Army: The Dutch Army is built around defending the nation and her holdings, and is divided into 3 main groups.
--The Royal Infantry - The main infantry, made up of 76,000 men the Royal Infantry has been trained to protect the Netherlands and Belgium from invaders.
--The Foreign Guard - An division of 13,500 men, trained in Mauritius and Java. They're designed to protect and keep order in the colonies.
--The Royal Special Forces - The RSF is a special forces unit, well trained and well funded. The 14,800 soldiers in the RSF are there to protect the royal family, politicians and lead the Royal Infantry into battle. They're able to fight in most enviroments, but work the best in open areas and in marshlands. (both size and a description of its quality, organisation & structure, etc.)
Navy: The naval forces of the Netherlands were built around trade and transportation, so there are few battle ready ships. The Royal Navy maintains a fleet of 17 cargo ships designated for trade, and 8 designated for transporting materials and soldiers. There is also 12 frigates and 5 privateers maintained. Economic Strength: The Dutch Empire has a very strong economy, but one that is very fragile as well. Based upon the tulip trade and their colonial holdings, the slightest change in the world economy could either greatly help or damage the nation. Spices, cocoa and dyes from Sumatra, Kalimantan and Malaysia are imported to Amsterdam and Brussels where they are sold around the world.
Infrastructure: The entire country is connected by roads made of cobble and gravel, while a railway is being constructed to connect Brussels and Amsterdam. There is plans to begin modernization of the roads in rural areas, and two new railways connecting The Hague and Amsterdam, and Brussels and Ghent.
Scientific Research and Development: Science is something that sits behind the Arts, Exploration and the Military. The only real times science is prioritised is when it can enhance colonization or the military. The University of Delft is the de facto heart of science and technology, though it receives little funding from the government.
