That's pretty cool.
Because sometimes even national leaders just want to hang out

Rynagria wrote:Idea based off “Henshin Hero” titles Kamen Rider and Power Rangers (more so of Kamen Rider), here the players take the roles of the “transformation heroes” or the regular people associated with them. To go in more depth, the “Heroes’s” transformation are going to be based off real life career such as Fry Cooks, Doctors, Nurses, Engineers, Career Soldiers, Pilots, etc., with their accompanying appearance, weapons, and powers being based off the job. Example is a Fry Cook which would be wearing the typical apron and cap as part of his suit/armor’s design while their weapon would range from a Spatula or some other thing, for abilities using fire for his special attack. And now for the associates, it’s something simple as being friends, people who know them, they just have to associated to one of the “heroes.”
Goal of the plot is to defeat a monster of the week and on occasion fight against other “heroes” to collect something I haven’t thought of yet. End goal will be to get everyone together to defeat the main villain that has been sending the monsters down to Earth.
Any suggestions? Questions?

Somehow this caused me to remember Fairly Modern Grimm. Still miss that RP. It had a nice nostalgic feel to it with its supernatural small town settings of Avalon and Grimmsdale. Though it wouldn't be the same without the old group.
Nonetheless I'd be interested in checking out the world of Arthe.

Dracula: You are... Bruce Wayne?.
Bruce Wayne: I'm the Batman! And you are dust.
The Prince of Darkness realised he was defeated by a mortal man who then affirmed his true self as Batman, a persona that overcame the power of Dracula and destroyed him. There's that moment in between that the king of vampires is actually afraid when the only thing keeping him alive his the shadow of the Batman. A monster of human justice/vegeance surpassing a monster of demonic evil. Such an awesome scene.

Wolf Among Us 2 might get revived with the first episode released before the end of the year. I'm moderately hopeful. Might help with a potential FMG RP reboot someday.

Harbertia wrote:Due to the past announcement of potentially merging FMG and Modern Mythos into 'Fairly Modern Myths' the prospect of something is open.
I am no longer as confident in the merger (both involved bloodlines that's about it) I have started work on a Greek Fantasy setting which has reminded me of Fairly Modern Myths as I considered a 'Percy Jackson' epoch (period of play) for our Greek Fantasy setting.
The only critical reception to Modern Mythos was it not using real world myth, which became an issue when players assumed the setting was Earth. Due to a renewed interest in mythology I find myself thinking about the setting and how I could have made it better and should not have been concerned about it 'being like Percy Jackson but not Percy Jackson'. I should have saw that as a strength rather then a potential point of complaint.

The merging of fairy tales and ancient mytholigies into a singular setting based on bloodlines is an interesting idea - my main concern however would be if the inclusion of myths would take away from the 'fairy tale feel' of the original FMG that had a Life is Strange, small town setting of Avalon and Grimmsdale and into something more epic and world-ending like.... well Percy Jackson. Myths would probably eclipse fairy tales due to their sheer status which could put the appeal of fairy tales into question.
Or maybe not - there would be more familiar options for players if myths were allowed alongside fairy tales - but fairy tales themselves would become a subset of larger mythologies, kind of losing their individual charm. Although the line between myth and fairy tale probably isn't clean-cut.

It is indeed not very clear cut, and you speak the concerns I have. The FMG bloodlines would certainly become 'lesser' in the setting should a merger occure unless the bloodlines where taken further back in origin which it's self would present a challenge or at the least be peculear. Like- trying to find the oldest mention of wolves in fable and myth.

I'd like to do FMG againif the setting is small-scale although I am unsure what the storyline should be - years back in the previous iteration I had the character of Clayton start off slowly in a slice-of-life manner, lulling into a comfort zone but hoping that somewhere down the line signs would emerge that something in the small town is wrong and perhaps even sinister, envisioninng a potential antagonist that decended from the Wolf - and then everything falling apart, at least for Clayton. Sadly it was all little more than vague quarter- formed ideas at the time.
Yet.... its kind of nostalgic... and I wonder if there's something interesting that can be explored about fairy tales and nostalgia - which again is just a vague quarter-formed idea.
What do you think can be used as an overarching plot for a FMG RP or should it be a more episodic and free-form structure going along with whatever players make up in the moment?
