We know of our fate,
from the very beginning...




1st January 2025:
An alien invasion force makes landfall in Copenhagen, Denmark. The local military is quickly overwhelmed and the invasion pours over the border into Germany.

3rd January 2025:
The German government declares that it is calling upon Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty, brining NATO into official open conflict with the aliens for the first time.



Like hell we can keep this a secret now.

As you probably now know, first contact with an intelligent alien race was made on January 1st, 2020 during the Moscow incident. First on the scene were law enforcement, poor bastards never even stood a chance. Up against technology that dwarfed ours by comparison and capabilities that we could only begin to understand at the time, pardon my French, but things were looking pretty shit. Fortunately for all of us, the world had an answer to extra-terrestrial aggression: Athena.

Now, the media’s done a proper circus since Copenhagen, so I know you’ve heard the stories – and trust me when I say that they’re true. These guys and gals are some mean sons-of-bitches who got real good and killing aliens and splattering their brains across the dirt at the start of the decade. While the rest of us wooed over the newest IPhone or celebrity heartthrob, they were out there fighting and dying in the mud. And you know what? They bloody won.

Probably would have been better if they hadn’t.

Once a problem goes away, it’s all too easy for those in power to forget about it – especially when it’s as well covered up as this. Athena was a nuisance, a reminder that politicians had to think about something bigger than their next Goddamned election or opinion poll, so they got axed pretty quick. Hell of a thanks for their efforts.

As usually happens with such things though, karma came around and bit us. Copenhagen went down pretty fast: half a million butchered in the first day alone and an entire country lost. It wasn’t until they’d carved their way through half of Germany that we managed to stop them, and even then we didn’t have the numbers to hold if the Yanks hadn’t come over when they did. With the good ol’ US of A starting to fly in reinforcements and a couple of weeks of quiet, a couple of us started thinking about taking the fight over no-man’s land, but we never got the chance.

They hit us hard, like nothing that we’d been expecting. Chains of command were tossed aside as the line fell in a dozen places at once – it was hard to tell if ET was in front of you, behind you, or both. All of our defences, our fortifications, collapsed overnight. Athena got hit soon after that, gunned down in their homes when an alien force struck the Netherlands.

It wasn’t pretty, the days and weeks that came after that. Most of us forgot about putting up a fight when we started to only get static on the radio, it was all about surviving.

And running. We did an awful lot of running.



Hey guys, a new alien invasion RP inspired by Vancon’s Athena. After beating back the first wave, Athena is wound down by the governments of the world until a full-blown alien invasion lands in Denmark. Over the course of the next few weeks, defensive lines crumble as all of Europe becomes overrun by the invaders.

This RP will follow a group of survivors, based originally in the Netherlands, as they try to make their way westwards towards what they hope will eventually be friendly territory – all the while looking for some way to delay the enemy advance. The characters are more likely to be involved with the military, although I’m not going to explicitly say that they all have to be professional soldiers. You could have your character be a surviving Athena operative (I’m allowing apps of chars from earlier RPs), a member of a national army taking part in the defence, or someone with a more civil role who survived the initial attack (base psychiatrist, Athena scientist, police officer, etc). An assortment of alien races and communities that work together to fight the human menace. From what we understand, their goals are to take our resources and enslave us. Cheesy story, but it's real people. They feel like they deserve to own us. Like hell we'll let that happen. They seem to have no base of operations, and no reason that links everything together, save for what's mentioned above.

We understand this group way less then the aliens. For some reason, they aspire to help out the aliens. They've been attempting to get their alien overlords to connect here for years, and now they've said yes. They seem to desire to come and save the aliens. During Operation Blue Night, there was evidence of them being there and beckoning for the OPFOR to come. While their motives are still not fully understood, it is clear that ARES have some very powerful, very wealthy backers. They are not to be underestimated.

