Flame out because I'm terrible at running them. I suck at planning a story out, so I just make it up as I go. And eventually I run out of ideas to keep it going and just give up.

Hm. Were you ever part of NEI or Olthar's dice RPs? You might want to try something like that. They rely very much on creative player input, so more of the impetus is put on who you select to be part of the RP and your ability to play along with them than any grand overarching story.

That actually kind of helps with me posting an RP. Especially considering people have probably spent far more time than me on an OP only to never get any interest. Most RPs are going to fizzle out and I think once you accept that it makes it easier.

Nah the only ways rps fully finish is by either finding one hell of a good crew on complete accident or having the rp in sections, where finishing one finishes that rp and just moved into the sequel.

I was in a dice RP once. Didn't care for it. Me and the OP got into a fight over him damaging my character in what amounted to a cutscene and he kicked me out.

I had quite a few issues with him. Namely that he was always hounding my ass if I dared criticize a plot point, while allowing a guy who deleted 50 of his posts during a hissy fit back in like he never did anything.

Also, quite frankly, he was a bad OP. Allowed way too much one-lining.

See I was only in his die rolling rp. Was fun. Not as fun as mafia.

The big problem with finishing freeform RPs - and you hinted at it with your mention of cutting the plot into sections - is that they kind of go on until they die. Since they have no end condition except “the RP burns out”, they are guaranteed to end by burning out.

If one intends to properly finish RPs, which I don’t really care about but I’m aware that other people do, one should always keep in mind at what point the RP would be considered finished and move towards it.

I knew him back when he was a noob. I'm not going to say he was never a jerk, and hell, he'd probably outright admit it, but in my personal experience, he was generally a cool guy. I've only ever seen him be a jerk when someone deserved it. Not going to say you did deserve it, because I legit don't know, just that all I ever saw of him being close to being a jerk was to unambiguous jerks.

So one thing i do is I'll tg people I've rpd with in the past or people i know. I haven't made an rp in a while but that's how i go about it.

So one thing i do is I'll tg people I've rpd with in the past or people i know. I haven't made an rp in a while but that's how i go about it.

This is difficult for me. I don't really have any people I've participated in an RP with that might recognize me. I don't want to be "that guy" who messages random people to get them to participate in an RP.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over it. Christmas break is usually a bad time to get consistency. And/or interest. Lots of people are traveling, seeing family, maybe doing some last minute shopping or more. Don't write your RP off yet.
