Draft for my next RP, unfortunately to actually make the thing compatible I needed to break spoilers

A New Wild West [OOC/Open/Wild West/Sci-Fi]

Image

IC

The History of the New West

In 2040 four major powers of the world managed to perform the greatest feat of human engineering, the terraformation of Mars, why, the answer is very simple, Earth began to run out of resources meanwhile a world just next in order of the planets that resources have not been touched ever before, and so it was done and by 2085 plants have settled in and by 2090 the animals from Earth found a home, some genetically modified, some not, and soon in 2100 the first colony ships launched each of the four countries that terraformed Mars carving out a piece for them and establishing a Mandate sponsored by them, the part belonging to the US looked oddly like the Great Plains...

Everybody knew what it meant, from the first sight of the landscape, A New Wild West, the return of the age of outlaws and lone rangers, and after a brief Gold Rush in 2110 and a civil war regarding the rights of Androids spanning early 2120s to mid-2130s with the fall of the 2nd Confederacy, the area looked just like the Wild West, and thus our story begins in 2143, either in the Gang of one that goes by Fast Hand Ollie that will need to outclass other gangs in the area and face a threat more powerful than anything or in the town of Big Iron where the Iron Mine stopped giving out iron and now citizens of it need to defend against a forced eviction from their homes by one Hover Transportation Inc. Building a hover train railway to cross the New Great Plains, who knows if at one point, their stories won't become one story

How Things Work
You are presented with two storylines, a giant playable area, and a New Wild West on your hand, right now you are able to join a gang lead by Oliver Jason Rodriguez better known as Fast Hand Ollie or to become a citizen in the small town of Big Iron, once a storyline one of your chars is in ends you will be free to explore the world I provided for you, explore the opportunities in it and see be the classic outlaw of Wild West, but with Lazer Revolvers. Multiple Characters are highly encouraged to be created.

Technology
As you may already notice there are a lot of new technologies involved and a lot of time between our time and the RP time, so, the most noticeable technological differences you will notice are

1. Androids
Yea, they are here, got their freedom from servitude from the 2nd Civil War ( history repeating itself, there are a lot of those similarities here ) before produced in mass quantities now one is manufactured only when a pair of Androids order it

2. Laser Weapons
No, no automatic weapons, laser rifles, laser revolvers and such, they are generally of the same shape as their bullet based counterparts but, their barrels have a lot of small optics and glow red

3. Hover-based transportation
You know the stuff, electromagnetic and such, Hovercars exist in this universe but are yet to come to New Great Plains, currently, the best option for getting around there is either a Horse or a Hover Train

4. Genetic Modification
Many animals were heavily modified for their colonization of Mars, like bison which was made smaller, or the horse which is now able to run faster and such, genetically modified animals usually get the prefix New

5. Cybernetic Implants
These can range from an eye being equipped with night vision to arm capable of lifting an elephant, people who get them are commonly referred to as Modified

Current State of Mars
Mars is divided into five sections, US Sponsored Mandate, EU Sponsored Mandate, Russia Sponsored Mandate, China Sponsored Mandate, and unclaimed land, our main focus will be on the US part, so, there are already five states there over an ocean and one giant territory of grassland dubbed New Great Plains, during the 2nd Civil War 4 out of 5 states seceded, mainly, New Virginia, Madison, Aubergine ( named after a great leader during the initial colonization of Mars ) and finally, 12 Islands, and the only martian born state to stay in the US was New Maine. New Great Plains are what you would come to know from Wild West movies, was grassland with occasional hills and sometimes a desert

The Map
Image
Map made using Inkarnate

New Town: Largest Town in the Region, main hub for trade and other such activities, it is now already connected by Hover Transportation Inc. to its system

Blackberry: Small Town that has seen some growth in recent years but is still mostly unremarkable, mostly known for large wild New Bison populations