An English based company that transports high value items from point A to point B. Only problem is, the corrupt officials at the head of this company and their friends after the Egyptian Crisis are now all buddy-buddy. Now SETH's bosses desire some alien tech so they can transport objects. This group is not about violence unless it is necessary to protect their products.

Some nations have already worked on developing weapons based on the Psionic powers shown to us by the aliens. One of these nations is France. They have begun to harness powers like mind control and hard light. They have given these powers to secret operatives and are sending them on field missions to other first world countries to gain power and intelligence over them, or sending them to third world countries to destabilize governments. While Athena has engaged with Drapeau multiple times over the years, they have yet to find conclusive proof to confront the French government with their activities, and with France being a major financial supporter of the Athena program, some think that it may be in everyone's best interest to look the other way this time.

Unlike the crazy American cultists, Egyptian Transport Tycoons and the power hungry French, the Romanians are rather normal. They too want to get the aliens out of here, but for different reasons. They want to have a person in most of the world's governments so they can know all. Simply put, the aliens are competition for the heads of Razor Wire.

Info: A multinational team made up of top-notch special-forces soldiers from all corners of the world in order to combat terrorism, carry out deniable operations, and complete various other objectives. While these soldiers, and even the government of some of the participating nations, are completely oblivious to the presence of any alien existence, they have been ordered to combat the growing threat from various militant human factions. If met in the field, attempt to ally with them rather than shoot-first. While not having the modifications or anti-alien training that Athena personnel posses, they are still Tier-One Operatives and could be reliable allies...

Info:
Tired of the ever-corrupt governments of their nations, these citizens joined together to form one of the largest militias in recent history. Hailing from humble farmers to even high ranking businessmen, they are armed with whatever they capture, and will fight to the death for what they believe in.

They aren't as well trained as your average military personnel, but it's a common motto that experience is the best teacher. It doesn't matter where you come from, or what background you have; these people just need more guns firing. With recent rumors coming from ex-governmental members about aliens, the leaders of the movement were interested and also worried about another possible oppressor intruding onto their lives.

Info: The SCK was formed before Moscow, and it's primary function is containment. Much like ATHENA, though it's sole recruitment pool is the Czech 601st SKSS, the same regiment from which an ATHENA operator was recruited. The SCK was originally a center for alien disease control, and as such was a low budget concern. However, in the aftermath of First Contact, it's role has changed. It is now a combat/intelligence group focused in the Central European area. Though many of the threats that it responds to are not inside the CR's borders, if there's a remote chance of the homeland being threatened, the SCK is assuredly there. Currently, based on declassified regimental reports from the 601st, the SCK has about seventy operators, divided into seven teams. We've codenamed each team with a day of the week. We know that they have had multiple skirmishes with Razor Wire infiltrators, and have yet to engage an alien force.

NATO JSOC: Spectrum

Info:Formed in early 2016 to combat rising threats by ISIS in NATO countries, they are a collection of operatives from various NATO tier one teams, as well as counter-terrorist groups, due to this they are equipped with top of the line equipment. Their purpose is to stop any insurgent threats in any NATO country, as such they will respond to any human based threats in those countries, hopefully leaving us room to breathe in regards to the Extra-Terrestrial threat.

1st January, 2020:
First Contact is made in Moscow – the hostile alien incursion leaving a number of military and law enforcement personnel dead and wounded. In the following hours, world governments fully mobilise the Athena Program.

21st January, 2020:
The first recorded shooting down of a UFO. All survivors are eliminated at the crash site by Athena operatives.

5th April, 2020:
Athena operatives capture the most intact example of an alien spacecraft to date during a major incursion in Beijing. Despite civilian casualties and the destruction of an office building, events are kept secret under the guise of a terrorist attack.

21st December 2020:
Reverse-engineered technology allows for the development of the Near Earth Monitoring Array to detect UFOs entering the Earth-Moon system long before they enter the atmosphere. Finally, Athena starts to get one step ahead of the enemy.

24th April 2021:
With the completion of the NEMA and the establishment of interceptor bases across the globe, the number of UFOs making landfall is drastically reduced as abduction cases plummet.

