Resident Evil RP? I'm in for it.

You said, after everyone else had agreed to a Subnautica RP.

I just posted and I didn't know the others already agreed on the Subnautica. Of course, I'm not saying I don't agree with Subnautica, it's just RE 2 is more familiar despite not playing the RE 2 games. Same with Subnautica, except I'm less familiar, although I remember something about "living underwater, with submarine, explore underwater life, find the mystery." plot.

Hello NS. It’s been a while. I’m back, my life is right, and everything is chill.

Hello, you guys may not remember me but I am Zeinbrad, who was probably one of more annoying members of this forum for a long time. I've (like to think so at least) grown up since then, gotten some medication and all that shit, so yeah.

For the past two years I've been doing my own thing, discovered tabletop gaming and done that, love it and have been working on my space opera verse for the past 8 years now. it's basically '1940's America in Space fights Space Samurai Elves while the Knight Templars save the galaxy".

Also, what is your guys view of using dice/TTRPG systems for games.

Does p2tm have a discord server? I can't find it if it does.

There is no official P2TM Discord server, no. Various groups and roleplays may have their own servers, though.

That seems strange, a discord server would be useful for general planning.

It would be too complex though, because of all the different RPs.

Discord is a bane to the proper conduct of an RP and it needs to be burned wholesale.

I see what you mean. I've been in a few RPs where there were massive amounts of co-writes, and Discord was very helpful for that. But for most others, including some I've done, it didn't really have a point and only took visibility away from my OOC.

Yeah, and it creates two classes: those who are available at the same time as the OP, who can contribute massively to the RP and the world building, and those who are not. Those who are not get left behind quickly, as discord is not at all easy to read back on.

What gets me the most is when a small group of players does all kinds of world building, doesn't communicate this at all, but does hold it against players making an app, as if they should have known.

Oh no, very much not. My life sometimes has sudden spikes of me not having time, so I kinda lost track of your RP, which I very much regret.

It can mean that any periods of drama are more easily skimmed over without letting it all out on the forums.

Well put, I do miss the times in NS before IRC or Discord was not the primary means of OOC communication. I miss having OOC threads where the planning is actually done.

Exactly why I never use IRCs or Discord in my RPs :P

For sure. It seems tho unless you are the one creating the RP you are almost kinda forced too as was said above, either be on discord constantly or be regulated into the "your not pulling your world building weight" class. Its the same for regional based II RPing which I do allot of, but its not as bad of a problem because at least it gets the members talking. Tho id much rather still have RP exclusive OOC threads.

This is not a Discord-exclusive concept, the exact same thing can and does develop in roleplays which do not use any sort of extra-forum communication and do all of the planning on the OOC. I can personally attest to that - I live in the worst possible timezone for role-playing, as I'm available when it's night and morning in the Western Hemisphere, so 90% of all chatter takes place when I am asleep, and back when the Infinite Justice series was big and moving quickly, I would always miss important planning and story discussion because all of it would take place during my night and I'd wake up to a complete discussion with nothing to add.

Perhaps this is because I hold no nostalgia for highly active OOC threads (waking up to four pages of OOC chatter every morning and having to shift through it for any information which may be important was never something I liked), but I believe that Discord is a better method of OOC communication than OOC threads. But only as long as you use Discord right, instead of just slapping down a basic server and calling it a day. Pins and separate announcements channels allow all the participants to quickly find important information in one place, and mentions allow them to find where they are personally required instead of shifting through pages of pages of OOC to find anything they are needed in. The Discord search function is a lot better than the NS one, too.

Oh, and, custom emojis too. :P
