Vivianna may just be extremely skilled or you could have Roderick bitter that he's been looked over for years

Even if she were a living god, there's little reason to trust someone who's been with you for just a few years at most and who has abandoned not one but several causes in the past over someone who has served loyally and effectively for 26 years.

Roderick is also not the kind to be bitter about his position.

If your character is the one who killed a lot of mages then it could be a lack of trust.

I could work with that if I tweak his backstory a bit. Maybe his previous guild was one of those greedy, cancerous ones, and the death of his Mage companion was what finally drove him away from it.

I don't know what kind of person Calder is as I can't find his description, but he doesn't sound all that smart if he chooses new blood over old, proven blood.

But that doesn't matter. I can work something out with what Isles suggested.

My character isn't the one that went full bloodlust on a dozen or so Mages, by the way. Mine only slew one, and that was to save his own life.

A: A veteran Warder who has served the guild for tens of years, who has proven his loyalty and efficiency to the guild, and who has shown to have the resolve to carry out the Rite of Desecration;

B: Some person who only recently joined the guild, after abandoning her country, before which she abandoned her guild.

Seems like an obvious choice, no?

Agadar does have a point. I mean she could be a protege to be groomed for leadership of the Guild. But the actual SIC be Agadar's characters.