Margot Falls: A Small Fisherman town situated near one of the few rivers of the New Great Plains, the river itself creates a great housing for many of Earth fish, it needs to pay "Protection Tax" to one of the local gangs

Big Iron: A Small town, its biggest source of income, a mine north of the town has recently run dry and the town population has seen a large drop as miner's left

Old 2nd Confederation Base: Old abandoned base of 2nd Confederation, rumor has it there is still gold buried under it by its last commander

Desert Builders Camp: A Camp for the employees of Hover Transportation Inc. Building hover train railway, since the reputation of Dead Man Desert they are heavily armed, some say that the completion of the railway there will lead to the end of gang rule here

Mountains Builders Camp: A Camp for the employees of Hover Transportation Inc. Building hover train railway, regularly their chief tries to buy the town of Big Iron from the mayor

Ollie's Gang Hideout: A hideout of a gang lead by Oliver Jason Rodriguez or commonly know as Fast Hand Ollie after a series of duels in Blackberry that marked him as the most wanted man in that town and simultaneously a kind of man you here in the legends of the Old Wild West, the one back on Earth that passed 400 years or so ago

Aventura Brothers Gang Hideout: A hideout of a band of outlaws led by William and Jake Aventura, it most commonly raids whatever unlucky man is traveling near, they also usually take the "Protection Tax" from the town of Margot Falls

Dead Man Desert: A Desert separating West and East plains, the name of it comes from a large number of outlaws hiding in its hills

Barren Mountains: A nearly impassable mountain range, but, a large hover train company found a way through them, however, they would need to destroy the town of Big Iron for it

Albert Swamp: A big swamp, the only on New Great Plains, it is as deadly as it a great hiding spot so many that need to escape something and if they don't find a hiding spot in the Dead Man Desert, they will probably be here

Usually wears black pants, a red shirt with a grey vest without sleeves on top of it and leather boots and finally old cap of the Union ( they look oddly similar to the ones from the 1st Civil War )

Bio:
Born in 2097 in Sacramento, California, his education went alright but he decided to skip college, after a while when he was perpetually unemployed he decided to join the Military, unfortunately for him, he was previously uninterested in the colonization of Mars and decided to stay on Earth but, he got deployed on a small base on the New Great Plains on Mars to see how the Mars-born states are doing. Soon in 2122, the states tried seceding with a lot of claims to them, ranging from wanting the Androids to continue being in servitude to just wanting to be independent, however, they were crushed.

Even though the US army won, they needed to cut a bit of military, it wasn't a big cut, but, Oliver found himself to be one of the people dismissed from duty, he found himself with little to his name on a world he didn't want to be on, well, he was practically forced to start a life of an outlaw and soon he did so, it started from simple heists on mailman and carriages, and soon in 2137 just three years after the civil war he started his own gang.

In January of 2140, he got his nickname after a series of duels in Blackberry, and even though he became the most wanted man in that town, he earned himself a title of one of the soon-to-be ( way after this RP ) legends of the New Wild West, in October of 2140 the rivalisation between his gang and Aventura Brothers and their gang started...

Henshin Hero RP Idea

Postby Rynagria » Thu Jul 04, 2019 2:13 pm

Image
Henshin Hero RP Idea

Idea based off “Henshin Hero” titles Kamen Rider and Power Rangers (more so of Kamen Rider), here the players take the roles of the “transformation heroes” or the regular people associated with them. To go in more depth, the “Heroes’s” transformation are going to be based off real life career such as Fry Cooks, Doctors, Nurses, Engineers, Career Soldiers, Pilots, etc., with their accompanying appearance, weapons, and powers being based off the job. Example is a Fry Cook which would be wearing the typical apron and cap as part of his suit/armor’s design while their weapon would range from a Spatula or some other thing, for abilities using fire for his special attack. And now for the associates, it’s something simple as being friends, people who know them, they just have to associated to one of the “heroes.”

Goal of the plot is to defeat a monster of the week and on occasion fight against other “heroes” to collect something I haven’t thought of yet. End goal will be to get everyone together to defeat the main villain that has been sending the monsters down to Earth.