12th February 2022:
Athena launches an attack on a large alien encampment in South America, destroying the structure and its inhabitants in a major operation.

23rd November 2023:
With no UFO sightings for over a year, world governments start to wind down their funding for Athena.

1st January 2025:
An alien invasion force makes landfall in Copenhagen, Denmark. The local military is quickly overwhelmed and the invasion pours over the border into Germany.

A defensive line is established in Germany, and a stalemate emerges as rapid-response forces from America reinforce European armies.

A massive alien attack overwhelms the defensive lines, with Athena’s main base in the Netherlands hit simultaneously and destroyed. The single largest retreat in human history begins.

2026:
Europe has fallen.

Active Abilities: Mild telekinesis. In essence, they can slightly move objects, but ion a group they can lift larger items drastically. It follows the 1.5x rule, so with two greys, they can lift something 1.5 times stronger then if there was only one. With three, it'd be 1.5x the previous one.
Passive abilities: None.
Attitude: Terrified. The Greys are most likely forced into combat, so when they have the opportunity, they run away. However, if led by a good leader, they'll go nuts.
Gear: A standard issue plasma rifle

Blues, by Vancon

Active Ability:
Psionic Awareness- Can feel the metaphysical hum of psi powers, and is attracted to them. Blues will follow the 'power' of the psi to it's source. Once they find it, they will either become romantically attached or hyper violent.
Passive abilities:
Enhanced strength- Can move swiftly and at great speed, but only every once in a while.
Bull Rush- The Blues are known for charging their enemies, dealing light damage but knocking them down nonetheless.
Attitude: Cautious, but aggressive. They will play a midfielder's role, staying behind the greys and ahead of the aggressors. They normally have a leadership role above the greys as well.
Gear A standard issue plasma rifle, as well as a few grenades of sorts.
Variants: There are 2 kinds, regular blues, and advanced blues, which look almost the same but they have yellow flags rising off their shoulders

  • Average Height: 2-3.5 meters
  • Average Weight: 90-110 kilograms
Active Abilities:
  • Mind Assault: The Aggressor unleashes a torrent of neurophysical energy at its intended target. The target feels an intense, unbearable pain within the center of its cranium. This pain amplifies over time and is often accompanied by the perception of staring into a bright white light.
  • Telekinesis: The Aggressor can harness neurophysical energy to significantly move objects. Limits in size have been observed around 100 kilograms.
Passive abilities:
  • Tough Skin: The Aggressors exoskeleton provides it with a formidable exterior defense system. This exoskeleton, however, does not protect the head of the extraterrestrial. The armor is, at minimum, pierced with a 7.62x51mm NATO round.
  • Terrifying Visage: At close range, an ATHENA agent with less training on the battlefield may become extremely scared at the appearance of an Aggressor, due to its grotesque appearance.
Attitude: The Aggressor, despite its name, is very cautious in combat. It tends to stay towards the rear of the battlefield, projecting its neurophysical energy and incapacitating those it deems pivotal to the enemy's assault. More often than not, they are the sharpshooters of the extraterrestrial contingent. It tends to shout guttural cries during combat as its fighting, unless it does not want its position to be revealed.
Gear: All Reds carry the aptly named Aggressor Rifle, as much of their firepower also comes from their neurophysical capabilities.
Variants: No known variants have been encountered as of present day.

Height and Weight 3 meters tall, 408 - 544 kg

Active Abilities:
-Hormone pump. This injects various stimulants and painkillers into their bloodstream, effectively doubling all physical ability and perceptive acumen for a few minutes, and allowing it completely ignore otherwise instantly fatal attacks. The activation of his pump is signaled by a loud noise similar to a dog barking and the oculus port turning a from green-yellow to scarlet red, and often times a loud growl or roar from the animal, as the process of turning it on appears to be extremely painful.

