Alright.

Please not that you will have creative liberty as the story must adapt to the characters.

We'll need factions or to better lay them out;

We have the following so far;
  • Restorationist - The Humans who have recently been sighted at the edge of the valley.
  • The Warden and Others - the Warden android, and the Rangers are their own faction whose motives at the moment are ambigious. They have outpost through out the valley and are associated with the old medical research facility ruins.
  • Chief of the Valley and Council - This is the main government of the region, but the head position is not filled.
  • Various communities - Packs, Murder of Crows, etc- mice principalities, and serpentine cabals.

It is in this setting that we find a valley- a region- akin to 'Redwall', 'The Animals of Farthing Wood', 'Ms. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH', and 'Alpha and Omega'.

In this region, long abandoned by the Humans who struggle beyond it, various factions are in conflict and united only by a single entity, 'The Chief of the Valley'. An elected entity whose position is held until death. Often this individual is known as the Emperor or High King depending on how they style their rule, and how much they respect the voice of the Court-Moot. With the Valley's population having reached near crowded it was only natural for it to die down in this fashion, but if an outside force does threaten someone will have to bring cooperation lest the divided valley fall. Additionally, the Chief has perished, and a new one must be elected and to that post ambitious minds have said their eyes upon.

Who will lead the valley, and to what ends shall they seek? Will all democracy fade, or will the Court-Moot survive these trying times? Perhaps the valley will fall, and all efforts be in vain....

Ruins of both can be found, but the people of the Valley generally consider these ruins haunted, and are cautious of the mechanical creatures that guard the place- for every so often a being known as Warden, and it's servants called Ranger emerge to abduct, kill, or relocate the valley folk. No one knows what becomes of those taken by Warden- none remember what happened if they return at all. Some find themselves healed of all wounds, while others are nauseous, and do not survive for long after their return. Many have spoken of assailing the ruins in the past, but none have succeed.

With the Valley's population having reached near crowded it was only natural for it to die down in this fashion, but if an outside force does threaten someone will have to bring cooperation lest the divided valley fall. The Beasts We Are takes place in what was once a Wild Life Sanctuary that conducted Medical Research before the Social Wars. Ruins of both can be found, but the people of the Valley generally consider these ruins haunted, and are cautious of the mechanical creatures that guard the place- for every so often a being known as Warden, and it's servants called Rangers emerge to abduct, kill, or relocate the valley folk. No one knows what becomes of those taken by Warden- none remember what happened if they return at all. Some find themselves healed of all wounds, while others are nauseous, and do not survive for long after their return. Many have spoken of assailing the ruins in the past, but none have succeed.

Factions
Council Moot - The Council Moot is the voice of the people of the valley, and consists of representatives from the various tribes, clans, and influential organizations of the region. It doesn't meet regularly, and only when called upon by the chief whom they have elected. However, with the Chief's death a new one must be elected, and as per tradition such a vote shall be called upon when the moon is it's highest....

North Rock Slabs and Rise Rooks - The North Rock Slabs are a clan of Badders (Mutant Badgers possessing manipulative hands and the ability to craft and wear armor) located in the highlands of the northern valley. They are closes to the Warden's domain, and thus have had the most run ins with the androids yet for the past five generations both have kept their distance from one another. In recent times the North Rock Slabs have been engaged in a clan feud with a flock of Rooks who share the highlands; the rooks, while arguably more intelligent are less physically developed as the Badders, and rely on the use of slave labor to manufacture their armor and weaponized talons. This labor primarily consists of mice, rats, and other small creatures. This feud has been stalled by the previous chief of the Valley's intervention but with his death the threat of all out war has again become strong.