Any suggestions? Questions?

I've been waiting for someone to introduce this to a RP. I've been working on my henshin hero setting for about a year. Failed to find a good time to do anything with it involving other people. This MIGHT be a good time. I'll standby and see what happens and how this develops. Last thing anyone wants is to waste their time.
Anti-this stupid trend of putting political beliefs in signatures. You're all kids playing big man on a rip-off of the Civilization series. If you all knew how to influence policies and run nations you wouldn't be on a Mongolian basket weaving forum (this one). Time to grow up, children.

Somehow this caused me to remember Fairly Modern Grimm. Still miss that RP. It had a nice nostalgic feel to it with its supernatural small town settings of Avalon and Grimmsdale. Though it wouldn't be the same without the old group.

Nonetheless I'd be interested in checking out the world of Arthe.

I've been trying to catch up on work so been slow to build upon this but will have more time over the weekend. We're gonna go with a looser start this time; not very lore heavy and rather open with the species so long as certain criteria is met to deminish 'monsterious' qualities. So far the trend with newly interested has been for Arthe to be more of an 'alternate Earth' so that's influenced a bit of the development and made things easier on us. Still landmasses seem different- I mean- Austranica.... it's an island.

I watched the Batman vs Dracula, my favorite moment was in the end:

Dracula: You are... Bruce Wayne?.

Bruce Wayne: I'm the Batman! And you are dust.

The Prince of Darkness realised he was defeated by a mortal man who then affirmed his true self as Batman, a persona that overcame the power of Dracula and destroyed him. There's that moment in between that the king of vampires is actually afraid when the only thing keeping him alive his the shadow of the Batman. A monster of human justice/vegeance surpassing a monster of demonic evil. Such an awesome scene.

-----------------------------

Wolf Among Us 2 might get revived with the first episode released before the end of the year. I'm moderately hopeful. Might help with a potential FMG RP reboot someday.

Due to the past announcement of potentially merging FMG and Modern Mythos into 'Fairly Modern Myths' the prospect of something is open.

I am no longer as confident in the merger (both involved bloodlines that's about it) I have started work on a Greek Fantasy setting which has reminded me of Fairly Modern Myths as I considered a 'Percy Jackson' epoch (period of play) for our Greek Fantasy setting.

The only critical reception to Modern Mythos was it not using real world myth, which became an issue when players assumed the setting was Earth. Due to a renewed interest in mythology I find myself thinking about the setting and how I could have made it better and should not have been concerned about it 'being like Percy Jackson but not Percy Jackson'. I should have saw that as a strength rather then a potential point of complaint.

Wolf Among Us 2 might get revived with the first episode released before the end of the year. I'm moderately hopeful. Might help with a potential FMG RP reboot someday.

DC needs to make movies like that again.

The merging of fairy tales and ancient mytholigies into a singular setting based on bloodlines is an interesting idea - my main concern however would be if the inclusion of myths would take away from the 'fairy tale feel' of the original FMG that had a Life is Strange, small town setting of Avalon and Grimmsdale and into something more epic and world-ending like.... well Percy Jackson. Myths would probably eclipse fairy tales due to their sheer status which could put the appeal of fairy tales into question.

Or maybe not - there would be more familiar options for players if myths were allowed alongside fairy tales - but fairy tales themselves would become a subset of larger mythologies, kind of losing their individual charm. Although the line between myth and fairy tale probably isn't clean-cut.

It is indeed not very clear cut, and you speak the concerns I have. The FMG bloodlines would certainly become 'lesser' in the setting should a merger occure unless the bloodlines where taken further back in origin which it's self would present a challenge or at the least be peculear. Like- trying to find the oldest mention of wolves in fable and myth.