-Array Sensors. Can detect minute biological electric fields and movements at extremely short range, along with an ability to detect targets through wall at ranges less that 6 meters. It is unknown what sensors are exactly in the package.

-Bull Rush. Under the influence of the hormone pump, these beast will occasionally charge, using their massive weapons as a plow, tossing vehicles aside and crushing everything in it's way.

Passive abilities:
-Immense strength. Can lift and throw armored trucks like a toasters, and in close range will literally crush or pulverize human sized targets. Able to tear the gun turrets off of tanks at close range.
-Networked Sensors. What one sees, the others do. This makes it all but impossible to pick them off one by one.
-Overwhelming Force. The terrifying displays of strength, size and power by these creatures often cause even the most battle hardened veterans to falter and run.


Attitude: Extremely Aggressive; will move in a straight line at opponents, crushing and shooting every target it sight. They prefer to slowly march to their targets, but can break into a sprint with speeds of nearly 35 mph.

These creatures are dim witted and single minded, and are easily led into ambushes. They also take poorly to friendly fire, and will sometimes turn on their allies. Luckily, they seem to be rather difficult to transport and occur infrequently,

Gear
- Grafted Alloy Armor/Environment suit. The armor is extremely tough, and will not take any damage from anything less than a .50 caliber Armor Piercing round. Anti-tank weapons, such as man portable rocket launchers with dual purpose rounds are usually enough to put one down with 1-2 direct hits. It fails to cover their entire body, leaving the upper arms and upper legs exposed. These areas are vulnerable
to 7.62 and .308 armor piercing rounds and up, and seem like a juicy target for an HE round. Keep in mind that taking out it's limbs is rarely fatal and merely serve to disable it until the hormone pump is activated.
- Sensor spines. These are the antenna and receivers for the various detection and communication equipment.
- Plasma Slug Rifle. This is the main weapon, which is always carried on the right hand. It has two fire modes; a primary shotgun-like attack, that fires 9 projectiles, each with the equivalent force and damage of modern 30mm high explosive round, and a secondary mode that fires a single, larger projectile, that is pinpoint accurate and has the equivalent force of a 120mm explosve round.

Appearance: Six legged walker about 5 feet in height, an antennae as well as its main (and only) armament is mounted on the top of it's "Head".

Active Abilities:
  • Emplace- It roots it's legs into the ground to give itself a stable firing position, set up takes between 3-5 seconds. It only allows a firing arc of 120 degrees horizontally, if a target moves out of the arc it will either, A.) find another target within the Arc, or B.) uproot and reorient itself. This is much more accurate than firing on the move.
  • IR Sight- It has the ability to see heat, is unavailable if it not within range of a Beta.
Passive abilities:
  • Command Line- In order to remain fully active it must remain within 60m of a Beta/Blue as it seems to receive orders from it, if a Beta is outside this radius the Theta reverts to a power save mode in which it will root immediately becoming unable to uproot even to re-target, and in order to target an object, the object must be moving faster than 1.14 m/s and within 40m.

Gear
  • Gauss auto-cannon: fires a 3mm flechette at around Mach 3, at a fire rate of about 1,500 rounds per minute, this heats the weapon up greatly and as such will need to be cooled periodically, a burst will last up to 1.0 second and cool down takes around 2.5 seconds.
  • Plasma Cannon: fires a plasma blast around the size of an American football, the projectile flies at about 60m/s and explodes with a similar size to a 40mm grenade. It has a rate of fire between 1-2 rounds every 6 seconds. Due to the high amount of heat generated by the plasma, the barrel will need to cool every 3 volleys. The projectile's lethality is comparable to White Phosphorus given it's plasmatic state.

