Basically, a governor serves a Daimyo.

The Daymio was a powerful warlord who usurped the Shugo (Governor) office. The Shugo served the Emperor while the Daymio served the Shogun. When the shogunate fell the Daymio remained independent and tried to take the Shogun's throne. That was the beginning of the Warring state period.

Basically the game that the character app is based off of. Well, the character app is based off of how to make a character in nobunaga's ambition, but simplified.

Basically, you select a clan to play as in warring states japan, and you have characters(Retainers) that do all the work such as domestics, battling, etc.
They are your clan's backbone.
It follows the story of the warring states period from the birth of nobunaga in 1534(His literal birth, not rise to power) to end of the period during the battle of sekigahara in 1600. It tells the story of several clans, and you can make your own clan.
I especially love the music.
You use diplomacy, military strategy, and cunning to unify the land.
And the game is very hard. You can be battling just one clan for weeks on end IRL.
It's hard though, by being legit military strategy.
It's great.

I warn you: You will use the in game edit tool. It's basically where you can edit stuff to your heart's content, a bit like cheating.
But, you won't be able to resist due to the difficulty and stuff.

Unless it is as difficult as Victoria 2, or Hearts of Iron 3 on very hard I think I'll be alright.

You start with only one base. Some areas will have large clans.
You'll use it, I guarantee you.

Also, you should ally with Jeon as well, and form a triple alliance like the Imagawa's, but just like the Imagawa's, it eventually crumbles.