I'd like to do FMG againif the setting is small-scale although I am unsure what the storyline should be - years back in the previous iteration I had the character of Clayton start off slowly in a slice-of-life manner, lulling into a comfort zone but hoping that somewhere down the line signs would emerge that something in the small town is wrong and perhaps even sinister, envisioninng a potential antagonist that decended from the Wolf - and then everything falling apart, at least for Clayton. Sadly it was all little more than vague quarter- formed ideas at the time.

Yet.... its kind of nostalgic... and I wonder if there's something interesting that can be explored about fairy tales and nostalgia - which again is just a vague quarter-formed idea.

What do you think can be used as an overarching plot for a FMG RP or should it be a more episodic and free-form structure going along with whatever players make up in the moment?

I did think of a plot where unknown to any one a wish was made that Grimmsdale prosper. Some characters would have memories of the time before the wish but most would just shrug it off as false memories. Event altered would have been averting the murder of the town's founder in the 1860s. As a result the Grimms are a more prominent less elusive family in town and currently challenged by a gang. Gang are actually folks who remember how it was before the wish and seek one of Aladdin's lamps to undo the timeline. Not because the dark grimy town was better but rather because of unforseen side effects of the prosperity that most people do not know or would care about. Plot would see the gang get the lamp and player characters have to decide weather or not to stop them from using it while members in the gang (a few) consider a different wish. FOr one thing, wording is vital and wishing for 'things to go back to normal' can be taken many ways....

Co-OPs: NEEDED REALLY NEEDED, I hosted this before but the scale of the RP was heavy for one person. I need people willing to take on the task of OPing for some of the characters or some aspects of the setting. Specifically I need someone familiar with the lore of the force to handle Jedi affairs as I do lack knowledge in that field. If you are interested in OPing let me know either below or though a direct message.

CALM BEFORE THE STORM

THE SETTING: WAR'S END
It is 1000 YEARS BEFORE THE BATTLE OF YAVIN. The NEW SITH EMPIRE has been defeated and the RUUSAN REFORMATION has come to pass- as the republic demilitarizes and the Galaxy begins to rebuild after a war that cost 2/3rds of the known galaxy's population many do not yet know- but this is the start of a golden age in the REPUBLIC. The ARMY OF LIGHT is to be disbanded, the JEDI are to become keepers of the peace and guardians of Justice- the emergence of the JEDI COUNCIL is at hand as the REPUBLIC reforms and the people rebuild.

For those whom the wars became a focus of life the future is- one of decision. Where do you go now? When life has been so focused on war for 1000 YEARS finding a place in this era of peace poses a challenge to some- and an opportunity for others.

PLAYER CHARACTERS
Players can take on the role of a character from anywhere in the galaxy (even ones from this era they have not designed) though they should be mindful of the galaxy's situation when designing characters and also of characters not of their design they are portraying.

There are however some rules;
 • Only sentient species for player characters, pets and owned droids are an exception that should be included in the character sheet of your character.
 • Meta-Gaming is discouraged, though certain force users may if narratively viable for the situation be allowed moments of liberty regarding such.
 • Due to the Rule of Two players are unfortunately unable to play a Sith though other darksiders are permitted.

The Character Sheet is not only my reference as the RP's operator for the purpose of generating a plot and interacting with the character but also designed to encourage character growth, development, and dimensionalism. It's just as important for you to keep it updated as it is for me to reference it. It is after all what other players will look upon to consider interaction as well.