Active Abilities:
  • Repulsor Field(Chieftain Only): The repulsor field activates at the Chieftain's discretion, it repels all attacks, explosive, ballistic, energy based whatever. It lasts for approximately 30 seconds and burns out after a single use.
  • Charge: A Simian will give a war cry indicating a charge of both him and any other Simians in the area upon the position of any ATHENA operatives.
  • Rage: The more the Simian gets wounded the fiercer it fights, and the further into a rage it gets. This is when it is most dangerous because it doesn't seem to care for its own well being at a certain point, focusing only on killing everything (ETs and ATHENA operatives) in its immediate vicinity.
Passive abilities:
  • Terrifying Presence: The Simian is an intimidating creature, this may or may not cloud the mind of an ATHENA operative in the field when encountered.
  • Commanding Presence(Chieftain Only): The Simian Chieftain seems to have the role of a field commander. Under the Chieftain's watchful eye the ETs morale never seems to drop, and they never seem to lay off the attack.
  • Titanic Strength: A simian's strength is immense, able to pull a human's arm from their body with a deft pull, close range engagements are not recommended.
Attitude:Very Aggressive, Commanding, Fearless.
Gear
  • Arc Hammer(Chieftain Only):A large hammer with the ability to generate a large electric arc upon impact equal to the force behind the swing. It has a chainsaw like device on the rear of the hammer face.
  • Plasma repeater: A large (For Humans) hand held pistol with a high rate of fire and a dual tipped bayonet.
  • Alloyed armor: The armor a simian wears is resistant to small arms fire up to 7.62mm rounds. The Chieftain wears an improved version of this armor which can stand up to sustained fire from 7.62mm rounds, it's integrity however will fail under continued sustained fire from multiple sources.
Variants:
  • Simian Chieftain:The Simian Chieftains seem to be the field commanders of the Extra Terrestrial forces. They usually wield Arc Hammers, capable of toppling trees in a single swing, they are rarely deployed onto the field.
  • Simain Trooper: The base line Simian Soldier is much more common than the Chieftain, although still capable of turning battles with their durability and strength.

Fighter/Bomber
This fighter bomber type craft is an odd one. While landed, it took no damage whatsoever, but while in flight, it was just like a standard ship. We assume that this means that they have some kind of defense that activates when it powers down. If we assume that it was one of these that crashed in Moscow and Operation Blue Night, they seem to tek at least 5 Greys to control.

  • Plasma Beam: A nose mounted Plasma projector will periodically emit a two meter wide spray of plasma at ground targets in front of the vehicle, capable of slagging most everything.
  • Plasma Mortar: A rear mounted cannon capable of indirect fire upon ground targets or direct fire upon air targets, capable of burning through Chobam armor.
Passive abilities:
  • Easily Noticed:Even a deaf and blind sloth would be able to know a Walker is coming, each step it takes measures on the Richter scale.
  • Alien Alloy Armor: The armor on the vehicle is capable of withstanding 105mm DU as well as Tungsten SABOT rounds, it is also very resistant to heat seeing as they are dropped from orbit.
Weaknesses: It's leg joint are susceptible to damage, once it has been immobilized it is possible to reach the core and detonate it. The pivot on the Mortar is also susceptible to damage. Any explosive that manages to reach the core of the plasma bean will result in it's destruction. However the beam needs to be powering up and the attacker is aiming for a hole the size of a basket ball, while standing directly in the beams path, so this is not recommended unless there is no other option.

