Official Language(s): Inuktitut
Form of Government: Tribal Council
Head of State: King Nanouk
Head of Government: Same
Capital City: Churchhill
Population: 300,000
Ethnicities: Inuit
Culture: The culture has remained very much the same with the Inuit people. It is highly based upon the landscape and fishing. They still wear furs and hunt and trap often. They culture also revolves around their cattle as well.
Religion: Animist Christianity
Army: there are 25,000 members of the army with 5,000 reserves. The army is well trained and is especially good at navigating the wilderness of the country. They are highly trained in attic condition but have little experience outside of their region. The Taggarik soldiers are the elite 3,000 troops in the army. The Sanerk guard are the 500 elite council guard.
Navy: The navy is well trained and highly skilled. They have much experience as the largest industry in the UIR is fishing and trade.
2 ironclads
2 first rates
4 second rates
5 third rates
6 various others
10 frigates
5 sloops
Economic Strength: The economy is average at best. They rely heavily of fishing and timber, with help from livestock. The economy never really changed and is still much the same as the old Inuit economy, the main changes have been in exportation. The lack of factories has hurt the economy as well. However the people are happy keeping their culture and not having as much money.
Infrastructure: Their are only five big cities all of which are ports and one is the capital. There are very few factories and most of the inhabitants of the ports are traders or fishermen. There are many frontier style towns through out the country. 80% of the towns are connect by railroad and the rest are at least connected by roads. 40% of the population live in the rural area and come into the towns once a week or so.
Scientific Research and Development: The majority of research is in guns and boats, with notable focus in timber and livestock. There is little funding in R&D that is not in these areas.
Primary Goals: The primary goal of the UIR is to remain independent, grow the economy and military while keeping the culture.
History:
1600 - The Great Inuit War begins between the three largest tribes, the Tonrar, Ikkiyok, and Miortok.
1602 - The majority of the small tribes choose sides as the war intensifies.
1603 - As the war intensifies tactics become more brutal and many small tribes are completely wiped out.
1605 - In an act of genocide the Tonrar tribe wipes out the Miortok tribe.
1606 - The battle of Bush hill occurs. It is the bloodiest battle of the war and decides the outcome. The battle last 4 days and on the morning of the 4, the Ikkiyok tribe charges the mountain and wipes out the last of the Tonrar forces.
1607 - The UIR is formed between the winning tribes and exiles the remaining enemy tribes.
1610 - the constitution is written and the first King is put in power.
1650 - Trade increases as small towns start popping up.
1700 - The four big ports grow to be one of today's five biggest and continue to grow. The increased trade with different countries helps the economy.
1750 - All towns are connected by roads.
1810 - All towns are connected by railroad, increasing spread of knowledge and trade.
