The chat is governed by a Mod. I'm not sure they'd be too willing to update polls. We might see what bribery brings. :p

Yes, we're coming up on the end of the year. Yes, we know the annual P2TM Awards are on people's minds. Don't panic. Things should gear up towards the end of next week. Yes, we'll have the popularity contest portion, and yes we will have the judges panels for the writing awards.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

We can blackmail them. "Give us polls or we'll get crazy with the cheese wiz!"

This chat is dead half the time and this depresses me oh-so-slightly in insignificant ways, so, :

Your Favorite Trope in Your Favorite Genre. Why it is you favorite trope, and how is it meaningful to the genre?

That's what I meant. Big adventure stories, running around the world and looking for treasures, and getting roped up in crazy battles and whatnot.

The redeemer often found in the action genre. An individual who starts off as the antagonist but, usually after a heated battle, changes their ways and joins the protagonist in their cause. I enjoy the personality that a lot of these individuals tend to have in common plus it's a good lesson to note that not every fight has to end with someone dieing. While I admit watching Guts in Berserk absolutely destroy guys left and right is awesome, it's still enjoyable to see interesting enemies undergo character development
BOSS NASS : Yousa cannot bees hair. Dis army of mackineeks up dare tis new

QUI-GON : That droid army is about to attack the Naboo. We must warn them.
BOSS NASS : Wesa no like da Naboo! Un dey no like uss-ens. Da Naboo tink

OBI-WAN : After those droids take control of the surface, they will come
here and take control of you.
BOSS NASS : No, mesa no tink so. Mesa scant talkie witda Naboo, and no
nutten talkie it outlaunders. Dos mackineeks no comen here! Dey not know of

OBI-WAN : You and the Naboo form a symbiont circle. What happens to noe of

P2TM has been dying of sort recently, I think? I mean, we lost some and we gained some with the return of old players too, but mostly we lost some.

Objectively, P2TM is posting at a rate that has only accelerated since it was first created.

We just have a hard time luring those posters into the Restaurant and community threads these days. Which, if you think about it, kinda makes sense. Back when P2TM was first started, nobody had RP groups, P2TM regions, or any cliques to go hang out in. If you wanted to shoot the shit, bounce ideas, kick back with your mates, you had to come to certain hubs, because there were no other hubs in existence. It is only natural, though in some ways a bit sad, that as the community has matured it has differentiated and the old "primary" hub doesn't receive as much traffic as it once did.

I wouldn't worry about P2TM dying until NationStates itself starts dying, and I can't honestly see that happening any time in the near future, unless for some reason browser-based communication as a whole starts being passe.

Discord is the one that you're looking for. Back when it wasn't used as massive as now, we posted many in NS. Now, most of the chats were relegated to the Discord, with here being solely for RP. I don't see this as something bad since it means focusing P2TM on RP instead of RP and chats is a good thing, but I sorely missed the days when Discord wasn't existed.

But then again the only constant thing in the world is change.

So much for the "Offsite chats are bad for growing RP" eh? Lol. Though I hardly care anyways.

TBH though, I honestly think things were better before P2TM split from F7, but that's just me.

Because now there's more than mindless action and bad-guy vs. good-guy. There's something to study while everyone's beating each other up?

1. I've seen enough RPs with their own discords die because of lack of activity, because everyone was more focused on posting memes in the chat. I stick by it.

2. Were you even around on here when that happened? :eyebrow:

Okay. So I'm done building up the setting for my roleplay, but I don't have an actual premise.

What do I do?

Well, think of one? :P

Maybe look at plot tropes that fit the setting of your roleplay and see how you can put a creative spin on them.

It is. Offsite chats killed RPs, sometimes, though not always.

Hmm. I have an urge to put together an XCOM 2 dice-based RP. Based on different resistance factions.

2010. P2TM split around 2012. I have much fonder memories from then, because it was generally a less pretentious place, and more "Wild West"-ie in my experience.