  • Psychic Scream: The Banshee projects a psionic signal replicating a high pitched scream, this disorients the target neurons get confused at the apparent lack of soundwaves.
  • Telekinesis: Much like the Greys they have the capability to lift objects with their mind, these objects can weigh up to two tons.
  • Terror Inducement: A Banshee gives a subject intense hallucinations, such as giving a friendly operator the appearance of a hostile, and vice versa, or fake illusions such as a dead loved one being in the line of fire.
  • Sensory Overload(Matriarch Only):The senses of a target are bombarded, every smell they've ever smelt every taste, flashes of all known colours, the feeling of both being frozen and burned alive as well as the touch of thousands of hands and the pain of seeing a loved on the final time and the joy of meeting an old friend. The effect lasts three hours, and leaves the target mentally and physically drained. Discipline score determines if this is lethal or not. (3+)
  • Singularity(Matriarch Only): The Matriarch spawns a micro singularity, utmost concentration is needed to sustain the singularity so any form of distraction will cause it to collapse, they must also remain completely still, providing an easy target.
Passive abilities:
  • Psionic Enhancement: Any psychic aliens in the surrounding 30 meters are given a boost to psychic potential, allowing them to lift 5x their overall weight.
Weaknesses:Those with a high discipline (8+) can resist the psychic effects to a good extent, they are physically weak and not very fast, they also lack any physical armor.
Attitude:Calm, deliberate, scheming.
Gear Energy Staff: The staff seems to pull in a supply of energy, allowing the Banshee to keep using psychic powers without drain, if it's damaged the Banshee will begin to fatigue with power use.
Variants: Matriarch: A Matriarch is indistinguishable except for the red ensemble rather than white, they are capable of lifting excess of 8 metric tons and emplify surrounding psychic powers even further. They are also capable of greater psionic feats.

Family: Mother, deceased; father, estranged; younger sister, living in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Bio: Marilee was a girl without direction for most of her life. Her mother died giving birth to her younger sister, Melody, which drove their father into a downward spiral of alcohol, drugs, and physical abuse. Marilee and her sister would suffer daily under their father's belt until Marilee turned fifteen, bought a pair of bus tickets for herself and her sister, and put an entire continent between themselves and their father. Marilee earned money as a mule for a local marijuana grower, thankfully never being arrested, though she and her sister often spent many nights hungry. Still, they both continued to attend school, and against all odds both excelled.

Upon graduating, Marilee was worried that her transient past would prevent her from finding a job which would more fully provide for Melody, so she applied and was accepted to the military, subsequently sending the entirety of her pay into a bank account for her sister. Despite signing up for purely economic reasons, Marilee came to build an understanding and appreciation for what the military did. Despite not being able to see her sister nearly as often as she would like, Marilee is happy that Melody has been able to piece together a comfortable life for herself, who has since been hired as technician by a laboratory producing experimental drugs for trial testing; Marilee also appreciates once again having a disposable income.

Marilee's first deployment was in northern Iraq, training Kurdish peshmerga as a part of Operation Impact. Despite ostensibly being a training program, free of any direct conflict, Marilee nonetheless saw a fair amount of front-line combat during her two years in-country; her single-handed routing of a Daesh mortar position saw her awarded the Medal of Bravery. Marilee returned to Canada in 2018, where she won the Queen's Medal for Champion Shot. Soon after she was extended an offer from Joint Task Force 2, to join their ranks, which she accepted. During the following year, 2019, she was assigned protect Canadian diplomatic staff in Ukraine; she received the Star of Courage for evacuating a number of Canadian and Ukrainian ambassadorial staff from Donetsk, after the diplomatic talks that they had been mediating there fell apart, in an incident eerily similar to that which took place two years prior.

The Canadian government was approached a few months after First Contact by the Athena Program, requesting more soldiers to fill... recent openings, within their ranks. The offer was made to Marilee, who accepted; after receiving an expedited honourable discharge from the Canadian military, with the understanding that she could return to JTF2 any time she wished, Marilee joined ATHENA forces in the Netherlands. Her deployments with ATHENA were by and large smaller skirmishes, against forces both alien and human, though she was also deployed in the vanguard to South America during ATHENA's second major offensive against the alien invaders.

As the conflict against the alien invaders began to wind down, Marilee left ATHENA and rejoined JTF2 in 2023; doing much the same work as she had with ATHENA, only this time under a Canadian flag, Marilee was their officially unofficial expert on combating the extraterrestrial threat. In 2024, she was selected to join NATO's JSOC Spectrum task force. In response to the invasion of Germany in 2025 Marilee was deployed to the European front to assist in leading NATO operations on the ground-level. ATHENA immediately approached Marilee to bring her back within their ranks, an offer which she initially refused, due to concern with how her own unit would handle things without her. On January 10th, as alien forces overwhelmed NATO's defensive lines, Marilee entire Spectrum detachment was wiped out. ATHENA once again offered Marilee a place within their ranks, which she accepted this time. Not that it meant much, as ATHENA fell almost immediately after NATO's defensive lines collapsed.

