I am deeply sorry for the attacks on your nations capital, and pray for those affected by the attacks both in Paris and throughout France. As a fellow Muslim I apologize deeply and in place of those who use our religion to commit such an heinous crime. I pray for France, for Paris, and for all those affected.

Let me elaborate a bit. You can apply as any nation on the zoomed in maps. The "Key nations" list is those nations who were historically important, thus are specifically good choices for a player. They can obviously be played.

The nation modifiers and stats are the nations who are already taken, and thus those are their bonuses.

Formable nations are those that a player (who already has a country and is playing) can form if he/she meets the requirements. Possible rebels I presume are rebel factions that own no land on the map but CAN be played.

Country: Seleucids
Demonyms: Seleucid
Currency: Gold Coin
Name of Ruler: Arachia the Wise
Do you know where it is on the map?: Asia... somewhere?
Population: I dunno

In-Game Focus: To improve trade, consolidate power, and prolong the life of the nation. To expand, and gain control over the rest of the Alexandrian lands.

The only issue is that the Seleucids are already taken by another player. As stated in my explanation, you can refer to the "Nation stats and Modifiers" list for all the nations already taken by players. There may be some Seleucid vassals not currently taken, if you really want to go down the route of that area. I'm sure the other two would like another sibling to help pester the greater empire.

I dunno what to make. It's all confusing. There are taken nations in the key nations list, even though that's where I was told to look for things I wanted to take, and the OP is very poorly put together. I'm sorry, I don't think I want to join, anymore.

Man, Carthage's history is scarce. After preparing for war against Syracuse, I'll send several expeditions down south. Then if all goes well, I'll try to unite all of Carthage's cities and colonies under one centralized government.

Mind if Carthage and Egypt become allies? Such an alliance would be OP according to some AH historians.

And it has begun. Carthage will make sure it does not fail again. Is 46,000 soldiers good enough against Syracuse?

It is, but you'll likely be using mostly mercenaries. Carthage had crap all for a professional army.

I fear the day the Truceless war will come though. I should balance stuff once we conquer Syracuse. Speaking of Syracuse, what will Etruria's response be?

Besides the obvious gameplay reasons, there are very few groups in any given point in history who will happily pack up and have their male population exterminated every few months.

You're not justifying it to the world, you're explaining to the people why they are going to die for you.

Very true, but justifications in this era are a lot wider than in the modern one. Desire for more land, the gods told us to, we like fighting, they have nice things, why not? were all valid reasons depending on the group in questions, that is all I meant.

edit: as a poli sci guy, I tend to have much narrower definitions of these terms too.

My, my.

I actually didn't know that Eturia wants Cyprus. However, I really need that island base, so if it comes to it, I would be willing to challenge you for Cyprus. I have a better historical claim anyway, since Ptolemaic Egypt has tried to invade Cyprus before.

Perhaps. Egypt is a bit wary of Carthage at the moment, because I'm worried you'll use your resources from your conquests in Italy and Sicily to fund an invasion of Egypt, but if you have something you could offer me, I'd be willing to consider it. However, at the moment, I feel one of the Italian states would be a better ally, as I could more easily manipulate them while they're weak, and they couldn't directly challenge me unless they build a navy to invade from the sea.

Could you elaborate? While the Jews originally had some polytheistic tendencies, from what I've read they were quite unique in ancient times for worshiping only one god. Plus, I didn't know what 'monolatristic' meant until I just looked it up. From what I'm reading, it's a legitimate theory regarding Jewish worship in ancient times, though if it did really exist, it died out around the Babylonian captivity (long before the events of this RP).
