If I were you, I would just begin sieging Syracusaen border forts over the winter, and save your proper military deployment for better weather. A single storm on the Mediterranean can kill tens of thousands; just the historical record alone records dozens of times when naval transport in this era went horribly awry because commanders tried to sail in poor weather.

The fleet had enough luck to sail for three separate days. Punic Sicily has enough farmland to sustain the soldiers for three more months and supplies are being sent. It's better to attack a weakened Syracuse during winter than to attack them during spring. We're trying to starve them by sea and besiege them by land.
