I see Kyrusia on the RP subforums, so I assume he likes to RP sometimes.
Plus, it's not always a good thing to have a Moderator interested in this thread. Like when there's a specific post that interests them...

Moderator did involved themselves in RP, it's just not all of them.

I RP on puppet accounts when I have the time; they're not exactly a secret, and anyone that does a bit of digging can find (most of) them. I just haven't RP'd on this account in years, but everyone I interact with knows me by this account and IRC/Discord nick, so, it's the most appropriate for "official busienss," as it were.

I can see why most mods would use puppets for RP and fun. Still, why don't many just RP or play around on their mains? Or is it like some professionalism issue?

On another note, saved another animal! Little baby rat was drowning in a bucket, so I dumped the water and took the thing out to a grassy spot to let loose. Fucker bit me twice, but didn't break skin. The little scamp. I wanted to keep it, but I couldn't.

I'm having a lot of incidents with wild animals lately.

Wew lad. I've come to expect nothing from that group but 40K/Hard Science circlejerks and "Muh RL physics" arguments over the years. FT doesn't have the best reputation at all.

Then again, my preferred FT states are ones like The Cabal, or The Covenant, or The Dominion. I also only ever liked Dani/Drone Empire's FT stuff on NS, since her stuff reminded me of one of my favorite enemies in a certain game. Only good FT writer I ever personally knew, anyways.

I'll continue to write and develop my little FT projects on the side with help from my other NS Discords, at least when I'm not looking into PT and factbook retcons.

I think he meant hard sci-fi, which is, to my understanding, sci-fi that tries to be rigorously based in real physics and stuff.

But I could be wrong.

Woo, nailed it.

While I can't speak for the others, I know for me personally it was because I largely left MT and PMT (the tech-levels this account was variously active in), but kept this account as my "OOC account," so to speak. Helped I continued using this name offsite, which meant that most NSers knew me by it.

There's also, I'm afraid, the simple fact that, well... If you're RPing, you may simply not want to be bothered with Mod-stuff - something that can happen when you're on your jacketed account. It's not unheard of for people to bomb into threads staff have run in the past specifically to be "active in a thread ran by staff." For a variety of reasons, that isn't necessarily conducive to said staff member being just a player - which a lot of people forget, we're allowed to play the game, too. Puppets make that issue (mostly) moot.

I like both, but I generally just like to be realistic, while still throwing realism out a little bit. For example, Cowboy Bebop, with astral gates, or Halo with Forerunner tech like hard light and floating cities.

Oh! No animals today, but I did almost get run over twice on the way to check out the local college. I...don't go downtown much. Highway.

I shared this in PL but thought I'd bring it here too, since it's good stuff:

I don't know many of you watch the YouTube channel "Terrible Writing Advice," but he's a pretty smart and funny dude who primarily makes videos that sarcastically showcase common writing mistakes and genre trends. All his stuff is worth checking out, but today he released his first serious video, "The Nature of Clichés - Honest Thoughts," wherein he discusses the nature of writing cliches, our reason for being afraid of them, and how to approach them when you suspect that you are writing one. To expand upon this subject, this is another video by another YouTuber also giving his thoughts on cliches, using anime in particular (Tsundere, Yandere, etc.) to demonstrate his points. They're both informative but easy to understand and essential for anyone who has ever worried about avoiding cliches in their work.

Already been watching the bloke. Funny videos. Also, I recognize a country accent anywhere and I like.

I did get a real kick out of his Mary Sue video, because it reminds me of a certain RP thread I was in.

Also, new IHE video on I hate Rick & Morty Fans. Thank god, I don't know where this new wave of fedora tipping and "intellectualism" came from with the show, but I'll laugh at any opportunity to tear it apart.

Middle of a war to topple an oppressive totalitarian regime that's dispatching mutated beasts and committing war crimes galore? Love triangle. Character is trying to defeat his parents' killer and cope with growing up? Love triangle. Your Italian friend is having you for dinner so you can experience your first time killing the date and making her into the sauce for the secret family pasta? Love triangle.

All I wanna do is scare kids and do stupid shit.

Scaring kids is the easy part. I have a friend who makes tribal masks out of animal skulls, and fixes them to black robes with bones and chains. Scares the hell out of them :p

The only thing that makes me uneasy about the get-up is that animal skulls, but then again it's Halloween and it sounds like it'd fit the whole thing.

If I ever dressed up again I'd probably just get a Grim Reaper costume and wear a couple of black veils over my face. Just enough where I can see and my face would be unseen. Carry around an hourglass and a fake scythe...

Considering that I still look 15, tempted to dress in a sailor fuku for Halloween, but that sounds too cringey.
