He met a German soldier there who would be a lifelong friend. His name was Martin Waltz. He also met his future wife, Pilar, who served as a nurse. They married after the war.

In 1950, Rodrigo left the army and became an officer in the dreaded Policía Armada, and steadily rose in the ranks. He's a big fan of Franco, but consider Hitler to be a bit wacky, someone to laugh at.

He's right now on vacation in Germany with his wife, and they plan to surprise Martin with a visit.

It wasn't love at first sight, but their love grew forth as he recovered from his wounds. She also met another man, a German soldier named Martin Waltz. He too tried to charm her at first, but instead they became good friends.

Back in Spain after the war she continued with her studies and married Rodrigo. Eventually she became a doctor.

Right now she's on vacation with her husband in Germany, and they intend to surprise their dear old friend with a visit.
