It means you're safe from the Russians, but not from ISIS and NATO.

My company had the dubious honor of getting cadence banned across the whole base after we composed a rousing chant about the tender relationship between artillerymen and our CO's dogs. Totally worth it, though.

Artilleryists - the legendarily filthiest branch of the Army.
(I remember reading an autobiography of a South Vietnamese general who recalled the artillerymen at his French officer's school as being so incredibly lewd that he simply couldn't hang with them when they started drinking - the songs were dirty enough to make him faint)

Could be a coping mechanism for being the deadliest branch of a land force.
I dunno if it's a strictly Finnish thing, but it was traditional for us to hate artillerymen - the ones on our side, at that. I was a jaeger, though, and it was customary for us to have negative feelings towards everyone who wasn't us (ranging from a love-hate relationship with engineers to utter ridicule towards sailors), but artillerymen were utterly despised. I have no idea why, but even voicing the idea that they're human beings excluded you from being one of the "guys."

Huh, is it? Why so? I can't imagine it's due to the cannons misfiring as it used to be...

Probably due to them having an "easy" job while still being the most destructive force on land. As we saw it, they didn't have to go through the grueling infantry training we did, and if it came to it, they'd be sitting safely behind the lines firing their penis compensators, completely safe... except for the counterbattery fire and air strikes. As I said, the animosity wasn't really founded on fact.
There was also the idea that they were being showered with promotions, which actually made sense, since arty units have more NCOs and officers than jaeger or infantry ones. Nevertheless, we joked that an artilleryman made lance corporal when he learned to shit in the toilet bowl instead of the sink, and corporal when he understood flushing.
Oh, and let's not forget sexism. There are no female jaegers, but plenty of artillerywomen, and in a hypermasculine, testosterone-soaked society, that made them worse. No way was there envy of them having and us not having girls involved, no sir.

Oh, I should have specified I meant the deadliest branch... and now I don't know if that "deadliest branch" actually even referred to artillery as I thought it did now...

Did your unit ever realize that those poor fellows had to study fucking maths while you got to shoot people up in the face?

Of course. That made them nnneeeerds.
We weren't nerds for studying, though. I specialized as an IFV crewman, which meant a lot of study, including stupid useless crap like the inner workings of a diesel V12 engine - knowledge I not once put to use. That was badass, though, because we did it.

I'm learning AC at the moment.
