starts ^^
But still, nothing the legionaires wouldn't be able to handle.

Compared to how a normal day's work in guarding someone in Constantinople is, this would be fairly different.. I mean, people usually don't direct shoot each other in the Imperial Capital.But still, nothing the legionaires wouldn't be able to handle.
Yeah, no problem. I've started to check how the ancient triumphus was working, and I'm adapting it. It should begin tonight or tomorrow.

It would certainly be different. Dong-Nyuc probably already nudged Laura into signing an act to keep all the pirate-related business (drinking included) in the palace itself, so no drunk riot would leave the palace grounds. Still, it would raise more than a eyebrow of the Legion stationed there to see pirates and their hookers running rampant in the palace. I wonder if they are bemused at the barbaric-ness of it all or would be disgusted at the level of uncivilized pirate culture XDDD
EDIT Posted~! It took a fair bit of my time... but I think I addressed everyone ^^;;;

But everytime I have thought about writing a post to metagame my way to being accepted as a western power I have just feels myself drained from any creativity. I have never deliberately metagamed and it doesn't really become me I think. Anyway I though the, rather wordy, letter I wrote to the ambassadors of the European countries managed to do it in a relatively elegant and not too overtly metagamy way. If it was not clear what I ask for is that the European powers accept that Brazil is the legal successor to Portugal (and by extension a "western" power). The particular mechanism I base on the way that Russia has been recognized as the legal successor state of the Soviet Union, or the way the PRC is largely recognized as successor to the ROC.Old Tyrannia wrote:I'm afraid that with you on the path to war with my ally, Brazil, it's very likely you'll be receiving the sharp end of a Japanese bayonet soon.

Anyway about this Panama Crisis (as far as Brazil is concerned I think it will be more like Morocco 1905 then Sarajevo 1914 but we shall see) I did not respond to the appearance of your warships Nova as your post suggested that they where ironclads which as I understand it they are not allowed to be, and as you mentioned having numerical superiority without mentioning how many ships you actually have. I would appreciate that if you want to launch a surprise attack on my fleet you give a bit more military detail.