Note: Remove text in "( )" and note that the questions under the 'HISTORY' section are more suggestion then required information. You don't have to state it all just yet and will likely update the history as you develop the character during the RP.
Code: Select all
NAME: (character's name here)
SPECIES: (Is the character Human or not Human and if not Human what are they?)
APPEARANCE: (an image or a description)
HISTORY: (Where was your character born, what was the social and economic environment like growing up?  Who were your character's parents, how is the character's relationship with their parents or how was the relationship? Is the character still there or have they left and if so why did they leave and in leaving what did they leave behind? Why did they leave it behind? What do they wont? Do they have some grand objective- to be the captain of their own freighter or to return to claim a lost title of nobility when the time is ripe. Not every character has an objective- nor will the objective remain the same. Life has ways of causing one to change their plans.)
EQUIPMENT: (saber, comlink, etc)
MANNERISM:
(Mannerisms are habits or practices such as for example people on Earth saying 'Bless you' after someone sneezes. It's things the character does without thinking that are usually very minor but add to the character- at times mannerisms can tell a story of their own. Perhaps the character has a tattoo on the back of their hand that they rub when nervous....)
WORLD VIEW:
(World View is how a character views themselves and others in the world- it's anything ranging from 'group x is terrible and group y is great' to 'the exchange of ideas is crucial in universal understanding and the advancement of society'. World View can be summed up though as how the character sees those around them in relation to themselves. Researching such will also benefit you the player in understanding what role you have taken upon yourself to portray)
PAIN POINTS:
(Pain Points are activities the character refuses to get engage in or finds the greatest difficulty engaging in. It's the sights that the character will attempt to avoid or the topics that they don't want to discuss)

list
DESIRES:
(Desires are the opposite of Pain Points- they are the activities your character seeks out and the reactions they relish. It's as mild as seeking the compliment of a crush or as extravagant as wanting to be surrounded with actual physical books. It's not the same as goals in that it's not a specific objective but rather environments or behavior they seek out.)

list
FEARS & PHOBIAS:
('Fear leads to hate, hate leads to suffering' - there are always fear. Some as mild as 'the fear of rejection' and others more rooted into one's psychie enough to be considered a mental illness- such as Agoraphobia. As the OP of this RP I assure you that I won't 'spam' your character's fears- I'm interested in plot not torture)

list
Character Modules
These are additions to one's character sheet designed for use by those who need them.
Droid
Code: Select all
Droid Name: (Usually a product number like C-3PO but also includes 'pet names' like Red, 3PO, Clipper, or Skippy)
Appearance: (What distinguishes this droid from others of the same model in appearance)
Droid Model:
Memory Banks: (What the unit remembers of it's existence, due to memory wipes and other factors this might not be the unit's full history but what it recalls and bases it's relationship status to be)
Utilities: (the tools with which it carries out it's function)

Force Powers
Code: Select all
FORCE POWERS: (If your character is Force sensitive, what Force powers are they most skilled in, and how skilled are they? E.g. Have they mastered Force healing or Force lightning, while only receiving limited training in abilities such as Force speed or Force push? Note: Do please be reasonable here and keep your character's level of training in mind while listing abilities; no one should be a master of everything.)

LIST OF FORCE POWERS

Ship
Code: Select all
Ship Name: (Name of ship)
Ship Model: (Model of Ship)
Amenities:
Armaments:
Additional Features:
Notes: (information not covered in the above sections)

LIST OF PLAYER CHARACTERS
 • Bingellia - Alekias Severlus
 • Harbertia - Taul Le (I'll have the character sheet posted eventually)

PLAYER RESOURCES
The following is meant to assist the player in presenting the universe before them and interacting with it. You can help our community by contributing to these resources. If you'd like to submit a fan design the link will go to a post detailing your contribution for other players to reference. The technology is presented as 'LATE OLD REPUBLIC' and 'EARLY RISE OF THE EMPIRE' Era- a combination of both periods with a focus on what was new in the Old Republic era and Old in the Rise of the Empire (Prequels). A few ancient designs are also included to represent the 'used' or 'inherited' items of the galaxy.