Like every other soldier left stranded in mainland Europe Marilee has spent the last year running and hiding, doing what little she can to protect civilian forces from the extraterrestrial threat, and looking for ways to hurt the invading forces.

Weaknesses: There are a small number of triggers, relating to the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father, which can induce panic attacks

Bio:
Born to a somewhat less-than-well-off family in Paris, Emilie enlisted straight after terminale knowing full well that her parents were unable to pay for any further studies. The military practically couldn’t get her in fast enough, with her grades far and above those of her peers in the downtrodden school district. Offered a scholarship in return for a few years of service, Emilie had really been faced with a life trapped in the same self-destructive loop as her parents or a stint with the French Army. Having grown up in a part of the city known for gang violence and a lack of futures, she’d been given a ticket out. It was hardly a competition.

For Emilie, the Army was meant to be a gateway to something else – and although she caught the eye of her superiors early on – she had no intention of sticking around. However, that all changed in 2018. Not yet through her required time of service, Emilie found herself deployed to Egypt. There, she got her first taste of real battle and witnessed what it was like having friends die right in front of you. She was permanently changed, hardened even, by the experience and realised that she was never going to be able to abandon her comrades now.

Following first contact, ATHENA found themselves scrambling to bolster their numbers and keep those recruits they already had from bleeding out on some god-forsaken field. A trained and decorated medic seemed to be right up their alley. It didn’t take much convincing to get the French soldier to sign up, and Emilie threw herself at her role within Athena, with more than a few of her comrades ending up owing her their lives over the years – although she’d say that she was simply doing her job (and point out that she wouldn’t even need to have done anything if they hadn’t been ‘trop stupide’).

After the successful attack on the extra-terrestrial base in South America, Athena gradually found itself being placed on life support as governments withdrew more and more of their funding. With cost-cutting becoming the name of the game, an outspoken, alcoholic French medic was an easy saving. Honourably discharged from Athena in late 2023, Emilie returned to serve with l’Armée de Terre, although records indicate that she never fully integrated with her new unit – possibly since so much of her recent history had been classified to the highest levels. Still, she earned a reputation as a no-nonsense specialist that was good at her job – even if Emilie silently questioned if what she was doing truly mattered compared to the alien threat.

After the devastation of Copenhagen, Emilie’s unit was deployed to the frontline almost immediately and formed part of the initial European defensive deployment. However, when the lines collapsed they bore the brunt of it, falling back all the way to the Netherlands before what was left was so scattered and haphazard that they could no longer be called a unit.

Personality:
Outspoken and blunt, Emilie speaks her mind and isn’t one to shy away from a fight. While she’s not one to ever be described as having a good bedside manner, she’s a damned good medic and – at the end of the day – really does care for her patients. However, the years of warfare and conflict have taken their toll: you can only ever have so many friends bleed out in your hands before it starts getting to you. She’s developed something of an alcohol problem to compensate, although she’d knock out anyone who refers to it as a ‘problem’.

Records also indicate that she was engaged to a fellow soldier at some point, near the time when she was originally supposed to leave the military for medical school.

Weaknesses:
- Proud to a fault, Emilie is woe to back down from a challenge or contest, even a stupid, immature and pointless contest. On top of that, you may have more luck convincing her to play Russian Roulette than to admit a fault or mistake. This has landed her in more than one rough-up throughout her life.

- She isn’t always the most co-operative individual, either. Military life has taught her to accept orders in the heat of battle, expect plenty of backchat and complaints even while she carries them out. This can also make her come across as rather lacking in the bedside manner department.

- She also has a fear of flying.