The Guardians - The Guardians are an independent order dedicated to protecting all with in the valley. Inspired by ancient human lore concerning martial arts they see themselves as disciplined living weapons whose power is to be used for defense of the weak, combating those who use their strength for exploitation, and to defend those who wont defend themselves. The Guardians do not divulge much of their inner workings, yet identify themselves with a shell collar; as the valley is far from the sea and thus a collar of such design can not be duplicated readily. Those who see such a collar are put at ease, and those living near their Sanctum offer them tribute in the form of food stuff. It has been traditionally stated that the Guardians only feed on such offers, and do not accept anything still alive. Which is seen as a great sacrifice by the predators of the valley, as living prey is the best prey. As such the Guardians are trusted by nearly every resident of the valley, save those who have reason to hold spite. Due to the various physical limitations of the members their fighting styles are made to fit their forms, and thus they possess skills unknown to others in the valley.

None Joinable Factions
Players may not select any of the following to enroll in.
Ranks of the Fit - The Bonapartist Empire is always expanding, and an expedition from the relatively far off Duchy of Gany has been mapping the surrounding region, and has made it to the 'primative' valley. The party has stated that it's purpose is to observe and document, and by most standards appears scientific- with the armed regulars being the only exception. Their vigil has saved the party in a number of instances.
Restorationists -
The Red Paw -
Wardens Domain -

It has been millenniums since Earth, Centuries since Humanity had a central government, and decades since the Bug Wars. You are head of one of the largest corporations in the known galaxy- over the centuries your company has developed into a culture of it's own. The same being true for the others, and each promotes a society of it's own liking. One of your rivals, Sloviek, for example, is deeply inspired by the Soviet Union- it's clients are the governments, and people who share that link. Sloviek, a joint Stock company where in every employee holds a share in the company, sees it's self as the vanguard of a revolution.

What of you? Do you support massive revolts as they? Do you build robots used on nearly every world? Or have you set your sights higher, financing research into the reliability of reports concerning alien ruins, and devices of a nature as of yet to be known?

The galaxy is your oyster, it's time to crack it open....

Yep, In my mind commerce is one of those 'eternals of humanity'. I feel the above to make since from that perspective. Many companies survive the downfall of nations, and if the entire galaxy is one of destruction and rebirth it makes since that the people of that galaxy would cling to something constant, in this case, some of the most ancient corporations in existence.

Congrats, Harb. I am glad things are looking up for you. I toast to your success! (With milk, I don't drink liquor and it is pretty hard to get here :P) I know it has been a pain in the ass filing paperwork on my end, I have to renew my information and the website's been down to update D:

Oh, and a funny moment that occurred; thinking of writing a short story and calling it Me and My Beard: A Story of Brotherhood in homage to my lost friend T.T I grew a beard out in wherever the Hell we were to blend with the locals and was forced to shave it off upon return. I did however take some awesome plant samples like a boss! No one wants to hear that though, congrats, man.

Adulting sucks, but it has its really awesome days, may you have many more. Cheers!

I somehow managed to talk my way into going to work today. I'll be scanning receipts with a NeatReceipts device. I'll have some breaks in-between batches as the computer processes the receipts. I'll stay logged in, and check in while the receipts are processed. After that I'll have to double check the system as it does make mistakes (I had to correct them yesterday).

Edit: I've been out of the RP loop for a while, I feel I'm forgetting something in the app on the draft.

I'd like to have at least 2 more player factions before getting the Gamma World RP rolling. Techincally four are present; The Court-Moot, North Rock Slabs, Rise Rooks, and Guardians. This doesn't include the none player factions.

(going to leave work soon, be back in perhaps Tuesday)

Harb, sorry for not to your post about Gamma World, as I have not much time to check on it recently. This why I have been largely absent from the thread currently, up until six minutes is the only time that I can spend time on typing stuff up. And congratulations on getting the job, Harb, my apologies for the late greetings.

I want to try world-building.. I don't think I've ever done it before. Or maybe I never noticed.

Ah, anyway.. I wanted to suggest a player faction. But it depends on whether there's a marshland in the valley.

World-building is not my forte, but if I can assist I will.

Have an idea for a religious cult for player faction...if possible. I'll read the background for the religion and will come up with something.