Ships

PLANETS
 • Alderaan - One of the founding worlds of the Republic, this world dedicated to pacifism, art, and education was not directly involved in the New Sith Wars which lasted 1000 years.
 • Corellia - Capital of the Corellian Empire, a member of the Galactic Republic. The Corellian Empire while an absolute monarchy is also one with a history of free traders. While most work for one of the Royal companies such as the Corellian Mining Corporation or Corellian Engineering those who do manage to become master of their own ship are celebrated. Corellians have a history of passing ownership of ships from one generation to the next with this giving them something of a 'space gypsy' reputation. Especially as families encountered off world are typically living and work from a ship they inherited and most often involved in some illicit trade. Corellia is home to the 'Green Jedi' or 'Corellian Jedi who where instrumental in preventing any territorial lose by the Corellian Empire during the New Sith Wars. They took part in the Ruusan Campaign but rather then be herald as heroes have been declared a heretical sect by the Jedi Council on Coruasant. They have withdrawn to continue their own traditions regarding the force free from the Council. The practice of Lord Jedi continues in the Corellian Empire.
 • Coruscant - With the reformation of the Republic after 1000 years of almost direct Jedi rule and war this city planet is again becoming the political capital of known space.
 • Duro - Duro continues to suffer misery along with it's colony worlds as it has ever since the Mandalorian Wars. The colony world of Harponi was wiped out 3 years ago during the New Sith Wars. Duro has been part of the Corellian Empire for over 2000 years.
 • Hok - a newly established Gran colony cut off from the homeworld of Kinyen.
 • Kamino - Due to it's enigmatic location Kamino, a non-Republic world, was not effected by the wars that followed the Jedi Civil War; including the most recent conflict- the New Sith Wars. Their Kyber Darts and some clients can be found across the galaxy but they themselves are a rare sight with few Kaminoans being permitted off world. The war which resulted in a lose of 2/3rds of the galactic population has created an opportunity for them as cloners.
 • Kinyen - Homeworld of the Gran, Kinyen has had a division with the colonist on Malastare. Currently Gran born on Kinyen are unable to leave the world and it's socialist demarchy though poverty is non-existent. Still with this isolation has come the independence of Hok and Malastare which does not conform to the government of Kinyen.
 • Manda - Manda was a territory of the New Sith Empire that was liberated during the war.
 • Malastare - The Gran have recently colonized this world populated by the Dug. A series of wars has erupted between the Dug and the Gran; a matter for the recently re-empowered Galactic Senate to handle of which the Gran have representation in.
 • Naboo - The Time of Suffering has started as the planet enters a full blown world war between the princely city states of the Human population. Naboo is not presently a member of the Republic. This war is considered a war of planetary unification and expected to last a century or more.
 • Neimodia - This former Duro colony world turned independent state was utterly spared the horror of the New Sith Wars and used the conflict to gain commercial success. This success coupled with their former colony status in light of Duro's own misfortune and lack of independence has created animosity between the two cultures. Biologically the only distinction between them are the eyes. Both are hatched from eggs, and both go through a larval stage but the Neimodians practice communal upbringing during the Larval stage- with young Neimodians being sorted after maturing from this state while the Duros as individuals raise their young in the larval stage and beyond. Most Neimodians recall their days in the Hive vaguely but with great resentment and fear due to the purposeful neglect practiced by the state- aimed at weeding out the weak. But to stop such a practice would be to abandon an element of their culture that defines them in comparison to the Duros.
 • Soccoro - A colony of the Corellian Empire this world has no representation in the Galactic Senate. While known as a haven for smugglers, and for it's hostile nomadic (though Human) tribal population it's the site of a Jedi Academy. This academy, with a focus on piloting and the force was established by Crix Sunburris, a Jedi Ace from the New Sith Wars who now mentors at the Jedi Temple on Corosaunt.
 • Tatooine - Tatooine was re-discovered by the Republic 100 years ago but like many efforts to civilize it in the past the Republic's efforts are failing. Most of the population are not Human.

I'm extremely tempted to bring a new superhero RP out... probably another Gotham roleplay but I'd need to come up with a plot... also the biggest problem with Gotham as a setting is unless you are playing in the absence of Batman you need a competent CO-OP to play him. I'd possibly be interested in another roleplay beyond Gotham set in my standard-DC-with-player Canon universe, though that changes the power threshold.