- Emilie has something of an alcohol problem. She often has a beverage on hand somewhere, and naturally this has caused its own set of problems. However, she seems to be able to handle it exceptionally well - so her superiors have tended to look the other way rather than try and endure the battle of weening her off.

Skills:
- Emilie is as nimble as even some of the better scouts, and probably for the best too. Often the idiots who get themselves shot up are out in front and half-a-sprint through the open away.

- She’s got something of a knack for patching people up, even when under heavy fire and the barest of supplies. When she’s around, you know that your chances of surviving are about as high as they could be – considering the circumstances. Although you may have to grit your teeth to weather a bit of a lecture.

- She is quite capable in hand-to-hand combat and melee combat with a close combat weapon – if not exceptionally well-trained. Although rarely – if ever – used on the field of battle, a knife has still come in handy plenty of times in Emilie’s line of duty. And occasionally off-duty it can’t be helped if some idiots are asking for it.

- Emilie's liver seems to be super-charged - or maybe she's just had a lot of practice - she can handle a lot more alcohol than the average Joe. That's not to say she doesn't get drunk, it's just that she tends to not collapse in a slurred-mess. Of course she's outspoken and ready to throw a few punches after a couple, but that's pretty much Emilie regardless.

Likes: Winning, being in charge, a good drink, big cars (preferably with a healthy dose of armoured plating and plenty of horses tucked away), metal and rock music, an adrenalin rush – as long as it doesn’t involve getting too airborne.

I'd be game. Do we want anything to have happened during their time in Athena (I'm guessing, if something did, they would've broken it off after Athena was being wound down, or at least Emilie would have)?

Well, my thought is that after Artie was discharged, he was recruited into the SCK. I don't know. I'd imagine it'd have been extremely awkward if anything did.

Short Bio: Born in Szeged, Hungary. Vince maintained good grades alongside a good social life and relationship with is family. He would developed many skills that he uses today from high school, as well as his likes and hobbies/dislikes. He attended many extracurricular classes (mainly language and sports) and earned a scholarship for post-secondary education. His family was over joyed when they learnt this and supported him all the way. However shortly upon finishing college, his family fell on hard financial times. The stock market crash of 2011. He had to put off his own aspirations and help his family get back on their feet but jobs and local business weren't doing too well. Vince was strong and healthy but by no means an athlete, after much debate with his family he joined the military to help his family. However once they were reestablished, he stayed, growing a liking for the military life. He'd serve faithfully with the Hungarian Ground Forces for almost an entire decade before resigning. However, he never really shook the army life, everything he did was a mirror of what he'd done in the army. When scouted for ATHENA, he jumped at the chance, approaching the program with enthusiasm and professionalism.

He'd survived the attack on Ooster, and went on to have a sucessful career with ATHENA for the next few years until its dissolution. From there he reenlisted with the HDF for a year before being presented the chance to be part of one of Hungary's elite forces. Serving once again with his countrymen, he distinguished himself, and climbed the ranks from his former rank of patrol leader (Private first class) to the rank of Guard-Master (Sergeant). Over time, he'd learn to perfect his language skills, becoming fluent in several languages.

When The Line was formed, Vince was the local expert for the Hungarians. Because of that, he was hastily given a field promotion, and essentially put in charge of the Hungarian contingent. He'd had first hand experience dealing with ETs. The Hungarians, being part of NATO, rushed to the aid of the Germans. Athena rung him up on the way to Germany, but he'd already been deployed. If he left, those under his command would have no clue of what they'd be getting into. They'd be slaughtered. He'd politely declined as the plane landed. I wouldn't matter much though. The coordinated alien offensive completely annihilated the Line. The world burned around him as everyone "ran for the hills". With the dust settled, it was time to rejoin ATHENA.

That didn't end too well. Central command fell shortly after, and the infantry were left in disarray. He, and the other remaining soldiers at the hastily erected NATO "base" were on the run yet again, doing what they could, coordinating what they had left. And now? Now we're here.
