When I followed that link, my recommendations were "Adolf Hitler - Seven Nation Army" and several Steam Powered Giraffe music videos.

I have...strange recommendations.

I was going through Leadbelly songs on YouTube after I heard about him from Nirvana Unplugged and I found he made a song about Hitler.

Depends. Probably not as one of the main PCs, unless you could justify it really well: The idea is that a group of random people who (for the most part, at least) don't know each other end up all caught up in the same situation, and have to deal with it. So a hidden vampire might be possible, but otherwise, probably not.

Now, if you wanted to do an antagonist vampire, I'd be very okay with that.

Agritum wrote:To be honest people fear the Bright Order even centuries after.

Well, magic in Warhammer is a very scary thing; you'd be daft not to be wary of it. I do get the impression, though, that over the centuries, attitudes have generally shifted from "He's acting unusual, kill it with fire!" to "Let's wait until he actually does something illegal, then kill it with fire." As a general rule of thumb, anyway.

This nation a funsion between capitalism and social democracy (the only type of socialism made to actually be incorporated into capitalist governments rather than trying to destroy it).

This nation is PMT/FT. Sometimes modern tech.

We sometimes use pokemorphs and digimon in our armed forces. Sometimes

We are technically centrist.

This nation is a reunited Yugoslavia (and also sometimes controls the UK as well).

I mean, every time someone casts a spell they take the chance that they, or people around them, might get royally screwed - a mage won't exactly use magic to light a campfire, for example.

New nation! Yay!

I want to do something, like a silly little thread or something, for a new national leader, but I always dread making threads because I get nervous for some reason. Still, new nation. Just an improvement over my old one, but same canon. Biggest changes are the name and some slightly redrawn borders.

The Mentor Program will be hosting a panel, Future Tech: Space Has a Ground Floor?, on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 8PM Central Daylight Time.

Probable topics are likely to include: the Four C's and other fundamental community conventions (and apparent hurdles), designing worlds and star systems (both in a star-state and as the part of a P2TM game), creating a star-state itself (with a focus on government, society, and culture), the positives and negatives of playing as humans (or close-to), the positives and negatives to designing (and playing) alien sophonts, as well as the differences and commonalities of FT between N&I and P2TM. This panel will, in general, be focused on serving as an introduction to players looking to get involved in Future Tech, how to get started in Future Tech, as well as answering some pertinent questions from the NationStates roleplaying community about the tech-level in general.

This panel will be hosted on the NS Mentor Program Discord, which you can access by clicking here. No registration is required, but please be certain to appraise yourself of the server rules.

Hope to see y'all there!

Please note: while there are similarities between Future Tech in N&I and P2TM, there are also fundamental differences. These will be addressed as warranted and necessary during the discussion of panel topics. We ask for our audience to be patient and to respect these variances in the context they are provided.

Wew lad. I've come to expect nothing from that group but 40K/Hard Science circlejerks and "Muh RL physics" arguments over the years. FT doesn't have the best reputation at all.

Then again, my preferred FT states are ones like The Cabal, or The Covenant, or The Dominion. I also only ever liked Dani/Drone Empire's FT stuff on NS, since her stuff reminded me of one of my favorite enemies in a certain game. Only good FT writer I ever personally knew, anyways.

I'll continue to write and develop my little FT projects on the side with help from my other NS Discords, at least when I'm not looking into PT and factbook retcons.

Whatever floats your boat. I rather like playing my sci-fantasy, Dune-esque star-state with little to any focus on real-world physics - spare when I indulge it for my own, personal satisfaction. Who doesn't like a little quark-gluon plasma with their atrophied prescients every now and then?
